Hello I am currently upgrading my gaming pc. But i can't decide what graphic card. I will buy myself a 3440x1440 Monitor. What would be better a gtx 980 ti (gigabit gaming extreme) or 2 ASUS GTX 980 STRIX in sli? Are there other Cards that would do better? Regards

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade to a 980 ti soon and wanted some advice. I'm really interested in ultrawide monitors, and since I'd be getting a 980 ti, figured I should go with atleast 1440. However, I'm worried that a single 980 ti might have troubles with such a a high resolution. At the same time, I've heard that if you have a g-sync monitor, there's no need to be at 60fps+ all the time as sometimes 40-50fps w/g-sync looks better. My main question is: using that gpu and monitor, will I be able to have a smooth gaming experience? specific gpu: EVGA 980 ti SC+ ACX 2.0+ w/BP http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YDAYOK0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=GPL71Q4H5Y90&coliid=I2CWC1XIWVWAGL&psc=1 specific monitor: ASUS PG348Q http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C83BE6U/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=GPL71Q4H5Y90&coliid=I1CEBUG4881VXV Also, if this post is better suited for Displays fourm, just tell me and I'll post it there. Thanks!

I'm going to build me a PC never done it. I'm a little clueless and I wanted to learn more about building a PC and all the components. I have a MSI GTX 980ti graphics card. I want to run 2 34'' Ultrawide Monitor 3440x1440 res. Will this work and if not what could I do?

Hey everyone. I'm going to get right down to the point. I'm looking to get a 3440x1440 ultrawide, but I'm not sure how much benefit the 100hz and gsync would be for world of warcraft. That's honestly the game I play most and wanted to ask if I will see big difference using the Acer x34 / PG348Q over a 60Hz LG or Dell ultrawide.

EDIT: a follow up question: ppl with predator x34's: do you think that 100Hz panel is enough for competitive shooters like CS:GO? Have you had problems with hud scaling while gaming? If you have had IPS non gaming panels: is the color reproduction on the x34 as good as a "normal" IPS panel or does it miss something (measurement by eye, I can find the numbers in da internets) Sup peeps! (Small note: I'm looking for experience from both sides of the fence so sorry to say but commenting like: "I dream of ultrawide so buy it" isn't really helpful, but if you have valid arguments with reasoning for either side of the fence, feel free to share your thoughts.) So everything else is set in my upcoming rig: The specs (I7 6700k, 980 Ti, 16Gb 3000Mhz DDR4, 512gb NVMe SSD, 8TB RAID 6 NAS enclosure and other various bits and pieces), theme color has been chosen (love my nvidia green), ways to mod my case to suit my needs... BUT just yesterday I spotted the ASUS PG348Q 3440x1440 G-sync ultrawide. Earlier I had my mind set on PG279Q but now I'm at a loss. I game quite a lot on my free time; CS GO, BL 2, new triple A titles, pretty much every category of games. In a normal work week I clock about 25-35 hours minimum into games. On the other hand I'm a semi pro photographer so a good IPS panel Is a must to guarantee the quality of the end result. My editing workflow can't be the weak link here. This gear will actually produce me income so in a way I can't just go with my heart and buy the 279Q without thinking this through. Some would say that then why not just buy 2 monitors with 1 being IPS ultrawide and another one 144Hz gaming monitor. Although I could muster up the needed moolah with couple extra months of working, the matter of the fact is that I simply don't have the desk space for 2 big monitors so it's either or. Before this I've had this HORRIBLE Benq G2222HDL 21,5' TN panel so either one of these monitors will be a HUGE upgrade, but I've read so many articles praising ultrawide that now I'm wondering if I'm willing to spend 550€ (about $600 USD) extra on a format that I've never experienced with my own eyes let alone done gaming with it. 16:9 would be a safe bet and as the screen real estate would grow more than 75%, it makes me wonder whether I really do need EVEN MOAR pixels. Keep in mind that I have never experienced the high end gaming monitor features like 120/144/165Hz, g-sync, ULMB or anything other worth mentioning so on my mind I'm hungry to see what it's truly like to sit in front of a good gaming monitor. On a side note the 348Q is rumored to have the same panel as the X34 predator so there is a monitor where you can compare it in terms of the actual panel quality. So what I would like to know from anyone who has experience with WQHD (so 2560x1440) and 21:9 3440x1440 curved in both gaming and professional work; What would you take into account when choosing a monitor besides the info that I've given you? How does Adobe's Lightroom and Photoshop scale in ultrawide? Does the extra screen real estate add truly mindblowing satisfaction to your workflow? How about gaming performance; is it distracting with the black bars? Is the jump from 100Hz to 165Hz worth it to give up some pixels and a curved screen? And not forgetting games that support 21:9: does your willy do the happy dance hard enough to pay the extra 550€ ($600 USD) for the experience? Would you rather have 165Hz WQHD G-sync IPS panel or 21:9 3440x1440 G-sync IPS panel when gaming? The post became longer than I thought so sorry for the long read but I wanted to get as many details that effect my decision making. Also thanks already for your thought on the matter.

hey! So, If i were looking to get two 3340x1440 monitors, would i need 4gb or 8gb of vram? also, would i need... 1) one card ( 1a) w/ one DP and use an MST hub, or 1b) two DP's, one for each monitor) OR 2) two cards (one DP each for each monitor)? -primary use for work/multitasking and gaming only on one monitor Thanks!

hey guys and ladies! I'm looking to get a large format 34 inch 3340x1440 monitor (dell u3415w) for work and also use my two 1920x1080 monitors above it via vesa mounts (hopefully get two of these large format monitors in the future). I have a few questions I need clarification on. 1) what kind of specs should I be looking for in a gpu to support this setup (and future proof for possibly 2 of these 34 inch monitors)? 1a) does the max resolution on a gpu refer to all monitors connected? 3 monitors using eyefinity for example, a single monitor, or an mst hub for 4+ monitors? 1b) should I look for max resolution of one gpu thru hdmi/dp to support 6880x2880 (two 34 inch 3440x1440 monitors (or support 7280x3600, one 3340x1440 and two 1920x1080 monitors)) OR two gpus to support one monitor each at 3440x1440 (or one gpu for the 3340x1440 and the other gpu for two 1920x1080 monitors)? (once again in looking to future proof so I can have two 3440x1440 monitors) 1b) how much vram? I'm trying to get into stocks do I would have all monitors filled with charts constantly updating. I most likely won't be using my set up for gaming as I rarely have down time but would like the possibility to do so on one monitor. thank you everyone!

I'm really struggling to find a solution to this. I just bought a new Acer XR341CK and am really dissappointed as all of my blu-rays playing through Cyberlink PowerDVD playback letterboxed and pillarboxed. Does anyone know how to play these fullscreen? It was my main reasoning for buying this monitor in the first place. Thanks in advance.

1. Budget & Location I live in Australia $3000 AUD $2100 USD Prices are relatively flexible, would prefer around this though, always happy to save money or spend if needed. $2800 CAD 2. Aim Gaming on AAA titles, bit of WoW, Definitely the new Fall Out. I want to be able to run these games above 45fps at 3440x1440. I am aiming for a black and white theme, since my monitor speakers and subwoofer are finished in gloss white. (SVS-sb100 and aktimate mini+). I will be connected these up through a usb ODAC. I don't have access to a hard wired internet connected but I do own a nighthawk r7000 AC router that is bridged to a modem. I will be overclocking, probably around 4.5ghz. I do want to SLI in the future when my performance starts to drop in games across the board, probably years down the track. I have 4x Noctua NF-P12-1300 54.4 CFM 120mm Fan from my old computer, I want to reuse these, in the case I chose i think there is only space for an exhaust in the back and top of the case, the front will house a 140mmx2 AIO cooler. 3. Monitors I already have a Dell u3415w, which runs at 3440x1440 4. Peripherals I need a keyboard, mouse and mouse pad. I am interested in: Ducky Legend Mechanical Keyboard White LED brown switches (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=29846) Mionix Avior SK edition Gaming mouse (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=30398) Razer Kabuto Mouse pad (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=12980) These are included in the budget. 5. Why are you upgrading? I only have a macbook pro 13 retina that i use for university, but I want to be able to play any game that interests me at decent settings. I am also interested in building my first computer, so this will be a project for me. This is what I have come up with so far after a week of research: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($355.00 @ Umart) CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($189.00 @ CPL Online) Motherboard: MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($269.00 @ Centre Com) Memory: Kingston FURY 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($185.00 @ CPL Online) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($265.00 @ PCCaseGear) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card ($1089.00 @ IJK) Case: NZXT S340 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($109.00 @ Centre Com) Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($199.00 @ PCCaseGear) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) Wireless Network Adapter: Asus PCE-AC68 802.11a/b/g/n/ac PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($105.00 @ CPL Online) Total: $2765.00

Hey Forum In a couple months I will be buying a Curved 34" 3440x1440p Ultrawide monitor that runs at 75hz. Right now I have one EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB FTW Edition card which is an absolute beast but I'm only running a 1920x1080 monitor. I'm just wondering and curious to whether or not throwing in another card in SLI will be enough to handle the workload. Thanks for the help!

My AOC U3477Pqu has been running great for about a month until this morning when I woke my computer up and it stayed black with the blue light on for about a minute then displayed no signal. This was with Display port, so I tried DVI and that didn't work . I tried to see if it was on a different source setting on the monitor and it was set to the correct setting for the two tests. My GPU is a GTX 770 with driver version 361.75

Going from a 1080p monitor to 3440x1440 How much ruff fps would i lose? Also i am running 2x 980ti's FTW editions in SLI. As it is not as demanding as 4k and more so than 1440p

currently i've been stumbling about the AOC U3477PQU for around 590 bucks ( some scratches on the back...noone will see it) instead of 700 is it worth? IPS 3440x1440p 21:9 60hz + pivot etc to get rid of the 2x 22" edit: samsung s22a200b current setup is in my signature i'd like to hear your thoughts anyone experience with AOC displays? the new AOC cost around 800bucks would you recommend saving some more to get an Acer/Asus 34" for 1,2grand? IMO thats way too much just for a 34" + the g-sync bonus thanks

Hi, As the title suggests, I'm looking for a new monitor and am trying to decide among these resolutions/refresh rates. I'll be upgrading from a 2560x1440, 60Hz monitor. I'm running an i7 5820K and a pair of GTX 980 TI's in SLI. I'm aiming at playing games at max settings with at least 2X MSAA or SMAA and a stable 60FPS. I've narrowed down my choices to the following monitors based on specs and aesthetics: Asus PB279Q (4K, 60Hz) or PG27AQ (4k, 60Hz, Gsync) LG 34UC87 (3440x1440, 60Hz) Asus PG279Q (2560x1440, 165Hz, Gsync) Keep in mind that I've crossed the Acer Predator X34 off the list because I don't like its 'gamery' aesthetic. I'm leaning a little more toward 3440x1440 but I'm a little hesitant because I'm worried about the 21:9 aspect ratio and I watch a lot of movies and TV shows. As for 4K, I'm worried about performance as the scaling doesn't look great on the benchmarks I've seen and I'm aiming for a stable 60FPS. I'm not sure about 1440p 165Hz because I've always prioritized higher resolutions over frame rate when making an upgrade and am not quite sure I'm ready to make that jump to 144hz+. Which of these monitors do you personally prefer and why? Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello guys, I´m currently running Microsoft FSX on 1 1080p monitor + 1 1080p Aux-monitor for TeamSpeak, which is running fine on my 4690K @ 4,4GHz and a Asus Strix GTX 750ti with the default overclock. I´m now planning to upgrade the main monitor to a LG 34UM95 Ultrawide (3440x1440) and will also switch to Lockheed Martin Prepar3d v3 in the next 1-2 months. Do you think a Asus GTX 970 Strix will do the job? Otherwise I´ll have to step down to a 2560x1440 monitor because I can´t afford anything even more expensive. PS: For those who are familiar with Flightsims, my add ons are PMDG B777, VRS F18, REX 4 and some Aerosoft MegaAirports, I will soon be adding Flightbeams EDDF Scenery (which isn´t released yet). Thanks for your help!

I want to have a good gaming experience in an UW-QHD curved monitor, and I would like to know the best PC build (preferably up to $2000) for that. My PC specs are: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Asus X99-PRO/USB 3.1 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Transcend SSD370 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card Corsair Vengeance C70 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case Corsair 750W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply My biggest concern is about the video card. If anyone has good tips, please tell me!

Hey all, I am looking for a 34" 3440x1440 21:9 monitor. I know of a few by LG however I do not have a $1000 to spend so I am wondering if there are any cheeper options like some of the Korean monitors that teksyndicate reviewed a little while back. Any thoughts would be great!

Dell canada has a spring sale. Dell U3415W is 1099 down from 1250. Pretty good deal compare to LG 34UC97. Way better stand too. http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&oc=U3415W_R_1 Even BETTER deal. Microsoft store online has this for $930 ($837 with student pricing). http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msca/en_CA/pdp/Dell-UltraSharp-34-Curved-Monitor/productID.314712000 Can't wait till i get mine.

So I've been considering a monitor upgrade for a while now. And i think I've narrowed it down to two options now. Wait for the Acer XR341CK at 75 Hz with gsync or the AOC U3477PQU the AOC here is $1000 NZD and the Acer will be almost double at $1800 So i was wondering if anyone has overlocked a 21:9 panel and what the results were? Because if i could get the AOC to say 75 Hz i would probably get that. Also i could get the AOC now and god knows when the Acer will come out Cheers

Hi guys, So i wanted to know if 2560x1080 ultrawide 21:9 monitors are worth it, as 3440x1440 is out of my budget right at this second, I normally game, watch movies and do other web surfing activities, should i wait until 3440x1440 displays are cheaper? Thanks!

These are 2 very different monitors what would be better for video watching gaming browsing the web with a gtx 980 ti.

Hi guys! I'm looking forward to build my first gaming pc ever, and I was wondering if you could review my plan so far ! This PC will be oriented mainly towards gaming (at 3440x1440p). It will be use for work as well, but no image rendering or video editing. I'm aiming for smooth gameplay (60 fps) at 3400x1440 and at high settings. The most demanding game I'll play on it will be Star Citizen I guess, but since it is not released, it is hard to forecast the hardware required. I guess Crysis 3 is the benchmark at the moment since Star Citizen will run on Cry Engine 3. I'm not looking for a budget PC, high end is the way to go for this build. Of course I'm not burning money like a madman (so no 4-way sli titan X suggestion please:p ). I'm estimating 3000$ will be good (without the screen). I'm living in Canada, so I'll get my parts mainly on NCIX, Newsegg, Amazon. The part selection for the moment: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/86XvQ7 I'm looking for 3440x1440P because I really love working with 2 screens, but I hate the bezel at the center. So I can see this resolution really fixing my problem! Also, in gaming, it will be quite immersive Processor: the i7-4790K seems like the way to go for a good gaming processor with hyperthreading, so I took it without many other reasons than hyperthreading (which i guess will be helpfull in upcoming games). I could wait a bit for Broadwell, but I don't think it will worth it (not much improvements over this generation). Motherboard: I honestly don't have much clues over which mobo to choose. It looked like a good one with good reviews on PCPP, so I took this one. I don't know if there is much difference between a mobo with 2 sli 16x PCI-E lanes, and one with 1 16x and 8x (since both card will run at 8x). Is there any real performance difference? RAM: Not so expensive, 16 gigs seems like a reasonable amount to run games and other apps at the same time. Apparently the brand is good, 2400 mhz wiill improve speed, but otherwise I don't have other argument to choose on type of RAM over the other... Storage: I leaning toward all SSD storage into this build. I don't have much music, or pictures/video, so I don't need a HDD with 4G to store that, but I want my OS and all my games on SSD for a lightning fast boot of everything! 2 512G SSD RAID 0 or 1 1TB SSD is the question at the moment... GPU: I'm waiting for the next generation of GPUs (it will be either the 980ti or the 390x), so I have put 2 GTX 780 ti for the moment only to figure out the required wattage (250 W each, which will probably be the wattage required on the upcoming cards) on PCPP for the build, but it will be 1 of those 2 card at first, and the I will move on to sli. Apparently the 390x will comes with only 4gig of memory on it, si I guess I will lean toward the 980ti (at 6gig) to sustain good performance at that resolution. The upcoming weeks in GPUland will make me decide which one to get. I'll wait for good reviews as well to compare the 2 cards! Case: I like minimalistic design (I'm not looking for a window or lights in the case), so fractal design R5 looks like the way to go. Plus, it is a mid-tower case, which I prefer, and it is supposed to be really quiet PSU: The PCPP calculator gives me a reading of 714W, so a 860W should do the trick (plus a safety margin!). It is also a platinium certified psu, which is great! I intend to overclock a bit, but not that much. I will go all in air cooling, and I'm aiming for quiet and performance, so I grabbed 3 Noctua 140mm fan (2 front, 1 back) for the case , and a noctua NH-U12 for cpu cooling, which I think will be cool and quiet (as the noctua reputation implies). The screen will be the magnificient LG 34UC97-S which I really love, even if it doesn't have freesync or g-sync on it. Still undecided for the keyboard, so I pick up this Thermaltake Poseidon for the moment, but I will review it later. Thanks in advance for the help guys ! I looking for your approval, so I can lock-up my choices and be ready for the upcoming GPU releases in the upcoming weeks !!

Just received my U3415W over the weekend and its pretty awesome. Like the topic says "ask me anything" about the monitor and I'll try my best to answer them. My rig i7-3770k Gtx 970 16gb ram Some games I will be benching and letting you guys know if it supports ultrawide. For example: Game Avg. FPS Ultrawide GTA V 10 Yes Minecraft 10 No Maybe a screenshot of AutoCAD running side by side (because apparently i could not find anyone on the web that has this situation).
