While I should probably expect this especially considering how much I modified my hotend. I bought an e3d v6 hotend a few weeks ago: http://e3d-online.com/E3D-v6/Full-Kit/v6-3mm-Bowden And I ended up breaking the nozzle and losing the heat break. So I replaced the heatbreaks and nozzle with 1.75mm variants and then ran 1.75mm filament through it. It seems to work for a little bit and then after a while my extruded like the stop extruding. The issue seems to come somewhere from the heater block area of the hotend. If I pull out the filament, cut off the end and put it back in it works for about 15 again before I have to repeat this action and I'm wondering what this could be... As the same block + nozzle + barrel (heatbreak) worked on direct drive setup.

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right thread (i've seen other 3d printing stuff here, but idk) I'm planning to build a low power server, so i'll be needing some 2.5HDD cages that i can stack and make easily. (like so) I've made the cages with 123D Design. the inner dimensions is exactly enough for my test drive (7mm height, 69mm width.) (here is the 3d drive i'm using with the dimensions) So Question: 1. Am i doing anything obviously wrong (not enough inner room for the drive, not all 2.5 HDD are the same sizes) 2. is the file okay or have i done something that'll waste all the printer filament I'll be getting a single one printed at my library soon, as my first prototype. I've attached the 123d Design files and a STL file if you want any other ones let me know, but (hopfully) you shouldn't need the files. Thanks (Edited the 123 design see rest of post for details) V11 increase width to have some extra room.123dx

I have a monoprice maker select v2. I have to manually level it. I cannot seem to print anything that requires the full bed. If it does require most of the bed or atleast stretches across most of the bed, it will not lay down the first layer well. Usually only a couple parts of it will stick. I try to level each corner in a star pattern. PLA 200c extruder (small prints work well at this temperature) 60c bed 30mm/s 0.2 mm I have it print 3 skirts first and the skirt fails. Any fix?

Hello LTT community, I have started a new exciting 3d printing project! The projects involves a printer that I kickstarted purely for fun, and didn't expect to work well. I kickstarted and received a 101HERO printer, and have had nothing but troubles with it even after following several guides on how to fix the issues, I have given up on the included electronics. I created and 3d printed a custom hot end mount with spare parts from other printers, and have a spare Sanguinololu board I would like to implement. I can upload some pictures of the mechanical improvements if people seem interested. The trouble I am running into is that the Sanguinololu board was designed ( I believe..) for a solidoodle printer, and I am attempting to adapt it to a delta style printer. I was thinking about borrowing the firmware from H2 DIY delta printer from Seemecnc. This issue is that the H2 uses different electronics than what I have available, and I'm not sure how to see if the pin mappings are the same between the electronics sets. Does anyone here know how I can check or suggest a different firmware to run the printer with? I'm open to any information or suggestions! Thanks in advance!

So my friend found a prusa clone printer on a website for $25 I bought it a few days ago and it shipped..... whoever that listed is going to get fired....

So I was browsing Amazon this morning looking for a 3D printer, and I saw one that I hadn't seen before. It was only £139.99 delivered next day with Prime. My first thought was "It's only £140, what could possibly go wrong" so I just bought it. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0742B99W2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I mean it's supposedly an Anet A8, and they're supposed to be half decent machines, plus if it doesn't work, I can always take advantage of Amazon's returns policy so I'm not going to lose anything. The one review on it is 1 start and literally says 'it does not work' so I don't know if that's anything to go by. Does anybody who has experience with 3D printers think this was a bad decision? I mean, it was nearly £50 cheaper than the next cheapest 3D printer on Amazon, plus, like I say, if it doesn't work it's going straight back

So I bought the cheapest 3D printer on Amazon (that was fulfilled by Amazon because the returns policy), it was one of those things where you just click buy without really thinking about it. It turned out to actually be an Anet A8, which I was not expecting, the instructions were surprisingly easy to follow I created a quick print last night (well, technically this morning as it was 4am by the time I had finished building it, peeling the plastic off took most of the time) and the quality of it was not as bad as I was expecting. I unplugged the printer and went to bed because I really don't trust cheap chinese things. And that was a good decision. I got up this morning and set a small print away, about 20 minutes in all was going well so I went to go and get some toast, while my toast was in the toaster being toasted all of the power went off. I never thought about it being the printer because the lights tripped as well, and normally only the sockets trip. So I go back upstairs anyway, unplug the printer, go back down and put the electric back on, get my toast and go back to the printer. I plug the printer back in and there was a rather large bang so I immediately unplug the printer. To be honest, I was fully expecting the power supply to be total crap but i expected the included one to at least last longer than 1 and a half prints. So now I have to wait another day for Amazon to deliver an upgraded power supply and try to convince them to give me a refund for the value of the power supply, which I fully expect to be able to get. While I was on Amazon I also purchased some mosfets for the hotbed and hot end, I was going to buy them anyway so now is a good a time as any. I'm going to get a new build surface, but I don't know whether to go for a Buildtak (or similar) surface, go with glass, or whether to just use masking tape. Anybody got any ideas, I'll probably be primarily printing in PLA if that of any help. If I start using ABS, I'll probably build a little cupboard to put the unit in to keep the temperature up as I know ABS can be a nightmare without an enclosure When I get it up and running, I'll start printing out some upgrades like extra supports for the frame and Z-axis. Is there anything else that would be recommended?

Hy to all of you reading this. Im currently thinking about building my own 3D printer... anyone with experience want to help me? I will attach a file with the electronic gear I plan to use. The main problem im facing right now is the frame.... there are no premade solutions on the internet so I was wondering what would be the best solution for making one myself. links 3d printer.docx

Hey guys! I have some buddy's who have 3D printer, and they're actually pretty neat. The thing is, I really don't have a dire need for one, but I could see it coming in handy every once in a while. This got me asking the question: Which 3d printer is cheap but doesn't suck? We've all heard of those $99 versions, but we also know those are useless. I'm not afraid to solder/assemble if that means saving some cash, since I do a bunch of that anyways. Comment your suggestions below! Thanks in advance for all your help!

Here are some pros and cons for the Flashforge creator Pro. Those that are bold are major points while the others are just supplementary. Pros Sturdy Design: For a cheaper 3D printer this design is very sturdy. In the world of 3D Printers, a sturdy design is key as this will greatly impact reliability. If the base design isn't sturdy then you'll be spending more time tweaking settings, leveling beds and tightening things up than actually printing parts. I've owned my printer for about 9 months now and I've leveled the bed 3 times and while I don't print daily, I do print quite often. Outside of the initial setup and those bed levels, I haven't had to tweak my settings at all. Print Quality: I've had a print made on an Ultimaker 2 and this machine's prints are pretty comparable in terms of quality. This is amazing for something that is in the sub $1k mark. The quality blows the cheaper 3D printer we used at work to experiment with 3D Printing, which is the Makerfarm Prusia i3v. Granted that printer is about half the cost, although it was more comparable in cost when we first got it. Ease of Use: There is some initial installation, but it's much easier to get started printing with compared to the kits. Beyond that, the sturdy design mentioned above makes maintenance something that is rarely done, which is just awesome. Honestly though, I have had regular printers at work that were higher maintenance than this 3D Printer and that says something! Dual Print Heads: I LOVE this. This greatly expands the capabilities of your 3D Printer, so far I've only used it for design purposes with separate colors but you could also use it with easily dissolvable print materials, conductive print materials, magnetic print materials and more! Heated Build Platform: This is pretty much a default on any printer worth its salt. Cons Narrow Build Platform: This is my biggest complaint! I really wish this unit had a larger build platform, the next two big negative points(Software and Print Surface) are something I easily overcame, this is a downside that's set in stone. The great quality and reliability of this printer really makes me want to test out larger prints. Software: Slic3r my previous software of choice to export prints to the printer doesn't work nicely with Flashforge due to it not using straight up Gcode like many printers. If you plan on printing a good deal, I think Simplyfy3D is a great investment. Print Surface: I really don't like the default surface, but that's because I always modify the 3D Printers I use to have a glass bed which is something that I have very good experiences with. If interested, I have a video on this. Filament Spool Holder: The filament holders included with the 3D Printer are not universal, so you may need to jig something up so that you can print a replacement holder that fits your filament of choice. If you shop on Amazon then I highly recommend Hatchbox. You can also check out my full Video Review. With LEDs Lighting On:

I got a prusa i3 kit for christmas, and finished building it yesterday. However, I have 2 issues when I try to print The stepper motors on the z axis grind randomly, mostly when going down (but not always), stopping the extruder from rising The printer always begins printing about 2cm above the bed. I've tried using cura 1.5 and the repetier software on win 7, but they both have the same result. The bed is definitely level. I've tried oil on the threads of the steppers, but it hasn't helped. I think adding something to the start gcode to lower the z axis might work? I don't know what to do about the steppers though.

I want to get a 3d printer my budget is 1000 and below ( with tax and shipping). I would like to get a really nice 3d printer to begin with nothing insane or super fancy just something that I can ease into and start slowly learning with.
-
Good morning! Recently, I've been wanting to get into 3D printing, and I'm waiting for my tax return to buy a printer to make tools and other things. There are plenty of options on the market from what I see, and I've been looking into a few affordable options for a starter printer. I've looked at the following options: Monoprice Select Mini 3D Printer V2 Monoprice Mini Delta 3D Printer Creality Ender 3 My current budget is approximately $200 (give or take a few bux) and I was wondering which of those printers has the best quality for the price. I'm planning on working mostly with PLA, and I would really appreciate advice from people who are experts in this subject. I'd also like to know what pros and cons you have for each if you own any of these. If you have any other recommendations for other printers, that would be appreciated as well. Thank you for reading this, and any help would be appreciated. UPDATE: I'm aware that filament will increase my price. I don't include it in my budget because I have a separate budget for that already (about $100). I also already included tax and stuff. All ~$200 is purely for the printer.

So i'm looking to build a 3D printer from scratch for as cheap as possible. I just thought I would make a post here if anyone had any ideas or tips that could help me. My end goal is to build a printer and then create an easy guide for anyone else who wishes to do the same.

Do you have any recommendations for a good 3D printer in the $150-$200 range? I am currently looking at the Monoprice mini select V2: https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Select-Printer-Heated-Filament/dp/B073ZLSMFT/ref=as_li_ss_tl?creativeASIN=B073ZLSMFT&imprToken=YZoCi8dlRZGKRopCuB2Fqg&slotNum=2&ie=UTF8&linkCode=w61&tag=insider04-20&linkId=e8a6fe635495fa5ea88022d291d790ea&th=1

Hello, So I have been playing with a printer I bought a couple of years ago and have never gotten to run properly. The printer is a Tevo Black Widow, with the BL touch auto bed leveling option. The printer has always had awful prints, with a bubbly/ rough texture that I have never seen before. I switched all of my slicing from slic3r to simplify 3D and the awful texture went away (even though I made all of my settings the exact same as what I had been running in slic3r?!) Anyway, now that the printer is running decently, I'd like to use it for some actual printing as its large build volume will be very handy in the near future. The only thing I am still having problems with is the auto bed leveling. I have used the auto leveling feature through the LCD, and I think this is what is messing up my first layer. The print will be printing a perfect first layer, then move the Z axis down and print way too close to the bed, then move back up for other parts of the first layer. I am wondering if there is an easy way for me to wipe all bed leveling data and tell the printer that the plate is "perfectly flat" to see if this will get rid of the issue before attempting to use the sensor anymore. Thanks in advance for the help!

So I have a tevo tarantula and I can't print normal objects but it prints vases amazingly. I use simplify 3d for slicing.

As the title says, I'm looking for a 3D printer that is within the $100-300 price range. It'll be my first printer so I have no idea what to look for.

Hi. I've been looking to buy a 3D printer for my local FTC ( some US citizens might know it) as sponsor, but I need to find something that is easy to setup and to service. They already had one that had some issues on mobo and their warranty was voided (the shop removed the warranty stickers when they wasn't able to fix it) and now I want to buy for them something that easy to find spare parts. They tried to buy arduino and RAMPS but they weren't able to calibrate it enough for decent prints. Even if they succeed a second printer would be helpful. So some suggestions with printers that are reliable and easy to service would be appreciated. The budget would be around 1200$ including tax.
