Got my HP Spectre x360 today. Its the late 2018 model with the following specs and gem cut design : Processor: Intel I7 8750H hexa-core processor @2.20Ghz Video Card: Geforce 1050Ti with Max-Q Design & Intel 630 via Optimus Technology Memory: 16GB LPDDR3 (Dual Channel) Storage: 256GB Toshiba M.2 NVMe SSD [Soon to be upgraded to 1TB Crucial P1 M.2 NVMe SSD] Display: 4K WLED Display @60Hz Battery: 6-cell, 84 Wh Lithium-ion Battery Color: Poseidon Blue Ports: 2x USB Type-C™ Thunderbolt™ 3 (supports HP Sleep & Charge, DP1.4, PD 3.0, Data Transfer); 1x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A (HP Sleep and Charge); 1 HDMI; 1 headphone/microphone combo Additional Features: Fingerprint Reader, IR Camera w/ Windows Hello, Intel® 802.11b/g/n/ac (2x2) Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 5 Combo(MU-MIMO supported) Basically, I am testing this laptop and so far I've had it for a few hours and it is AMAZING. Not a single complaint, but I know that this laptop comes in many models and no one has really done a solid 100% review of this laptop. I am not a content creator but I am more than willing to answer any questions at all or run tests and provide results for anything that anyone with questions about this laptop would like to request. Please let me know what you'd like to know/see and I will provide. So far this post is pretty spot on https://www.reddit.com/r/spectrex360/comments/9xzllv/gemcut_hp_spectre_x360_15_i7_8750h_gtx_1050ti_maxq/?sort=new Below are some section specific corrections/additions to what is mentioned in the post above : -[Thermals - 5/5] So far, I have not done any extensive thermal testing so I will update this section once I have more information; However, within the few hours I've had it, I did a simple league game just to test and for the duration of a 32minute league game, this laptop did not exceed 75c. Will update soon, and anyone who would like specific thermal tests please let me know below -[Wireless Connectivity - 5/5] I did a wifi speed test on Xfinity 150mb/s internet ( not ISP equipment, but using Ubiquiti equipment ) from two rooms away and got a perfect 168mb/s down and 12mb/s upload. Went all over my house and even outside the front door and found absolutely no disconnections/slowdowns. So far so good, again if you've got any specific scenario or more extensive testing you'd like please let me know and it will be done otherwise I may not look further into this but will inform if I come across anything on everyday usage at home and elsewhere. -[Keyboard - 5/5] I may just be sucking off HP here, but this keyboard is AMAZING. Best laptop keyboard I have EVER used. Spectre line has always been praised for its keyboard but this one is honestly top of the charts. It feels really good, and while it may take some getting used to because of the island num pad causing the trackpad to be a bit off-center, if that isn't a turn-off for you or if you are willing to get used to it ( i did within a few hours tops ) then you will be 100% satisfied with this keyboard. Amazing, and I 100% agree with the reviewer it is awesome. [Sound - 3/5] Honestly, i am not the keenest person when it comes to audio quality so with that being said... I love these speakers. Sound solid, there isn't much bass but at least they are pretty loud without any distortion (fill up my room, which is larger than most I'd think since I work from home and have my "office" in one corner while I have a TV, couch, bed, walk-in closet, bathroom and still enough space to workout comfortably with a bench press on the side of the room). -[Battery Life ?/5] Still needs to be tested, so far I charged it to 100% out of the box and have been using it for the past 6 hours straight, it is currently at 45% and I have completely set up windows, downloaded a few programs like chrome, discord, etc and I also ran crystal disk and played one 32min league of legends game. Brightness is at 60%. Again, any specific tests you'd like just let me know! Okay. So, hit me with those questions and requests! I will be actively checking this post (at least for the next few weeks) so feel free, I will be guaranteed to reply within a maximum of 24 hours ( honestly might reply within minutes if I'm sitting at my desktop or on the laptop ) I would also like to request Linus review this laptop at some point... I honestly believe that you guys would be blown away and give a 8 or 9 out of 10 recommendation for the lowest... Maybe if this gets enough attention they might consider it, but either way, I love you guys

It would appear that the iPhone XR (launched Q4 2018) has managed to snag the title of the most sold smartphone in Q3 2019, putting it as the best-selling smartphone of fiscal quarter 2019 so far. The iPhone XR tops the short list of popular smartphones this year: iPhone XR Samsung Galaxy A10 Samsung Galaxy A50 Oppo A9 iPhone 11 Oppo A5s Samsung Galaxy A20 Oppo A5 Xiaomi Redmi A7 Huawei P30 Of note is that there are two iPhone models on this list. The successor to the XR, the iPhone 11, managed to snag 5th place. The explanation for the number of A Series of Galaxy devices is that Samsung discontinued their J Series of smartphones and dropped the prices of the A Series. This probably boosted public perception of the overall quality of Samsung Devices seeing as the J Series of smartphones were all of very poor quality. I find it extremely interesting that last years mid-range iPhone is still managing to top the sales charts so long after its successor. the iPhone 11 (which is only $50 more expensive) was released. The still impressive battery life, vibrant color options, vivid and bright LCD display, and impressive single shooter camera have managed to allow the iPhone XR to outperform every other handset to this day. Apple was extremely wise to retain the iPhone XR going into 2019. The massive success of these mid-range smartphones prove opinions echoed by Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech which suggest that the smartphone market does not demand innovation, it demands compromise. The iPhone XR and iPhone 11 are the embodiment of compromise, and they are making Apple a whole lot of money. A 64GB iPhone XR can still be purchased for $599, making it the cheapest phone Apple sells aside from the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus which start at $449 and $549 respectively for 64GB models. Hello everyone! I've been here a while, but only now did I want to ask a question. I have a PC with an i5 2400 and I was wondering if it is worth it to find a 3770K (Most powerful LGA1155 CPU) or a 2600K/2700K (Most powerful Sandy Bridge CPU) so that I can revive my build? I've been planning it for a while but I'm having trouble finding second opinions. Many thanks!

Hi all, I don't know if this has been posted or not, search didn't find anythings but just in case here goes: I just installed PIA version 1.7 and it mentioned that they patched the CVE-2019-14899 security bug. Apparently it's a extremely bad bug; here is their site blog about it: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/blog/2019/12/private-internet-access-updates-linux-desktop-client-to-prevent-against-cve-2019-14899/ Here's a quote from PIA about affected platforms: The official bulletin can be found here: https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2019-14899 They say that in addition to various Linux distros; FreeBSD, OpenBSD, MacOS, iOS, and Android are affected as well so please patch as soon as you can. Stay safe everyone!

Hello all. Canadian here. I'm eye'ing a build for the longest time and it includes adding an ultrawide monitor to an existing 1080p monitor. And, from PCPartPicker, there are two monitors that I see that I like: * Acer Predator X34 34.0" 3440x1440 120 Hz * Asus ROG SWIFT PG348Q 34.0" 3440x1440 100 Hz They fit the theme of my rig very well. However, I'm open to other options. Forget about the money, I'll see about it when time comes. So, what's the best 1440p ultrawide monitor out today in 2019? (all usage) Thanks.

Yo! We've already got a thread started for Floatplane members, but @STERPH, myself and the rest of the team here are beginning to plan out what we want next year's LTX to look like. We've combed through reviews and ran a survey which yielded us a bunch of useful information, but we wanted to post here as well. Let us know if you guys have any suggestions for what you'd like to see at next years event. This can be in the form of booth suggestions, activities, partnerships, etc. Appreciate it!

Hello there, i currently have a i5 4670, r9 290x and 16GB 1600 Mhz and i was wanting an upgrade to a GTX 1070, but ive seen in many places that my i5 will bottleneck the GPU, so i was searching and here in Brasil i can find a i7 4790 OEM new for around 351$ while a brand new i5 8600k or ryzen 2700x here costs 405$ and i would still have to up the MOBO and memory(DDR4 is very expensive here), so i was wondering if the i7 4790+gtx 1070 i would be ok for the next 3-4 years of 1080p 60 FPS gaming

A few minutes ago, Nvidia uploaded a video on their YouTube channel, basically announcing that the RTX 2060 will definitely have ray tracing. Assuming that the video of game-play footage was actually done on a 2060 then this is looking somewhat promising. I was one of the people who thought the ray tracing feature downright wouldn't work on a 2060 and i'm also unsure if that game-play footage was really from the 2060. What do you think? Here is the link to the video:

Nvidia has finally taken the wraps off of the RTX 2060. For just $349, they are advertizing that you will be able to play Battlefield V at medium RTX settings at 1440p at 60fps. The card is said to have 5 gigarays/sec and 6Gb of GDDR6 VRAM. They are also boasting about the high availability of the card.

Your WCCFTech news before they get to it! Fresh from the East Asian Tech Twitter comes a link to a Taiwanese forum post. (Translation ) New Information/Confirmation(?): - AMD is launching X570 while not replacing X470, B450 and A320 chipsets. (Speculation: X570 is functionally AM4+ and has PCIe 4.0 lanes operating.) - X570 (And likely Ryzen 3rd Gen) announced at Computex. (This was already sort of known.) - FX Series still refuses to die. - Intel has a new Chipset, C621, which appears to be the Up-To 28 Core platform. Previous roadmap called these the "A-Series" parts. A-series on C-series motherboards? - Cascade Lake-X is Q3 2019. (That's Glacier Falls PCH.) - No Icelake-S in 2019? - B365 is a real chipset. (B360 but on 22nm node.) - GT0 parts are Intel CPUs without an iGPU. This looks like a move to free up supply by not having to waste dies without a working iGPU. My Thoughts: I mostly did this because it's going to hit the rounds anyway, so I might as well scoop the forum post(s) that'll show up in a few hours. Though, it needs to be noted, only the lack of iGPU 9th Gen parts is news with this. All of the rest have been mostly confirmed either officially or with an incredibly large amount of leaks already. X570's launch date is also new, but AMD already said they'd be talking about Ryzen at Computex. Thus, that was mostly already confirmed, along with Zen2 parts having PCIe 4.0 lanes.

I just modeled this house and was ready to put on a roof when I encountered this problem. The house is colonial style (yes it needs shutters) and I wanted there to be an overhanging roof in the front, as well as pillars. It seems as though the roof overhang does not want to work on the left side, it keeps cutting it short. No matter how long I make the overhang or how short I make it, the overhang is still cutting short. I have no idea what the problem is... Can anyone help?

Hi there, I am hoping to buy a not so bulky with a decent (4 hours of non gaming) battery life to watch movies, and maybe do some of my office code development on it (nothing too demanding). Which can play all games at good fps. Wont be streaming or having multiple windows open when running the games. I am really confused between razor 15, msi gs65 and Asus gaming rigs. Also I feel am I overspending with my requirements? Should I wait for the 2019 laptops to come out? Really been confused since its my first big investment from my pay! Budget under 1500 USD. Can stretch to 2000 USD (Only if its really worth it). Thanks for all the recommendations!

Apparently CES 2019 rescinded an award and blocked a company from showcasing the robotic Ose sex toy for women, further calling it vulgar, immoral, etc, yet in past and at the current CES they have allowed male focused sex products to be showcased and have given out awards to in the past (i.e. sex robots and toys for men, VR Porn for men, etc). Link to the original news story: https://venturebeat.com/2019/01/08/lora-dicarlo-says-ces-wrongly-rescinded-award-for-micro-robotic-sex-toy/ Link to one from the BBC (Caution: be a bit gender rhetoric heavy compared to the above link): https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-46809807 Overall, it sounds like some gender-bias to me, for them to allow male focused sex products at CES and have given awards for in the past years and still currently allow even this year in 2019 there's other sex toys and the usual VR porn demos at CES, however block a female focused product, even one whom the CES 2019 judges vetted/reviewed and were going to give an award to based on it's robotic tech, especially since it was made in partnership with Oregon State University's Robotics and Engineering department as this device uses innovative micro-robotic "mimicry" to mimic the feeling of various parts of the human body. This is something I think may be worth a mention on The WAN Show if there's one about news surrounding CES 2019. P.S. For those who think CES blocked this product simply because they want to not have adult products at CES anymore... this year's CES showcases a vibrator for men called Tentuo, company Naughty America is utilizing AR to overlay Stripper Poles into your environment along with "holographic" strippers to occupy those poles, there's an Apple Watch powered vibrator for ladies which a male partner has control over, then there's also the yearly showcased VR Porn booths/experiences, and one of the exhibitors were literally shuttling men off to one of the nearby legal vegas brothels for an Alexa/Amazon Echo powered porn experience. So in otherwords, if it's for males and made by males, it's A-OK at CES. A bit of insight to this year's sex toys at CES 2019: https://phys.org/news/2019-01-sex-toys-vegas-tech.html however there's a lot more begin shown at CES this year than what this article is focusing on.

So we all knew the vega launch with even the frontier edition was not revolutionary, but this looks promising. According to their sources, Vega was incomplete, it was supposed to have AI but due to some technical difficulties it could not be completed. There are many assumptions regarding AMD's successful 7nm chipsets but it was only assumed of cpu, but it looks like there are 7nm navi GPUs also coming next CES. Link: https://www.techquila.co.in/amds-new-7nm-vega-chips-look-promising/ In my opinion, next year is interesting for GPUs because of the downfall of the mining. and if priced right, the absence of of RTX cores will very affordable but also good. Lets wait and watch.

Hello everyone. I’m looking for advice to purchase a budget laptop for my parents this holiday season. Specific model number would be most helpful. My budget is no more than $400 dollars, and it will primarily be used for Office, browsing news and stock tips online, and for viewing pictures sent from their adult kids. No gaming besides card games, so no need for a dedicated GPU. Just looking for the best bang for the buck that will last multiple years. The trackpad doesn’t have to be spectacular, as I assume they’ll be using a mouse. This laptop will live in their home, and seldom be more than 10 feet from a charger. Should I be looking at AMD now? Or does Intel still reign supreme even at the lowest end? Lastly, if anyone has advice between leaving the bloatware on (for the most part) or installing a completely clean version of Windows, I’d appreciate the input. Thanks in advance!
