Hello there, I've been thinking of adding a second low-performance GPU to my computer that would exclusively be dedicated to nvenc for streaming. My specs are as follow: - MSI x570 MPG GAMING PLUS - Ryzen 5 3600 - Zotac 1080ti mini - (PNY 1060 6GB (the GPU I wanted to add)) - 2*16+2x8GB of Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 @ 3000MHz (CL15) - Corsair CX650M PSU Now I know 650W sound a bit short but I double checked all max power consumptions and it should've been fine by over 60W, which should've been enough even for the power spikes, and anyway it's a Corsair PSU so there should've been protections against a higher consumption than its rated wattage. Description of the problem Upon adding the 1060, plugging everything on and turning the computer on, it never POSTs. The debug lights are stuck on "CPU". Removing the 1060 doesn't change anything, the computer won't boot again. What i've tried - Removing the 1060 → Obviously didn't work - Unplugging the computer, holding the power button and waiting a minute in case ESDs are still a thing → Nope, still no result - Resetting the CMOS by shorting the JBAT1 jumper on my mobo → Still nothing My work depends on that computer (and so does my gaming, but that's just my afternoons), and I would be really glad if any of you had another suggestion before I have to dismantle my computer and check every part individually, which i don't really have time for, and would be a real pain, due to how much time it took me to route everything as cleanly as possible. . Sincerely, Vlad.

Okay so recently I found a really good deal on a desktop online that I couldn't pass up. For the curious I paid $650 for an ATX tower, complete with a corsair 750w, gskill 8x2, Pentium g5400, and a GTX 1080Ti founders edition with an evga hybrid liquid cooler. I mostly use this rig for tycoon/sim type games, or less demanding applications like clone hero, hotline miami, etc. However. I do like to stream from time to time, and it seems most people like watch Warzone. I enjoy CoD, but when running it on my setup, I usually only run about 40-50 fps on max(ish) settings. Also, when streaming, I seem to drop frames like crazy. I figured it definitely has to do with my underpowered CPU, and to further confirm my suspicions, the dropped frames issue seems to have been alleviated after enabling hardware encoding on OBS. Anyway. Here's my main question. Would upgrading my CPU help my frame rate dilemma in warzone and other high demand games? Cyberpunk seems to struggle as well. T.I.A. ~sleazyboi

Budget (including currency): Country: Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hi All, I'm building a pc for my brother using a few of my friends, cousins and my spare parts.. Will a first gen ryzen 5 1600 and a gtx 1080 ti bottleneck at 1080p? If so, how badly? Thanks for reading!

Hi, I've been using the Phanteks Evolv Shift X case for some time. It has a small X470-I motherboard and a 2700X processor so the number of PCIe lanes is limited. I have two M.2 NVMe disks so for the graphics card I stay X8 instead of X16. In the beginning I used the GTX 1080 Ti, now the RTX 3080. And that's all the time in the X8 and all in all, I don't notice any big drops in FPS (ignoring the CPU that currently limits the card). How is it with link width, is it not using even half PCIe speed most of the time?

Hey guys I currently have a build that includes a msi b350m gaming pro motherboard which I bought for a budget build a few years ago.trying to save money by not buying a whole new mobo and I just found a sweet deal on 1080ti but I'm just wondering if it'll work OK if I put a ryzen 7 1800x and the 1080ti in it. Kinda worried that if I put those two on that motherboard it'll fry it or something. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, so today when I turned on my computer, the system turned on, my ram lit up fans turned on etc, but no display, was working earlier that day so confused I press the power button on the case to reset and I seen sparks fly from the case. I quickly unplugged everything, after investigating I found the damage as you can see in the picture. So I guess what my question is, is there anything that can be done for the card and what might have caused this to happen, just a bad card or could there be a problem with my system?. I'm picking up a 3070 tomorrow hopefully and don't want there to be a problem when I try to put it into my system. A little info on the system, b550 aorus master motherboard Ryzen 9 3900x Aorus gtx 1080ti Hx1000i platinum power supply I've had the system for over 2 years with no problems and recently upgraded the motherboard and cpu, about 4 months ago with what's listed above, haven't had any troubles before this. I powered on the system without the graphics card to make sure it's still working, everything seemed fine, no error codes in the read out on the board but won't know till I get a replacement card Cheers in advance

Hey guys, I am having an issue with my set up where having 2 monitors connected to my GPU is causing it to crash to grey or black screens. This tends to happen after the system only being on for a short time. However when I only use my main display the system runs fine. I am able to play games and use the pc as normal with no crashes at all. GPU temps are normal when gaming and the card is at stock clocks so I don't believe it's a temperature issue. I have the latest bios and drivers. I have tried doing a clean driver install using ddu to clear the old ones. Further I have tried a new dvi cable for the second monitor and using the hdmi port on the card instead. However the crashing still persists. The monitor works fine with my poxy work laptop so I don't think the problem lies there. I have looked at loads of forum posts detailing similar issues on older cards but can't find a solution that works for me. I'm at a bit of a loss with it, but I'm probably missing something really obvious. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I'm sorry if this isn't the place to post this - let me know if so.. I have tried damn near everything to solve this - The user.cfg hotfix file, vsync, NVIDIA control panel/experience all settings, all of it. Turned off all overlays (origin, nvidia, xbox) and overclocking apps, viva/fraps, killed processes i.e. I'm all out of ideas. Online/offline made no difference, setting all options to low got me 32 fps and ultra @200 resolution scale gets me 26-30?? I'm livid and at the edge of giving up. Playing on Origin, EA Play subscription, from an SSD. GTX 1080 Ti, Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB RAM

So long story short I've bought an used 1080 ti aorus xtreme to complete my build but when I installed it and tried it I probably got overheating problems which freeze the PC. I've made a Reddit post where I explained the problem a little bit more and two people told me that it's probably cause of dried out thermal paste which is what I thought. Because I don't really feel comfortable disassembling I went to my local pc store to ask them about it. After I've explained him my issue with the gpu he told me that it's probably not the thermal paste etc. and that changing it would probably not help that much cause the 1080Ti isn't that old to have dried up paste. He told me that the gpu board or the chip are probably faulty. Is that possible when the fans on the gpu are working and the gpu has expected performance? If you need more info about the problem or my setup just let me know and I'll provide them asap. Also I'm sorry for any grammatical errors I'm not native English speaker.

Hi all, I started playing Cyberpunk 2077 last night on my watercooled 1080ti. I realised I didn’t have the latest drivers and clean installed them. I resumed playing, still getting around 90 fps until I started to stutter and then the fps dropped to 10. After some poking around I found that my mem clock speed was stuck at 405 MHz instead of 2000+. I managed to fix the issue (for now) by removing the OC and running stock. My question is, could this have been the new drivers? Or maybe the game causing this, or perhaps just a freak coincidence? Any advice is appreciated.

GPU: MSI Gaming X 1080ti (in the second PCIe slot because the top one is dead as far as I can tell) CPU: 6700K @ stock (has been OC'd at 4.7 for a while but I turned it off to troubleshoot) 32GB memory @ 2666MHz Motherboard is an MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon Monitor is 3440x1440 (Acer Predator X34 w GSYNC) PSU is a Corsair CS750M 80+ gold Nvidia drivers are v457.09 Was having some crashes and sporadic severe fps drops before, thought I'd fixed them (I reseated the GPU in its slot, moved the 8pin to 2x8pin to a different port on the PSU, and increased the mounting pressure on the CPU). None of these issues have reappeared but now I'm getting the problem described in the title. Most of my games run at a high fps but the input feels choppy. Total War: Warhammer 2 runs at 20fps in the overview and 6 in battles (approximately 1/3 and 1/8 of the expected performance, respectively). I've seen core clocks drop as low as 139MHz (compared to the normal boost of ~1950) Temps are fine, PSU doesn't even get warm, GPU temps sit at around ~60C on the default stealth fan curve and drop down to ~40 with a custom curve which spins them up earlier and higher. CPU temps are similarly fine. It shouldn't be thermal throttling, and the spikes I'm seeing aren't typical of thermal throttling anyway.\ What the heck is going on?

I am experiencing some issues while playing some games. I noticed this first when I tried to play WoW. The game will suddenly and regularly freeze for 30 seconds or so, then the screen goes black and I can continue playing. I am not sure about the interval, but I guess it happens every 10 minutes or so, and it seems to happened more often if I have just died in game. Because of the crashing I tried to play some other games, like Satisfactory and Subnautica. These games are not playable at all, as they seem to crash within a certain amount of time after starting them (roughly 3-5 minutes in). The error I get in those Unreal Engine games is something about not being able to find a D3D device (Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0006 - 'HUNG'). This all started after my brother lent me his 1080ti (which is better than my old Kepler based GPU). He also noticed similar issues while he was playing WoW as well. I didn't really notice at first, because I played games that were fairly easy to run. I tried to run some stress tests like FurMark and Superposition to see if I could replicate any of these freezes. If I run the Superposition 1080p Extreme benchmark It will likely crash around scene 8 or 14 (out of 17), but I got it to finish once for some reason. I can run the Superposition 8K Medium without crashing multiple times. FurMark on the other hand seems to hang regularly when the GPU temp reaches 80C, for a second at a time. I tried to add a cable from my PSU to the GPU as I was only using one 8-pin split cable going to the two 8-pins on the GPU. FurMark doesn't seem hickup anymore after I did this. What do you think is the problem here, and is there anything I can do to fix it?

Hi guys and gals I am kinda new to this so I thought I'd ask opinions first, I recently acquired a nivida gpu (I assume palit by the power layout) however I have no idea what the card is Looking at the ram slots I am guessing a 1080 11gb however I am not sure on where to start the repair (if possible) Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Link to images (https://1drv.ms/u/s!ApfImBXZnhHzhkLKIm0K0k5KFC1v?e=xSwoPo )

Currently I have a Dell S2716DG 144Hz 1440p 27" monitor (https://www.dell.com/lv/business/p/dell-s2716dg-monitor/pd) and would like to buy a second, cheap, similar looking one for a dual display setup - Dell P2419H 60Hz 1080p 24" monitor. (https://www.dell.com/hr/business/p/dell-p2419h-monitor/pd). I've read lots of forums and reddit posts but the opinions vary, so you are the community I trust. #floatplane My question is, is it possible to connect them both easily at their own resolution and refresh rate without any problems or a bigger performance impact?

Hey guys, Let me go straight to the point - MSI Afterburner or GPU Tweak II? I've been using GPU Tweak and setting their Gaming profile as default. However, I feel that I can get a better performance with some tweaks, or just by moving to Afterburner with some custom profile? My Setup: MOB: ROG Maximus X Hero CPU: i7 8700k (running at 4.6MHz) GPU: Strix 1080ti OC (Gaming Profile from GPU Tweak II) Cooler: Kraken X62 RAM: RipJaws DDR4 2400 CL14 2x8gb (Yes, I know...) PSU: Seasonic Focus Plus 750W Gold

Hello All! I currently have a GTX 1060 6GB and i'm not getting the performance that I want. I would like to run at 1080p 144fps. I would like to wait for the RTX 3070 but I doubt that i'll be able to get one. I was just curious if it would be worth it to spend around $300-400 on a used 1080 ti. So I have the TR 1950X and a 1080ti both liquid cooled in a TT900. Cooling is not my issue. I have 64GB of RAM at 3000MHz. I can run Escape from Tarkov just fine. I can run Eve Online just fine. But I can't run GTA Online. Whenever I get in a lobby I will drop frames for the first 10 minutes. Then I get random frame drops whenever major events happen or there are modders in the lobby. I'm not OC on anything. I was monitoring all cores on Ryzen Master at 3.70-3.74GHz with a few spikes up to 4.0GHz. I've done everything short of reinstalling windows at this point. At times it will lock up my PC all together.

Hey guys, I'm having issue with GPU temps on my rig with the following configuration: Masterbox Lite 5 ATX Mid Tower Case MSI Z390 Pro Carbon AC i7 - 8700k (Cooled by Masterliquid Lite 120) Asus 1080Ti Rog Poseidon (air cooled only right now) Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 C16 3200 MHz Corsair RM 750X 750W So the problem is: My GPU hits 90 C the second it gets under a load, TDP limit kicks in, card performs at 50% of its potential at temps between 85-90 C. I'm using the case open for now (which creates a dust problem, but it's still better). I live in a very hot city (35-40 degrees from time to time) and this is no doubt affecting the performance, but still, I think it shouldn't be this bad. I'm working on a liquid cooling solution. Also, I learned that Masterbox Lite 5 is an absolute hotbox, a little too late. I'm thinking about buying TD500 once I have the funds, along with the liquid cooling solution. But I wanted to ask if there is anything I can do without voiding the warranty until that is done. Thanks in advance! You can see how it looks in the attachment (sorry for the dust and crappy image.)

Hello LTT, So since yesterday I've struggled to find a cause as to why my rig is acting up. Last time it functioned properly, I had a succesful shutdown and everything was acting normal. As I tried to boot it up the next day, I kept getting "Critical Process Died" BSOD's. I tried System Restoring, Recovering via. an USB with the Windows System File Image on it, that process failed too, and ultimately since I was stuck in a loop. One of the error Qcodes I would get during the issues displayed on the mobo was: "9C" and "99" I resetted CMOS, did a BIOS Flashback but ultimately gave up and went on to a fresh Windows Install. Specs: MOBO: ASUS Z170 DELUXE CPU: Intel 6700K - OC@4.8GHZ with an H110i GT OS STORAGE: Samsung 950 EVO - NVME M.2 MEM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000MHz GPU: NVIDIA 1080TI FTW2 OC - HYBRID PSU: EVGA NOVA GOLD G2 - 850W _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ THE ISSUE: So I thought a fresh install would fix things, but nope. Just maneuvering in the desktop the system would hang for a bit, gradually becoming slower in terms of mouse input, and would ultimately result in a black screen and continue the sluggish operation till another black screen occured and ultimately the freeze would lock up the system and restart it. My guess was that it's a driver issue according to the black screens, so I rolled back the drivers to 41X.XX and tried with 44X.XX as well trying to fix the driver crashes. This again did not help. My next focus was to test the CPU and RAM, everything ok. CPU handled the load tests fine, and MemTest didn't report any issues either. I then reseated the GPU from the first PCIE lane to the second on the motherboard, the issue with freezes and stutters went away. I stress tested the GPU in UniEngine and FurMark and it handled that without any hickups. I removed the GPU and tested an ancient GPU (AMD 5850 Vapor-X) in the system, in the top slot PCIE (the one causing troubles) and I was suprised to see it being able to boot. I booted to windows, while seated in the first PCIE lane, with no problems. I even tried stress testing, general use, browsing etc, even installed the drivers successfully. No issues there. I removed the AMD card. I moved the 1080Ti to the second PCIE lane, and booted into windows. Stress tested, did some normal use and the card handled it fine. Could install drivers, and everything. Now I started to contemplate if the PCIE lane had started to go bad on my motherboard, or if my PSU was starting to act up. I do strongly believe that it's either the GPU or my MOBO. I then briefly wiped the 1080Ti connector and the MOBOS first PCIE lane with an alcohol wipe, and tried to make it boot and function from the first PCIE lane again. The system finally booted (which it struggled with before, with the random driver crashes and freezes/PC resets) now with normal operation during idle and browsing. However, when I went to stress test it and put some load on the GPU it started to make an electrical buzzing noise everytime the framerate dropped, and it would happen once every half a second. Like a tiny hiss, with frames dropping from 350+, down to 30-70, very briefly. But no crashes, no spikes in temps or anything. So I'm really confused as to what to do currently, I've yet to try to swap the PCI cables, and perhaps seat the GPU in another system (but I mean it worked in the second PCIE lane) Should I RMA either my MOBO or GPU? Should I try to clean out my PC a bit more, perhaps wipe the PCI lane again with some Isopropyl and test If I can make that hissing go away? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Additional Info: The GPU and CPU has never exceeded 65 degrees celsius under load, most commonly temperatures are set at around 55 degrees during play-sessions. Only the CPU has been overclocked, GPU has run on it's default boost clocks. The MOBO has has a problem with broken socket pins before, but it was sent back immediately for a repair and returned to me. Two years ago, I had a problem with an 1080 HYBRID that suddenly shorted on me. PC went dark, and it wouldn't turn on with the GPU seated, in neither slots. The PSU would give out a loud click noise when trying to turn the machine on, so there must've been a short in the GPU itself. I vape occasionally, and I have spotted some condensation in mild form building up, on the right side-glass panel of the case, but usually I'm dusting and wiping/blowing the whole system using a PC air-blower, once or twice every two months. I have carried the PC in the box and styrofoam the case came in (Phanteks Evolv ATX) to LAN parties, where the rig was seated on it's side in my car, not sure if this has deteriated the PCIE slot over time.

Hello everyone I recently purchased a new LG 32GK650F-B 32 inch monitor and am having serious grey and black banding occur when trying to watch or play anything. Ive tried adjusting every setting on both my monitor and NVIDIA control panel but have absolutely no luck. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Pic attached for reference. Also it is plugged in with display not HDMI and my internet is hardwired and incredibly fast so I doubt its a streaming issue. All settings are set to highest quality available within the streaming apps themselves.

3,5 years ago I was very proud to have saved up and earned enough to buy the following system: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X 32gb RAM 1080ti Quadro P2000 and an NVME Samsung to go with that. In a nice Corsair Air cube case. And Yes, the 2 graphics cards can run together. I'm an engineer so I use it for Solidworks and render stuff for architects. But I also like to game. Back then it was mainly Overwatch. Now it's still Overwatch, but also COD, BF, GTA V and can't wait for CyberPunk. Although I've seen the requirements for CyberPunk I don't see the need to upgrade. But looking at the age of my system I do. Because of my job I'm so used to upgrade every 3 years. But at the office we're now also looking at a cycle of at least 5 years. Would upgrading only be 'explainable' if I was a H4RDC0R3 gamer?

Hi, I wanted to turn off all the lights on the aforementioned card but EVGA Precision X1 doesn't allow me to do it. When I set the lighting mode to static off it only turns off the fan leds and the "EVGA GEFORCE 1080 TI" banner on the side. There is also the bottom corner "FTW3" light, top "EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti" light and the 3 power (I think) leds on the side banner (images included). When I try to change the colour it only changes the underside and the banner but the backplate and FTW3 are always on and don't change colour. Is there any way to turn them off without having to de-solder them like I did with the fan leds? Thanks
