I just built a new pc with the asus rog pg348q. I am considering bringing my xbox upstairs, but it can only run at 16:9. My monitor is 21:9. Anyone know how I can make it run at 16:9?

I've been looking into the Ultrawide aspect ratio. It seems pretty appealing, but I don't feel like spending $1k for a good experience. What is the cheapest Ultrawide monitor that someone could recommend? I don't want the cheapest overall option, unless it is justifiably good.

I feel as though I should get a final answer to this question. All of my friends at sixth form believe it to be the latter, but in any case, HERE IS THE QUESTION:

Hi, I recently got a GTX 1080 and would like to stretch it's capabilities a little... Currently I have 1 24" 144Hz 1080p monitor and 1 60Hz 1080p monitor, but would like to upgrade this setup for relatively cheap. I have a few ideas in mind... 1. Get 2 24" curved 1080p monitors and run surround with my 144Hz in the middle and sell my 60Hz one (£300) 2. Get a 4K monitor (Not my favourite idea as I like to play games on Ultra settings at good FPS) 3. Get an Ultrawide monitor, 2560 x 1080 is looking more likely as it is cheaper but I would prefer a 3440 x 1440, if anyone knows any cheap monitors that fit this please tell me My preference is the single 3440 1440p ultrawide monitor, however these are all quite expensive. I am looking for one around the £300 - £400 mark, if that is possible please let me know. If this is not, I would like some opinion on which would be better, 2 24" curved 1080p monitors to go either side of my 144Hz one, so I can play competitive games on the 144Hz and casual games in surround (however have to deal with the bezel) or to get one 2560 x 1080 ultrawide monitor.

#myfirstreturnpost#hopeIdidntmessup I'm thinking about upgrading to a better monitor from my old Dell 28inch 4K Monitor-- the main reason is that the old one only supports 30hz on 4K, which does not make the game look good. I've learned my lesson about caring about resolutions over refresh rates.... Also the scaling on 4K is terrible. So the main question is should I buy a 21:9 monitor now or should I wait a few more months(are some of the manufacturers releasing new monitors)? I've been looking at the 1300 dollars priced Acer Predator X34. It is quite some investment for me and I expect at least 5 years out of the monitor if I were to put this amount of money in it. However I've heard that the monitor weren't all that perfect. One problem is the light bleeding on complete dark settings. A second issue is that the refresh rate is not 120 nor 144 which is what I really prefer(to 'future compatible'). Also I've also heard that many games does NOT support 21:9..... I generally play witcher3, shadow of Mordor, Assasins Creed(s), Tomb Raider(s), Far Cry, Civilization, elderly Scrolls and so on. Also I'm upgrading to GTX1080 and I'm on a 4790K and am not planning on upgrading that unless otherwise suggested. Anther would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hey LTT-Forums! Since i just upgraded to my 1080, i'd need some further help to upgrade my PC even more. My current Hardware: i5-4670, 8GB RAM, GTX 1080 STRIX, 21:9 1440x3440 Monitor, 2TB HDD. - Should i upgrade to Skylake or wait for Kaby Lake? - Should I buy an SSD? Hello! I'm looking for a new monitor since I need a bit more desktop space doe to programming and I want moar pixels. I have an Asus VG278H currently and it's been a great monitor but the 1080Pness is starting to bug me when I go from my MBP to my desktop. Also the color banding in games and videos. My current monitor would be as a second monitor. So I am debating on whether to get a UHD 27 inch monitor like the LG 27UD58 or an ultrawide like the LG 34UC88. Is there a huge difference in fidelity? The UHD monitor is quite a bit cheaper and has more pixels, but the quality might be worse. Not many reviews on the UD58, but many have said there is some backlight bleed on the more expensive but older UD68. If there are any other monitors I should be aware of PLEASE tell me. I have been trying to decide for the past weekend, but I have come up with nothing. Budget is ideally 600 euros max, BUT if there is a super duper good monitor for 700, I might consider it. Please note I am located in Finland (EU) so US sales don't really apply. I hope someone can help a man in distress Help is much appreciated! Edit: Gaming is not a priority.

PC monitor 21:9 2560x1080 25" monitor 16:9 2560x1440 24" monitor I mostly watch tv/movies and some causal gaming. (played bioshock, and planning to get fallout, project cars, doom) I'm new to gaming so response time really doesn't make a difference, but running at 60fps is appreciated currently running i5 6500 with whatever igpu it has, 40-50fps in bioshock infinite, but want something better so... Getting a 1060 gtx or 480 rx eventually price: <200$ what would be better overall?

Can't seem to find any info about this so here goes: How well does DisplayFusion software work with OBS + Running two virtual monitors? I'm looking at getting an Lg 29" ultrawide for a mixture of productivity and gaming. The gamut, response, and resolution are a good mix IMO between accuracy, and ability to be run by my current hardware (GTX 970). The only issue I could see would not be in photography/video/personal gaming, but in the occasional game capture I'd require. Since streaming/recording in 21:9 is still quite far from "norm", would it be possible to play a fullscreen game in one section of the screen? My ideal scenario would be splitting up this monitor into a 16:9 section to run "fullscreen" games, a 5:9 section to read chat, and then a second monitor for video preview. TL:DL Can I run a fullscreen, 16:9 game alongside a 5:9 usable window, using one monitor? Anyone have experience with this software or others? TY!

Hello all, thanks for stopping by. I am going to give a TL:DR now because I'll go more in depth then some may like so here is the basic issue and then for better details continue reading. TL:DR = I can't get my videos to work properly from 21:9 to 16:9 on YouTube anymore. I export in h2.64 with Premiere and could previously fullscreen in both aspect ratios in the YouTube player. No longer can I do that it seems. I can't figure out how to get just 16:9 to work either now coming from 21:9. Any tips? (the video is 1920x1080 after Premiere and looks fine on my phone, it's after YouTube that is breaks) I record gameplay of video games at 2560x1080 using shadowplay, as I think it has the best quality, best file size, ease of use, and least system demanding. I have had no problems editing with Adobe Premiere and uploading in 21:9. I didn't want to neglect the majority of viewers, so I used Premiere to convert to 1920x1080. It worked great up until a week or so ago when all of my videos converted to the 21:9 aspect ratio after I uploaded another video. I import in 2560x1080, 29fps, recommended bit rate ect. I export with a custom preset, using h2.64, but to get it to fullscreen properly with no letterboxing (black bars top and bottom) I use HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333) Aspect setting. When exported, I can still fullscreen on my ultrawide, and when viewing on my phone (transfer over) or other 16:9 display it fullscreens too. However, when I upload it to YouTube, it no longer fills the 16:9 aspect ratio while simultaneously filling my ratio too, like it had in the past. I'd rather they be pure 16:9 then both if it means it will never be 16:9, it was a miracle it fullscreened properly for both ratios honestly when uploaded. That was as short as I could get it with being thorough and explaining the situation. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this, or to export properly? I prefer to have 1080p but will settle for 720p, but after over a dozen export trials on an Outlast 2 demo video I did, I can't for the life of me get it to be only 16:9, or resolve my issue to before. Here is a link to the Outlast 2 Demo video because I mentioned it above so you can understand what I mean. If you have a 21:9 display, it should fullscreen fine. But 16:9 users will have letterboxing. You can tell there is an issue immediately because without fullscreening, the YouTube player isn't using the all the space before you expand the window. There is letterboxing there too. It seemed to be when I uploaded a video that they all converted, even though it was the same format as previous ones. Note that this is in fact a 1920x1080 video, as confirmed when I look at the video properties, not 2560x1080 like the first part to the Amnesia AMFP I did. I appreciate any and all advice or thoughts on the topic, I wish YouTube hadn't thrown me this curve ball as even though my viewership is literally just my friends, I enjoy making videos more than I have been working on my major and seem to have a built in passion for film/photography that I'd like to pursue. I have contacted YouTube support at least twice, and the first time they said they had some people working on it but no ETA for a fix. I don't know if I can still believe that or not but would rather get an opinion from someone who's probably dealt with it more and has much more experience in what I'm trying to accomplish. Alright, I'm building a new PC and am getting a new monitor to go with it. I thought about 4K, but when I saw the 21:9 monitors, I feel in love. I'll be picking this up on Cyber Monday, so hopefully I can get a good deal on it since I'm not looking to spend more than $400 on one. This monitor will be gaming only. No Photoshop or anything fancy like that. But Battlefield 1 will definitely see some play with my new 1080 Founders Edition =D Any ideas on what to get?

Okay lads in that time of the year again, christmas. I'm having a bit of a dilemma, what upgrade to my setup do I make? Im currently using 2 x Viewsonic 24" 1ms 144hz and I have a Zotac GTX 970 AMP Omega edition w/ a i7-4790k. I want to upgrade to the new Pascal cards, but I feel as if i've left it too late to upgrade now as they will have been out near 6 months by the time I will have upgraded. At the same time, I want to upgrade one of my main panels to a 21:9 ultrawide (I'd have to go for one of the ones with 1440p/4k res to make sense. Now as I cant find a true 4k 21:9 monitor that has a decent response time on it, I feel as if the Acer Predator x34 would make the most sense as its a 1440p panel with a 4ms response time and it looks beautiful I could also have the chance to get the GTX 1080, but six months into the life span I feel like there will be another huge performance leap like there was this time around. Plus it doesnt make proper sense because I have 1080p panels (Unless I super sample) My problem is too what if there was to be 4k 21:9 panels eventually? I'm just finding the choice difficult (I know this thread is first world problems in a nutshell, but wanted other opinions)

So, Soon I will be getting an ultrawide monitor (2560x1080) but I would keep my current 1080p 16:9 monitor. Will I be able to run both of them at once without any issues? Could I play a game on the ultrawide and have discord/youtube on the 16:9? Could I play games with the ultrawide and 16:9 running like a normal dual monitor display? Thanks, ZacXanderg.

Hello, I was wondering what would be optimal res for converting 16:9 aspect video to 21:9. before someone asks 'why don't shoot you at 21:9 aspect in the first place?' Well, these videos are gameplay videos recorded on a 1080p screen at 16:9 aspect ratio. I use Adobe premiere pro and used 1920*823 resolution to make the video look like 21:9. When I uploaded the video to youtube, there were small black bars on the side in theater mode; which shouldn't be the case if the video is 21:9. Am I doing something wrong? Here's how I came up with 1920*823 resolution 1920/21 = 91.428 91.428*9 = 822.857 rounded off to 823

There is a lot of discussions on monitors based on refresh rates and input lag, ppi, etc and it all revolves around gamers who play fps type games, but what about those who don't? What about those who just play MMOs or single player games, do we really need a 144hz monitor with low input lag or can we dive down to something lower without any hindrance? Would like some input, thanks

Looking for an ultrawide monitor with 1440p, >=100hz, Freesync + LFC and ~1800R curve at max. 800€ (around 950$), I found this new monitor coming up. The data sheet looks sexy (especially the HDR10 feature, even though some critics say they've no idea how it should work with that display), but I'm wondering what you guys are thinking. I'll use it mostly for gaming and movies or stuff like coding. Was also looking at the Philips 349X7FJEW, but the BenQ seems to be better. I don't really want to import displays, especially because of the 21% taxes I'd have to pay and the problematic support in case of problems like dead pixels. Any tips or suggestions?

I'm looking for an affordable monitor mount that can hold my 27" display and my 29" 21:9 display. I'm seeing most list as accepting 27" max so i'm not sure if the wider monitor would cause an issue. Anyone have any experience/suggestions for this. Just looking to get them off my desk for a bit of extra space.

I've been a long-time LTT subscriber, but this is the first time I'm posting on the site, so "Hi!" I recently picked up the Samsung C34F791 UWQDH monitor and I'm absolutely loving the display! But I'm having issues with the audio when I enable FreeSync. The audio works fine from a cold boot of the PC and monitor, but as soon as I go into a fullscreen, 3D game the audio will stop working and the only way to get it back is if I power-cycle the monitor. When I have FreeSync disabled either within the AMD Radeon settings, or the monitor's OSD the audio works fine. I have the monitor connected to an MSI R9 290. Does anyone else have this monitor and have this issue or know how to resolve it? So my gaming habits have changed a bit in that I now go to my buddies places more and more often with my machine. Since my only display is an ultrawide that is very difficult. I like the display....no doubt about it, but it isn't like I am dying when I only use a 16:9 for something else. I even tried using a 16:9 format for gaming on my 21:9 Monitor with black bars and forgot about it very quickly.....i dunno. Now you might be thinking "get to it already you...." and you are right. I ordered a refurbished MG24UQ for only 250 bucks. Super cheap for a very nice compact display that can either be used well for 4k or 1080p. It has yet to arrive, but I was so surprised about the amazing price on eBay (from an actual retailer that I actually bought the ultrawide from) that I just put a bid in at the minimum price and got it. I can send it back so no harm is done. In general my thought was that I like high res gaming and will probably sooner or later have a gpu that can drive that. I want a more portable monitor and the MG24UQ can actually be disassembled with a simple click. I don't mind 60hz much and freesync is still.in the box when dipping below that. I love IPS, which I would still have. Ultrawide is nice but lacks support still. I am looking at you Fallout 4...and many others. And I like the idea that 1080p looks good on a 4k screen because of it just being 4 times less pixels....well you get what I mean. Now if you say that 4k looks much better on a bigger screen...well yeah...maybe, but I already had a 28" 4k screen once and it wasnt all that great to sit in front of a huge screen like that. And I like that I can disable AA in games and just get a sharp image. Well I guess I will see. Also of course if anyone is curious about the monitors or anything you want me to look into, feel free to ask. I will be home on Sunday and then try out a few things. Monitor should get to me on saturday.

I am purchasing the monitor for gaming and movies (21:9 Ideal) – productivity is not that important to me I will just be using the monitor for general browsing activities such as YouTube etc…. So, I was planning on making an upgrade to my room and improving my gaming setup a little. I was considering whether I should just buy 2 ultra wide 144hz monitors or 3 full hd 144hz monitors. The thing is that I'm going to be learning professional video editing and 2D and 3D modeling, so I really don't know what would bring a better professional and gaming experience and would be most affordable. Also, have in mind that I have an Nvidia video card, so I want to know if monitors that use FreeSync would make for a decent experience or if I would have to shell out more money to find a screen that's compatible with G-Sync. Keep in mind that I would not buy all the monitors at the same time, so I have to worry about whether the display I choose to be my main will be decent on its own. I'm currently using my 40" TV as a display through HDMI. I'm eager to see what DisplayPort is capable of. Thanks for the attention in advance.

Hey I'm literally a fews days away from receiving my new gtx 1080 ti and because of this I would like to upgrade from my 1080p 60hz monitor to a 21:9 monitor. My one problem is that even though I'm getting a 1080ti I'm not loaded. I cant afford the acer x34 and asus equalivant. I can easily get a monitor for half the price if I compromise on one thing. The refresh rate or resolution the problem being I cant decide which to compromise on. Also another thing from stopping me just saving up like I did for the 1080 ti to get the tip top acer or asus is that can you really game on a 21:9 monitor at 144hz at 1440p on triple a games? I hope that someone can have an input to help me decide! Thanks!
