Hi everyone, I just had a few questions. 1. Is there a big difference between a 3820 and a 3770k. 2. Can you overclock a 3820? 3. I was looking at socket 1155 (3570k), when a came across a brand new 3820 for less then a 3570k, would you bother with socket 2011 if i could get that cpu cheap? Reason why I ask this is that supporting parts are quite substantually more expensive. 4. Is there any performance gains from 2011 hardwarewise (RAM, Mobo) compared to 1155? I'm more into gaming then anything else with mild photo/video editing if that helps at all? Thanks, Hope you guys can help out!

I just ordered a Corsair 350D and a 780 today. I am looking to watercool both my 780 and 3770k(Already Own). I have 240mm rad that I am planning to put in the top of the 350D; also I'm going ordering a Alphacool UT60 by the end of this week. The problem that I am having is I'm having trouble finding Pump/Res is SMALL enough to no interfere with other parts. It can't be a bay reservoir because that is where I am going to put my SDDs and HDDs. I was thinking about a Aquacomputer Pump Adapter w/ Aqualis Reservoir and Pump (Link to it at the bottom); but it might be too tall. So, if I could please have your input on a pump and reservoir I would be much appreciative. Also, it could be a pump/res combo or just a pump and a reservoir. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/16994/ex-res-422/AquaComputer_Pump_Adapter_w_Aqualis_Reservoir_and_Pump_Installed.html?id=dXQ4Hj8v&mv_pc=1299

Hello community. I'm having a break from Minecraft to get my first post on this forum. I'm currently upgrading my system, with a fresh build; This is what i have so far; Hyper x beast 2400 16 gb ddr3 ram MSI Z77A-GD65 motherboard NZXT phantom 410SE (black) Sandisk extreme 120 gb(for OS, bringing from the old system) 2x intel 520 series 240gb ssd's (in raid 0 for the games i play the most) 2x Seagate Barracuda 3tb hdd's for media Corsair AX 760W PSU Intel CPU water cooler. What i'm left with is GPU(s) and CPU My plan was to start with a MSI GF GTX 660TI and then later add another 660ti, And for CPU i'm thinking of a Intel I7 3770k. What i wonder is if is it worth the extra money for that i7. I want to overclock the CPU, and i am very much a multitasker, Often having 10 tabs in one browser, and 20+ in another, and a copple of games running( I don't log off minecraft or Lol even if i go to play some bf3 or a total war game. Would it still be worth saving money and insted go for a say, i5 3570k or a i5 2500K (And how is it that the 2500k costs more than the 3570k? Allso, i'm not getting the fps i want out of my system, could i get a lot more from my old(few months old) AMD 7970 GPU card? Please ask if there is something that is unclear. And sorry for my bad English.

So, I have a new PC and I want to make it as good as possible. I have a coolermaster evo, only with the stocker coolermaster fan and the processor is currently clocked at 4GHz. I am going to add corsair sp fans in a push/pull configuration. I'm hoping to get 4.5 or higher. The RAM is RipjawsX@1333 but I want to clock it higher. My motherboard, G1 Sniper 3, says it supports 1066, 1333, 1600 then 2666. I can easily get 1600, but I am curious as to whether I can get 2666 to work. As it is there isn't much airflow in the case, but I'm hoping to fix that soon too with another 200mm fan

Hello guys! Help me to choose between 3930k and 3770k. Currently I'm using old Core 2 Quad and it's really time to upgrade. Is it worth having x79 and all its components (quad channel ram, 6 cores) ? I read that difference in 3ds max rendering is just 10-15%. Couple minutes more or less - it doesn't inspire me to spend that money on 6 cores. and another question: quad channel memory is good for renering? or difference is not noticeable at all? And of course i'm going to overclock CPU to 4,5 (at least). I'd like to hear reviews from people who really tested 3ds max rendering with both CPUs and can tell me real info, not opinions or guesses. Thank You!!!

hey folks im hitting about 75 *c while folding on my 3770k paired with a h80i around 44 ish *c idle, thse temps obviously aren't that great ... im not to worried about hitting 75 *c as i have some good headroom before i enter the danger zone, but i do wish that the temps were lower, and i probably wont be overclocking a whole lot .. heh yeah that's the thing .. im currently at stock speeds/voltages is this normal, or just a tad bit too high? possibly trying to change thermal paste and reseat the water block? currently got it mounted with the tubes top down but that really shouldn't be a problem?

hey guys just had a weird issue with my pc, i just started the new payday 2 game after downloading it and within ten minutes my screen flashed and then my graphics card was stuck at 405mhz and 0.917volts. which my standard is 940mhz at 1.18volts then i decided to restart to try and resolve my issue which was the presented with a plan blue screen with no writing on and crashed. i then pulled my card from the rig and tried on board all is fine. the weird thing is it blue screens once its fully loaded up and loaded up start-up items. im currently in the process of re-installing windows to see if i accidentally clicked the clock speed beyond 950mhz which is when it starts crashing my system. any ideas would be great, i have sent my problem to asus to see if i get a reply but probably not. system spec: sabertooth z77 i7 3770k 8gb corsqir veangance 1866 samsung 830 ssd 128gb os installed gtx 560 asus direct cuii oc edition corsair cx600 if it is the end of my graphics card looks like i have an excuse to upgrade to the 760 earlier than planned.

Hey! So I'm going to be building a new computer at the end of the month, and I was wondering about the CPU I should get. I want a Core i7, as I'll be doing more than just gaming - 3D animation, video rendering etc. But after having a look online, I can't find any concrete information comparing the two CPUs that I was considering - the Core i7 3770k and the Core i7 4770k. Which should I go for? Thanks guys.

I've been trying to overclock my i7 3770k Ivy Bridge, but I have been reaching 90 to 100 degrees load temp when I try anything past 4.2 GHz even though my vcore is only at 1.115 (between 1.090 and 1.130 yield similar temperatures). I'm using the Corsair H100i. I know that Ivy Bridge tends to be hot, but from others online, I've read that I should be able to reach 4.5 GHz while maintaining a 80-90 degree load temp with the H100i. I've run Prime95 and have gotten it to be stable up to 4.4 GHz, but 90+ to 100 temp seem way too high given the voltage. My idle temp is around 45 degrees when running at 4.4 GHz and vcore 1.115, but load temp is 99 degrees, flexs between 95-99. Is there something obvious I'm missing? I've tried increasing the fan speeds towards the radiator, but they seem to do little if anything. I'm considering about applying new thermal paste, maybe the preapplied paste wasn't cutting it or maybe replacing the H100i. The best temperaute I've gotten so far is 90-95 degrees at load at 4.4 GHz with a vcore of 1.125, but is only stable on prime95 up to 2 hours give or take. My goal is to get it to be around 80-85 degrees at 4.5 GHz or higher. I've heard that the H100i should be able to handle around 1.3-1.4 vcore without much of an issue, but I've been unable to obtain those numbers. Some advice would be appreciated. Specs: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Intel Motherboard Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5 GHz Cooler Master HAF 932 Case Corsair H100i Water Cooler I use Core Temp 1.0 RC5 and CorsairLINK2 to monitor my temperautes

Simple question, really: My 3770K is folding now alongside my 680 (which is running fine) but it estimates (pretty accurately by the looks of things) that one CPU WU will take over a day to complete. Is this normal? Or have I not set something up properly? All the cores are going at full tilt and hyper-threading is enabled. I've Googled this to oblivion, but not found anything. Just want to be sure I'm not short changing myself and making sure the question is asked for anyone else with the same question in the future. Thanks guys

I have an H100i and have been using it for about 7 months. It's running NFF12s at 1000RPM in pull, yet my CPU temperature is 85-7C when running prime95. My CPU is a 3770K at 4.5Ghz (100 base, 45 multi). Is this ok/normal or are these temperatures vastly wrong for an H100i? I also think that I applied way too much thermal paste, so that might be the problem (if there is one)

I have a shuttle pc. H77 with a 3770k at stock speeds with 8GB of 1600 mhz ram and I'm looking for the most powerful single slot card I can find. I'm not worried about price just want the most performance I can have. Also needs to have HDMI cause it will be used on my tv. Plan to play some games on it but not too many, and 3D/1080p movies all the time. I know the shuttle pc has a smaller PSU in it so ill change it if need be, or if possible. Thanks for the help.

Hello, I have found out that my processor i7 3770k does not support my Kingston Hyperx Predator memory. How is this even possible? When I bought it, I just checked that the motherboard supports it and went on with that info, but now I have had some stability issues and I think i found the culprit. My memory: http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/khx24c11t2k2_8x.pdf Supported memory for my cpu: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/core-i7-memory-suppliers-0412-datasheet.pdf Is my ram really the problem here? What if I just put like the same timings, voltage and frequency as the supported ram, why wouldn't that work? thanks for any advice!

So I am very big into computer building and the latest technology, but there is one more thing I want to do besides watercool. I want to Overclock! To me though this is one thing that sounds scary and I'm probably going to purchase Intel's overclocking insurance for me 3770K. My motherboard is a Asus P8p67 B3 rev. and I have an Antec 920 H20 so I'm ready to go. However with overclocking I don't just want to overclock my CPU like a monkey, but I want to learn what it all actually is so I have the skills to overclock any CPU, especially new release ones that no one has yet and there is no manual. So is there a guide on how to overclock anything! If someone could link one in the post here I would be ecstatic, and hopefully this week I'll be a bronze or silver member too! Thanks you so much guys, I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Compared to an AMD phenom II x6 1100t cpu @4Ghz, how much better is the Intel i7 4770k? Since getting beta access to stean in home streaming i tested on my brothers 3770k rig and it feels like it performs better.

Hey Guys, I overclocked my Intel Core i7 3770K to 4.5 Ghz with my Noctua NH-U14S. All runs stable but i need very high voltage like 1.425V. When I go to 1.4V I get a bluescreen that sais that I have to increase my voltage. I copied all the settings from this guide: http://www.overclock.net/t/1291703/ivy-bridge-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboards Do I have a bad CPU? Thank you for all replies. FreshTube

Hey, i have pretty good computer (My spec's: 2x 660ti in sli, 1000 watt PSU, 16 gig vengence pro series ram clocked at 1866 MHz, z77 gd65 and a i7 2600) as you see i couldn't hurt to get a new CPU and i wonder what i should do? Should i get a 3770k and overclock it or should i get a diffrent motherboard and a 4th generation haswell CPU? I also don't know if my PSU have enough watt to overclock and overvolt my cpu. I could really use some help.

Okay, so after about two months of building my rig, I decided to go into CPU overclocking. I started by using CPU level up, which took my CPU up to 4.6 GHz but was extremely heavy handed on the voltage, bumping it up to 1.350v. After much validating and booting to bios I managed to decrease the voltage to 1.240v tested under 7 hours of AIDA64. I'm unsure of how low that is, but I've heard that it's pretty good for Ivy Bridge. (I was getting an average of 70 celcius on hottest cores, 64 on coolest) I tried going down to 1.235, and only had time for a 2 hour test. I went into playing a few hours of battlefield, and after what must have been 3-4 hours I got a STOP error and my PC restarted, so I moved the voltage back up to 1.240. Can anyone tell me what's going on? I need help!

I currently have a 3770k cpu, with that I have Asus P8H61-MX motherboard. Should I be getting a better motherboard so I can overclock the beast or wait for a new CPU. Might be a very stupid question but how well does the 3770k compare to next gen consoles? Will it still be a beast of a CPU for gaming when next gen games come out?

Hi everyone! I have just finished my second personal build and my first liquidcooling build. It's been a work in progress for three moths now, not all the components are new, as my very first build was just over one year ago now and I didn't feel the need to replace all of the components so I just carried them over from my old system. The components that where carried over are the motherboard (asus maximus v formular), cpu (intel 3770k) and RAM (corsair XMS 2000mh/z DDR3). The new components are the WD red drive, samsung 128gb 840pro, NZXT HUE lighting and 2xtitans in sli (windforce editions). This first picture was the first of the new components that I bought, I bought them both at the same time and they turned out to be the things that caused me the most trouble. I took them out of the package, ran them for an hour to see if they were defective and they both worked fine so as I bought the windforce editions, once I had done that, I took them out to replace the stock cooler to the windforce cooler. This was before I had got my new case, ssd or hard drive so the next pic is of them both in my old system, I had spent a good month or so sleeving all the cables in my old system and I did go on to use the same psu in my new system as sleeving takes a very long time! I also decided to start sleeving during my GCSE exams which was probably a bad idea As you can see my old HAF case wasn't the nicest looking case in the world. later that night I was playing Far Cry 3 and my system crashed, I hadn't overclocked the graphics cards yet so I wasn't expecting it. I tried to reboot my computer but it did nothing at all, I knew that something had to be shorting out and I thought it was probably my cables. after about an hour of trouble shooting, I finally tired taking out the bottom graphics card and the system turned on. I came to the conclusion one of my titans was dead, after a lot of swearing and hitting things, I looked at the warranty and it did cover replacing the cooler. I took it back to scan the next day, they confirmed it was defective and sent it off for a replacement, while I was there, I bought my new case which is a corsair 540d and the HUE lighting. The next pic is of the graphics card config I was running while I was waiting for the replacement and what it looked like when I transferred everything over to the new case. As you can see, not the most optimal configuration. five weeks later after calling scan ten times and emailing gygabyte I finally got a replacement titan sent, I went to pick it up from scan and this was when I bought the 128gb samsung 840pro. I checked the replacment was working and then replaced the cooler and installed it into my system, finished sleeving the extra pci-e power cables that I needed going from the 690 to titan sli and then installed it into my system and this was the configuration I was running for about two month before I decided to liquid cool a few weeks ago. As I said before, I recently decided to liquidcool a few weeks ago but I didn't do it all in one go, I first bought the res (phobya 150 black nickel), rads (EK-CoolStream 40mm PE 360 & 240), tubing (Clear primochill) and the SP120 QE fans. I fitted what I could of the cooling at the time as I only had half the components. I had to bend the right brive bag in order to fit the tripple rad in the front, meaning I moved the ssd to the back compartment of the case. two weeks later, I had the money to get the rest of the components. I got the cpu block (EK Supremacy Nickel frosted plexi glass) , gpu blocks (EK-Titan-SE Acetal + Nickel clear plexi glass), Backplate (EK titan SE black backplate), Pump (Alphacool D5 variable speed), pump top (EK D5 X TOP), EK Blood red premix, 6x phobya Compression fittings, 4x phobya 90 degree fitings, 4x phobya 45 degree fittings and a few dust filters. As soon as I got back, I began the 4 hour fitting stage. I began by fitting the pump top and then installing the pump into the case using good old velcro. I then cracked on with the graphics card waterblocks, I took a few "glamour shots" of all my old air cooler for the titans while I was fitting the waterblocks. Windforce cooler close ups. Reference titan cooler close up. GTX 690 close up. days of air coolings past. The waterblocks took about 40 mins each as I cut out all thermal pads for the 24 memory chips separately but other than that, installation was easy, nice instruction from EK! I then installed the CPU block which was again very easy to do and finished all my tubing runs. I unplugged everything but the pump from the psu, layed down some newspaper and started to fill the loop. All went well, now leaks but lots of air bubbles which took a very long time to get out as I had everything in the least optimal position for getting air bubbles out (triple rad was upside down and I was using the inlet as an outlet on the cpu block so no runs crossed over). I did eventually get all the bubbles out and then left it on overnight to leak test. woke up, nothing had leaked so I powered on the system and everything was A OK! I managed to get my titans upto 1084mh/z and +400mh/z on the memory in game thanks to gpu boost 2.0 which gave me a 13% performance increase in heaven vs my air cooled overclock and this performance increase was about 10% in game. However the performance increase isn't the best bit of watercooling, it was the noise difference. I'm running all my fans at 800rpm and getting temps of 60C max on the top gpu and 55C max on the bottom gpu even with this massive overclock. I'm also able to run the pump at 50% speed and still get great flow, this all adds upto me hardly being able to hear it. It looks sick too, in the night shot above it comes off a lot darker then it actually is so I'll try and get a better night shots with a better camera soon. The 3770k I have isn't a very good overclocker, with the RAM running at 2000mh/z, I'm able to get it upto 4.2gh/z@1.185v but that's as high as it goes with temps at about 70C. The only issue I have is the 90 degree at the bottom doesn't look that great at the tubing comes out at a funny angle to it so I'm going to be replacing it with a 45 degree soon. I'm sorry that the pics aren't of the best quality, I took them on my phone and wasn't planning to do a build log so I'll upload some "glamour shots" taken with a better camera to this thread soon! Also, I'll upload some screen shot of overclocks, benchmark results and in game fps when I get time.

Hello fellow gamers, geeks and enthusiasts . I usually had pre-built desktop PC-s which I later modified and upgraded but, there's not much you can do if the basis are crappy mobos and small cases, so I decided to build my own rig from scratch. So i have been running my computer for 6 months or so. It is watercooled and has been working great. The problem is the temps on the core. I was never having this issue until today so it's most likely not the mount of the waterblock. One of my cores is running 10 degrees C hotter than all of the others. I am not to converned because i am really not using it for anything hardcore anymore, just wondering for a fix if this becomes a bigger problem in the future.

I already have my loop and know for a fact I'll be switching some stuff out this Christmas as well as adding a waterblock to my r9 290. I've heard one 240mm just will not do the trick and will make my CPU numbers worse. But I shouldn't need more than 2x 240mm rads, right? I could probably fit another 140mm radiator, but I'd rather not have to spend money there and get a new cpu block and some fancy fittings instead. I'm budgeting about $300, so I should be able to grab the 290 block, a 55mm x 240mm radiator for the top (EK radiator) some 45 degree fittings, and a new CPU block. So should I compromise some things, or do you more experienced water coolers think 2 x 240mm rads will be sufficient for just a single GPU and a 3770k (@4.4ghz)? I was looking around the forum, and just didn't find a satisfying answer. I'm very new here, so I'm sure there are some older threads out there with a similar question. Sorry if this is an annoying duplicate, but I did look first before posting.
