Hi everybody! I'm currently studying digital content design (video/image/2d/3d, very versatile) and my current build is struggling a lot with Adobe CC's software suit; especially After Effects and Premiere Pro, when creating 3D animations and editing 4k footage. There's also slowdown/lag with high res images and heavy documents in Photoshop and Illustrator. My current build consists of parts which are about 8 years old, some way older since the gpu, psu and mobo gave up at one point and the current ones are salvaged from an even earlier build. So I wouldn't be surprised if my current build doesn't make much sense. But it's time to move on and upgrade since it's now holding me back. Current build: I'm looking for: A PC build that can handle all types of visual and content creation; video, image, 3D, animation, 4k, raw etc. You name it. Nothing from the old build will be saved, I'm looking for a completely new build. I never game, it will purely be a working horse running content creation software (Adobe CC etc). I do not care for gaming esthetics (black, rgb lights, windowed case), I prefer simple and clean. 1 SSD for the OS and 1 HDD for storage. Speed and efficiency. Budget: 10 000 SEK = 1131 USD Country: Sweden Aim: 3D, animation, video and photo editing, vector graphics etc in softwares such as Adobe CC AE, PR, AI, PS. My current build struggles a lot when it comes to 3D animation, 4k footage, high res images and heavy documents, pretty much everything in other words. Monitors: For starters I will only run 1 monitor and aim for 4k res, but I'd like to be able to run 2 monitors in the future when I have enough desk space. Peripherals: Atm my budget is probably only enough for computer parts, but later on I also plan to purchase a new monitor. Monitor suggestions would therefore be appreciated as well, something suitable for editing with accurate colors, a 4k 27" IPS panel maybe. Mouse, keyboard and OS is taken care of. Why upgrade: I'm a digital content designer student whose current build is made up of 8+ years old parts and as I'm getting more and more into motion design with 3D and animated effects and the resolution of videos, images and documents increase, my current computer is coming up short, to put it mildly. ___ I'm uncertain when it comes to compatibility between components and I'd like to get as much bang for my buck as possible. I therefore reach out to you wise members and I thank you so humbly in advance for your advice and suggestions.

Budget (including currency): Country: Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): the budget for this build is 200000 DA ( Algeria) its for my Uncle , he is an Achitect, he doesnt have issues with the 2D stuff, so only 3D is left, and he uses the Lumion 8/9/10 program to render projects in 3D, its not a big portion of his work, but he would like to make it a bit smoother, This is the current parts list. Ryzen 7 3700x, we are thinking of dropping it to an r5 3600 because of budget restraintes, since neither his 2D nor 3D work requires any segnificant cpu power some B450 motherboard, havent decided yet, probably some mid tier one, maybe a tuf b450 gaming plus or something like that GTX 1660, pretty much the top of the line without stepping into RTX territory due to budget restraints (maybe a super ) 32gb 3600 Mhz memory ( he cant go lower than that) 800W thermaltake power supply that he already has 250 gb SSD and a 1TB hard drive the main question here is should we drop down to an r5 or stay with the r7 if he doesnt need the performance jump

So I am trying to make a script that will write a JSON file like this: And this is my code: using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; using UnityEngine; using System.IO; using UnityEngine.SceneManagement; public class Statistics : MonoBehaviour { public Player player; public GameManager manager; public EnemyDeathCounter enemyDeaths; static float timeCounter; static int totalSpent; string path = "Assets/Statistics.json"; void Update() { totalTime(); endGame(); } void totalTime() { if(manager.gameInProgressInspector) { timeCounter += Time.deltaTime; } } void endGame() { if(player.playerDead == true || manager.gameCompleted) { // End game collectStatistics(); SceneManager.LoadScene("Leaderboard"); } } void collectStatistics() { statData statData = new statData(); string oldDataRaw = File.ReadAllText(path); statData oldData = JsonUtility.FromJson<statData>(oldDataRaw); //statData.username //DO USERNAME INPUT IN MENU CLASS statData.timeToComplete = timeCounter; statData.playerLevel = player.playerLevel; statData.armourLevel = player.armourLevel; statData.weaponLevel = player.weaponLevel; statData.totalMoney = player.totalMoneySpent; statData.enemiesKilled = enemyDeaths.count; statData.gameCompleted = manager.gameCompleted; statData.score = completedScore(calculateScore(statData.timeToComplete, statData.playerLevel, statData.armourLevel, statData.weaponLevel, statData.totalMoney, statData.enemiesKilled), statData.gameCompleted); string json = JsonUtility.ToJson(statData, true); File.WriteAllText(path, json); } int calculateScore(float timeToComplete, int playerLevel, int armourLevel, int weaponLevel, int totalMoney, int enemiesKilled) { if(totalMoney == 0 || enemiesKilled == 0) { // TotalMoney and/or enemiesKilled are 0 so need to be excluded int score = playerLevel * armourLevel * weaponLevel; if(totalMoney == 0 & enemiesKilled == 0) { // Both are 0 score = (score * 100)/Mathf.RoundToInt(timeToComplete); return score; } else if(totalMoney == 0) { // Just totalMoney is 0 score *= enemiesKilled; score = (score * 100)/Mathf.RoundToInt(timeToComplete); return score; } else if(enemiesKilled == 0) { // Just enemiesKilled is 0 score *= totalMoney; score = (score * 100)/Mathf.RoundToInt(timeToComplete); return score; } else { return 0; } } else { // TotalMoney and enemiesKilled are both bigger than 0 int score = playerLevel * armourLevel * weaponLevel * totalMoney * enemiesKilled; score = (score * 100)/Mathf.RoundToInt(timeToComplete); return score; } } int completedScore(int score, bool gameCompleted) { if(gameCompleted == true) { score *= 1; return score; } else { score *= 0; return score; } } private class statData { public string username; public float timeToComplete; public int playerLevel; public int armourLevel; public int weaponLevel; public int totalMoney; public int enemiesKilled; public bool gameCompleted; public int score; } } I have no idea how to make this work. If anyone has any ideas on how I could do this or even if I can do it a better way, they'll be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, i will have to look into getting some sort of new setup due to defects. That's about how I use my current two devices: PC: 2D Design and Layout projects (60%), Office and general productivity(40%). Notebook: Same as above, but around 20 vs. 80% Specifically I am doing Layout Projects in InDesign and (when it finally is released, in Affinity Designer), as well as illustrations and graphics design with PS, Gimp, and Illustrator. There are often big files, so I reckon since it's all 2D CPU and RAM is more important than GPU acceleration. Sometimes, the InDesign files have up to 10GBs (reports with many embedded graphics; big Posters for plotting with loads of dpi...) Until now I am using an AMD A10 5800k (=FM2 socket) build with 8GB of RAM at home and an Acer E111 with Celeron quadcore and 8GB for mobile use. I have to change something about the PC anyway, as I can't resolve its shutdown issues. I've litterally rebuilt it 3 times, with a new PSU, new Mainboard, swapped in different RAM, different system and different drives, checked all internal and peripheral devices. No issues found, PC still shuts down. I suspect the CPU or RAM to be at fault, so... I've had it and will build a new System. Specifically I'd like to get a new CPU, new Mainboard und RAM (and if the money is enough a new case) and keep the drives, PSU etc. since they're all new and/or free of troubles. This is the most cost effective solution imo. Replacing both my devices with a mobile workstation (Thinkpad with graphics Card for ~1000-1300€) doesn't seem worthwhile, as I mostly need the performance at home and for spontaneusly exporting graphics files in a different format or adding/hiding a few layers the notebook is good enough. At home I need the performance to handle bigger projects, to work with a decent Drawing pad and keyboard, monitor etc. Therefore I am leaning towards building a partially new PC. If you think otherwise, I'm open for advice. So, what's the best bang for the buck Combo of CPU, MB and RAM atm? Do I need a GPU or is a Ryzen APU okay? Is a higher clock more important for InDesign and Photoshop than more cores; i.e. should I rather get a top quadcore than a mediocre six-core CPU? Some goes for the RAM: should i rather get 8GBs of top notch RAM or 16GB with less mhz? If possible, I'd like to stay within 3-400€ for these parts, if it's particularly beneficial for futureproofing with a certain part I'd try to have 500€ on the side for this... I am looking at a bundle of AMD Ryzen 5 2400G (4x 3,6GHz), ASUS Prime B350-Plus Mainboard, 8GB DDR4 RAM (3200Mhz) for 350€ at a local store. If I source the parts indvidually and from different shops, I'm unable to beat the price by more than 10€, so I'm inclined to get everything with proper warranty locally. Do you reckon this is a sufficient setup? Or should I rather get a lesser CPU with a dedicated GPU? Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't know if this is the right forum to post this in, but oh well... Where do you guys find artists for your projects? I'm building a game at the moment and I need a 2D artist to help me out (since that's the stuff I suck at xD). Any reccomendations are appreaciated ^^

I want to get into using Adobe Animate. I was wondering if there was a way to make prefab animations and import them to an object as an additive so I wouldn't have to animate the object manually every time it does something.

I've had my 3D printer for a while and I've started to run out of ideas that I can model for it, I decided to draw a picture and now I'm wondering how I can convert it to an STL file or anything that can be opened in a slicer. I have Paint.net and inkscape as image software, blender and c4d for making/rendering models, and I use cura as my slicer software. Any help would be great!

The Toonz Studio Ghibli edition software was supposed to go open source and free sometime after the end of March. Does anyone know where the software could be downloaded from?

I have been trying without success to address a hardware acceleration problem in Office 2016. Most things run just fine, but certain animations look terrible. Particularly bad are: re-sizing Office application windows (other windows are fine), the startup animation for Office 2016 and dragging a selection box in an Excel spreadsheet. Software: Windows 10 build 10586 x64 Quadro driver ODE 362.13 Hardware: Dell M4800 Quadro k2100m Intel graphics is disabled This problem seems to have been around since 2013, as evidenced by these threads, so far the only "solution" is to revert to Office 2010. Every man and his dog is telling people to turn off hardware acceleration in Office but this emphatically does not work. From my perspective it seems as though hardware acceleration in Office 2013/2016 simply does not work. Has anyone experienced this and/or found a solution?

Having some trouble making a spritesheet in photoshop and exporting it to unity. I have the sprite layed out on the page, and have set up my grids and subdivisions, i think, and when i save as a png, and put it in unity, unity just sees it as 1 image, not multiple frames so i can use it as an animation. what should i try?

Just wanted to know if anyone plays Uniel. I just got a free PS3 not too long ago and immediately ran to the local robbery store(Gamestop) and copped it. I am loving as a long time fan of Melty Blood and BB. Any other fighters too. If anyone wants to play or link up just respond or add me on PSN or Steam. Should be on my profile.

Just wanted to see if anyone on the LTT is an active player of the 2d fighting game Skullgirls. Great game shitty community. HMU if you play as well.

This has some pretty sick artwork and seems very interesting. I am thinking of backing it. Not a very big goal but looks like they can pull it off. It's also greenlit! Tell me what you think! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/tormentum-dark-sorrow/x/3171652

Looking to design a game with a few friends and my brother. I'm looking for cool ideas or really anything (art style suggestions, mechanics, programming languages, etc.). I'm currently going to be using GamerMaker for right now, something to get the idea into a tangible, playable game and then refine it with a different engine. I'm looking (of course, its the style and can't draw) a 2D arcade type game. I'm also looking for something that may be an out of the box idea. We're currently at the drawing boards and need some inspiration. OP will try to make something soon and post beta (if anything happens)! Will be looking for feedback.

This system extracts 3-D data from ALL of your games and lets you play them in 3-D on ANY 2-D or 3-D TV for a better gaming experience. “In the unmarked office of 3-D Vision, Inc., you can see a television or PC display a videogame or movie with a convincing stereoscopic effect. That might not seem very unique. However, the television is a CRT from the 1990s, the video game is Super Mario for the Nintendo 64 and the movie is The Wizard of Oz, made in 1939.” Here is the link - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1991665813/instant-3-d-your-games-in-real-3-d-on-your-2-d-and?ref=category Who would have thought that all the information was already there to make anything from Game to a Movie or any piece of visual media and could be viewed in 3D on a 2D monitor or TV. This is awesome and if you are not a backer yet, you should be! Watch the video on the page for more info.
