Hello Community, I need help finding a good case compatible with the MSI H97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h97pcmate. I need it to be compatible with the usb 3.0 header the motherboard sports. All help is appreciated, thanks.

First time writing a review. Feel free to leave any suggestions for improvement as insulting as possible thanks! Alright so, I'll be reviewing a 7 port USB 3.0 hub by BROWAY. Never heard of it? Thought so. It seems to be a chinese brand that, like many other chinese brands, rip off other designs. In this case, I believe the original design is by Anker. Let's begin! The package: Mine came with an extra outlet splitter. Nice addition I suppose. Opening up inside: Seems pretty premium. Main unit wrapped in a soft plastic type wrapper. The content: To those who have searched up USB hubs before. You may notice this looks rather familiar. And it is! It's almost a perfect replica of the Anker version. Only the logo is changed. Reason I didn't buy the Anker version is that it doesn't exist in Taiwan. I did notice the A/C adpater has some sort of adhesive stuck on it. Cleaned it as best as I could. Ah well, at least it still works. Anyways, onto the unit itself! Not too shabby for a knock off. Which for the equivalent of $41.52 effin dollar, it should be. (1,350nt) The back of it. Onto my next minor issue. The cable quality seems to be sub par. Not sure if this was always the case for all cables but this one seems much worse. You can see dents on the cable. That was caused solely by the twist ties. And indeed the rubber feels incredibly soft. Like I could dent it by simply pressing my nails on it without much force. More issues! Damn thing is a finger print catcher! Don't know if it's cause it's a knock off or the Anker version has this problem too. The plastic catches finger prints incredibly easily. Alright, alright. Enough about the quality. Does the thing perform? The answer is yes! First I tested out it's charging feature. Simply put, when plugged in an outlet while not connected to a computer. It can act like an adapter to charge USB devices. It works so yay. Now onto the actual test! So what do I have connected? -DAC/AMP -HDD read/writer -Card read/writer -Mouse -Keyboard -Phone -Memory stick All of them work without a problem! Ran a crystaldisk info benchmark of the 2.5 HDD as well which you can see on the screen of the Surface Pro 3. Now, does the thing work without A/C power? Nope, not surprised. It never said it would. I won't be using this on go so It's not really an issue for me. If you do want this capability, there's a version of this hub also by Anker (and Broway) with a full aluminum unibody which features this feature. However that variant is heavier and lacks the dedicated charging port. Overall the unit works as intended despite having some, but not major, quality issues (It's not falling apart or blowing up in my face) which I'm going to put the blame on Broway although if the Anker version has this issue then, look out for that! Summary: +Charging by A/C connection only +Supposedly 7th slot charges at speed up to 2 amp. +Powers all 7 connected devices without issue and doesn't bottleneck any speed. +Came with an extra outlet splitter -Fingerprint magnet on the plastic top -Soft rubber cable -A/C plug filled with adhesive 8.5/10 Purchase link (Taiwan only) Anker link Thanks for reading! -

So I decided to purchase a Corsair H50 for my i5 and was very impressed with the results. Under load while playing games with my Oculus Rift, it would creep up to 88C and with the H50, it never broke 59C. In a quest of curiosity I decided to try liquid cooling my XFX R9 290x. I figured a LOT of heat was originating from that thing, and plus it was very loud. So I bought a Kraken G10 and a Thermaltake Water Extreme 3.0. Initially, I used the H50 with my 290x. I was not happy with the results. So much as opening a youtube video would cause the thing to hit 85-90C. Yes, just watching a youtube video. I thought "well surely this must be wrong" but I don't know. That's why I'm posting here. I figure you guys are good experts on this. Out of curiosity I spent a very cumbersome hour switching my 290 over to use the Thermaltake, and I am getting the same exact results. I don't know if it's because of the thermal paste I used or what. This is my first time doing something like this, and from what I've researched some brands of paste are better for heat transfer with GPUs than others. Is that true? Also, I've seen multiple videos where people mention letting the paste set. What do they mean by that? I've checked to see if the insane temps were coming from the VRM but no, the VRM is actually very stable even under load, so I am lead to believe that this is just a thermal paste issue. I've used both coolers on my CPU with absolutely no problems. What do you guys think?

Hey guys, this might seem a stupid question but in my promo for my motherboard, it says it supports Gen 3 PCIe. I was just wondering if this is the same as PCIe 3.0? As I want to put in a gtx960 or gtx970. Thanks in advance! -
Hello People. I have decided to buy an external hard drive. The WD Passport, it has a USB 3.0 Connection interface. The laptop I am currently using only has UBS 2.0. Would it have compatibility issues using a downgraded version of USB? Also, if you have or had this device, how was your experience with it. Hey guys, I want to upgrade my GPU, but dont know how will the PCI-E slot affect my new GPU. What will be the performance loss of the PCI-E 16x gen 3.0 GPU in a PCI-E 16x gen 2.0 slot? I will upgrade my MB after some time too so this is going to be temporary. Thanks

Hey everyone Just a quick question. I was just playing COD:AW with my 970 and had GPU-Z open on my other monitor. I was getting really bad issues with the cut scenes as in stuttering and extreme tearing, (The latter I would not have expected to exist since they are pre-rendered) So I observed my overclock through afterburner, and the card was reaching the set overclock of 1540MHz core and 7010 on the memory, but in GPU-z the bus interface keeps swapping between PCI 1.1 and 3.0 at 8.0x but never reaches the full 16x, (Although I assume that is because of my sound card and Wireless card). Why does the bus speed keep swapping out between 1.1 and 3.0 link? Is this normal (as in power saving)? If so, is there any way I can force it to stay at the full PCI 3.0 and not swap to the lower 1.1? Thanks.

As you see the 3.0 header isn't fitting in correctly, here is a diagram I made | V The problem is the header position is like the left one in the diagram ,but it needs to be like the right one, to fit in it correctly. Will this affect anything? If it stays in that incorrect position?

Hi all, I've got a question and I can't really find a "right" solution to it. I have the pc at about 2m from the desk, I need to connect the keyboard and mice but the cable are not so long. Here my question: Should I use an extension cable or a HUB (powered?)? Will I loose some performance or have some problems? Thanks

I upgrated my old computer HP Compaq 8100 Elite with Kingston HyperX 3K ssd, becouse my motherboard don't have 3.0 sata i bought SATA 3.0 controller and SATA 3.0 data cable. I dont know why i have speed leak ? My ssd is running with 2.0 speed. Please help !

I own a Nexus 7 Gen 1 since it's launch and recently I've bought an Android One device from Micromax Earlier when I used to connect my Nexus 7 to my PC as a mass storage device (MTP) or even as a Camera Device (PTP), it used to connect flawlessly and I was able to transfer all my music and videos to and fro from my computer and android device. Well, but now, I guess ever since the new Kit Kat update, that is not the case any more! Every time I connect the Tablet or the Phone (Which even has a Kit Kat Android on it) I am not able to connect to device to my PC and transfer data. The connected device does show up in the device manager but there is no icon for the mass storage device in 'My Computer'. I tried troubleshooting the problem and it said that some USB 3.0 issue might be causing the problem, so I connected to a USB 2.0 port on the back of my computer but the problem was still there. Still I couldn't find no icon for mass storage in My Computer. Need Help! Thank You!

So I just bought a USB 3.0 32 GB Toshiba Transmemory, I just tried it out and I always have the same problem: Every time I try to copy something to my USB, write speed starts at 50-60 MB/s and suddenly lowers to 20 MB/s. Hi I am looking for a nice looking micro atx size case for around £30. The case needs to be suitable for a r9 280 graphics card with adequate air flow. Hiya, my friend is looking to do some PC upgrades but I'm worried that what he wants to do might not work very well. My main concern is his Crossfire set up. His CPU supports 16 PCIe lanes, and his motherboard has 2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8), 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black), and 3 x PCIe x1. He is looking to install 2 GPU's and 1 wireless card, so my question is, will the GPU's run at PCIe 3.0 x8/x4 (which is fine), or something else? Also, will it do so automatically, or will it disable the wireless card and run in PCIe 3.0 x8/x8 (which he will then have to edit in the bios)? For Reference: CPU: I7 4770 (in current PC) Mobo: Sabertooth Z87 (looking to buy) GPU: 2x R9 280x (looking to buy)

So I'm plugging in all the cables, and I came across a slight problem... I'm trying to plug in the USB 3.0 Cable. (Looks like an HDMI cable but with a blue USB head) Into the USB 3.0 port on my motherboard; but it's not working! I tried so many different angles. I don't want to take the MOBO out because I'll need to take out the screws, and cables that are already plugged in. The pins are not broken, it's just that it won't fit. I don't want to force it too much because it may break the pins; which I won't be able to use USB 3.0 ports on the final build. Any suggestions/ideas? If you need pictures, just ask I'll post some. (I have a MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Mobo with a Red/Black NZXT H440) Help please!

Today I just got a 1TB HDD that I'm running from a USB 3.0 connection to install SteamOS on via USB flash drive. I used the automated installiton option and everything went well, but when booting up to finish off the installation it was acting a bit strange (ask me to discribe in detail if you need to know), but it did manage to install. Next, it rebooted to make a backup, then finally it started to boot into SteamOS... Though it never did; I waited about 10-15 minutes for to boot, but it didn't seem to be doing anything: (sorry about the quality; took it with a tablet.) I rebooted it, waited another 10-15minutes, but its the same story. I know for a fact that all my hardware is compatible with SteamOS so I have no idea what the problem is...

Hey guys, I'm starting my new build really soon and all I'm missing is the motherboard and OS. So I've been checking out motherboards and all of them I've found that are in the 120$ cad price range only have 1 usb 3.0 header on the motherboard, but my case, the NZXT Phantom 530, has 2 usb 3.0 on the front. So I was wondering how does this all work? Will the motherboard work? Motherboards I've been checking out include but are not limited to: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate, MSI H87-G43, ASRock Z87 Pro4, ASRock Z87 Extreme3, Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H, Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 and ASRock H87 Performance(assuming it restocks and keeps the price) If it works, which one of these motherboards would you recommend? Keep in my the 120$ Cad price. Thanks guys
