So I've been looking at graphics cards a lot lately for friends who are building PCs. One thing I've noticed is that... the sexy reference cooler AMD designed for the R9 3xx re-badges is NOWHERE to be found. sure there are the one off ones made by AMD themselves, but why are reference cards by companies like XFX still using the old design? Hello, all! I'm trying to build an AMD based SFF PC, for VR. (Node 202, Core 500, RVZ01 or RVZ02 were the cases I was looking at) So which High-End AMD cards do you think would work best in this situation? (I remember blower fans work better in small spaces) Thanks!

Hello all, I have an R9 390 I'm generally very happy with, performance is brilliant, however it does tend to get a little hot; especially when playing Witcher 3. One issue is definitely that I keep my room a little warmer than normal however that doesn't really account for it; the temperatures are 51-54C at idle, 78-84C in-game. I've included a photo to show what I think the issue might be. I'm using a Noctua NH-C14 at the moment which sits right in the way of both exhaust fans and also blows hot air down onto the motherboard leaving the hot air from the GPU with no-where to go (see attached photo). I was wondering whether changing the cooler to a Kraken x61 might improve the situation by at least a few degrees, do you think it might help? I want to go dual card when the 390 starts to get overwhelmed but I'm not sure that is sensible with these temps! Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok, so I have new computer build: GPU: AMD R9 390 CPU: Intel skylake 6600K PSU: XFX 550W MOTHERBOARD: MSI Gaming M5 RAM: Corsair vengeance 2133Mhz 8GB. When i play Battlefield 3 on ULTRA settings my fps is pretty low and i cant play it. I need to put my settings to high and disable all settings like AA and then i can barely play it(still lags) or when i play Fallout 4 and go inside house my fps drops a lot(This happens in any settings but in low settings its not so much) And when i go to the "Institute" my fps is around 30-40 inside the institute. Fps is stable 60 when im in wasteland but in city it drops 30-40. And when I play smite i have horrible performance I just cant play smite with this setup. And yeah i tried crysis 2 ULTRA it worked better than SMITE. When i play games I need to enable Vsync because if i limit my fps with Dxtory the game stutters A LOT. I can play games only with Vsync ON. In GtaV i get stuttering all the time with ultra and high settings. Please help! AfterBurner Gpu usage when i play Battlefield 3 and stopped playing Battlefield 3: https://gyazo.com/8ce69221acfe740af9c084e25f6a88d9 <- Look that Gpu usage And yeah I enabled unified GPU usage monitoring. Yes and i reinstalled GPU drivers 2 times. Help pls Update - Here is AB when i play Fallout4 near diamond city Vsync ON. https://gyazo.com/46f805abe25aa0cfc0025a32a046f723

I have a question to you guys. I want to buy a R9 390x card and I was going for a Sapphire card. But I live in Europe where the difference between a 390 and a 390x is about 130€. And I was wondering if the price difference is worth the product. Or should I just stick to the 390 and save my money?

Hey there! So I just recently updated my graphics drivers to the new Radeon Crimson software, and I'm noticing that my performance with my dual R9 390 rig is not as good as it should be. I'm wondering if others who have crossfire setups are noticing the same? My 3D Mark score is still as high as I would expect it, but my in-game performance is right around where I would get with a single R9 390. I'm assuming this is simply due to the nature of the brand new software, but I'm interested to find out if this is a common issue. My system: FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz Corsair H110i GT AIO Liquid Cooler Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 2x MSI Radeon R9 390 Crossfire Corsair RM1000i PSU Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD Kingston SSDNow 120GB SSD Fractal Design Define R5

So I heard that AMD will be selling R9 390's with 4GB of VRAM rather than the usual 8GB. My question is would it be worth to get the 8GB variant or the 4GB variant if I am only looking to game at 1920x1080

Hello there, I am scrounging the internet for a worthy power supply to put into my new build with a 4790k and a R9 390. Many people have said 650w is plenty for the 390. Please help me in deciding which one is best for gaming hours on end with those components. #1) Seasonic S12G 650W 80+ Gold: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-s12g650 #2) XFX TS 650W 80+ Gold: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1650gts3x #3) Antex EarthWatts Platinum 650W 80+ Platinum: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-ea650platinum Link to my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2bP8pg Yes they are all none modular power supplies because that is what has been recommended by all the people I have seen build in the case I will use (Fractal Design Node 304), if you are wondering why, it is because when mounted fan side down the cables will come out on a side that is not interfering with the GPU and modular power supplies have plugs that stick out and may interfere. I am personally leaning toward the Antec Platinum because of the high efficiency rating and how ever much money it could save me in the long run. Anyway, any help will be greatly appreciated with informing me if any of these are bad, good etc. Also if none of these "work" for any of you I will gladly take any suggestions. Thank you!

Hi everybody, I'm building my first serious Desktop PC and I would like to know you opinions about some of the items. 1. Budget & Location My budget is around $1400, my location is Europe, Hungary. 2. Aim My aim is to build a good all around PC, which can be used for gaming (e.g. Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor or the newest games at the time), browsing, watching movies, rendering RAW files in Photoshop, etc. 3. Monitors Currently I'm on a single monitor with 1920x1080 resolution, it's possible that I'll be using dual monitors in the future. 4. Peripherals I'm all set 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm using a Lenovo Y580, and it's time to migrate to a Desktop PC CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 CPU cooler: CRYORIG H7 Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-B150-HD3P RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-RAM 16GB PC4-19200 Kit SSD: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB WD10EZEX VGA: MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G 4GB or Sapphire Radeon R9 390 Nitro 8GB PCIe Case: NZXT Source 530 ATX Full Tower Case PSU: Seasonic SSR-550RM or EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GS 650W Thermal Compound: Arctic Cooling MX-4 Coolers: 2x Corsair AF140 (CO-9050009-WW) Total: ~$1170 I've looked into deeply all of the items in this list and now I'm indecisive about some of them, party because the reviews are so mixed. Lets start with the CPU, I'm not planning to do any overclocking (I don't have much experience in it, and I kinda wants stuff to perform out of the box, I'm too much used to BMW I guess), so that's why I chose a non "K" version, but I'm not sure if this is strong enough for this build. About the motherboard, same story, no OC, but still might need a little better. One of the areas where I'm the most confused at is the VGA department... should I chose between the R9 390 and the GTX 970 or save up for a 390X or even GTX980? Power supply, well what I'm looking for is a quality 550-650W semi or preferably fully modular PSU for a reasonable price. I've already ordered the CRYORIG H7 CPU Cooler because it's hard to get in Hungary and I have to wait a month to get it.

I just built a new system and I for some reason can't pass benchmarks without freezing on the second scene for Valley and on Heaven it's like 5 seconds in when it freezes... Valley - https://unigine.com/en/products/benchmarks/valley Heaven - https://unigine.com/en/products/benchmarks/heaven My System Intel i7-5960X 2 AMD R9 390's Crossfire Windows 10/7 Everything is stock and I can't figure out why I can't run these benchmarks... I can run them in DX9 (Not smooth though) I can't seem to run it in DX11 mode without it freezing. I have tried updating DX11 without success, please help.

Im looking at getting two r9 390's to crossfire but I dont know if my power supply can handle them both. Currently I have a EVGA's 850w super nova power supply which is the newest component in my rig, i'd rather not have to upgrade my power supply if I dont have to since its only a couple of months old.

I recently bought an R9 390 Strix and am trying to setup a small overclock. I have achieved a very slight overclock and want to do a benchmark, but the fan profile is driving me up the wall. It will not use the custom defined one I set in the Asus GPU Tweak II software. I tried to use Speedfan as well and that does nothing either, it stays in its auto profile even when set to user defined, I can set it to manual and put it at a straight percentage, but then its buzzing away without any load either. Right now it is using 0% until 60C, then 30% until 70C, then it slowly creeps up from 30% to 40% until it hits 80C. At 80C it just goes balls to the wall 100%, at 100% it cools more than enough and drops down to 79C and the fans drop to 40%, then it heats up to 80C and it goes back to 100% and keeps repeating this cycle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I am wondering if my MSI R9 270X is worth upgrading to an MSI R9 390. I play at 1440p and the 270X gets usually between 45-55 fps on high. I am wondering if the 390 is going to be a big performance difference or if I should just save up a little more and get a better card, maybe a 980 ti! I know most of you are going to say get the 980ti but I really want a new card that I don't have to spend every dollar I have on. My build is a i7-4790k at stock, an EVGA G2 850w, an an msi z97 gaming 5 mobo. Let me know if you need anything else! Thanks!

Hello guys I was wondering if the "black" edition of the xfx 390 is worth the extra 20 bucks? Other than the 50Mhz boast what else will I be getting

As far as I can tell the R9 390 performs better than the 970 most of the time, but I have no idea if my ultra-wide monitor will make a difference in the results. Im thinking about upgrading from my GTX 760 but cant decide on what to choose since these two are so close. Ive heard that the 970 has better drivers and runs cooler and quieter. On the other hand the 390 has much more vram and performs better on average. I want to play games at 60fps/high-ultra with my current resolution. Also, would more expensive cards be worth the $100-150ish jump for what im trying to achieve? (GTX 980, 390x) Additional Info: Processor: Intel i5-4690K (3.5ghz) Operating system: 64-bit Windows 10 Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI PLUS (MS-7930) Memory: Corsair 2x4 DDR3 Games I play/plan on getting: BF4, Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor, Farcry 4, Civ 5, Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4, GTA V, Rust, and ARK.

I'm starting my first build and I'm planning on going with an i5-4460 processor. I was planning on getting the Sapphire Nitro R9 390, but I realized that might actually be bottle-necked by the i5. That being said, I'm more than glad to spend less money on a cheaper GPU because my budget is pretty tight. Also, the monitor I'm using is only 1080 with a refresh rate of ~60hz so I'm not planning on going above 1920x1080 60FPS at least to start. So what card should I go with that will match an i5 and not outstrip it too far? Or should I not worry about bottle-necks? Some possible alternatives that I was think of were the 380 or 290. Any advice for a newbie?

Why is there such a big difference between the 290x and the 390x i thought it was only a few changes they made, but anyways i am happy i bought the 390x Here is the benchmark : http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/call_of_duty_black_ops_iii_vga_graphics_performance_benchmark_review,7.html

Hello guys once again I'm planning a new build for myself because I'll be giving my current pc to my brother after building this. I'm thinking of which 390 to get, the xfx black or the asus strix? Please give me your best opinion so that I could get this over with! Thanks a lot people

Hello LTT forum, I wanted to see if some of you could help me, my rig consists of i5 4690k R9 390 Sapphire 8g Kingston Fury Ram MSI Krait Mobo 64-bit Win 10 I've had this issue for a couple of weeks where my games crash shortly after started (only those who are actually demanding, so not for League of Legends but it does for Tomb Raider/Bioshock Infinite), is this happening to someone else? I'm fairly good at this kinda stuff but I can't seem to be able to fix this (already tried all the obvious fixes) If there's any info, is it related to drivers? or maybe something about program compatibility? I'm at a loss here any help would be awesome Thanks! NINJA EDIT: I'd also like to note that this problem is just with some games, I've already played all of Borderlands 2, Grid Autosport and Portal 2 with no issues

So, I am upgrading my monitor and gpu soon. Firstly, I want to get a 980ti but the monitor I can afford makes that less easy to commit to. I want an ultrawide but the only one I found around 500 with a better than 60hz refresh rate is the lg34um67: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-34UM67-34-Inch-LED-lit/dp/B00VBNQJSM/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1446183388&sr=1-1&keywords=lg34um67 So it has freesync, which I know nvidia won't support. I'm thinking I could get 390s in crossfire? Not as ideal as the 980ti, but at least I could utilize the freesync. Is freesync worth it, is there another ultrawide with gsync that isn't more than 550 usd? I guess my only other option would be to get a decent 16:9 monitor with gsync and a 980ti, but I was pretty excited about the ultrawide... Thanks in advance for the advice guys!

Hey everyone! So, I'll get straight to it. I'm looking into getting an ultrawide monitor, the LG 29UM57-P. It looks great for my needs, but I have one question: how well do you think my R9 390 will handle 2560x1080? I play Battlefront, Euro Truck Sim, Besiege, BeamNG.Drive and Elite: Dangerous. It's supposed to be just 30% more pixels than 1080p (what I currently game on) so I just want other opinions as to how well my existing GPU will run these games at this res at 2560x1080. Also: to those with ultrawides: how do you feel about them? I game and work at about a 70-30 ratio, how well does it work for games (immersion, etc.) and productivity (two big windows side by side, etc.)? Thanks guys!

So I've had an r9 390 xfx for about a month now and nearly every game I play my computer shuts down if I don't max out fan speeds. I can tell it's from overheating because my case can basically make eggs at the point. I don't know whether or not its my cpu (8320 stock fan) or (gpu 390.) Before I would play on an r7 250 with my 8320 and not experince any overheating issues and I'm curious as to whether its just my 390 or is my 390 making my 8320 overheat. My specs: FX 8320 @3.5GHz stock fans R9 390 8GB XFX Dual Dissipation 16GB DDR3 G.Skills RAM 650W Thermaltake psu
