Hey, Got a K|NG|PIN 1080 Ti the other day. Took off the waterblock and installed the air cooler. Unfortunately one fan is spinning at (what I assume is) 100%. The fan is not detected by Afterburner or Precision X1, and I can therefore not control it. The software believes the fans are spinning at a very low RPM because that is what the fans that are detected (number 1 and 2, closest to the I/0) are spinning at. All temps on the card are below 40C. Help appreciated! Other (relevant) system info: 6700K Maximus 8 Formula (latest BIOs) RM750x Side related question - can i just remove the fan connector as long as I monitor the temps?

Hi! While I was looking to upgrade my GTX 730 I found post on one forum about used Asus Strix GTX 1080 Ti. It’s owner says next: ” Card has a problem. In demending games it crashes sometimes, I fixed that by underclocking memory and core (for 502 and 400MHz, max that MSI Afterburner allows). I am using like that more than 6 months and it acts normal besides that it hasn’t same performances as 1080 Ti anymore. Searching for a problem I opened it, cleaned it and changed thermal paste by better one. Card earlier was reaching near 2GHz but now it goes to 1500Mhz. Second test was -3DMark Time Spy where card got Graphics score of 7946 which is lower of avarge 1080Ti (9400) but slightly higher than classic 1080 (7000). Hello everyone! I've been having a problem with a GTX 1080ti I bought, its second hand. It worked well for about a year but now it seems struggling. I've tried other GPUs in the system and they work. I've tried different PSUs, different PCIe slots, different builds, can't seem to pinpoint it. Originally, it had started to artifact so I replaced the thermal pads and replaced the rather dried up thermal paste. They all make contact where the previous pads were too. So I put it back in the system and it artifacts but only under heavy loads, max temp is around 71c. Decided to crank the fan speed to 100, and it barely artifacts when benchmarking (using Superposition). Where I'm at currently is, the PC preforms mostly OK during the benchmark, stays on about 5ish minutes and then I lose my display and the PC does not boot itself off. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it? Thanks

I recently purchased a 1080ti as a replacement for my 1070 and no matter what I do this card refuses to boost, I've tried uninstalling drivers, trying old drivers, nothing. I even put in my old 1070 just to see if it was a power supply issue or something like that and that card boosts fine. Another thing to note is that on Nvidia inspector the power option is greyed out whereas on the 1070 it isn't. I'm not sure if this is a factor but I have to use two different PCI-E cables for my 1080ti so I have to put 1 6+2 on the first PCI-E slot on my power supply and another 6+2 on the other PCI-E slot on the power supply.

I tell you that I bought a second-hand gpu that seems to be faulty, I have been looking for thousands of solutions in this and other forums, I have seen that many people have run into this problem but none find the solution. The problem is that the core clock remains capped at 139mhz and the memory clock does not exceed 810mhz and the performance in games and beanchmarks are really bad, 12 FPS in Furmark I have already done different tests such as putting high performance mode in Windows and in the Nvidia panel, using DDU, reinstalling drivers, a clean installation of windows, using MSI Afterburner, Asus GPUTweekII, after trying various things I was forced to try flashing a BIOS taken from Techpowerup, but it didn't solve anything. So far the only thing I have found is that in GPU-Z the Power Draw Board is + 400w, PCIe Slot Power + 390w and a Power of 147% DOING NOTHING, simply on the desktop, a Perfcap reason is also added: Pwr, and a solid green line. Hello. I want to buy thermal pads for my GPU, because I GPU temperature is getting near 90 C. I cannot get reliable information on what size of thermal pads I need for this. I can disassemble it and measure them, but don't want to, until I have thermal paste and thermal pads. Does anyone can help me here?

This is a sad time to be having GPU related issues at all but I guess you don't get to choose what happens to you. I think my GTX 1080ti is failing/dying and that's just I think judging from the errors I keep getting. So here is what happens My GTX 1080ti that has been acting weirdly lately, after prolonged use of the card in games I get some weird crashes (Discord crashes and restarts on it's own, Game Crashes, Chrome out of Memory Errors? (when i literly had 1/2 tabs open) and even sometimes the whole Display Driver) I tried re-installing Windows/Drivers/DDU (everything possible) and even was able to run some stress tests like Furmark,OCCT for hours Without any issues but sometimes after prolonged gaming sessions like ~3+hrs some or all the apps that were using the GPU suddenly crash and I can just start them normally without any issues. I checked the clocks,temps and everything was fine, I even tried under-clocking the core/mem in Afterburner to make the card more stable (but it didn't help) here are some screenshots of my issues if anyone can help me with this (I took them right after the crashes happened) Here is what I have tried so far : DDU and installing older drivers. (Same issue) Re-install Games/Windows - try different game. (Same issue). Try from Linux (Ubuntu) (Same issue for chrome error case, didn't test the game yet). Tried using "Nvidia MATS" tool version 367.38.1 to check if something is wrong with my VRAM, tested passed no errors. Tried OCCT/Furmark/MSI Kombustor Stress tests on VRAM/GPU for hour (no crashes). Tried Disassembling the card and manually cleaning everything (Which shouldn't be useful since the card temps never got beyond 74C) Still didn't help. Tried under clocking GPU Core and Memory from Afterburner and even Improving the fan profile a bit (Still didn't help with the crashes but it helped with the temperature abit) Honestly I'm out of ideas and I'd love to try your suggestions if you think there is something wrong. If the prices were fine enough I wouldn't mind buying a new GPU and getting over it already as I had this GPU since 2018 but I guess it's not going to happen anytime soon yet. if you need any more information please leave a reply and I will reply as soon as possible.

So i'm currently planning a new PC build on Pc Part Picker's System Builder, and as I was scrolling TikTok I saw a guy recommending the 1080ti as it's still a good gpu and stupid cheap since it's so old. Decided to check it out and found this on eBay. 2 of these would go for about $281,83, WAY cheaper than the 1660ti I was originally planning on. This just seems too good to be true. I don't know alot about "SLI:ing", so like is there a catch I should know about or is this actually a good idea?

1080Ti running the 466.77 drivers. You can see the starting point on the graph where the core is at 1455mhz, is when the monitor is running at 240hz, and when I change it to 60hz, the core clock drops down to 139mhz. The reason it bugs me is that it causes the fans to spin up and down relentlessly while on the desktop.

Hello everyone, My GPU (1080 TI) stopped working mid game for no reason. The screens went black and the GPU fans stopped spinning. Did a lot of troubleshooting as mentioned below and the result is always no signal output, fans don't spin and rgp don't turn on. I tried the following: Plug and unplug the GPU and the 8+8 power connector Plug it in the secondary PCI-E Tried to put the GPU in a completely different old system, no luck. Tried to a different GPU in my system and it worked (an old ATI HD 5550) The built-in Intel GPU is working The GPU is Gigabyte Aorus 1080 TI. I would really appreciate any help, Is there anything I can do or try to fix it? Especially with the current state of the market getting a replacement of any sort is out of the question

Hey, looking for a used 1080 Ti, and I'm unsure which model to pick. Don't need a Galax HOF type 1080 Ti, but looking for something better than a MSI Armor design. A midrange design in other words. Either a B-rank or a C-rank design from the LTT GPU VRM/Cooling list. I've had good experience with EVGA cards, and I do have a slight EVGA bias. Thinking about a) the ROG Strix one, b) The MSI Gaming X one, or c) the EVGA SC2 one. All around the same price. Which one would you choose? Or does anyone have any other suggestions for card designs that I might want to have a look at? Thanks in advance to all who answer!

Ok so guys i really need help and its kinda beating me and all my friends we just cant figure out what is up with my setup -Ryzen 9 3900x -Aorus master B550 -Aorus 1080ti -Psu Cooler Master V750 semi modular -Balistix sport Ram 2x8gb So we thought my gpu died and so i plug in a 1060 strix And everything boots and works with no problem but when my gpu is in the slot the pc doesnt post nothing like if its dead the only funny thing is the gpu spins the fans at normal speeds and but the white led lights on it dont work (fan stop,aorus letters,) but when i brought my gpu to the repair store they said its all good it ran unigine for hours no problem I tried bios update and i think the gpu has the newest bios aswell i tried connecting to HDMI DVI and Displayport and vareity of other adaptors nothing i tried diferent pcie slot and ram memory order on the board THE ONLY thing i did not try cause i cant is to connect additional 4 pin cpu because i saw somewhere that it also powers additional stuff on the pc alongside the cpu cause it kinda seems the gpu is out of power but on the other side 750W sounds like more than enough Even the people at the repair shop are just confused i checked the compatibility list of each part individualy and everything should be ok because if it ran 1060 why wouldnt it run a 1080ti the only difference between those two is the power draw..... Please help guys id appreciate your ideas

Hi, I bought a 1080ti just over 3 years ago (out of warranty now) and have had a bunch of issues with it but only during games. The pc generally runs certain games without any issues, but certain ones cause the application to freeze whilst I am still able to talk to friends on discord. Rebooting is the only way to get control of my system again. I had a bunch of issues when trying to play Wolcen around Feb 2020 (screenshot attached) and arranged an RMA with the company I bought it from who said they could not replicate the fault during 2 test sessions and sent the card back to me. I was incredibly frustrated with this as I could run the game without crashes on my Intel CPU graphics. I kept using the card as best as I could. Games like dota have given me very little cause for concern so I've just tried to make do. Recently though I have been playing Apex Legends and Warzone which have caused crashes constantly. I've tried all kinds of troubleshooting and the issue does not seem to be rectifiable. I ran Kombustor the other day and it didn't even last 10 seconds. I swapped the card out for a borrowed 1660 and I have had no crashing whatsoever. I'm really hoping there is something I've overlooked and that someone can provide a solution. Or if anyone has any advice on how to get the RMA done then I would greatly appreciate it. I can update with specs if it would help. Thank you

Hey guys, I am having an issue with my set up where having 2 monitors connected to my GPU is causing it to crash to grey or black screens. This tends to happen after the system only being on for a short time. However when I only use my main display the system runs fine. I am able to play games and use the pc as normal with no crashes at all. GPU temps are normal when gaming and the card is at stock clocks so I don't believe it's a temperature issue. I have the latest bios and drivers. I have tried doing a clean driver install using ddu to clear the old ones. Further I have tried a new dvi cable for the second monitor and using the hdmi port on the card instead. However the crashing still persists. The monitor works fine with my poxy work laptop so I don't think the problem lies there. I have looked at loads of forum posts detailing similar issues on older cards but can't find a solution that works for me. I'm at a bit of a loss with it, but I'm probably missing something really obvious. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Hey guys, so today when I turned on my computer, the system turned on, my ram lit up fans turned on etc, but no display, was working earlier that day so confused I press the power button on the case to reset and I seen sparks fly from the case. I quickly unplugged everything, after investigating I found the damage as you can see in the picture. So I guess what my question is, is there anything that can be done for the card and what might have caused this to happen, just a bad card or could there be a problem with my system?. I'm picking up a 3070 tomorrow hopefully and don't want there to be a problem when I try to put it into my system. Also sometimes my screen freezes in AC Odyssey, Origins and Valhalla. Screen is stuck in last frame and nothing works, only forced shutdown... My CPU stay kinda cool (<60°C) with a low usage. - runs around 3800MHz - 4000MHz Should i upgrade my CPU and MB? or GPU? or both? Or any other recommendation? Hi all, I started playing Cyberpunk 2077 last night on my watercooled 1080ti. I realised I didn’t have the latest drivers and clean installed them. I resumed playing, still getting around 90 fps until I started to stutter and then the fps dropped to 10. After some poking around I found that my mem clock speed was stuck at 405 MHz instead of 2000+. I managed to fix the issue (for now) by removing the OC and running stock. My question is, could this have been the new drivers? Or maybe the game causing this, or perhaps just a freak coincidence? Any advice is appreciated.

So long story short I've bought an used 1080 ti aorus xtreme to complete my build but when I installed it and tried it I probably got overheating problems which freeze the PC. I've made a Reddit post where I explained the problem a little bit more and two people told me that it's probably cause of dried out thermal paste which is what I thought. Because I don't really feel comfortable disassembling I went to my local pc store to ask them about it. After I've explained him my issue with the gpu he told me that it's probably not the thermal paste etc. and that changing it would probably not help that much cause the 1080Ti isn't that old to have dried up paste. He told me that the gpu board or the chip are probably faulty. Is that possible when the fans on the gpu are working and the gpu has expected performance? If you need more info about the problem or my setup just let me know and I'll provide them asap. Also I'm sorry for any grammatical errors I'm not native English speaker.

GPU: MSI Gaming X 1080ti (in the second PCIe slot because the top one is dead as far as I can tell) CPU: 6700K @ stock (has been OC'd at 4.7 for a while but I turned it off to troubleshoot) 32GB memory @ 2666MHz Motherboard is an MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon Monitor is 3440x1440 (Acer Predator X34 w GSYNC) PSU is a Corsair CS750M 80+ gold Nvidia drivers are v457.09 Was having some crashes and sporadic severe fps drops before, thought I'd fixed them (I reseated the GPU in its slot, moved the 8pin to 2x8pin to a different port on the PSU, and increased the mounting pressure on the CPU). None of these issues have reappeared but now I'm getting the problem described in the title. Most of my games run at a high fps but the input feels choppy. Total War: Warhammer 2 runs at 20fps in the overview and 6 in battles (approximately 1/3 and 1/8 of the expected performance, respectively). I've seen core clocks drop as low as 139MHz (compared to the normal boost of ~1950) Temps are fine, PSU doesn't even get warm, GPU temps sit at around ~60C on the default stealth fan curve and drop down to ~40 with a custom curve which spins them up earlier and higher. CPU temps are similarly fine. It shouldn't be thermal throttling, and the spikes I'm seeing aren't typical of thermal throttling anyway.\ What the heck is going on?

Okay so recently I found a really good deal on a desktop online that I couldn't pass up. For the curious I paid $650 for an ATX tower, complete with a corsair 750w, gskill 8x2, Pentium g5400, and a GTX 1080Ti founders edition with an evga hybrid liquid cooler. I mostly use this rig for tycoon/sim type games, or less demanding applications like clone hero, hotline miami, etc. However. I do like to stream from time to time, and it seems most people like watch Warzone. I enjoy CoD, but when running it on my setup, I usually only run about 40-50 fps on max(ish) settings. Also, when streaming, I seem to drop frames like crazy. I figured it definitely has to do with my underpowered CPU, and to further confirm my suspicions, the dropped frames issue seems to have been alleviated after enabling hardware encoding on OBS. Anyway. Here's my main question. Would upgrading my CPU help my frame rate dilemma in warzone and other high demand games? Cyberpunk seems to struggle as well. T.I.A. ~sleazyboi

Hey guys I currently have a build that includes a msi b350m gaming pro motherboard which I bought for a budget build a few years ago.trying to save money by not buying a whole new mobo and I just found a sweet deal on 1080ti but I'm just wondering if it'll work OK if I put a ryzen 7 1800x and the 1080ti in it. Kinda worried that if I put those two on that motherboard it'll fry it or something. Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry if this isn't the place to post this - let me know if so.. I have tried damn near everything to solve this - The user.cfg hotfix file, vsync, NVIDIA control panel/experience all settings, all of it. Turned off all overlays (origin, nvidia, xbox) and overclocking apps, viva/fraps, killed processes i.e. I'm all out of ideas. Online/offline made no difference, setting all options to low got me 32 fps and ultra @200 resolution scale gets me 26-30?? I'm livid and at the edge of giving up. Playing on Origin, EA Play subscription, from an SSD. GTX 1080 Ti, Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB RAM

I am experiencing some issues while playing some games. I noticed this first when I tried to play WoW. The game will suddenly and regularly freeze for 30 seconds or so, then the screen goes black and I can continue playing. I am not sure about the interval, but I guess it happens every 10 minutes or so, and it seems to happened more often if I have just died in game. Because of the crashing I tried to play some other games, like Satisfactory and Subnautica. These games are not playable at all, as they seem to crash within a certain amount of time after starting them (roughly 3-5 minutes in). The error I get in those Unreal Engine games is something about not being able to find a D3D device (Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0006 - 'HUNG'). This all started after my brother lent me his 1080ti (which is better than my old Kepler based GPU). He also noticed similar issues while he was playing WoW as well. I didn't really notice at first, because I played games that were fairly easy to run. I tried to run some stress tests like FurMark and Superposition to see if I could replicate any of these freezes. If I run the Superposition 1080p Extreme benchmark It will likely crash around scene 8 or 14 (out of 17), but I got it to finish once for some reason. I can run the Superposition 8K Medium without crashing multiple times. FurMark on the other hand seems to hang regularly when the GPU temp reaches 80C, for a second at a time. I tried to add a cable from my PSU to the GPU as I was only using one 8-pin split cable going to the two 8-pins on the GPU. FurMark doesn't seem hickup anymore after I did this. What do you think is the problem here, and is there anything I can do to fix it?
