Hello everyone! I've been here a while, but only now did I want to ask a question. I have a PC with an i5 2400 and I was wondering if it is worth it to find a 3770K (Most powerful LGA1155 CPU) or a 2600K/2700K (Most powerful Sandy Bridge CPU) so that I can revive my build? I've been planning it for a while but I'm having trouble finding second opinions. Many thanks!

I have a 3770k overclocked to 4.4Ghz and I’m planning on getting a 2080 super when it comes out. Assuming that the leaked specs of the 2080 super are true. How badly will my 3770k be bottlenecked. I game at 1440p (monitor goes up to 165 hz) and 4K (60 hz). So will upgrading to a 2080 super impact gaming performance at these resolutions ????

Hi everyone, I'm stuck with what is a better option. I have a i7 3770k 16 gb ddr3 2400 ram gtx 670 in a z77 sabertooth mobo. My question is should i just upgrade the graphics card, hoping to get more years out of it. Or do i go the route of a new mobo, ram, cpu and graphics card. I know I could get a better graphics card and call it a day. Which would save a tone of money. Was curoius if i went that route. How many years am i getting out of the other components besides the graphics card ? I was thinking of getting a gaming laptop if i end up upgrading completely. Any suggestions ? I really do love the thermaltake battle edition case. Would hate to see it go to waste, if I went the laptop route. But sometimes its nice not to be stuck at a desk all day when I get home from work.

I`m Currently looking to upgrade my current setup. I do stream games with a dual pc setup. I`m Currently looking at upgrading in 2 phases,1 CPU/RAM(16Gb 3200Mhz)/Motherboard/NVME SSD and then I was either looking at a new 1080/2070 or even a used EVGA 1080TI. My plan is to use my old 3770k as the streaming pc instead of the FX 8350 and to give my 1060 to my Girlfriend who is running the same 3770k but with my old 660TI. Now my problem is I`m not sure what to upgrade to. I was either looking at the I9-9900k or the I7-9700k. I do intend to keep the CPU for quite a long time (had the 3770k since 2013). I have a triple monitor setup(3x24") but only game on the middle one. It only does 1080p @120hz but at the moment I can only realistically game at 60FPS. I`m wondering if I get the 9900k I might not even need to use a dual stream setup. I read online and most people say that the 9900k is not worth the money and wait for the 10nm chips to come out. Want to get CPU: Intel I9 9900K/ I7 9700K Cooler: CORSAIR HYDRO SERIES H100i v2 (Edit) Mobo: ROG-STRIX-Z390-H-GAMING (Should i go with the Z390-E instead ?) Mobo: GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS PRO (Edit) RAM: G.skill TridentZ RGB 2X8 3200Mhz GPU: 1080/2070/(Used 1080TI) PSU: Not sure yet but probably some 800W+ 80+Gold Current gaming rig CPU : Intel I7 3770k @4.5Ghz Mobo: MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming RAM: 16GB (2x8) kingston hyperx fury 1600Mhz GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 Mini Current capture rig CPU : AMD FX 8350@4.9GHZ Mobo: Gigabyte - GA-970A-UD3P RAM: 8Gb kingston hyperx fury 1600Mhz GPU: MSI GTX 760 Any help would be appreciated. I currently have the RAM Mobo CPU in my newegg cart ready to checkout and was about to checkout.

Hello all, Well, I'm still using my current setup, but it seems my GPU was semi fried by my PSU :/, i'm starting to get malfunction in other areas like my hard disks. Not sure if is getting old or what . Anyway I'm going to replace my video card and psu in a few weeks. I do a lot of: Web Coding Editing Videos 1080p (Premiere) I do rarely 4k, but I have edited a few clips and my pc struggled. Photoshop (heavy layers) Lightroom (bad software design, runs slow in super heavy computers) Basic Gaming (overwatch, Witcher 3) Current Setup (2012) 600W PSU (rip) I7 3770k 3.8ghz (77max TDP) (2012) 16 GB Ram DDR 3 Nvidia GTX 960. (rip) Samsung Monitor full HD 1080p 65 hz 1 SSD 128 gb Windows 10 2x HardDisk 500 GB for cache/render and the other for extra storage it's a bad timing because I don't have enough budget to buy my master race pc of my dreams. But I might have $700 up to $800 usd. Buying in the US. Maybe I would just buy CPU and MOBO then other eventually. thanks

Hi! So my brother is having some troubles with some of his USB ports on his PC. Both USB 2.0 and 3.0 are affected by this. In "Device Manager" there's a tab called "Unknown devices". I can see 2 USB controllers under the tab with an exclamation mark on them. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Things I've tried to fix the issue: - Updated the BIOS to the latest one. I've also checked within the BIOS to see if the USB ports are missing, they are not missing. - Installed latest USB drivers and chipset for the motherboard. - Going into "Device Manager" and click on "Install drivers" for the USB controllers under the "Unknown devices"-tab. Mainly tried the "find driver online" option, but Windows can't find one. - Uninstalling the USB controllers in hope for Windows to correctly install the proper drivers without any luck. Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V Pro CPU: Intel i7 3770k OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Hey people, I just got an aio (cooler master seidon 240V) for the first time yesterday in hope of dropping my cpu temps from mid 70s to 80s on air down a bit. After installing it i booted up my system and with nothing else running im running around 40 to 50C once i started up cinebench r15 my cpu started hitting the 90s and i stopped the benchmark. i ran a 4.2Ghz overclock on 1.2V. i took off the overclock and am sitting in chrome right now with about 30tabs and my temps are around 60C. So far i reseated the block reapplied thermal paste i touched the pipes it feels like water is running through them but im not sure, the indicator light is on though. Did i maybe get a fulty product ? Im usually of the opinion the error is most of the time in front of the machine not inside, sooo. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot in advance!

I'd actually like to provide some quick context: My specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k @ 4.20 GHz (85°c full load, 41°c idle) GPU: EVGA GTX 780 6GB SC Edition Memory: 16GB 4x4GB 2400MHz DDR3 Mobo: MSI GD-65 z77a Gaming I have been running stock everything for around 5-6 years now. I purchased all these parts new, back when they first released. I have not touched my system, never OCed, never installed aftermarket fans or anything. Basically, I wanted to upgrade my PC via overlocking (even if it is a small difference, I was bored and curious primarily), so I decided to delid my CPU, purchase a water cooler (Corsair h100i v2), and scrape off that old crumbling TIM. And that's just what I did (AND MORE!), I installed a h100i v2, delidded by CPU, resealed it, installed new case fans (3 instake, 2 passthough, 3 exhaust + 240mm rad with double 120mm exhaust), used liquid metal on both my CPU die, and my h100i v2 (I know not to use it on aluminum), and I boot and find.... my temps are not that good... at all. I overclocked to 4.20 GHz, and I idle at 41C and 85C during AIDA64 stress. I have no idea what I could have done wrong. Any ideas? Some more info: I used RTV silicon sealant on my cpu to reseal the IHS. I left the IHS under pressure of a clamp provided by rockitcool for 17 hours to let it cure and dry. Here is the thermal compound I used on my CPU die and IHS to heatsink contact: see here Oh, and something I still plan on doing is getting some thermal paste (non metal) and reapplying on my GPU die... since it's probably all dried up and crumbled away by now... EDIT: I know, I know, you don't even really need more than 3 fans ever, but it looks cool. Also, it appears that my CPU runs at 4.2GHz non-stop? Is this normal?

So my 3770k is now 5 year old, and going strong on 4,4gHz. But yet it's time to upgrade. So I ordered 8700k, Asus TUF Z370plus Gaming, 2x WD black 512gb M2 PCIe SSD, Barracuda PRO 10tb, HyperX Fury 32gb, and a 1070Ti Rog strix. Will also keep my WD red 4tb. I have a Corsair RM 850w and a 550w, Will I need all the 850w? Or should I give the 850 to my kid with the 3770k and a R290? As the Fractal Define R6 is not completely white, I will keep my R5. But I also want a Corsair Carbide Air 540 in white, but not in stock. And I guess my H100i will cool the cpu just fine. Or should I upgrade to newer?

Im having trouble getting my system to hold a consistent 120fps at 1080p on higher settings, especially in newer games with some dropping down near 80. Right now im running a i7 3770k @ 3.5GHz and a gtx 1070. Would upgrading the cpu to a 7700k/8700k give any noticeable improvements to the framerate. Edit: im running with a 1080p 144hz gsync monitor

So I delidded my 3770k to get around the horrendous TIM Intel started using after they stopped soldering their dies with Ivy Bridge. Long story short I have had to re-open and reapply the TIM 5 times now just messing around and testing because for whatever reason, though very few other people seem to have this issue, my temps skyrocket back up to and sometimes higher than stock TIM levels after just a couple days. The last time I reapplied it I noticed that there was barely any TIM on the die, it was mostly around the edges, despite my very deliberately spreading out a thin layer right on the die and making sure the whole thing was covered. Has anyone else run into issues like this? At this point I'm ready to put a spacer or something in there to stop my cooler from pressing the IHS on too hard.

Hey guys, i am running with : CPU : i7 3770k M/B: Z77a-G43 RAM : 16 GB 1600mhz GPU : 1080 GTX I mostly play on my TV which is 1080p, and it's pretty enough for me, is it worth upgrading The cpu, MB and RAM ? I dont see any bottlenecking with this PC

So my battlefield rig is having issues with bf1. Thought the patches fixed the game but that only made it a difference on my other rig. All cores are pegged at 100% for almost all maps. Still quite playable though. Finding my CPU overclock aren't as stable as I though, getting bsod or what ever windows 10 does when it crashes or the game quits working. Cpu is at 4.5 as I don't know enough about oc'ing to make 4.6/7 stable. Set my frame limit to 100 helps a bit. Graphics are at ultra and scaling at 150, don't want to go much higher as it gets laggy. Dx12 is even worse in every way. Cards start to slow down on some maps even with the frames capped at 120 with seems to me the limit the CPU can do. Any options left?

Do you guys think buying a used i7 3770k for 150 euros is a good deal? I don't know how much the cpu was used, the seller doesn't specify it. I don't know if I could bargain the price down a little bit, but maybe I will try if I can. New 7700k's are going for more than 300 euros here and 8700k's for over 400..

Hello I have a 3770k at 4.5ghz with a r9 290 and I will be upgrading to a vega card. I haven't entirely decided which one at this point but I am leaning towards the 64. I have a 144hz 1440p freesync monitor and I mostly game with a little bit of content creation. Would it be worthwhile upgrading the cpu/mb/ram to a ryzen 1700 or 8700k or should I hold on till zen+/cannonlake? Thanks!

So I was forced to use numbers spare rig for about 4 days or so. Played bf1 again as cod is dead. I know they released some patches that improved things such as the high gpu usage. 1440p, ultra preset, dx11. CPU on xmp profile. 4.22ghz or so. Stable at 4.5 but I don't run it there anymore. You can clearly see the usage in the pic, game runs flawless as it should, 120-90 fps average. Been told by the experts on here that theres something wrong with my pcs in order to have high usage. So what's the problem exactly?

I have a Intel Core i7 3770 at 3.5GHz. I do video editing and gaming, do you think I should consider a CPU upgrade, if so, what?

i have been tinkering around with my system and seeing just how much my already beastly i7 3770k can do. after a good rad cleaning yesterday i decided with my temps back to there normal lows to try for 4.8Ghz because i was fairly confident it would hit it. i was rite. with a +0.060V offset it was perfectly fine running 4.8Ghz. i even got a new high score of 874cb on cinebench R15. my only concern is the voltage it was running to achieve that. at max it was 1.312V -1.336V. i did a run with the offset at only +0.050V and it seemed to work perfectly fine. seeing as it was late i didn't stress test it for longer than 5 mins in Aida64. i have always thought that 1.350V was the max "safe" voltage. but even running that all the time would degrade the life of your CPU. the only thing keeping me from trying 4.9Ghz is the fear of blowing my CPU which is unimaginable. secondary is temps. i notice at 1.336 volts my temps seemed to spike. it could be an error though as my heater kicked in and my door was closed. i will probably be making some sort of follow up post to this so likely further testing will be done. i want to know once and for all from all of you. what do you consider the absolute safe limit voltage wise? is 1.350V really the limit at which you should stop? also what is the voltage recommendation for ivy bridge specifically? i look forward to all of your guys feedback and i will try to be active in the comments. please only serious answers. as always thank you for reading and have a nice day

Hello All, I've been reading the forums, I'm barely new on building pcs. My current setup is a: I7 3770k 3.8ghz (77max TDP) 16 GB Ram Nvidia GTX 960. Samsung Monitor full HD 1 SSD 128 gb Windows 10 2x HardDisk 500 GB for cache/render and the other for extra storage. I use my computer for video editing (premiere pro), graphic design and photography (heavy photoshop and lightroom) editing and I play a lot Overwatch and The Witcher 3 on my freetime. A family member wants to buy my current system and I think I want to use that money to get a similar system I'm not a hardcore gamer but I'm doing more multimedia and content. I saw the ryzen setup would be interesting because of the multicores but I'm not sure if i should go to the AMD way. Would be worth on get those 1700x? if not I was thinking a new i7 6700k or i7 7700k going from i7 3770k is like 20% and 30% faster so probably I can save some money going with the 6700k. with these two options or ryzen. what motherboard would recommend me? I want to overclock but I would wait a few months to get enough money to buy a good cooler. But I want to have a decent mobo probably not the top of the line. What series of motherboards would be a good choice? Should I get a mobo for the 6700k that can handle later a 7700k or 8700k proof wise? i would plan to edit some 4k footage but not yet. Also what kind of ram i should use for these probably new configurations? edit: This place is awesome, so let's see. It seems it would be better to go for a Ryzen Setup for my needs. The 1700. Budget is $700 I can keep the Nvidia GTX 960 2gb. I would like to stay at least with 16 gb Ram.

So I have an i5 2500k in my build currently, but I would like to have an i7 in it for the extra power in games and the design work I do for my business. I also have a Z77 board and 16gb of RAM, so supporting the 3770k shouldn't be a problem, however, I heard that Ivy bridge got really crappy thermal solution, and that it really puts a bottleneck on overclocked performance. So I'm really asking two questions. 1. Is it worth it to upgrade from an OCed 2500k to a 3770k? and 2. Will I have to delid the 3770k to get a noticeable performance boost? Is it worth the work involved? Thanks guys.

Hello, Im just wondering if it is worth the upgrade from my 3770k @5 GHz to a 7700k. Or should i wait for something even better. Here is my system https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SultanOfAwesome/saved/swJ9TW

Hi guys, Intro: I'm an pc enthusiast that haven't been following the latest tech for a while, I usually only search for it when I need it. I have costumed built my pc back in 2012 that unfortunately was boxed for one year and an half (new small home, my laptop fulfilled my needs). Now I have some problems with my laptop cooling system and while I'm solving it, I have found the need to unboxit. Some problems I had: On my computer last months, back in 2014, I was starting to have some recurring issues that pointed all to my graphics card. I have run in to a couple of blue screens and as I recall, it mentioned something related to the graphics hardware. Sometimes, when I booted the pc up, I would get a couple of beeps and no boot. I found out that pushing the graphics up helped it. So, a couple of days ago, I have unboxed it, clean it and make sure everything was alright and I have run in to the same beep/noboot problem, At this moment I notice that my graphics board have the form of an wave (pics if requested), lol, I can assure you there was no impact damage so I can only guess the board didn't handled the gravity over the years well. It's currently working fine, but I assume that sooner of later she will give me big problems and I will have to replace it either I want it or not. If you made this far, I'm always curios to know what you think about this issue, why this happens, and why the board have bend. Due to this, I'm thinking in doing and upgrade! TLDR; So this is my rig: 2 of Crucial CT256M4SSD2 256GB M4 SSD (raid0) plus some couple of hdds for backup and stuff. 1 of Corsair CMPSU-650TXV2UK Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 High Performance 650W Power Supply 1 of Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77X-UD5H Motherboard 1 of Sapphire 11200-00-20G HD7850 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card 1 of Corsair CWCH100 Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance CPU Cooler 1 of Intel 3rd Generation Core i7-3770K CPU (4 x 3.50GHz, Ivy Bridge, Socket 1155, 8Mb L3 Cache, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0) GSkill 16GB (4 x 4GB)1600Mhz DDR3 Ripjaw X Series Memory with Intel XMP I don't think any part of my pc needs an upgrade except for my graphics card that could use the reform. I have found this graphic card that is within my price range, <€300 XFX Radeon RX 480 OC Edition 8GB GDDR5 - http://moddingworld.pt/loja/index.php?id_product=76009&controller=product But since I am no guru on hardware, I'm looking for opinions, on what I should get, and if you know of any kind of incompatibility with my rig. I have seen a lot of this rx480 and I don't get whats the difference between all the different brands besides the price. I think I understand they are all tuned different, but I ask my self, does it really matters? What I use the pc for: I need to be able to play poker across 3 monitors, and I like gaming as much as anyone else, although that if it wasn't for the bent issue, I didn't expect to change my rig up until at least 2 years from now. I also like to experiment with gaming recording and video editing, although this has never been an priority for me, I mostly do it because I can hehe. Sorry for any grammar errors, as you may have guessed it English is not my native language. I'm looking forward to ear from you, hardware gurus. Cheers from Portugal.
