  1. Hello, We just got the option to upgrade our home network to 10 Gigabit internet, so we did since it was inexpensive in my country. So my mission now is to upgrade our network peripherals to support the new high speeds. I live in a two story house and our current network setup is like this: We have the main router, which is connected to the outside fiber via some converter box that was installed by the ISP, then from the main router we have connected a fiber optic cable that goes between floors into another router. The fiber is connected to both routers via some sort of media converter (I don't really know what it is, my tech savy relative reccomended it to us). The router acts as a extender yet a second wifi to our main one and we also have a switch connected to the router. Currently only the main router and eveything the ISP installed supports 10G but everything else only supports 1G. So I need some recomendations on good network perrhiperals. 10 gig Switch 10 gig media converter (I think that's whats it called) and preferabl a 10g wifi extender rather than a 10g router since I kinda just want to have one wifi connection instead of two Thank you all in advance
  2. So my NIC is TP-Link TX401 and in it's driver settings I can update Jumbo Packets (currently disabled), I was recommended to set this value to 9000, but the only option close to that number is 9014. And on my Synology nas I can only set this value to 9000 which I did. After that Synology NAS did restart network and I was not able to reach it from my workstation at all. Once I turned off Jumbo Packet on my PC I was able to see it again. I was recommended to turn on Jumbo Packet and set it to 9000 on both devices to get higher speed between both of them. I am currently getting 500mb/s when downloading from NAS and only between 150-320MB/s when copying stuff to NAS. NAS DS932+ with SSD 2.5 SATA drive and Synology's own 10G NiC card. Anyone got any adivce with Jumbo Packets and why on Win11 I am offered 9014? And Synologt NAS does not accept 9014 if I enter it by hand.
  3. Hello, I have 10g connection 8.5/1, with wifi 6 access points, I can't get higher speed with my phone, do I need wifi 6e or 7 for higher? I know that s23 ultra supports 6e but idk about 7.
  4. Hello all. I recently bought this ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BFPWSMV2?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 )10g NIC and am having trouble getting it to output 10g link speed. I have it slotted into the 2nd PCIe slot(PCIEX4) on my MOBO . PCIEX16 Bifurcation is set to AUTO Mobo bios version is F37a Installed network driver is the Marvell AQtion 10Gbit Network Adapter Speed & Duplex If I set it to 10g Full I get this If I set it to 5g or 2.5g it works fine. When set to Auto Negotiation I get I've never used a separate network card so I really have no experience above onboard 1g NICs. Is there something I'm missing?
  5. Hi guys, I plan on using a 10Gtek BCM57810S card, using the Broadcom 57810S chip, for a nice networking upgrade. But my question is, if Proxmox 7.2-3 has the fitting drivers for the card... I also plan on connecting it to a TP-Link SG3400 JetStream, if that matters. Thank you for reading, I hope you can help me!
  6. What’s up guys, Im Running a small Company and I would like to upgrade the network infrastructure in the building. My plan is to get 1 main switch (Dell N1524P) and connect 2-3 (Zyxel XGS10-10-12) to it via fiber cable (UPC LC Duplex OM3 Multimode) driven by some Cisco SFP-10G-SR transceivers. On some workstations and the Server I would like to install the 10g Mellanox ConnectX3 MCX311A-XCAT 1 Port NIC Am I missing something out or can I place the order. Additionally I would like to upgrade our Wi-Fi with some new Wi-Fi 6 Poe Access Points. But I haven’t decided yet because of the hefty price. Hope someone can help me because fiber networking isn’t really my bread and butter.
  7. Hey pros, I’m hoping to gain some knowledge from you that have experience managing large amounts of data (we have 200TB+) across multiple NAS devices (we have 3) and types of cloud backup (we’re using wasabi). Our content creators edit straight off the NAS via 10Gb Ethernet with PC and Mac and the capable machines see 1GBps+ Read and Write. I’m wanting to learn more as I develop a tiered “hot”, “warm” and “cold” storage model/strategy that is scalable and can be roadmapped. Does anyone have experience in this or know of a resource? Thanks in advance!
  8. Who makes the best 10GbE NIC for windows 10? I’ve seen good things about these: >ASUS XG-C100C >TP-Link TX401 >10GTek X540-10G-2T-X8 >Intel X540-T2 >ipolex X540-10G-2T Which have you guys had luck with? I want the best out of box experience.
  9. I am looking at wiring my new house for ethernet (walls are open). For regular ethernet jacks around the house this is my plan: Punch-down Keystone Wall Plate > Cat6E Cable > Patch Panel with Pass-through Couplers (not punch down style) > Patch Cat6 cable > Switch For WiFi Access Points this is my plan: AP > Cat6E Cable > Patch Panel with Pass-through Couplers (not punch down style) > Patch Cat6 cable > PoE Injector > Patch Cat6 cable > Switch I am not sure if this is too complicated or if it will work fine My main reason for this forum post is does anyone know if the PoE injectors will work with those FS.com couplers in the blank patch panel? They are circuit board instead of individually wired internally. I contacted their support but they told me no twice and yes once for PoE support from three different representatives. The other reason is does anyone know if my current setup will be able to handle 10GbE in the future (other than the switch)? I can run Cat6a instead of the Cat6E if thats better for the future. The parts are as follows: >RJ45 Modular Ends: Cable Matters 100 Pack Pass Through RJ45 Modular Plugs for Solid or Stranded UTP Cable >Punch-down Keystone Jacks: Cable Matters UL Listed 25-Pack Slim Profile 90 Degree Cat 6, Cat6 RJ45 Keystone Jack with Keystone Punch Down Stand in White >Cat6E Cable: CAT6E Riser (CMR), 1000ft, UTP 24AWG, Solid Bare Copper, 600MHz, UL Certified, Easy to Pull (Reelex II) Box, Bulk Ethernet Cable in White >Router: Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro >Switch: Ubiquiti Switch Pro 24 >Patch Panel: Cable Matters Rackmount or Wall Mount 24 Port Keystone Patch Panel (Blank Patch Panel for Keystone Jacks/Keystone Panel) >Couplers for Blank Patch Panel: Cat6 Keystone RJ45 Coupler, Unshielded, Female to Female Insert Inline Coupler >Patch Cables: 12ft (3.7m) Cat6 Snagless Unshielded (UTP) PVC CM Ethernet Network Patch Cable >Access Points: Ubiquiti UniFi Access Point WiFi 6 Long-Range & Ubiquiti UniFi Access Point WiFi 6 Lite >Wall Plates: Two Ports Keystone Single Gang Wall Plate
  10. It's finally time to upgrade. I'm coming from and i5-3570k system with a GTX 1060. Amd's 5600x has tickled my fancy so I'm finally upgrading. The 1060 is the only thing I'm keeping from my old build. I would love to build an ITX system this time that will last 8-10 years again. So I'm looking at the following: AMD 5600x ROG Strix X570-I Gaming ITX mobo 16-32 Gigs of ram current 1060 (upgrade to RX 6800 down the road) 1TB WD SN750 nvme drive So my dilemma is I have a NAS and 10g card I'd like to connect to this PC using a Mellanox MCX311A-XCAT CX311A ConnectX-3 EN sfp+ Network Card. It's pcie 4x I'm thinking I can use the Mobo's back m.2-2 connector. Using an m.2 to pcie riser cable and plug in my sfp+ card. Like This one. Has anyone done this? I'm thinking it should work... The only limitation I've read is the m.2's limited power but that seems to be 7W usually and the Mellanox card is listed as less than 5W it's a single port. I've never used M.2 for anything and I'm unfamiliar with it. I thought it was just for storage but I see now it's more just another way to connect pcie. Thoughts? Thank You Country: Canada Used for: Games, DaVinci Resolve
  11. Have two SFP+ modules (20KM transceivers) and A 5m duplex LC LC single mode cable. So I was wondering if I connect the modules together will I burn out the diodes on each end (the RX part) LRXP8510-X3ATL
  12. Looking to upgrade my currentUNraid box to something that can easily support more HDDs and SSDs, 10G networking, multiple GPUs and IPMI. Currently I use mine for Plex and a single VM. I am looking to expand to running security cameras out of it and maybe a TV tuner for Plex. Current System: AMD FX-6300 @ 4.0 GHz ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0 24GB DDR3 @ 1333MHz Nvidia Quadro 2000 (Unraid display GPU) Nvidia Quadro K4000 1 x 240 GB Sata SSD (Unraid cache drive) 3 x 8TB WD Red (2 parity, 1 data) 1 x 4TB WD Red (data) 1 x 4TB WD Blue (data) 2 x Seagate Barracuda (data) Lian Li PC-A77F My biggest issue is that I am out of SATA ports (6 on mobo and 2 on pcie-to-sata card). I could buy a larger pcie-to-sata card, but I only have the one pcie x1 slot so I would be replacing the existing one. Luckily I am in no need for more storage and shouldn't be for a while so this isn't a pressing issue. However, I would like to have to ability to add 3 more cache drives for a btrfs raid 10 and a WD purple drive or two for the security cameras. The single socket configuration is about $700. I don't want to go much higher than that, but can if I can get a good value. Here is what I am thinking for the new build. I would appreciate any feedback as I am new to this class of parts. Potential New System: Xeon E5-2680 V3 12 core (Possibly 2 for a dual socket motherboard) Supermicro X10SRL-F/SuperMicro X10DRi (NEEDS to be standard EATX/ATX) 32 GB DDR4 2133 RDIMM Noctua NH-D9L LSI 9211-8i (SAS card for HDD array, SSDs will be attached to SATA 3 on motherboard) Intel X540-T2 Keeping the same case. Let me know if I am missing anything or can improve on the build. Thank you!
  13. Hey Everyone, first of, hope you're having a wonderful day! I'm looking to try and set up a fiber backbone that will realistically be able to do 10Gb today and if possible move to 40Gbe+ later on down the line. current infrastructure is 2 servers, one for vm's /plex provider(unraid), the other acting as both high speed nas and longterm HDD storage (timemachine backups and the like)(freenas). on the network we typically see 15 devices at the low point with a maximum of around 40. everything from phones to laptops to proper workstations, networked receivers etc. Everything is currently running 1gbe rj45, except for workstations which are a combination of 2 or 4 1gbe links bonded few things: reason for fiber backbone is that the total length of the space is 100' by 50' 2 floors, not to mention that we'd be able to upgraded the receivers down the line if/when the need or opportunity arrises for a network upgrade. my current thinking for the network is to deploy Mikrotik switches because of their support for 4*10Gb SFP+ on inexpensive switches (crs305 and crs309). For router was thinking going for the RB 4011 since it has fiber and ethernet, and if I go Mikrotik for the AP's the 4011 is afforded with a 4*4 MU-MIMO on 5GHz and 3*3 on the 2.4 band. Thoughts? Proposed set up is as such, from top down view https://imgur.com/a/O5l8bKV For AP's I'm fairly open. Was thinking either Unify or mikrotik,
  14. One of our 10 gig network switches is kinda loud, so the obvious solution is to water cool it. 15. I've been putting this off for a while, but my old NAS at home is quite old and I feel like I need something newer. I have so far picked out some parts, but I'm not sure that they are going to be the most appropriate, so I need some recommendations. (Mostly gonna use for storing files but also want it for general purpose) Also, if I have to, I'll spend some money, but trying to keep it on a budget (relatively). Here is what I've been thinking about: RAID (either 5 or 6) (open to suggestions) with either 4 or 6 drives. Set up an SSD cache to make up for the slow write speeds. Separate drive for boot and server software Most likely gonna use Ubuntu Server since it is what I've been using for the past 3 years. Eventually set-up 10 Gbps with SFP+ fiber adapters. Parts that I've considered: HDD's: Seagate IronWolf SSD: Samsung 970 evo Raid Card: No idea (Is it better to get a mother board with a lot of SATA ports or a RAID card?) Network Card: Not too sure either Computer: (I was thinking about a Ryzen build mostly because of all those PCI-e lanes, and that ECC support)(maybe first gen Threadripper since they've gone down in price) Network Switch: MikroTik CRS305-1G-4S+IN On the software side: I'm a newbie to RAID, so I need some reading material (forum posts, articles, videos, etc) before attempting it myself. I also need some info on setting different drives for different partitions. Current Setup: Old Dell Optiplex 390, Intel Core i5-2400, 4GB RAM, 4TB HDD (No RAID), 4x Gbps NIC Netgear JGS524 24-port Gigabit Network Switch
  16. I want to set up 10g networking between my main desktop PC and my local file server. I've been told that 10g networking gear can be had very cheaply on eBay. I have done some searching on ebay and found some 10g nics that are pretty cheap. The issue is that I have no way of knowing that specific model of nic is any good. I'm looking for any recommendations on which eBay 10g nics are the best. Thanks
  17. This summer, I started moving as much data as possible from a 2-bay NAS to an unRaid server built from a repurposed MSI X99S Gaming 7 running an i7-5930K, two cache drives, two parity drives and five data drives. Once I did that, I started planning a backup of that system, that right now is running on an ECS H55H-I motherboard and seven 3.5" drives. My plan is to continue to use WD SmartWare to make incremental backups to my little NAS and use it for nothing else. Nightly, that data will get synchronized to my primary unRaid server and I'll work out some kind of schedule to sync data to the other, figuring out how to do integrity checks and so on so that if file corruption takes place, I have some sort of window to copy it back over from a known good copy. A third level of storage will be made to an array of SSD drives and kept in a safe deposit box. Cloud storage, when I would want at least 5TB, is kind of expensive and I don't really trust the privacy of it all. After I started moving terabytes of data from my old NAS into unRaid, I decided to pick up a few Mellanox 10g fiber cards to make transfers between systems just a little faster. On all of my desktop PCs, and anywhere it's financially practical, I've done away with rotational drives and run entirely from SSDs, one PCIe and one SATA NVMe drive in my main desktop. I'm not bound by drive speed so much, but I am bound by limitations of the interface and to some degree, limitations of Windows 10. My desktop PC has three network interfaces in use. One connecting to a segregated array of Raspberry Pi (behind pfSense), one connected peer-to-peer to my unRaid server and one connected to my router to communicate with everything else. I want to streamline things and am planning to build a new pfSense router using a motherboard/cpu combination that's robust enough to operate three 2-port Mellanox cards, each running on 8 PCIe lanes. The most likely prospects at this point are an i7-5820K running on an ASRock X99 Professional X99, 2011-3. For that setup, I'm looking to use all 28 PCIe lanes (8 x 3 (fiber) + 4 (NVMe)), using one of the onboard interfaces for WAN and the other with a 24-port D-Link switch. My questions are two. Have any of you run pfSense using fiber before, and if so, can it be made to do so stable? Second, if all I'm using it for is pfSense, what power supply rating would you expect to be adequate for this kind of build? I don't know the power requirements of the Mellanox cards. I'll set it up for 10g initially but will likely move to 40g within a year. If possible, I'd like to drive the thing using a Corsair SF600 or an SF450. This will be a wall mounted server and the only wires should be power and network.
  18. Hi together, I am a new joiner (and this because I believe in the high competency of linus´ forum and its users). So let me straight get to my problem: I struggle achieving 10 GBit/s internet speed even though all conditions are given to do so. But from the beginning. I live in Zurich, Switzerland where a new internet provider offers 10 GBit/s. I booked the package and upgraded my entire rig (amongst other) in order to process the internet speed. I bought an ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 Professional Gaming i7 motherboard, which is one of the only motherboards that include a pre-build in 10 GBit/s Ethernet port (Aquantia AQC107). It also has two LAN RJ-45 ports (Intel® I211AT and Intel® I219V). My interface supports 10 GBit/s at all ends (10 GBit/s port, Cat. 7 LAN cable, router with dedicated 10 GBit/s port, no switches in between, 10 GBit/s internet provider). When I first started the PC, after installing Windows 10 Pro and installing all necessary driver for the Aquantia AQC107, I had the weird issue that every time I connected a LAN cable (regardless of the port) I simply got a LAN symbol (so in the bottom right corner it appeared the LAN symbol) but was still in the Wifi in which I was before. You could easily tell by a) the name of the SSID and b) that if you disabled the wifi drivers or detached the wifi antenna the internet connection went to zero. Despite driver updates for Aquantia, BIOS updates and attempting a static IPv4 nothing changed. After two days of doing nothing, the LAN (without my influence) is now properly recognized on all three ports. So that problem seems to be gone. Also, the SSID is apparently just the same as the SSID of the 5Ghz Wifi. Now, however, I come to the actual problem: the Internet connection has a bottle-neck somewhere, which is why I "only" get 1 GBit/s (see screenshot 1). Yesterday I managed to receive 2 GBit/s for a short time (see screenshot 2). At that time, my transfer rate had jumped to 2,5 GBit/s (for whatever reason). I've already tried to set the link speed in Advanced Properties of the Aquantia AQC107 from "Auto Negotiation" to "5G" (the highest I can set in Windows 10 Pro). Nothing changed. On the homepage of the manufacturer of the Aquantia AQC107 I read that Cat. 6a LAN cables can be used. Does it make a difference if I use a Cat. 6a or 7? I thought that apart from shielding and frequency there are no differences, especially not in regards to compatibility issues - but maybe I am wrong? I do not quite understand how it sporadically jumped to 2,5 GBit/s yesterday and giving me a hard time today. At worst, I'll try to install Windows again, as I'm still not sure if the drivers are all right. But maybe someone has any experience or ideas with my problem. Thank you! P.S. I know it is an absolute luxury problem. Currently, it's more about the achieving than really having a purpose for 10 GBit/s.
  19. Hi guys, I have a 10gbps switch (Netgear GS110EMX) connected to a N40L running OpenMediaVault via three 1gbps ports (bonded setup in OMV 802.3ad with LACP running on the switch with LAG all setup correctly). I have a PC with an ASUS XG-C100C (10gbps) NIC connected into one of the 10G ports (on the switch) via a CAT7 cable. With this setup my transfer speed between the PC and the N40L is 1gbps. How is it not 3gbps and is it possible to get there?
  20. As recently announced the IEEE finally finalized the 2.5G and 5G spec for ethernet and thusly the first complete products have come out http://www.netgear.com/business/products/switches/managed/m4200.aspx?cid=wmt_netgear_organic The Netgear M4200-10MG-Poe-Plus is a 8+2 port switch with all ports capable of 2.5G at least 2 of the eight 5G and the final 2 10G uplink ports Marketed as a 802.11ac wave 2 deployment switch it is capable of supporting the speeds required to fully utilize the wireless standard. Furthermore because of it's current price 1200$+ it is likely too expensive for anything else. What do you guys think as previously mentioned in the IEEE thread: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/667790-ieee-formalizes-25-and-5gbps-ethernet-standard/ This tech would be awesome for home use do to the logical cost benefit over 10G companies like Asus and Asrock have put 10G on motherboards put with exorbitant prices 2.5G seems like a much nicer upgrade path. What I would like to know is which cabling provides with speed at which length as to see how good legacy support is.
  21. So my network is an absolute mess and I'm looking to clean it up. The current setup is an old WNDR3400v2 providing DHCP and a Nighthawk X6 R8000 as an AP. The current network is almost entirely 100Mb, has no more ethernet ports free, and has horrible wiring. I want to rework as much as I can and my current plan is to install DD-WRT onto the Nighthawk to act as a ballin' AP and buy a router/switch to act as the hub/DHCP server. I've searched and cannot find any 1Gb or 10Gb router/switches, of course I've seen many AP-routers but no router-switches. As far as I know I'll probably end up needing enterprise grade gear for this. I really want to set this up as only one box for the hub (or chain it to switches in the future for expansion) however because of not finding any router-switches I may have to get a DHCP router and connect it to a big switch. My worry with this is whether all devices will be able to connect to the switch then go directly to the other device, or if they will all go into the switch then the DHCP router then back to the switch then to another device. TL;DR Do Any Cheap Large 1Gb/10Gb DHCP/Router-Switches Exist? I don't need it to be an AP but if it has the capacity I can just turn it off. I also really want/almost need it to be able to run DD-WRT If I have a DHCP server/router going to a switch, will clients connect 'through' the router or just go 'into' the switch and directly back 'out' And should I just get a DHCP Router-switch combo (one box) or should I get a router then connect that to a big switch? TL;DRv2 Router+Switch vs. RouterWithAlotOfPorts Any cheap many-port-routers what can use DD-WRT (with gigabit)?
  22. Today one of the ISPs in Hong Kong PCCW revealed their annual result of 2014. In this announcement PCCW also revealed their plans for 10G broadband in Hong Kong. In the presentation slides PCCW revealed that they are going to launch 10G PON (Passive Optical Network) service in 2015, and they provided some details on it, as shown below. They didn't reveal pricing, equipment and availability of it. I guess they will be using Huawei's modem for it, as PCCW has been using Huawei's modem for years, and Huawei has been showcasing 10G broadband solution for a long time. And they revealed a 10G broadband test bench in the slides as well, which they got a result of 8680Mbps on speedmeter. But PCCW is not the only ISP in Hong Kong that will deploy 10G. Another ISP in Hong Kong called "Hong Kong BroadBand Network" (HKBN) is now offering 10G broadband service as well. Last month a forum user on a Hong Kong tech forum "HKEPC" called "冷" (literally means cold) revealed on a forum post that HKBN is now offering a 10G broadband service. Although it is not listed on HKBN's website, you can find a tariff from HKBN regarding their 10G broadband service if you googled the term "10g hkbn". There is still no info on the equipment and infrastructures behind HKBN's 10G services, but there are some ridicious points about HKBN's 10G plan in the revealed info. Firstly there are no data cap on the 10G plan, and according to "冷"'s post on HKEPC you don't need to pay the installation fee, and they will conduct a field test on yr location, to ensure that the infrastructures on yr location can run 10G. But ridiculously the monthly fee of the 10G broadband is HKD $50000, which is around $6450. In comparison, HKBN's 1G fiber business plan, with 8 Fixed IP, is around HKD$10000. I don't think many could pay for this high price to get 10G in Hong Kong. Secondly, in the tariff it was stated that the "International Internet access of each subscribed IP address" will be limited to 20Mps. This is the statement in the tariff regarding this limitation. Although I don't think I will get 10G broadband service in the near future, I will hope that pricing of broadband in HK will drop as higher speed broadband is introduced. Still no mention on pricing. http://www.pccw.com/About+PCCW/Media+Center/Press+Releases/Detail?guid=a6bec5a36437b410VgnVCM1000006a8ba8c0____&language=en_US&pop=Y
  23. Hey Guys! Table of contents: July 6th. 2014 - Original post with pictures July 9th. 2014 - Picture updates of pc components, APC Rack & more! Anywho: New to LTT forums, but I've been watching Linus's videos for quite some time now. I've been working in IT for awhile, and just recently I get to implement an IT upgrade for work. Our company does quite a bit of digital media, such as photography, videos, and educational content. Currently we operate on a few synologies as well as some off-site backup routines, but we are growing far quicker than the synologies can handle, and we needed a 10G upgrade anyways. So here we go: ZFS #1 CPU: Intel Xeon E5-1620V2 RAM: 4x16GB ECC 1866 REG HDD: 24x 4TB Hitachi NAS drives in 4x 6 drive Z2 MB: Supermicro X9SRH-7TF Chassis: Supermicro SC846BA-R920B HBA: LSI 9207-8i x2 + onboard LSI 2308 SSD: 2x Intel S3500 120GB for boot + l2arc/ZIL testing OS: Maybe FreeNAS, undecided yet ZFS #2 ( offsite backup server ) CPU: Intel Xeon E5-1620V2 RAM: 4x16GB ECC 1866 REG HDD: 24x 4TB Hitachi NAS drives in 2x 11 drive Z3 MB: Supermicro X9SRH-7TF Chassis: Supermicro SC846BA-R920B HBA: LSI 9207-8i x2 + onboard LSI 2308 SSD: 2x Intel S3500 120GB for VM's OS: Promox w/ ZoL or FreeNAS Networking: master workstations will have X540-T2 NICS Pfsense on a 5018A-MHN4 box which has an Intel Avoton C2758 Juniper EX3300-48T as "core" Netgear XS712T as 10G distribution with 2x 10G SFP+ uplinks to the juniper switch Rack: 2 cyberpower smart app 2150VA UPS units APC AR3100 42U standard rack Lightroom Build: Doing another editing machine build which will most likely end up being the benchmark rig, if not, we will use the 4930K rig below Intel 4790K G.SKILL 1866 C8 2x8GB Intel 730 240GB Asus Maximus VII Hero Nvidia GTX 660 AX760 Corsair 450D Benchmark rig: Intel 4930K @ 4.4 Asus X79-Deluxe 32GB G.Skill 1866 C8 4x8GB 1x Intel X540-T2 1x LSI 9207-4i4e <- This is for initial testing of drives + testing out an HP 6250 LTO-6 tape drive. Pictures to come as parts come in as I've created this thread to allow easier posting from work! Any questions? Picture/benchmark requests? Throw them in the thread! -Update 7.3.2014 - More stuff came in! Phone pics in the meantime: Intel X540-T2 Copper NIC OM3 LC/LC Fiber patch cord. Got them from mono price, and they seem to use corning fiber which is great 4x SFP+ 10G optics from fiberstore 2 Netgear coded optics, and 2 juniper coded optics. Curious to see how they fare. They were $25 each for 10G-SR optics. Juniper optics would be around $700-$1500 depending on where you get it. HUGE difference! If you have a jcare contract, then yes you would want to go with Juniper original optics, otherwise, just buy some spares. 52 Hitachi Deskstar NAS drives were ordered, here you see about 32 drives.
