I currrently have a MSi 7870 hawk in my system and would like to crossfire it with an msi r9 270x hawk. Is this possible and do i need a crossfire bridge if i do where can i get one because i didnt get one with my mobo?

I'm looking replace my XFX Radeon HD 7770. I'm trying to figure out whether it would be better to Crossfire the 260x or 270x, or just buy a single 280x. My question about Crossfire is: Does Crossfiring two cards mean you get almost exactly double the performance of only having one card? For example, say the 260x gets 20 FPS on Far Cry 3 at Ultra 1080p. Will dual-260x's bring that up to 40 FPS, give or take an FPS or two? I might be able to stretch my GPU budget to $300, but $200 is the most I'd like to spend at one time. Would the 260x be able to Crossfire with only a 600W Cooler Master Silent Pro M or am I gonna need a beefier PSU? What about the 270x? I'm running with an i5-3570 (no-K, the CPU was donated to me and the guy forgot the K, oh well) and 8 GB RAM at the moment. As far as Crossfiring 280x's go, that is way out of my budget, so I'm not even considering it. Hope this made sense to someone.

Welcome to my guide about water cooling a R9 series GPU. This is aimed at giving you a short introduction on what you will need and why; to water cool a R9 series GPU. The basics in the will apply to water cooling all GPUs. Advantages of watercooling For those of you new to water cooling; it usually gives you a quieter system, a cooler system or preferably both. In the R9's case, however, it will also give you a performance boost. Your GPU will automatically over clock until it hits a limit, be that a thermal limit or a power limit. When water-cooling you will probably be hitting the power limit first, unlike air cooling where you would probably hit the thermal limit first. This of course means more performance from your card, along with the other advantages you get. It also means overclocking will be automatic and take far less effort. Buying a new loop If you are new to water-cooling and going from zero then I really recommend checking out the Water-Cooling 101 and FAQ . They will give you a full overview of most of the parts you will need to buy to water-cool a GPU. If you want a base loop that you can replace parts on or add to I have made a guide for a "Basic CPU Loop" guide complete with a parts list. If you have done all of this and constructed a base loop you should carry onto the next section. Adding a GPU to your loop You will need a couple of parts to add a GPU to your loop. This will be the same whether you are adding to a H220 or a custom loop. First off you need a GPU block. At the time of writing this there are no blocks out there for the newer cards. I will put in a section at the end for news on water blocks coming out for the R9 series so refer to that if you are looking for a block for that card. The most important thing when looking for a GPU block is to make sure you have a reference card. The easiest way to do this is to go to www.coolingconfigurator.com . Again, please note that the site needs to be updated for the newer GPUs and EK needs to release blocks first, however, if you are buying cards at launch you can expect it to use a reference design. This is the standard design that all "standard" GPU blocks will fit on. You can expect to spend around £100 on your GPU block. You will also probably need another radiator if you want to add another GPU to your loop. There is a lot of info on radiators in the FAQ, however, you should be looking at adding a 240mm radiator to your loop for a graphics card. A lot of people will tell you that a 120mm is enough. Well that is true but it really depends on how fast you want to run your fans. In my opinion, for a reasonable fan level you should be looking at a 240mm radiator for 1 GPU and an 360 radiator for 2 additional GPUs. This applies to most GPUs with exceptions the exception being lower end GPUs. You have to remember that more radiator space means you can run your fans at increasingly lower speeds. There is a point of diminishing returns, however, if you pass it you will be spending ridiculous amounts of money and will probably know about it. In addition to this you will also need fittings and tubing. You should make sure these with the rest of your current water cooling system. You will also need extra/new coolant. In conclusion you will need; GPU block Another radiator Fittings, tubing and extra/new coolant. Waterblocks List (10/October/13) "Because the Radeon R9 280X is based on a Tahiti XT GPU (the very same GPU used on the Radeon HD 7970 and HD 7950 graphics cards) and no prescribed reference design the majority of graphics card manufactured have simply re-used it's existing circuit board design - either the most commonly used design is a AMD reference design (109-C38637) or a proprietary design such as ASUS DirectCU II and MATRIX. As a result a lot of these graphics cards can be used with EK-FC7970 CSQ series water block or other water blocks from EK's portfolio such as EK-FC7970 DCII. In order to simplify the search for suitable and compatible water block EK has added more than 15 different Radeon R9 280X (as well as numerous Radeon R9 270X and -R7 260X series) graphics cards from various manufacturers to EK Cooling Configurator database and compatible graphics cards are being added to the list on daily basis." -EKWB (source) So it seems as if most 7970/50 blocks will fit future R9 cards. Please go to www.coolingconfigurator.com and check compatibility before you buy though! Expect non-reference R9 blocks in the future as well as blocks with R9 2#0X written on then as oppose to 79#0. ***************************** Thanks for reading. I'm on a budget around 800$ to be exact. I have the ASUS 247H 1080p monitor.. Or something like that. I want to know because I saw a comment on YouTube saying that you need at least 4gb of vram to play ultra smoothly, which is probably a lie considering that I saw a guy play with the 2gb version just fine so I have no idea. Even though the R9 270X Dual-X from sapphire comes Pre-Oced, i would like to know if anybody oced it a bit more, their clocks and temperatures, mines is actually at 1160/1560 65 °C on load. I accept tips :~)

I am unsure about if this is true or not -- If I were to crossfire a 4GB 270x card with a 2GB 270x card, the memory would still be calculated at 4GB as long as I use the 4GB card as the primary card, correct? I am planning to crossfire my Sapphire 270x 4GB edition with a 270x Vapor-X, which is avaliable in 2GB. Any input is greatly appreciated, Thank You.

So I picked up this graphics card with the intenion of being able to run some games at a decent framerate for the low cost. I tried running minecraft and it was stuck at 7-11 FPS League of Legends was 10-30 fps on LOW Every game so far it has been the same deal and It's extremely frustrating! I have installed the latest drivers and everything else, re installed them, checked if it was installed correctly, and honestly I'm stuck.. I know this card can handle games because I have seen what it is capible of. My build consist of: Processor: AMD FX-8120 Ram: 8gbs cosair 1600mhz Power Supply: Cosair TX750 Watt Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 Cooling: Stock And of course the 270x Please help.

Just got another 270x from a friend and as i tried to put my new aquired gpu into my sistem i realized that my psu, a corsair ax750, doesn't have another 12 to 2x8 pin attachment ... My psu have 3x12 pin attachments, 1 is connected to an 8 pin eps on the mobo, 1 is connected to another 4 pin eps on the mobo and the last one is connected to 2x8pin on the already attached gpu... How can i connect my 2nd gpu ?

Hello guys, it's been awhile since I've stopped by here! This time i brought all y'all a puzzle. I want to upgrade my GPU tho my current setup is limiting my options significantly. I have the following ATM: ASUS m4a87td mobo (don't worry about it) AMD Phenom II x4 965BE - 125 W 4GBx2 Corsair Vengeance 1600 (running 1333) RAM SAMSUNG 840 PRO SSD 128GB 4 normal and 3 LED fans (will make sense in a second) (120 & 140 mm) GPU AMD R9 270X GIGABYTE WINDFORCE (the one with 3 fans) aaaaaaaaaaaaand the PSU: Corsair CX 430W I've hooked up my GPU via an adapter, because the PSU only has one 6 pin, and i need two to run the 270X. For these questions act like i don't want to upgrade my PSU!: 1. is there a card out there that has better performance than the 270X for the same wattage requirements. (so my PC won't catch on file) 2. If there is, can i hook it up to my PC with MAX 2 6pins, preferably just one. 3. If i can get both 1&2, Is the performance gain going to be significant enough to even bother. 4. Can the GPU support new features like Nvidia's shadowplay or AMD freesync (those are the ones I'm interested in). If the current build i have is probably the maximum I'm going to get out of this PSU, here are some other questions for ya: 5. What PSU wattage should i target for, let's say a R9 290X. 6. Can i sell my PSU&GPU and get a new pair for around 50$ more that is going to be a meaningful upgrade. 7. Should i run out and by a new PSU right away because my PC is going to iginte at any moment now? (off topic but interesting non the less) PS: The PC is stable and is running 2-3 years now with minor problems here and there, like very rare random freezes at startup.
