Hello everyone. I been playing console FPS games from an LG 27EA63 IPS monitor but I feel like it's too big of a monitor since I sit about 2 feet away from the screen. I would like to downsize to a 24" monitor and was wondering what would be a great choice for me to go with? I been taking a look at the ASUS VG248QE. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm giving up on trying for my 27" triple monitor setup. The only 27" monitor with slim enough bezel to not affect gaming, VESA mountability, and 1440 for high resolution was the ROG Swift $799 x 3 = $2,397. (1080p looks horrid on any monitor over 24"). So, after giving up on that pipe dream, i'm looking for the same type of setup in 23"-24" monitors. I'm looking for slim to no bezel monitors with VESA compatibility. That's really the thing i'm interested in the most. I'm want to pay around $299, but if it's a good enough monitor i will go up to $399 - $449. I do not want to go with a TN panel due to having to look straight at it; that would make it very bad for surround gaming. If it matters, i'm looking to mount them with arm mounts for much better utility. Thanks guys, ~Shark

Im looking for a monitor with a 24", 120-144hz, 1080p display as you can see in the title. My budget is $500 and under. Im looking at the Asus VG248QE (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313), and Benq xl2411z (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014376). Im looking for a monitor for fps. Is investing in a GSYNC monitor worth the investment for my gtx 970? I dont really understand the importance of gsync... While response times and refresh rate are very important to me, I also really want good colors and decent viewing angles. I dont want to sacrifice one for the other which I feel I'm doing with either of the two monitors above. Please give me suggestions and let me know about upcoming monitors/ technologies that might be worth waiting for. Thanks.

I've been following along and figured I'd give everyone a chance... The first two letters that have been given are U and U. So feel free to chip in about the new letters presented because I'm sure some people want sleep. Best of luck to all!

Hi! Does anyone have any suggestions about a good monitor? I would like a 24-27 inch screen, probably an IPS panel (for the colors), and around 60hz would be enough because I will have a GTX 760 in my build.. It would also be nice if the monitor would have a tv built in but it is not so important.. The price should be around 280 EUR or about 340 USD

Hi guys, I'm looking to get a new 23-24 in monitor. I really like the look of a glossy monitor, and I'm not too concerned with the glare that I may or may not have. What are some of the best monitors with a glossy panel that don't cost an arm and a leg? Thanks!

Hi all, I'm looking for the cheapest 24" monitor possible. It doesn't matter to me if it's made for gaming, or IPS or whatever. (I don't really notice a difference) No 3D needed. Preferably 60 Hz to match my current monitor. It's also ok if the size is 23.6", but no other size. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! By the way, I'm in Canada so I would need something available to me here.

I really don't understand why 24FPS would be better then 30 or 60, besides the fact that is less smooth and causes more eye fatigue and seems less stable, but wtves, I just can't understand why use 48FPS?! If you accepted that 24FPS is bullsh!t why just don't go for 60 already instead of using the double of something you just ignored? (no rage comments please, just a little bit of flaming and discussion thats all)

So i have this 42" 1080p TV lying around that is not being put to use, so i'm thinking of using it as a gaming monitor (no hate plz ). I want to have a triple monitor setup, but i don't have the space for 3x(42") monitors on my desk (and quite frankly it seems excessive), so i was thinking of having the 42" TV landscape, and putting two portrait monitors either side of it. By my calculations my 42" screen is 37" wide and 21" tall, so i could get 2x24" monitors ( which i assume are 21" wide) and place them portrait, which would be the same height as my tv. So my questions are: 1. Are my calculations correct? (ie is a 24" monitor 21" wide) 2. Will this work with Nvida surround? 3. Is this a stupid idea ?

$400 off, looks pretty decent considering it comes pre calibrated to a Delta-E<2. http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Gaming_Accessories/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&sku=860-BBCD

Hiya, As you can tell from the title, I'm in need of a new monitor. At the moment I'm using a 22" Bush TV (very cheap, bad quality, bad viewing angles, etc... I'm a newb to monitors, so I don't really know what $250 can get me, but any brand is good, especially BenQ, or Asus. I game with a medium/high spec intel/gtx pc, so I would like to know if 144hz is better than 1440p, vice versa. P.S, 1ms response time would be ideal, although 2ms is the limit for me. Anyways, I hope to hear from anyone soon!

At a forum that I use to go, I received a huge testament just because I recommended a 27" 1440p monitor to a guy that will make 780ti SLI. He is always attacking 1440p and higher resolutions than 1080p, and saying the same things. So, what do you guys think of this? I will quote (I used google translator, sorry for the bad english ) : " You have 2 monitors, one 1440p 50 " and 22" 1080p . You think you have a better definition on the 50" monitor only because it has more pixels ? ... An even more extreme example ? A 1440p monitor that occupies a whole wall , 4m by 2.5m ... you still think you'll have better quality / definition Photo ? Resolution is different from definition or image quality, The 1440p as recommended by someone , may not actually have better quality / definition than a 1080p one , may simply have a larger screen with a higher number of pixels to render. You just have a better definition 1440p monitor when the number of pixels per cm2 is higher than on a 1080p display, or if the pixel size is smaller. To give you an idea, an 1080p 21.5" monitor is roughly the same size in pixels of a 27" 1440p monitor. If the pixel size is identical , you have approx. the same number of pixels per cm2, therefore, the image resolution that both present is similar, except if the larger monitor has features that allow for a higher quality image, of course , but that has nothing to do with the resolution . Therefore , saying that it is better to play with medium details at 1440p than everything maxed out at 1080p, overcomes the barrier of reasonable. I believe you have never done the test , otherwise you would say no such thing ... A good 27" 1440p monitor does have better definition than a 1080p 24 " , but this difference is similar to the difference between a ~ 22 " vs 24 " monitor . If they are both equal , have the same characteristics , the smaller monitor is slightly better because pixels are smaller, therefore, larger number of pixels per cm2 . Like 27" has an equivalent definition of the 22" one , the 30" is similar to a 2560x1600p 24 ~ 25" 1080p . If running 2560x1440 pixels on a 24" monitor, that would result in a much more defined image, but still a game at medium would always look worse than other in Very- high at 1080p ... I dont have the least doubt . Now , with less than 300 € purchase yourself a 120 or 144Hz monitor, these yes, apparently they are ideal for games and there are considerable differences in the fluidity of play, which is what the picky gamer want . For 200~250 € you already buy great 23" 24" monitors with IPS panel, and I believe this are the best ones for being one meter away from the nose. Not only will you save a lot of money but also you will have the best graphic performance for longer ... This resolution is very heavy even for a GTX 780ti . Make no mistake , even the GTX 780ti is not able to present a satisfactory rate of frames in the most demanding today's games on a 1440p monitor ... and that already lets guess what is coming for the next 2 or 3 years! (even worse) for 200~250 € you already buy great 23" 24" monitors with IPS panel, and I believe this are the best for being one meter away from the nose. As for the nose, this is it: most of us spend most of the time within 1 meter away from the monitor, and for this distance, a 24 or 25" monitor is ideal. Ultra HD monitors ... not worth talking about them as there is no hardware for them. " by an artist named "Maxw3ll" at some forum

So I accidentally knocked in to my screen earlier today and I damaged the panel itself. Such a component will very likely be more expencive to fix then to just get a new one, thus I'm looking for a replacement for my monitor. My old screen was an older Samsung model, its one of the business oriented models so it lacks the "bling" of the consumer models. This is a big plus in my book as I prefer a clean look in front of glossy paint. It is the Samsung Syncmaster 2443 with a resolution of 1920x1200 and it's 24" in size. For a new monitor I'm looking forsomething in the same size and resolution but preferably with an IPS panel. I'm also considering making the jump to a 2560x1440 screen as I find that would be my best bet if I want an improvement (that would be a 27" screen though). I have been looking at a lot screens but I will mention a few that I think fit my bill the best for now, if you know of any in the same price range or has any arguments agains them then that would be apreciated. I will most likely make the purchase as soon as possible, so speedy answers are apreciated. I would prefer a speedy answer as I have to use my compuer with an old CRT screen that I found and I really don't enjoy the old 1024x768 reslution. So far the Dell UltraSharp U2412M seems to be my best bet in a 24" screen, but I am unsertain if there are newer contestants on the market that can beat this one on price and quality. As for 2560x1440 monitors, it seems to be the AOC q2770Pqu and the PHILIPS 272C4QPJKAB that are reasonable priced. They do cost 1/3 more then the Dell screen so I'm unsure if it's worth it. As for 4k screens they would be double the price of the dell screen for the cheapest so they are way out of my budget. I would apreciate any input on this matter and if people advice me to look for other alternatives and wait for now, then I will do my best to postpone it when I look for better alternatives.

Looking for a 24" 1080p monitor for under $200 canadian. So far I've been looking at the Benq RL2450HT. Only thing is its a TN but I hear they aren't the best for colour reproduction but are great for gamers becuase of the fast response time. Is this correct as I have no experience with TN. I previously owned a VA panel from Benq (don't know the model) and I really liked the colour it produced. If you guys/gals could help find me a great one for the price. I also game so something with less input lag would be great as well. if it can pivot and has a matte bezel that'd be a bonus.

I'm sick of using my bad, 32 inch tv as my monitor, and I wanna get a real PC monitor. Im on a tight budget though, and am wondering what the cheapest would be for around a 24 inch sized 1080p monitor. I found a Dell NA P2212HB for 39 dollars used, but its also a 22 inch monitor. Does 2 inches make a big difference? Some help would be great!

I'm sick of using my huge TV as my monitor and want an actual PC monitor. Im looking to spend around 100 bucks, want a 24 inch screen, and 1080p. I really like the look of the Dell S2340M with the small bezels and glossy display. Is there anything similar to that?

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum but have been watching linustechtips videos for a year or so now so I thought this would be a good place to come! My girlfriend has decided that she wants to buy me a new Monitor for my birthday (best girlfriend ever!). The budget is around £350 - £400 like the Benq xl2720z http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-098-BQ&groupid=17&catid=1120 . My problem is I'm not sure if something like that will be wasted on me and I should look at cheaper monitors and other upgrades insted. I play any game that interests me, FPS, RPG, RTS whatever. Its all about the experiance, gameplay, great visuals and immersion for me when playing. My current set up is: Monitor: Hp 22" 16:10 at 1680x1050 PC: Intel i5 3450, 8gb ram, GTX 760, 128gb ssd (OS and some games) 1tb hdd (storage) My PC is pretty much all for gaming as most of my general internet usage like youtube and netflix etc (and extras like music production) is done on my 27" iMac at 1440p. Now all that is out of the way here are my options. Getting a 24" or 27" 1080p gaming monitor eg the benq xl2720z. A 27" 1440p monitor and just play at 1080p and upgrade my gfx later, or one of those 21:9 ultra wide monitors as they have kind of caught my eye. Or just get a cheaper 1080p display and a new gfx card or something. I would really appreciate any input and other suggestions!

I have for the past two years been using a 24inch 1080p TV. Only recently I have been looking at monitors. I am in need for a 2nd screen, so for the past two days I have looked at several monitors and still can't decide what to get. I do have a few in mind. My budget is max £250 but I'm not sure if it is worth spending that much on a monitor. Here are some of the monitors I have looked at: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-097-BQ&groupid=17&catid=1851 http://www.amazon.co.uk/ViewSonic-VX2270SMH-LED-1080p-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B009F1HUMQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-2&keywords=viewsonic+ips http://www.amazon.co.uk/AOC-I2369VM-inch-Monitor-50000000/dp/B00BDBWE0Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408301650&sr=8-1&keywords=aoc+ips - http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-VE247H-Widescreen-Intelligence-Technology/dp/B004T2LMP2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1408301709&sr=8-2&keywords=gaming+monitor I do play all kinds of games but mainly LoL, CSGO, HS and FIFA. Last question, is there a big difference between TN and IPS panels, also is response time noticeable, for example 1ms and 8ms will it affect my game? (please don't say there is a 7ms difference ) and lastly 60hz and 144hz. (I could not find any 120hz monitors) Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, I'm currently looking for a new monitor for a new system (Still using my old system at the moment). I'm looking for a 21" to a 24" monitor that are 1080p. While looking around I have found 2 monitors that stand out to me, but I'm unsure as to which I should get. Monitor 1: Acer 21.5" v226HQL Abd Full 1080p (Check) DVI & HDMI (Check, HDMI for my Xbox 360 (don't hate me)) Between my tolerance of 21" - 24" (Check) 8ms Response Time Link: http://goo.gl/zSCFpg Monitor 2: LG 21.5" 22EA63V Full 1080p (Check) DVI & HDMI (Check, HDMI for my Xbox 360 (again, don't hate me)) Between my tolerance of 21" - 24" (Check) 5ms Response Time Link: http://goo.gl/NKvTxM Now as to WHY I can't decide. The Acer monitor is a VA Panel and the LG monitor is an IPS Panel. Which one is the better, ie: produce the best looking image.?The graphics card I'm looking at is the Gigabyte GTX 760 2GB Windforce edition. (Link: http://goo.gl/c4kXtF). I don't want to use a TN panel because I don't like the viewing angels. As for gaming, I tend to play a lot of Batman AC and AA (Looking to start AO soon), also a fair bit of Minecraft with a high res texture pack, and some BF3 (Looking to get BF4 soon as well) If you can find a better monitor then please leave your suggestion and a link. (My budget is £100 - £125 max) Thanks ever so much for all of your help.

Hi all, I've just posted this thread about what to upgrade and I've decided to get two new monitors, so I though I would post about it here, and close the other thread. I do very casual gaming so I'm no looking for a gaming monitor at all. My main work is programming, and with that I do some photo, video and sound editing. I have 2 - 2.5k to spend, I'm in Australia, and I'm not really sure what to get. I prefer colour accuracy over refresh rate, but I dont want a 30hz panel, I run a 7970 so have 2x Mini DP. I would even be happy to sell the 7970 and get something else so I could run 60hz 4k on both displays (not in games though). I'm also not sure whether to go 24" or 27" or 4k or 1440p? These are my options; I would ideally want 27" 4k colour accurate, something like the Dell UP2414Q ($1274) but 27". I can't find any 27" 4k displays that are colour accurate though. I think my second choice would be to go with the Dell UP2414Q and a nice stand like the SilverStone ARM22SC ($259). My third choice would be to go with a 27" 1440p, probably the Asus PA279Q (1089) or the Samsung S27B970D ($979). So what does everyone else think? Does anyone know of any colour accurate 27" 4k displays? What option do you think I should go with, keep in mind that I don't care about gaming at 4k at all, but I would much prefer a 60hz panel over 30hz. Cheers Charlie
