Hi, I have a i5 2500k overclocked at 4.6ghz and was thinking about upgrading my cpu. I am looking at the fx-8350 but i'm not sure if it's worth it? Some say it's good some say it's worst than my 2500k. I love the low price, but I want to be sure that it's a good upgrade and that I will get better fps in games? Should I keep my 2500k and wait to get another cpu when I have more money or upgrade to the fx-8350? Thank you!

Hi, as title says, I'm searching a CPU cooler, thats under 138mm tall, so it can fit on my 2500k in Silverstone SST-GD08B USB 3.0 Grandia Desktopktop, which I am using for my HTPC (love that case). I don't need anything really expencive as the CPU is not OC'ed anymore, so no Noctuas. I was looking for Gleid Tranquilo, but thats 154mm tall What I need is something that can keep it nice and coole and its really quiet, Thanks.

So I built this machine about a year ago now, and I just thought it would be nice to share. This machine is a Hackintosh and the parts that I could use were limited so the parts were chosen for ease of setup and stability. Components Motherboard - GA-H61N-USB3 CPU - Intel Core i5 2500k @ 3.5GHz GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 550ti 8 GB Corsair RAM 32 GB OCZ Onyx SSD 500 GB Seagate Barracuda Corsair CX430 Power supply Ive went through two video cards when building this system. I initially went with a GT520 because it was known for its compatibility and it was dirt cheap, but I ended wanting more power because I got some good deals on games on steam :D so I got a 550ti. ....I have pictures of both in the system. There are some things that I do want to still upgrade, for instance I really want to replace the stock cooler. I've been looking at the H60 liquid coolers and the Intel liquid cooler because I think it looks cool, but I just can't justify blowing 60$ on something like that. If anyone has any suggestions on a good aftermarket cooler that would look great just throw out some suggestions. The motherboard I have doesn't support over clocking but I can still turn up the multiplier up to 3.7 GHz. I have done it up to 3.5 GHz but I want to get a better cooler just because I am apprehensive about how well the stock one deals with the extra heat.

Okay, so here's my situation: I was attempting to achieve a stable overclock at 4.5ghz with my 2500k on my Gigabyte Z68x-UD3H-B3 board, and everything was going well, until I turned the vcore back to auto and rebooted. Now my system posts, but I cant get into the bios, my keyboard doesnt turn on, and the system reboots. I have tried: - clearing the CMOS - unplugging and taking the battery out over night - removing all unnecessary hardware (gpu, extra drives, ram, etc.) So now I am down to 1 stick of ram, 1 SSD and my keyboard, mouse and monitor plugged in. when the pc boots, it hangs on the splash screen for about 10 seconds, and reboots. (screen -> http://www.ocinside.de/assets/mainboard/gigabyte_ga_z68xp_ud3_7.jpg) I am wondering if this would be an issue with my bios, and if so, how would I force the backup bios on this board to kick in? Or did I muck up the cpu? (I really hope not) Would it even post if the cpu was done? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Guys, Is there anyway to overclock a 2500k on the Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2-B3 (rev. 1.0)? I have such a terrible motherboard because I built my PC on a massive budget.

Hey guys so um was just wondering if the core i5 2500k is still a good processor for the next 4 to 5 years or so. still using it, overclocking it at 4.2 ghz. do you think i should upgrade to haswell or just stay with it ? i mostly do gaming so i7's won't be necessary at this point.

Hey guys, I'm hit with the upgrade bug and I want to squeeze out a little more out of my CPU. At the moment, I'm running a 2500k with a Kraken X40 and I'm currently overclocked to 4.4 Ghz at 1.34v stable, That's with a LLC lv3 and +0.04v offset and +0.05v turbo offset. I can boot at 4.6 Ghz but its unstable without pumping a lot of power into the chip. Would upgrading to a Kraken X60 or an H100i give me more headroom/stability or has my luck ran out with the silicon lottery? P.S. A good reason is that if I upgrade the CPU cooler I can buy a G10 and move my X40 to cool my 280X.

Well the title says it all. I did win the silicon lottery, so if I overclock again, I can reach 5GHz with this thing :D thanks bchampion96

Hey guys, I started overclocking my i5 2500K on my MSI Z77A-GD55. I got a stable OC at 4.5 GHz with a 1.323V (Core) and 1.206V (IO). But I would like my CPU to only go that high, when the power is actually needed. I enabled EIST and the C-States, but (according to CPU-Z) the processor is still running full speed all the time. Unfortunately, the UEFI of my board does not seem to have an Offset-Mode / Option. Any tips how I can achieve this behaviour? EDIT: The Voltages in CPU-Z are wrong. I read them from the V-Check Points on my motherboard....

Hi LTT. As the title says, I'm looking into overclocking my Intel i5 2500K as I'm feeling the lack of power in my rig. I've never overclocked a CPU before, my plan has always been to overclock my CPU at some point but I never got around to it. I have no idea of how much I'll be able to overclock the 2500K to but I'm thinking of overclocking it as high as possible. I've recently increased my interest in Noctua's products and therefore the NH-D14 is an obvious choice. Is it a complete overkill though, it has a pretty pricey price-tag but it comes with performance and silent noise level. Will I be better of with a cheaper cooler? Is there anything else I should consider before buying a cooler and overclocking my CPU? Cheers Shaqalac.

Hi. A while ago my MSI board died so bought new one (Gigabyte Z77X-D3H) but I have some problems with it. So after overclocking 2500K to 4.5Ghz at 1.33v sometimes system will not boot normally although it's perfect stable OC. When I press power button it restarts few times and then when it finally starts I need to enter bios, load optimized defaults and boot or load optimized defaults and reboot. When I enter in bios and press F10 without changing anything it boots normally but only for a while. When CPU is running at stock speeds then there isn't such problems. I have latest bios version and I tried different bios settings but nothing. P.S. Apology for my bad grammar English isn't my native language.

Hello forum, I am currently considering upgrading from my i5-2500k to the Pentium G3258. My current specs are: 12gb Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz RAM i5-2500k @ 4.2ghz Asrock p67 extreme 4 mainboard Inno3D Gtx 770 @ 1,25ghz (4,1ghz memory) My questions are: Is it worth upgrading from my current system? Is the G3258 a good choice if I am primarily interested in gaming? I mostly play WoW but I am also interested in fps like Far Cry 3, Crysis 2+3 etc. If you need to know anything else you can let me know. Thanks for your help in advance, Hendrikto

First off, I have the following motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=3856#ov (GA-Z68A-D3H-B3) Now, I haven't done anything yet, as I haven't bought a new HSF yet, but I was looking at some guides, and looking at my bios, and some things striked me as odd. I took the liberty of taking screenshots of my BIOS' settings, if that's of any benefit: http://imgur.com/a/IUXrL First off, many things mention changing my Vcore, and as best I can tell, my bios does not have that option, at least not spelled out that way. Second off, I tried near about anything to see if I could downgrade my bios, and that isn't happening So, I guess, basically, I just want to know exactly how I'm going to go about this, or even if I can overclock at all and it be stable.

Hi guys, I've setup my custom watercooling loop, which consists of an xspc raystorm CPU block, Laing D5 vario pump, dual bay res, 1x 280mm(alphacool UT60) and 1x420mm (alphacool xt45) rads. Using 3/8 5/8 primoflex advanced LRT as tubing, arctic mx-4 as thermal paste. Im just cooling my 2500k atm but i still get 60 degrees C at my 4.4Ghz overclock (125w approx.) running prime95. Fans run at 1200rpm. Pump is running at 60% speeds, cooling liquid is just distilled water with a kill coil in the res. Am I just being too optimistic about the temperatures or has something gone wrong with the mounts? Any Ideas on how to improve the situation or can someone tell me that my brain is at fault? cheers, Rik

This is my first post in the forums so bear with me . I currently have an i5 2500k on a asus p8z77-V Lx. I have interest in overclocking, but I am nervous since this my only computer and I know overvolting and overheating can easily destroy a cpu. I have a tiny, tiny over clock of 3.7 (as compared to the base 3.3). I have a cooler master hyper 212 with 2 fans on it and arctic silver thermal paste. Would it be realistic to reach 4.3? I just want to gain knowledge on overclocking in general, but I do not want to dive in blindly and cause my cpu to die. I do know some terms so dont be afraid to throw overclocking terms or computer terms. So I am looking for tips, how in general reguarding voltages, limits, etc. Thanks!

Hey all, I have had my i5-2500K running stock (3.3GHz - 3.6GHz turbo) since the end of 2011, and I feel that its time to venture into the world of overclocking. I know only the basics about overclocking K series CPUs, including changing the multiplier and the core voltages to match. I have a Corsair H105, 16GB of Kingston HyperX Fury @ 1600Mhz, and a ASUS ROG 780 Ti Matrix Platinum on the way soon and so I'm trying to learn how to overclock safely before they arrive. All this will be running on my trusty Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboard (Rev 1.3, Version F12), which uses an AWARD BIOS (No UEFI, just standard EFI). I have a few questions. Should I bump up both the turbo boost frequency and the non-boost frequency so that its something like 4.0 --> 4.5 turbo? Should I disable turbo boost altogether and have the CPU running 4.5 GHz all the time? What settings (apart from frequencies and core volts) should I be changing when overclocking? Like the PLL settings and all that jazz? I don't know what they do! In what increments should I be increasing the voltages and how do I know how much volts I need? Thanks in advance for all your help. I know that some of you here are OC experts and I would be very grateful if you were to impart some OC wisdom upon me!

All, This is my first post on this forum so first i would like to say hello to everyone! I have a question i would like some feedback on but i would like for said feedback to be subjective and not based on opinion and this concerns two different CPU manufacturers. I am debating on the optimal setup for my main rig and have two system i would like to reconfigure for the best setup. This first is my current configuration on my main rig: ASUS P8P67 DELUX Intel I5-2500K 32GB Corsaie Dominator 1866 Nvidia GeForce 560TI 2 x 2TB WD Black HDD (RAID1) 2 x 1TB WD Green (RAID1) 1 x 300GB 10k Raptor (for VM's) Corsair H100 CPU Cooler Corsair 850watt PSU (some additonal cards not important) The second rig: ASUS M5A990x EVO R2.0 AMD FX 8320 16GB Corsair XMP 1333 4 x 500GB WD Black RE (RAID5) DATA) 1 x 250 WD Blue (OS) ATI HD45xx (Cheap used for my wife to play sims on the system) Stock Cooler So my question is this, should i be running the Intel or the AMD on my Semi-Gaming Rig? I do a lot with virtual machines and my intention was to utilize the AMD system a an ESX host but have found myself using this system as my mail Virtual Host. So i put it to you AMD VS Intel? (EDIT) Just to clerify, i own both of these rigs and want to put the two together (swap parts) to get the best single rig. (or leave the one i have alone)

Hi, working on lowering my voltage any setting I've got wrong that might help when I start lowering the voltage to keep the system stable. Voltage set to 1.36 in BIOS runs at 1.352 passive and drops to 1.344 under load currently. Thanks =)

Hello nice fellas, i seem to incounter some problems with my setup, here it goes: I have no idea what's happening =)))))))) Jokes aside, i can't seem to find a stable clock for my baby, i'm on the stock cooler, waiting for an AIO, so i was roaming around 3.3-3.8, but i can't seem to nail the settings/voltages on this board, if i reset to default, sh*) goes sideways, my clocks& voltages jump around like crazy, and i BSOD randomly, so i was trying the manual way, but Z77 is a bit different from my common Z68 which i used to OC on, so it seems like i can run 3.6 on 1.368 v, which is crazy, but i managed to hit 5.0 bootable and Cinebanch-able (is this a word?) but after 20 mins or fendering at 1.398 v it crashed, i declared myself a happy OC-er and reverted to 3.6. The problem is that if i stress it properly, Prime95 small fft and a video playing in the background, i receive a BSOD in 10 mins aprox, no matter the voltage. My question is, can someone experienced and having a z77 board with a Sandy, teach me the dark ways of stabilizing this? I would be his apprentice forever, Thanks fo' reading.
