Anything to tinker with my Ryzen 2600x?
TaxxiDriver posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
So I'm thinking of whether I can boost performance by doing something about my Ryzen 2600x. So far, I've only done the followings: Driver updates Ryzen Balance Power Plan Set minimum processor state to 5%; Ryzen Master was reporting that my CPU EDC (whatever that means) was bottle necking the CPU (it automatically boosts... XFR2 so it's called?), and after lowering it, the Cinebench score rose slightly, so I guess it's fine and good? I'm not going to manually overclock, but I'm thinking about following possibilities: PBO; I'm not sure how I can enable it. Ryzen Master shows the option, but my mobo doesn't seem to have something labeled PBO. Maybe I have to do a BIOS update? Will it be worth it? Lowering the voltage; not sure which one I have to deal with exactly, but I heard lowering the voltage might boost the performance with the stock cooler. This is my first time doing stuff like this, so any recommendation is welcomed -
Hi community~ I am doing my first mini ITX pc and I need some suggestions and opinions towards the whole build, (especially with those marked with [?]) the parts are as follows: cpu: ryzen 5 2600x cpu cooler: stock [?] mobo: asrock - ab350 gaming-itx/ac mini itx am4 motherboard ram: antec ddr4 2666mhz 8gb x 2 ssd: crucial mx 500 250 gb hdd: any 3.5 [?] gpu: zotac - geforce gtx 1080 8gb mini video card psu: silverstone sx650-g [?] case: [?] monitor: 1080p 144hz I do a bit of adobe and want to play AAA titles with this pc, now I have 2 main questions in mind that needs some of your pro tips: 1. Choosing the smallest (vertical case preferred) case to fit all gears in, taking air flow+longevity as priority, which itx case do you think is the best for keeping my rig cool? 2. Would I be able to do 1080p in a 144hz or beyond monitor? And in general, any parts you think would be insensible/an overkill? Thanksssss soo much!!!

Looking at upgrading to a 2600x this week. Can't decide on mobo and RAM. For MOBO: I am looking at these 3 MSI X470 Gaming Plus MSI X470 Gaming Pro Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra For RAM, I am looking at spending somewhere between $150 and $180. Going to get 16gb. Not sure how much the differences between 3000 CAS 15 and 3200 CAS16 will make. Open to other options as well. Currently looking at some Team Night Hawk RGB Sticks. Any other suggestions are welcome as well.

Hello everyone I am going to buy a new CPU and other stuff here soon, but im unsure, whether or not to buy the i5 8600k or the Ryzen 5 2600x. The i5 8600k build is gonna be around $100 more. I also want something that is ok for streaming, recording and/or gaming, but I am not planning to do any 5 ghz overclocks. I might overclock a bit though. (2600x I am planning to use stock cooler, since I am not doing any huge overclocks) Here are the two builds: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rNXdMZ https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Z63jvn

Hey Guys, I recently built a new system using a Ryzen 5 2600x and am receiving a lot of issues with the CPU temperature. I have not tried to overclock due to this fact and at stock when simply just browsing google the temperatures spike constantly between 40-70 degrees, and when stress tested the temperature reaches far above 90 degrees (sometimes in the 100's), the same happens when attempting to play a game. I have tried remounting the cooler (however It seems that the cooler isn't in full contact with the CPU with one side seeming to be tilted up slightly despite installing it correctly) and re-applying thermal paste yet nothing seems to cause the temperatures to come down. The cooler I am using is a CoolerMaster Master Liquid 240ML AIO, and the temperatures seem extremely high even for a stock cooler, let alone a water-cooled system. Are there any other possible factors that could be causing such high temperatures. I have linked a parts list below. Any help would be appreciated. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4YTVLJ (Both the GPU and PSU have been pulled from my old system)

Hi guys,i am experiencing occasionaly lag on my new pc.It has ryzen 5 2600x,16gb 3200mhz ram with xmp enabled and the ascrock x470 master sli.I have done a format, update the amd graphics drivers (Rx 580),i have scan my pc for vuruses and malwares and still, chrome and especially youtube tends to lag in time to time, also,my pc rarely lags on simple things like saving a document or closing a program.I also have the samsung 860 evo 500gb.The only thing i haven't done so far is to update my bios, from pinacle 1.0.0.4 to 1.0.0.2.I don't know what else to do becouse my pc is powerful and it lags!!I really don't think it's due to windows becouse i had the same problems even when i reinstall the windows 10,for third freaking time....Thanks for your help,i really appreciate that.

Is the cooler which ships with the 2600X powerful enough to keep temps low (<75°C) while overclocking it? If not, what is a cheap alternative which gets the job done?

So i have a Ryzen 3 1300x paired with a xfx r9 390x. it does pretty well cpu oc to 4GHz, and gpu at the tipping pointing on oc. i could get a gtx1080ti, or for the same price get a r5 2600x and a gtx1070ti. rest of my build is: asus prime x370 pro (bios 3803 for 2ng series ryzen) 2x8GB ripjaw v @ 3000Mhz evo 860 500GB ssd wd blue 2TB 1000w ps (forget brand, updating soon as well) what would you all choose?

Hello, I'm planning on ditching my ancient i5 4670k for 2600X in near future. the i5 just can't keep up with AAA games and 2600X seems to offer good performance for good price and somewhat future proof due to AM4 socket. Another big deal with 2600X for me is how it does the overclocking for you via XFR. I'm a very lazy person so that is absolutely perfect for me. Plug and play. I totally understand how people enjoy tweaking the clock speeds, ect manually, trying to get that few more % of performance out of their gear, but that's just not me. The build I have planned: R5 2600X MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC (Chosen based on this review) GPU would be my existing GTX 1070. However, I'm not quite sure about what to do with RAM. I did the terrible mistake of diving into the deep end of Ryzen RAM discussion and the impression I got was that if I wasn't getting 3600Mhz Samsung B-die and overlock that, my RAM would be worthless. Jokes aside, the discussion around RAM and Ryzen can be bit overwhelming. I'm currently looking at these two kits, but not sure what to do: Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) Vengeance LPX Black, DDR4 3000MHz, 1.35V, CL15 (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15) This kit is in the approved/tested RAM list for the motherboard and G.Skill 16GB (2x8GB), Ripjaws V, DDR4 3200MHz, CL16 (F4-3200C16D-16GVKB) Not listed in the motherboard support page, but its 3200Mhz, its the top seller at the biggest PC store in my country (Finland) so it must be decent enough? Also marginally cheaper. What i'm worried about with the Gskill option is possible instability since its not listed on the MSI site...But Corsair is slower. The ideal experience for me would be boot the PC for the first time, go to BIOS, check on A-XMP, get the advertised speeds and never look back. Thanks,

I'm planning on building my first build im using a mini itx case because I travel a lot and thus won't be doing much of any over clocking. While I would like to keep the price down I have enough in the budget for any of these + a cooler (noctua NH L9i) so I wont need the stock cooler. I'm trying to decide between the ryzen 5 1600x, 2600, and 2600x I mostly play games with some light photoshop and lightroom if there is any other information you need I can reply. thanks for your help

I recently completed my first build. https://in.pcpartpicker.com/list/6mFrYT . under normal circumstances, this is really really nice. But when i start gaming(guild wars 2), with my xfr enabled, my temperatures average around 80 with occasional peaks to 90 C. The max temp was around 93 C. the temps when i do normal browsing range from 55 - 70. if i disable my xfr, my temps when gaming stay around 71 C. But i picked 2600x specifically because i don't want to overclock myself( since i don't have the technical knowledge) and get speeds more than 4 Ghz. screenshots of my msi burner logs while playing gw2: https://imgur.com/a/i3FcTJ5 I already tried remounting and new thermal paste, so that's not the problem. I only have one case fan as inlet on the front. my gpu temps average around 68. Are those temps normal? If not, how do i reduce them? thanks in advance for the help. since, gw2 is a cpu intensive game, i will post logs from watch dogs if it's helpful. Note: I attached logs of msi afterburner while playing gw2. 1:19 is the one with xfr. 1:52 is the one with xfr disabled. noxfr_unlfps.hml

So I just put together a brand new system, everything is brand new except for the gpu (750 tI) Its all said and done, turns on, but no post. We already have taken out the gpu so that is not the problem, we tried resetting the cmos with a screwdriver, not sure if it did the trick but was attempted. Not sure what is going wrong here. Any ideas? any help?

So, I've recently upgraded my build to an X470 build; -Ryzen 5 2600X -16GB 3200Mhz RAM -Palit Super Jetstream GTX 1080 I'm cooling the 2600X with a 280mm radiator in the form of a Corsair H115i AIO. Now, I've recently put it all in a shiny new case - the Corsair Carbide 275R. The 275R happily fits a 280mm radiator in the front but not in the top. There's enough length just not enough clearance between mobo and radiator. So naturally, I've got my radiator to suck air in from the front of the case and I've got one rear 120mm fan and also one in the top to exhaust warm air. Now, I'm seeing some pretty spicy heat increases with the GPU. It used to be in a larger case and therefore had more breathing room, and while it's not dangerous levels of heat now, it's certainly hotter than it was before. Is it worth it to reverse the air flow or not bother? The front bezel on the case sits fairly snug and there's not tonnes of clearance between fans and the bezel itself so exhausting might actually cause a bigger issue than it is now. For those that don't know the case, it's a solid front bezel with no mesh, but there are gaps left on the vertical sides for air to be pulled in. As I said, not worried - simply musing and wondered what the consensus is. I know hot air rises, but that goes out the window when you're forcing the air in a particular direction. To try and counteract this, I've upped the fan speed in the front of the case (2x 140mm static pressure fans) to suck in more fresh, cooler air but I'm not sure the 2x 120mm air flow designed fans are able to pull the air through fast enough for heat to escape effectively. This obviously increases noise - not that the Asetek pump in the H115i is the quietest thing ever in the first place, but still... It keeps the 2600X at a really tasty 45ish Celsius during gaming at 1440p, yet the GPU is easily still 5-10C hotter than it was in the larger case (approx 1.75 times the volume of the 275R). I'm yet to give this rig a good blast with a long gaming session, that'll have to wait until next weekend now. Thought I'd ask what you folks thought. If nothing else it's interesting reading! Ta'!

Warning: I'm a noob I was going to get myself a pair of G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 16 gb (kit of 2, for about 200$) for my new Ryzen 2600X, but then realized that its "for intel CPU's'' and there's a specific X version for AMD. The problem is that the X version is only sold at a single shop in my country and costs 35$ more (which is in total 235$ for 16gb ram) and I'm already a bit low on cash. If I get the cheaper Intel ones, will it still work fine just not overclockable? Or will it have also some other problems, perhaps with the x370 motherboard??? Btw I don't really care about ram speeds that much, around 2400-2666 is enough for me, and I only plan to overclock the CPU.

What do you think? Will we, in future, be able to have games utilise higher core count CPU's such as a Ryzen 5 2600x or intel i7 8700k? Do you think buying a six core 12 thread CPU will be a good idea for an upgrade? Or do we think that game developers will go in the opposite direction and create engines that will far better utilise current core count CPU's like 4 core 8 threads or even 4 core 4 threads?

Hi guys, so I'm trying to get a PC with Ryzen 2600X and MSI B450 Tomahawk. So the thing is, I'm wondering which ram should I pair them with. I will be choosing 2933MHz, but not sure which of them does better. Can someone tell me the pro and cons of these 2 rams. (from appearance, rgb effects to performance and compatibility) Appreciate much.

Hello So I tried to overclock my new ryzen 2600X CPU, but after I have done it, my core speed constantly fluctuate from 2.2GHz to 3.8GHz and my voltage is at 1.1875. temp stays around 36 Celsius. And is it normal to have only half of the speed running? Did I ruined the cpu or the mobo? Please tell me what should I do I even tried to reset the bios but the dropping issue is still here. This is my rig

I had my ryzen5 2600X running very smoothly this morning but after I installed the Hyper 212 Led CPU cooler to replace the stock cooler, my nightmare began. Ever since I changed into the Hyper 212 cooler, I have my gaming FPS at 30-40 lower than usual. For example, I was able to play League of Legends at around 120-150 FPS but now I only get 70-90 FPS. {CPU temp is fluctuating at 34 to 58 Celsius, GPU is also lower than 60 Celsius while gaming.} < seem to be normal I then changed back my CPU stock cooler and also unplugged and plugged my memory sticks and the graphics card back on but nothing was fixed. I think the problem seem to be too much thermal paste was applied. I used the whole pack of thermal paste that came with the Hyper 212 cooler. What might have caused this event? I am sure that my graphics card driver is up to date. CPU: Ryzen5 2600X GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1060 3GB double fan Motherboard: mATX Asus TUF B-350 gaming plus

I was overclocking my RAM and just ran a cinebench r15 test and the Ryzen 2600x is showing as a 5 core 10 thread CPU. Obviously, it is suppose to be 6 core 12 thread. What does this mean or is this just a cinebench r15 error?

Hi, I just recently switch from Intel to Ryzen 2600x and Gigabyte x470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING for streaming and editing. When I installed Ryzen Master I noticed that my vcore voltage is jumping from 0.7 to 1.45 and sometimes higher like 1.5 volts. (in CPU Z the voltage is always 0.2 or 0.3 volts higher though). Tried to adjust this in bios but you can't really do much in this bios. So i left it at stock. I did a bios update and now it seems to jump only up to 1.45. When I open the bios sometimes it still jumps up to 1.5 while in bios but when I'm in windows it doesn't do that. The interesting thing is when I stress test with prime 95 the voltage stays at 1.35 all the time in ryzen master (in CPU Z 1.38). I can set voltage on Ryzen master to 1.3 but then it just stays at that and doesn't decrease. (cpu z 1.32). After restarting the PC it's back to stock settings. My questions are: Is this voltage damaging the CPU? How can I set the voltage so it would decrease when not needed and increase to 1.3 under load? I read something about XFR increasing voltage for a brief moment is that it? A lot of people seem to have this voltage issue. Is it bad to run the system at 1.3 volts all the time? Why is the voltage reading different in CPU Z? Thanks for all the help in advance!

I have a 5 2600x with the stock cooler and arctic silver 5 thermal paste. My case has three fans (2 intake 1 exhaust). I decided to check temps with prime95 stress test and cpuid to monitor temps. My cpu default does auto oc and varies from 3.6ghz to 4.1ghz. I got 86 degrees celcius after five minutes of testing. Is this too high and if so, how do i fix it.

Hello, just upgraded my machine with a Ryzen 2600X and 16GB Flare X RAM: Installation went fine; running with STOCK Cooler (Wraith Spire) and STOCK settings, No OC, at an ASUS Prime B350-Plus motherboard (BIOS is up to date). Tested it with some gaming. BF1: Temp. 75°C Clock. ~3.9GHz on all cores. F1 2017: similar Actually, i expected different results. Like a bit lower temperature, but much higher frequencies, since it is the X model, so like 4.0-4.1 GHz. Running with prime95 12 thread it even throttles to 3.75 GHz and 90°C+. prime96 4 thread : 3.85 GHz and 90°C+ So please tell me, are these temps and clocks normal or not. And if not, did I just have bad luck with my CPU or do I have to tweak specific settings? Greetings
