Is it a good time now to jump into the AM4 platform? Is the R5-1600 okay for "futureproofing" my PC? Ryzen prices in general have gone up recently in my country, about $30 more for each SKU than 2 weeks ago, same with motherboards, and I think DDR4 prices have also been affected by this. I want a moderately good gaming experience, I'd be getting something like a 960 or a 1050 Ti. I also want nice streaming and video editing capabilities, that's why I was thinking about AMD's many-core offerings. Thanks in advance, I'll really appreciate your recommendations.

Hey everyone, as you may be able to tell by the title, I'm having some problems with photoshop CC 2017. Specifically, after having installed the cc 2017 update, it completely refuses to open any of my existing jpg, png, and psd files. It will create new files and let me edit them but it won't let me edit or even open existing ones. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome friends and tag along with me while I tell you this fantastic tale of Razer fucking me over! It all starts after being a broke Razer fan years ago and all of the sudden having enough money to buy a laptop that not only looks cool but performs well in a very compact package. So I bought a Razer Blade late 2017 with a GTX 1060 and a 7700 hq professor. Life was good! It was like driving a super car. Everyone wowed at the keyboard and hundreds of Mac owners asked if their Mac could do that. However a couple weeks ago while I was typing a FUCKING Word document my laptops display went black in a weird way, keyboard changed color and the fans went berserk. I tried to give it a minute and nothing. Then I thought “stupid thing crashed” and held down the power key so it could be rebooted. Surprise, the only that that happened was a faint light coming from the capslock button! I waited for morning to give Razer a call and solve it however when morning came I was told to boot into bios which I could not accomplish as my PC was “dead”. No matter what I tried I just could not get it to work. After a small search on the web I found out that many owners had the exact same thing happen to them and that it all comes back to being a design flaw. Funny thing is I was out of warranty and the Razer tech support guy called Kahlil told me to pay a fee to get the computer to the US and asses the problem... I insisted they cover it sinse it is a design flaw and guess what? Apparently their policies say that EVEN if it is a Razer design flaw they are not responsible after my warranty ended... I gave them hell and no matter what I said I got the same “fuck you” like answer back. People bitch and moan about Mac, but I had a 2013 15 inch MacBook and in 2017 I took it to the shop because of a display issue and they gave me free repairs because of a design flaw. Then after the computer broke again they gave me a new one. So the morale of the story is fuck Apple, but super fuck Razer. Now I have a 3000 dollar brick

Hi folks, I had a 2017 Razer Blade 14" sent in for a warranty repair, no big deal, great customer service as always. What I got back was a brand new laptop (no complaints here) and what I noticed is that the hardware inside is identical to the old machine as expected, but the chassis is entirely different. It's a deeper black, and there is actually somewhat of a metallic finish as opposed to a vanilla matte black. Does anyone know anything of these new chassis' on newer models?

I'm looking for a laptop and plan some light gaming and running VMs from time to time so I looked into the Dell XPS line and they are starting to offer some nice rebate and I was wondering if I should wait for their 2018 line up. I kinda like the 2in1 factor but it's not a deal breaker. Performance wise I'm not sure if it's worth giving up on a significant rebate for the small increase in performance from the 8th gen processor. What's your take on it ?

Hey everyone, I wanna know if the international version of the A5 2017 (SM-A520F) would work in Uruguay, bc I'm interested in buying it from Amazon Spain since a friend is living there and in a few weeks is coming to visit us. Some people say it wouldn't but other say it would, so I want a definitive answer please!

i this morning i tried to play gta5 but during the first loading (the one with the sirens and gunfire sounds) screen it crashes when the star count reaches 4, and as it does so i can't do anything to close it. i tried ALT+F4, CTRL+ALT+DEL, WINDOWS+L, WINDOWS+D, ALT+TAB, but nothing gets it out of the way even though i can still move the mouse pointer on the screen. i tried to launch it on safe mode after resetting it and it works fine. my guess it's that the graphic settings are too heavy, but it doesn't make much sense as it worked just fine a couple days ago and i'm using geforce experince's recommended settings. i7-4790k GTX 970 windforce 16GB ram Windows 10

The laptop dock features: Webcam RGB keyboard 1080p 13.3" screen - Touchscreen mentioned as planned in Linus video Headphone jack 1x USB-C 1x USB-A ports Extra 200GB storage Internal battery to charge the phone and power itself It uses the phone's speakers instead of having its own and Razer has designed a custom Android launcher to make use of tablet mode in applications. Third party USB peripherals are supported. Hopefully we see an actual product out of this. I'd love for it to be able to be used on other phones apart from the Razer phone.

Greetings Linux Tech Tips Community, I'm here to ask for advice on a new PC build. I'm currently on a 10+-year-old Intel Q6600 PC (8800 GTS GPU). I think my Galaxy Note 4 runs faster than this POS! I am set to start school (while working full-time.. and I know how will I juggle all of this I don't know) and want to do a lot of intensive work on a computer such as modeling, graphics, art, A/V work (media management). I was originally going to consider buying a 16+ core setup (looking at a Threadripper or a iMac Pro... equivalent >_>), but decided a budget PC and a laptop (or another computer for my partner) to be more important to me for the moment. So far I've got this worked out: RAM - G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz (PC4 24000) ~ $206.90 on Amazon Mobo - ASUS ROG Strix Z270l Gaming Motherboard ~ $178.57 on Amazon CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 1700 with Wraith Spire LED Cooler ~ $269.99 on Amazon OS - OEM Microsoft Windows 10 Professional Edition ~ $84.99 SSD - Samsung 850 EVO 1TB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD ~ $299.99 Case - Fractal Design Meshify C Mid Tower ~ $69.99 PSU - Undecided GPU - Undecided Things I still need to figure out: PSU, GPU. I'm undecided on GPU as I'm not as huge a gamer as I used to be, but still need something that can game and help do tons work. I heard the GPU market is over-priced at the moment due to mining? That 2018 might offer better budget friendly solutions.. Unsure about monitor/peripherals at this moment. Would like a nice 4K monitor. I still have an old Intuos 3 Wacom tablet and am willing to try to squeeze more life from it before I opt for something better. Any suggestions/changes would be welcome. Thanks in advance and feel free to add any additional input of your own from your own experience. Thanks again!

Hi, I'm building a new PC this black Friday and I just was hoping to get some feedback on my build. My budget is around $1000 CAD (or $800 USD). I'm not looking for anything more than a 1050 ti as I only play games such as Csgo and FTL. Don't know what PSU I should use so I'm open to any recommendations. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/4KNhWX (I already own an SSD so don't bother adding one) Thanks for any feedback!

Hello i am thinking to buy a new laptop but i can't make decision! i'm stuck between Blade Razer 2017 and MacBook pro 15 inch 2016 i have now the MacBook Pro 2012: Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz Storage: 512G Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 and i really use the computer for alot of things!! i'm a graphic designer and i use all of adobe softwares and i'm a photographer so i deal a lot with RAW files and also i'm developer (IOS mostly and i'm used to mac terminal) and i'm a college student also, and sometimes i play video games. so this laptop is a PAIN in the ass and i really need a new strong laptop. i'm thinking of getting the blade razer 2017! it's true i'm not a real gamer but i think it's a powerful laptop and can suit me and for my old mac i can upgrade the RAM to 16GB and maybe use it for the designing things? the thing about macbook pro 2016 is that the RAM and the SSD are soldered to the logic board!! which make them un-upgradeable. and that's why i'm taking a step back and rethinking buying it. but i don't know i think it's so strong also and the mac quality is so good and the battery life is good too. Please help.

What does separate the Titan from the Tesla: memory capacity, memory bandwidth, and the lack of NVLink functionality. Uses the standard GeForce driver stack ts Volta architecture underwent a serious revamping of the SM processor design at the core of the GPU, which should provide twice the energy of efficiency Pascal. The Ryzen chipsets can provide decent frame rates for mid range games like League of Legends or Overwatch. Since the higher-end CPU can reach 3.8GHz Marrying this performance with Snapdragon's X16 LTE modems means that laptops could be powerful enough for online gaming over cellular connections. Steam no longer accepts Bitcoin Source 1: posted by VegetableStu https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/870288-steam-no-longer-accepts-bitcoin/ Source 2: https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1464096684955433613 Yes, Steam did in fact accept Bitcoin as payment, but not anymore, due to high fees and volatility in the value of Bitcoin. When Steam first added Bitcoin as a method of payment, transaction fees were roughly $0.20. Now they’ve creeped as high as $20 per transaction. These fees are passed on to the consumer and result in unreasonably high costs for games The value of Bitcoin is only guaranteed for a certain period of time so if the transaction doesn’t complete within that window of time, then the amount of Bitcoin needed to cover the transaction can change. The normal solution is to either refund the original payment to the user, or ask the user to transfer additional funds to cover the remaining balance. In both these cases, the user is hit with the transaction fee again! Steam may re-evaluate accepting BTC at a later date. Google pulls YouTube from Amazon devices (again) Source 1: posted by davrosG6 https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/869948-google-is-pulling-youtube-from-amazon-devices-again/ Source 2: https://techcrunch.com/2017/12/05/google-is-pulling-youtube-from-echo-show-and-fire-tv-as-feud-with-amazon-continues/ Earlier this fall, Google pulled the YouTube app from Amazon’s Echo Show devices due to dissatisfaction with the implementation The app was missing subscriptions, related videos, commenting, sharing, and more But a few weeks ago, YouTube returned to Echo devices- but apparently without Google’s consent! Amazon had apparently built a work-around by implementing the web version of YouTube. This version was also built without Google’s input Google learned about it from the press, like everyone else The new version overlays voice controls on top of the experience, which Google claims is a violation of its Terms of Service Now, Youtube has been pulled from the Echo Show, and FireTV users have been warned that the app will disappear on January 1st. Is the removal temporary? “We’ve been trying to reach agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other’s products and services...But Amazon doesn’t carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn’t make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of Nest’s latest products. Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and FireTV. The series spanned across the SNES, PlayStation, and PlayStation 2 before finally ending with Mega Man X8 in 2004. Mega Man Legacy Collections 1 and 2, which together include Mega Man 1 through 10, will come to Switch in 2018. Capcom also announced Mega Man 11 for current-gen platforms. Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, PUNCH-OUT!! All of these games have been remastered in 1080p for the release. Super Mario Galaxy is planned for release, though we don’t know when. The drone will hover over your head playing the loud music until you leave. T-Frend can take a pre-programmed flight across the office autonomously, using its sensors to navigate around walls and other obstacles. T-Rend also functions as a security drone, filming surveillance footage and storing the data on an SD card. The drone’s developers are also considering outfitting it with facial recognition technology to help spot burglars and other intruders after-hours. T-Frend is expected to be launched in April, with a target price of around $4,400 a month.
