So my friend asked me for help with her pc as she was having issues with lag and fps drops in WOW, the lag was a bad internet connection and this i helped fix but her fps drops got worse so literally she will have 80 fps and then it will drop to 2.....go to 40 then back to 80 and then be stable a bit and go back to 2 and so on..... i switched the gtx 970 out with a spare i had and it got more fps as it is a better 970 so like 6 more fps but still the drops, her cpu useage is only about 50% and her ram is good as well as the GPU so i wonder what the issue is that is causing this? could it be a bad cpu causing fps drops? maybe a bad ssd as it is a cheaper one? ideas?

I'm looking for a motherboard to support my i7-2600 as my current one does not support a recent enough BIOS for modern graphics cards. It seems almost impossible to find any 1155 motherboards that are not either very expensive or very cheap such that they will not last long.

I was wondering out of this 1155 motherboard what would be best one on here. Since almost impossible to get 1155 boards in AUS besides 1 with 2 ramslots and Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Or what chipset is the best to look at for my 3770 I heard Z68 or Z77 with 4 ram slots maybe raid or at least sata 6 gbits with usb 3.0 Specs Intel i7-3770 Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1070 G1 8Gbit Corsair 240GB SSD Kingston 120GB SSD 2TB Seagate 7200rpm 650Wat Gold PSU CD-DVD Dual Layer Burner 16GB DDr3 Kingston Low Profile 1600mhz Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 120mm Dual Corsair Full Size Case So what chipset or board would be good to get even second hand from ebay or alibaba

So.... My girlfriend's computer has one of the aforementioned motherboards, an i5 3570k, and xfx 850w gold power supply. I bought it off of ebay a year ago, had no issues at all with it until recently. I even showed it lots of love, put it in a phantom full tower kitted out with noctua fans, recently delidded the CPU (a couple weeks before this incident), and I keep her computer super clean thanks to this "compu-clean" device I have that's like canned air on all sorts of steroids. I come home from work a few days ago and she says "I have really bad news, my computer crashed today and keeps restarting when I try to turn on". By the way, it crashed while she was browsing the internet.... not gaming or anything like its used for almost 24/7. It was getting error code 55, which points to ram, so I tested every possible configuration, even with different brands of ram I had lying around, and no matter what I did, slots a1 and a2 will not work, so no more dual channel mode My question is basically, how the hell can this happen? I mean I get pretty much anything is possible when it comes to electronics breaking, but I've built at least 20 different pcs for friends/family and a few strangers, and I have only seen 1 part fail, POWER SUPPLY, and that was ONE time. (While I'm thinking about it I even tried putting an 850w EVGA platinum power supply and it still had the same RAM problem) I'm a big believer in low temps and airflow for longevity, and this particular CPU never got above 55c after delid under load (and that was the hottest core, really never went above 50c). And its also the same ram that's been in the PC since day 1 (g.skill). Forgive my fragmented thoughts, and I get that this is more of me venting then a question, but if anyone could share any knowledge related to ram slots crapping out I would appreciate it, and if anyone has any suggestions to try and fix that would be really awesome, although I've tried everything from removing cmos battery, updating bios, booting with/without sata drives, with/wo vga card, etc. This will definitely be my first and last time with ASROCK, I already didn't like the bios, HATED the fan control (was like something from 2000....), and now this.... Link to mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157295 Update: I'm sure at least someone will ask for this: Voltage (under load) 1.35v clock speed (under load) 4.6ghz Bus speed: 100mhz (stock) Yes, I tried with nothing plugged into USB.

Hi guys I found a Cooler Master Eisberg Prestige 120L in a secondhand store today for cheap (25€),but it doesn't fit on AM4 which is what I have so my friend wants to buy it for his skylake system. The box says it supports 1155 and 1150,but not 1151 because it's a bit old. My question is, do 1150 and 1155 coolers fit on 1151 sockets? (z170) Thanks for your help

Hey guys i already posted at the gpu section but might as well write the whole build. So i'm from Georgia (the country) (not the state) it's under Russia, above turkey, next to the black seas... yeah... yeah... that's the one. so currently i've got ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5KPL-AM (Socket 775) motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz Wolfdale 45nm Technology 4.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 800mhz Evga gtx 460 v2 1gb gddr5 192bit Vcard (it's pretty good, it's as powerful as gtx650 1gb if not better) 298GB SAMSUNG HD322HJ ATA Device (SATA ) 500w EVGA PSU 768p monitor 60hz it's pretty sh*t i know, so that's why i decided to upgrade from socket 775 to any other one (thinking of 1155) my budget is probbobly around 500lari(ლარი) that's about 185USD (for the record i'm not thinking of building completly new pc just "upgrading" (meaning i'm sticking with 500wpsu,298gb HDD and might stick with gtx460 dunno). so here's what i'm planing: 1155 socket Mboard it's price range varies between 80lari(ლარი) $30 to 120lari(ლარი) $45 i3 or i5 (i found i3 - 3240 for 70lari(ლარი) $26 and i5 - 2500k for 110lari(ლარი) $41) so as i said i might stick with gtx460, but someone told me,on the gpu section, where i asked which was better gtx660 2gb or gtx750ti which are about 150lari(ლარი) $55 (i was thinking of buying one for a time) , to opt for either gtx950 170-180lari(ლარი) $63-67 or gtx960 180-200lari(ლარი) $67-75, so what's your opinion about that ? 8gb ddr3 ram (which i couldn't found for bargain it's mostly round 100lari(ლარი) $37) i'm sticking with my 500w psu and with mt 768p monitor, i just don't need a fullHD one or something like that, i'm pretty happy with what i've got ^^ so the price range is between 400lari(ლარი) $150 to 520lari(ლარი) $193 so you might think $43 difference isn't much but for me 120ლარი is pretty big number (more like medium size but still :d) i'll be using it for gaming though i'm just a player ;_; (i don't play too much games, but) i'll be playing more open world games such as Assassin's Creed series and GTA V of course, i'm crazy about AC though, i might play some shooter too like Battelfied 1 really intrigues me newer one i don't really like that much. TBH i'm alright playing a game with 30fps at768p medium-high settings, but if i'll be able to play a game with more fps at high-very high setting high you wont find any man happier than me. thank you, good bye, have a good one... P.S for those who think this isn't that much capable system i can play Gta v with 768p mostly low just reflections, water at high and also anisotropic filtering x16 oh and fxaaon msaax2 (the reason being the gpu it really is an old beast i could find it for cheap for 100lari $37,before that i had gt610 1gb (it couldn't paly sh*t) and this old 460 was a fresh air for me only thing was that cpu was bottelnecking it was mostly at 99% usage and gpu was at 20-35% that's why i put a few setting up gpu suage got from that to 65%, i was playing it visync-on at 30fps most of the times, though it dipped to lower 20s to high 10s (dual channel cpu was the problem i guess) that's why at first i wanted to get a good 775 cpu like quad q9650 or something but i though it wouldn't be more capable of upgrading and might as well buy a newer socket Mboard (Assassin's creed Origins and Odissey were probably the reason as well it not being reales on socket775). i aslo could play Assassin's creed IV Black Flag at 768p medium with round 30fps. i don't know why i wrote all these but it may help you some day, just a return for your suggestions or help, more info, so yeah that's it, goodbye for now... P.S.S i 'd like to go for more intel and nvidea product i know the amd and all of thole other companies product are good as well, but i jsut don't get it, i'd prefer intel cpus and nvidea gpus

I decided to switch out my motherboard for an Asus p8z77-v, while changing no other parts (I'll list them at the end). The lights on the mobo turn on, fan spins, everything seems fine but the monitor is just black, giving me a message about power management. I've checked if the power cables are plugged all the way in, swapped out the ram to different slots, left only one stick in, etc. Still nothing. I've tried with the HDMI from the motherboard, then with the one from my GPU and tried VGA from the motherboard again. Nothing. GPU fan spins, too. The whole system worked just fine with the other motherboard, but I wanted to change it for a few reasons, that's another story. i5 2500k, 2x4gb of generic ram, GTX 960, a WiFi card, 120gb ssd and 1tb hard drive, 550w evga PSU.

An ASRock z77 Pro3 vs an ASRock z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Is one better than the other? Are they both bad choices? The price for them is the same. I want one of them to overclock an i5 2500k (because I didn't do enough research and right now I have a gigabyte z77m that won't let me change CPU voltage)

Hey guys! So i just built a friend a 1155 system (yes i know it's old but don't worry it's only for online classes) And i have this problem with ram, i have two generic 16gb 1600 ddr3 sticks and for some reason the motherboard does not boot with these specific sticks. The thing is i tried both sticks at a different motherboard and system and they get detected perfectly I also tried different ram sticks (the one from the system I mentioned earler) and it posted fine. The DRAM light was on when the sticks are on the motherboard. Yes I tried each stick in each ram slot and even dual channel but still get the red LED. Do you guys have any solutions or ideas?

Can anyone suggest me a budget board that supports Intel I5 or I7 3rd gen processors which must have 4 ram slots so that I can utilize all 32GB of ram compatibility mentions by Intel. And with 6Gbps port + USB 3.0 will is also preferable. Im in India and I do find some but sellers are not ready to ship here. If you think I'm stupid please ignore ?

Hello! I currently own i5 3570, but i want to upgrade it to something overclockable like i5 3570k or i7 2600k. I would trade someone my current CPU ( and add like 20$ ) and get the i7 2600k, but i read that it doesn't support PCle 3 ( supports 2.1 and below ) and it can't run DX11. Please tell me which one to buy. P.S i might buy a deliding kit so i would like to overclock them to 4.5 ghz at max.

Right now i still have a lga 1155 motherboard with an i7-2600k. I was wondering if getting a lga 1151 with an i7-7700k would give me a huge difference or should i stay with my 1155. I was thinking buying 16gb ddr4 2600mhz in that process ( i have 8gb ddr3 1600mhz ) What do you think? Worth the +700$ upgrade ?

I have a £120 budget for a short term CPU upgrade. I can buy a Z68 mobo to overclock for £30 if someone finds a unlocked CPU for £90. I was originally going to get a 3570k for £85 and a Z68 for £30 to overclock. What's the best CPU I can currently buy, used or new i dont care, that's 1155. I already have a 1155 H61M mobo. My rig is: i3 3220 GTX660 6GB RAM CX430

Hello! Was wondering if it is possible to buy Motherboard armour, and use it on the ASUS P8Z77-V LX Like from them Sabertooth series, or Gryphon armour or what ever it is called? Or are those only for those kind of motherboards? Just to cover out the older looking stuff on my current board.

I've been having this issue for a while now and have tried my friends and other forum posts looking for help with this. This is a budget build so new parts aren't an a good option. My graphics card stopped being detected in my PC after a game crash in DS3, I tried updating all of the software on my PC including the bios for the z68 with no success. This put me into the UEFI bios 2.10 when I was on 1.70 when the problem started. I also tried 2.20 and 2.30 with no results. My graphics card works in my friends computers (I have tried 3 so far) but not in my own. Using both UEFI and non-UEFI bios on their systems. Other graphics cards I have tried work in all slots on both motherboards I now have. (2x STRIX GTX 970 4GB, older low/mid tier AMD PCI-E and PCI cards) The slot the GPU is plugged into shows 0x in the bios when plugged into the Asus board and offers no display on either board even when PCI-E is selected as the priority. CSM is on in the Asus Boot Bios but doesn't help. GPU: PNY GTX 570 XLR8 Enthusiast Edition 1280MB CPU: i5-2500k Motherboard 1: Asrock Z68 Pro3-M Motherboard 2: Asus P8Z77 LK TEST GPU1: ATI RADEON X850 PRO TEST GPU2/3: ASUS STRIX GTX 970 TEST GPU4: ATI RADEON 9250 OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit PSU: Antec Earthwatts 500 TRIED: Linux boot usb, different PCIe slots, downgrading BIOS, and a completely separate motherboard. I have also tried CSM and forcing PCIE as the video option.

I have 24gb of DDr3 installed and my CPU is overclocked to 4.4GHz but when i go to system info i shows 12gb of ram and a max clock of 5.9GHZ. but when i look in the bios or a program like CPUZ it shows the correct info. has anyone had this problem? should i be worried about anything regarding this? i just noticed this issue the other day, and it has not caused any real problems but its still kind weird. I have the latest bios update and have even done a recovery on windows trying to fix this.
