Hey all! Currently got 3x 1080p 23" monitors. They're average but they've served me well over the last 7 and a half years. Going to be swapping out two of these, for a 3440x1440 monitor, and keeping one on the side. Need some help choosing between these two models: https://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-UltraWide-35WN73A-35-inch-Monitor-21/dp/B088LNHMZP/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&qid=1596830404&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A12128847031&s=computers&sr=1-3 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-LC34J791WTUXEN-34-Inch-LED-Monitor/dp/B07FBL6WSC/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&qid=1596830404&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A12128847031&s=computers&sr=1-4 They look pretty similar, but with the LG having HDR10, and the Samsung being QLED. I'm aware that these are two completely different features, but this is the only thing I can see that tells them apart. Both of them are the same resolution, 100Hz, FreeSync. Samsung has a shorter response time (4ms as opposed to the 5ms of the LG), and the LG is 35" and not 34", which would mean slightly lower PPI. My question is then, would you rather the £550 Samsung QLED, or the £480 LG LED with HDR10? Any input would be great! Thanks in advance! Rhys!

I have a 1080 ti currently, and I'm looking into upgrading my monitor to alienware's AW3418DW. It's 3440x1440 ips display with a base refresh rate of 100hz (overclock at 120hz). Will my gpu be able to actually run this monitor with those kinds of frame rates with the graphics at least on medium settings?

Hi everyone, just looking to get some feedback on this planned build - I may swap the CPU for an 8086k depending on price/performance, but I am planning to order in 1-2 months and will miss the boat on 11x series GPU. I may decide to upgrade this 1080 ti to the 1180 ti when it is released in a year or so. The main use will be gaming (3440x1440p 120hz), with video editing coming in second. I will be overclocking (still deciding if I want to delid and go for 5ghz, otherwise I'll likely be happy at 4.7-4.8ghz). I am not overly invested in aesthetics but I am going for a black and white theme - I am considering changing the fans on the Noctua but need to find out if there would be any difference in performance. 1tb SSD is because the cost difference from 500gb isn't a whole lot and it will save some storage management as games get bigger and bigger. It will also allow me to edit from this drive. The Fractal Define R6 is receiving an upgrade in the coming months with a replacement front panel with USB 3.1 Gen2 A and C ports - this is partly why I have chosen the Taichi for the motherboard, as it comes with support for this. I will also be making use of the Flex VRC-25 to install the GPU vertically which makes so much more sense than the traditional orientation. If anyone has any feedback at all I'd love to hear it, hoping to have everything figured out by the time I am ready to order. Also if anyone has tips on cable mods/management to fit the B&W theme (even if it's just telling me which cables and stuff I can replace) it would be awesome. Does anyone know the packaging dimensions of the Acer Predator X34p display? I know this is an extremely basic question but I just couldn't find anything online and I thought it might be of use for other people as well. If you wonder why on earth am I asking well, the thing is that I'm about to order one and I want to know if it fits into an "automatic post station for packages".. or whatever it is in English (Finnish pakettiautomaatti) as they have limited size and all I could find on the display's box was that is enourmus, but nobody gives dimensions D:

Hello, I'm looking to buy a new CPU, I'm still using 3770k @ 4.5Ghz I have GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 with Acer Predator X34. Did anyone see benchmark of the new Ryzen 2700X @ 4.2Ghz + GTX 1080 Ti on Ultrawide? Just to know what worth buying, 8700k or 2700X Thanks in advance

Simple question, any opinions or comments? Please note I am not talking only about gaming, so how would this work in let's say just regular windows applications?

I am going to build a PC soon and was wondering if the gtx 1080 will deliver a pleasant experience with a 3440x1440 monitor? Thanks in advance!

I'm looking to upgrade my monitor for home/work. I have a beefed up early 2012 non-retina macbook pro that i want to get an external monitor for. I work on a 27" iMac at work, but want more real estate at home. I also have a PC build from 2013 that I'd like to hook up to it when I have PC-specific work to do. Can that macbook pro handle the 3440x1440p with a displayport to mini displayport cable, or am I wasting my time? If it can, does anyone have a recommendation of monitor to get at this size/resolution? Macbook Pro specs 13-inch 2.9 GHz dual-core i7 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 500GB SSD original Intel HD Graphics 4000 features mini displayport firewire thunderbolt (old?) etc.

Hi, i Am thinking of buying an 34inch 3440x1440 ultrawide 60hz monitor. Now it makes me wonder if my 1050ti will be capable of giving me 60fps at this resolution at low settings. On titles like COD WWII, witcher 3, battlefield1, etc... i dont have a lot of experience at this matter. So sorry if i lacked some info. I am planning on upgrading my gpu to a 1070ti or a used 1080ti. But not in the near future. Any thoughts? Thanks! Full build: msi z379 pro intel i5 8600k 16gb corsair vengeance 2666mhz corsair 450RM PSU

So I'm planning on getting an ultrawide during these sales that will soon start during the holiday season. However, I doubt my system currently can run it, so I'm upgrading. Currently, I'm running a gtx 1080 Gigabyte Turbo, i7-6700K, with 16 Gigs of ram. I think the rest will work, but if I'm planning on trying to peak my performance near at least 100 fps on high-ish settings what would you guys recommend? By the way, this is what I'm planning on buying. ALIENWARE 34 CURVED GAMING MONITOR – AW3418DW

So I gamed at 3440x1440 at a friends, now I just gotta have it lol. Let me start off with my system specs: I7-2700k oc to 4.6ghz on air 8gb ram (had 16, 2 sticks died within months of each other) 2x evga gtx 970 sc I have a good deal on a 3440x1440 100hz gync monitor I'm picking up tomorrow... should I just grab a 1080ti to go with it, or should I be looking at upgrading the whole system (aka building a new one)? I play alot of rpgs (witcher 3, wildlands, shadow of mordor, ect). Thanks

Anyone know when we will start seeing 1440p Ultrawides with G-SYNC and HDR? ASUS has showcased some ages ago, but are there any release dates set?

Hello, I am building my new pc this days and so far I have everything bit the gpu. The specs so far are: i7 6700k, msi M5 motherboard, evga 750W psu, 16GB or ram, 450GB SSD and a phanteks case. I choose a Dell u3415w as my monitor and now I try to choose my gpu. My dyllima is the following one. To have one 1070 to start with or to go for an older solution and have two 970 in sli, bying one now and the second one after some time. I am planning to use my pc for design and gaming, mostly rally and fps, and I quoted like to have an average of at list 60fps. Thanks for your time and I am sorry for the long post. https://www.amazon.com/PG348Q-3440x1440-G-SYNC-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B01C83BE6U I just purchased the above monitor and in games things displayed near the outer edges are larger than when they are at the center of the monitor. Is increasing the FOV in games supposed to fix that? I tried it in Skyrim but did not notice a change with the sizing issue. Or is it supposed to be like that on ultra-wide monitors? I'm new to this larger format and would appreciate any insight.

Ever since Linus published his 21:9 manifesto back at the old office I've been waiting for 3440x1440 to be relatively affordable. this week on ebay there have been several large buy it now posts for such panels at the $500, and if these hold were at half of what they were two years ago. I'm not ready to pull the trigger quite yet, but we are getting much closer. I'm curious how many out there have bout a 1440p ultrawide, and how many are still holding out. how low is low enough?

Hey LTT, I've been looking at monitors for a while, and I was first thinking of getting a 1440p 144Hz monitor. But I realized that if I save up an Extra $100 or so I can get a 1440 UW monitor. I was browsing my local craigslist when I came across a Dell U3415W for sale for $500. I'm a big promoter of buying used stuff, My truck is used, even my Asus PB278Q is a 2012 model that i purchased over the summer and it works like its brand new. I've read reviews and seen the monitor in person and it looks like a really solid monitor. Is it worth buying used or not take the risk? New 3440x1440 monitors start at $700 and quickly go up Thanks

I've been saving for the Predator X34 for a while now and i have the cash but i am still running a GTX 780ti graphics card. i know i'll need more GPU power to unlock the full potential of the X34. My question is: are you able to easily lower the resolution in game back down to 2560x1440p to allow for a smoother gaming experience until the GTX 1080ti is released? Will this cause issues with the X34? Ideally i'd like to keep the ultra texture settings I want the higher resolution as i don't just game on my home PC Cheers for the help

What is the best bang for your buck 3440x1440 graphics card? I'm looking to upgrade my monitor and graphics card and I'm wondering if a gtx 1060 will be enough or will I have to get something more expensive. My budget is around $300-$400.

Hello community! I'm planning to upgrade my current desktop rig in steps - PSU, CPU cooler, GPU, case and extra fans plus maybe some RAM sticks... Current rig specs below (in italic soon to be upgraded/exchanged parts): Monitor: Trying to find best issue-less 34" ultra-wide - more info below CPU: i7 4770K @4.00GHz + stock cooler RAM: Kingston 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz HyperX Black CL10 GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770 OC 4GB WindForce 3X MOBO: Asus Z87-DELUXE Intel Z87 LGA1150 SSD: Samsung 850 PRO 256GB HDD1: WD Black 6TB WD6001FZWX HDD2: WD Black 4TB WD4003FZEX HDD3: WD Black 4TB WD4003FZEX HDD4: WD Black 2TB WD2002FAEX -> to be replaced due to Raw Read Errors (probably another WD6001FZWX) HDD5: WD Black 1TB WD1003FZEX -> after getting new replacement for FAEX, this one will be packed and replaced by Samsung 850 Evo 1TB PSU: Thermaltake Toughtpower 750W OS: W7 64bit PRO ODD: LG BD-RE LG BH08LS20 Case: Chaser MK-I VN300M1W2N /Monitor/ The monitor will be 3440x1440 - still unspecified model and manufacturer due numerous issues with X34s and P348Q - had two X34s (returned due BLB, visible vertical tearing despite G-SYNC, overheating causing unit shut-down and LED under-bar flashing) and one P348Q (to be returned due BLB, ROG logo turning off itself without a reason and those built-in speaker really sucks - so quiet that can't watch youtube while eating) - will try over and over again till I'll find near perfect one for this buck, but I'm pretty sure to stick to Ultrawide. /PSU/ Firstly I'd like to switch that pretty antique (~7 year old) PSU for something better with more wattage. Final config (for now just one 1080) would consist of 2x GTX1080s or yet unreleased 1080Ti in SLI so some more power is needed. So far I have no plans for switching CPU&MOBO at least till Skylake-X/Kaby Lake-X will be released (with native hardware x265). Storage will finally consist of two SSDs (256GB 850 PRO and 1TB 850 Evo from GS60) plus four HDDs - 2x6TB and 2x4TB in black flavor. Honestly I'm pretty puzzled which one should I choose - something with about 1000-1200W, Gold or Platinum efficiency (Titanium is way over my budget) and a price tag of roughly 250-300USD - I know that taking that PSU for single or even two 1080 is a bit overkill but I'd like have nearly silent build with PSU fan spinning only during load. Ah and long warranty is welcome (like with EVGA ones). And probably there might be some availability problems in my home country (PL) so presenting few models to choose from is welcome. /CPU cooler/ Don't kill me for still using Intel stock cooler - didn't have money to spare on it as my main gaming rig was GS60-2QE (970M) and it was used rather as storage machine and incredibly rarely as gaming tool. But as that laptop is getting more and more rusty after ~18 months I'm preparing to ditch it for desktop and getting it replaced or cashing it back (numerous flaws under warranty like dying screen with whitespot/overheating/fan failing/issues with power section causing screen flashing etc.). So its time to fix cooling issue. Did some research about CPU cooling and after some brainstorming, measuring and wallet checking crossed out AiO LCS as a bit too pricey for me (taking into account other mods), so only air based ones are left - do you think that Dark Rock PRO 3 would be the best choice in terms of lowest noise levels? And no more than 90-100 USD price-tag. And of course no puke-shit colored Noctua's - something black or with metallic accents. /GPU/ As far for GPU I'm not eager to spend ~700 USD for it but I'd prefer one but powerful one (DX11 wise) than getting SLI or CrossFire at start (taking into account power-draw and emitted heat into room) so I'll probably stick to cheapest non-referent 1080 with as little as possible color accents (eg. no red MSI's but maybe ZOTAC's) and longest warranty. /CASE/ About a case, current one is becoming more and more overcrowded (eg. SATA drives) and thought about ditching it for something more roomy - by a chance I managed to see one from Thermaltake - Core x9 - got amazed by three things vertical MOBO placement, great access to component from any side and stack-ability. But after some time I'm getting doubts - fans from current case (200mm ones) are a bit noisy so I don't think that x9's ones would be less audible... Other option is soon to be released DG-87 - great looking and future-proof for my distant LC plans... What do you think about that in ~250 USD range? /other stuff/ As for extra fans and RAM, it all depends how much will be left in my pocket after all these mods and which case I would choose - DG-87 in stock have nearly all fans already installed - only 2 140mm can be installed later. For RAM I would either add two more 1600 8GB sticks or swap old ones for higher clocked 4x8GB DDR3s but it is way to soon to anticipate course of action (why I need so much RAM? Like running few VM simultaneously). /sidenote aka server-NAS plan/ Got an idea how to reuse my old X58 build or rather MOBO itself and some other scrap parts - as second-hand E5620 is extremely cheap (~$12) combining it with leftovers from this system (GTX770, PSU, case) and old Intel 520 120GB SSD might be a good start. All I need is some cheapo cooler and ECC RAM, some NAS-friendly drives and 10Gbit card... But it's for a different time...

Hello Probably this Topic isn't new but I'm gonna ask anyways. So Currently I am running 2560x1440 32 " monitor with a Titan X and Framerates are fairly high with about 50-60 Fps in Games like Ark, Witcher and even higher in not so demanding games, what is to be expetcted. Now my Montior is getting a bit too small and i want to buy a 34 curved monitor and there are ones with 3440x1440 or 2560x1080, Will my Titan X (Gigabyte Reference) be able to handle this resolution and still deliever solid fps between 40-50. ( Note I dont mind not setting all options to max as long as it still looks fairly nice.) Or should i buy a 2560x1080 resolution one and be on the safe side. Or does that resolution look terrible? Little Side Question: Is it worth to pay 500 bucks more just for gsync? Regards Cesar PS: Hope my english is not too terrible

Could be Nvidia GTX 1080 3440X1440 Sweatspot ? what do you think ?

So I've been doing a bunch of research for the right monitor and narrowed it down to these two. Dell u3415w - €757 LG 34uc88-b - €908 Now I'm not sure which one to get. From what I can gather the Dell offers great image quality and can overclock to 75hz - 85hz (results vary) but suffers from backlight bleed like other previous gen ultrawides (results vary). It's also cheaper. Also it seems on the Dell you can switch between 8ms and 5ms response time but the 5ms causes overshoot and is not recommended (according to tftcentral). LG seems to have fixed (minimized) backlight bleed on their newer panel that they use on the 34uc88 (and 98) which is the main reason why I'm considering this one. How good is the image quality compared to the Dell? I heard contrast and brightness levels aren't as good but it has beter colors(?). Is it possible to overclock this monitor if you have a Nvidia card? I've never actually done that before with a monitor and idk if I will but just asking just in case. Not sure if I'm asking too many questions and thinking too hard about all this stuff but w/e. I'll be using it for work and gaming, but gaming more often. Which would you recommend? Lastly how much does the curve actually add to the experience? And does it get in the way if you're using for example Illustrator? I could get the LG 34um88c for roughly the same price as the Dell.

Hi guys, My current setup is two 970s in SLI for my X34 Predator (3440x1440 @ 100Hz) for most games I can run max settings at 70-80 fps and high at 90-100 fps setup is dandy but some games don't do SLI or scale poorly etc. I see that Nvidia claims that a 1080 is better than two 980s but most benchmarks don't support that However, would it be worth it to upgrade from two 970s? Thoughts?
