Hello, Short story: I have a Phanteks p360a, 1080ti with arctic xtreme IV (3 slot down 1 slot up), ASUS PRIME X570-P. The gpu dos not fit the top pci slot and the motherboard manufacturer forgot to disclose on their page that their bottom PCI 4.0 16x slot is wired only as 4x. So my gpu runs at pci 3.0 4x, hence a bottleneck. The stock 1080ti cooler was an msi armor (only fit for a 1070 standard in a freezer and one of the fan died on top of it) so I would like to keep the xtreme IV. My solution would be a vertical bracket. Does anybody know any vertical bracket that could fit this weird sized gpu? (1 slot back 3 slot front) Thanks for the help in advance.

I took apart my Zotac 1080ti because one of the fans died. And as I'm taking it apart it seems that the PCB and the thermal pads are damp. The GPU is mounted vertically in my PC case.

Hello everyone! I've been having a problem with a GTX 1080ti I bought, its second hand. It worked well for about a year but now it seems struggling. I've tried other GPUs in the system and they work. I've tried different PSUs, different PCIe slots, different builds, can't seem to pinpoint it. Originally, it had started to artifact so I replaced the thermal pads and replaced the rather dried up thermal paste. They all make contact where the previous pads were too. So I put it back in the system and it artifacts but only under heavy loads, max temp is around 71c. Decided to crank the fan speed to 100, and it barely artifacts when benchmarking (using Superposition). Where I'm at currently is, the PC preforms mostly OK during the benchmark, stays on about 5ish minutes and then I lose my display and the PC does not boot itself off. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it? Thanks

Hi! While I was looking to upgrade my GTX 730 I found post on one forum about used Asus Strix GTX 1080 Ti. It’s owner says next: ” Card has a problem. In demending games it crashes sometimes, I fixed that by underclocking memory and core (for 502 and 400MHz, max that MSI Afterburner allows). I am using like that more than 6 months and it acts normal besides that it hasn’t same performances as 1080 Ti anymore. Searching for a problem I opened it, cleaned it and changed thermal paste by better one. Card earlier was reaching near 2GHz but now it goes to 1500Mhz. Hello. I want to buy thermal pads for my GPU, because I GPU temperature is getting near 90 C. I cannot get reliable information on what size of thermal pads I need for this. I can disassemble it and measure them, but don't want to, until I have thermal paste and thermal pads. Does anyone can help me here?

This is a sad time to be having GPU related issues at all but I guess you don't get to choose what happens to you. I think my GTX 1080ti is failing/dying and that's just I think judging from the errors I keep getting. So here is what happens My GTX 1080ti that has been acting weirdly lately, after prolonged use of the card in games I get some weird crashes (Discord crashes and restarts on it's own, Game Crashes, Chrome out of Memory Errors? (when i literly had 1/2 tabs open) and even sometimes the whole Display Driver) I tried re-installing Windows/Drivers/DDU (everything possible) and even was able to run some stress tests like Furmark,OCCT for hours Without any issues but sometimes after prolonged gaming sessions like ~3+hrs some or all the apps that were using the GPU suddenly crash and I can just start them normally without any issues. I checked the clocks,temps and everything was fine, I even tried under-clocking the core/mem in Afterburner to make the card more stable (but it didn't help) here are some screenshots of my issues if anyone can help me with this (I took them right after the crashes happened) Here is what I have tried so far : DDU and installing older drivers. (Same issue) Re-install Games/Windows - try different game. (Same issue). Try from Linux (Ubuntu) (Same issue for chrome error case, didn't test the game yet). Tried using "Nvidia MATS" tool version 367.38.1 to check if something is wrong with my VRAM, tested passed no errors. Tried OCCT/Furmark/MSI Kombustor Stress tests on VRAM/GPU for hour (no crashes). Tried Disassembling the card and manually cleaning everything (Which shouldn't be useful since the card temps never got beyond 74C) Still didn't help. Tried under clocking GPU Core and Memory from Afterburner and even Improving the fan profile a bit (Still didn't help with the crashes but it helped with the temperature abit) Honestly I'm out of ideas and I'd love to try your suggestions if you think there is something wrong. If the prices were fine enough I wouldn't mind buying a new GPU and getting over it already as I had this GPU since 2018 but I guess it's not going to happen anytime soon yet. if you need any more information please leave a reply and I will reply as soon as possible.

I have a Zotac GTX 1080 Ti AMP Extreme edition. It crashes in every game even when cool and even when low usage. I bought it used a while ago and it always had this issue however it wasn't as bad and I only had to underclock a tiny bit, and I got it for a good price so didn't see the point in returning it. However ever since then it has been gradually getting worse, I now have to do a -300 core and memory underclock. Both game crashes and whole PC crashes take place, and I also get artifacts before crashing Reinstalled Windows and Drivers. Changed PSU. Reapplied thermal paste. Problem persists. I know that graphics card do degrade overtime like most PC components, but I would really appreciate if anyone had any ideas on how to fix this. I was considering baking the GPU but have only been told to do this as a very last resort.

Hey, Got a K|NG|PIN 1080 Ti the other day. Took off the waterblock and installed the air cooler. Unfortunately one fan is spinning at (what I assume is) 100%. The fan is not detected by Afterburner or Precision X1, and I can therefore not control it. The software believes the fans are spinning at a very low RPM because that is what the fans that are detected (number 1 and 2, closest to the I/0) are spinning at. All temps on the card are below 40C. Help appreciated! Other (relevant) system info: 6700K Maximus 8 Formula (latest BIOs) RM750x Side related question - can i just remove the fan connector as long as I monitor the temps?

Hello everyone, My GPU (1080 TI) stopped working mid game for no reason. The screens went black and the GPU fans stopped spinning. Did a lot of troubleshooting as mentioned below and the result is always no signal output, fans don't spin and rgp don't turn on. I tried the following: Plug and unplug the GPU and the 8+8 power connector Plug it in the secondary PCI-E Tried to put the GPU in a completely different old system, no luck. Tried to a different GPU in my system and it worked (an old ATI HD 5550) The built-in Intel GPU is working The GPU is Gigabyte Aorus 1080 TI. I would really appreciate any help, Is there anything I can do or try to fix it? Especially with the current state of the market getting a replacement of any sort is out of the question

1080Ti running the 466.77 drivers. You can see the starting point on the graph where the core is at 1455mhz, is when the monitor is running at 240hz, and when I change it to 60hz, the core clock drops down to 139mhz. The reason it bugs me is that it causes the fans to spin up and down relentlessly while on the desktop.

I recently purchased a 1080ti as a replacement for my 1070 and no matter what I do this card refuses to boost, I've tried uninstalling drivers, trying old drivers, nothing. I even put in my old 1070 just to see if it was a power supply issue or something like that and that card boosts fine. Another thing to note is that on Nvidia inspector the power option is greyed out whereas on the 1070 it isn't. I'm not sure if this is a factor but I have to use two different PCI-E cables for my 1080ti so I have to put 1 6+2 on the first PCI-E slot on my power supply and another 6+2 on the other PCI-E slot on the power supply.

Hey, looking for a used 1080 Ti, and I'm unsure which model to pick. Don't need a Galax HOF type 1080 Ti, but looking for something better than a MSI Armor design. A midrange design in other words. Either a B-rank or a C-rank design from the LTT GPU VRM/Cooling list. I've had good experience with EVGA cards, and I do have a slight EVGA bias. Thinking about a) the ROG Strix one, b) The MSI Gaming X one, or c) the EVGA SC2 one. All around the same price. Which one would you choose? Or does anyone have any other suggestions for card designs that I might want to have a look at? Thanks in advance to all who answer!

Ok so guys i really need help and its kinda beating me and all my friends we just cant figure out what is up with my setup -Ryzen 9 3900x -Aorus master B550 -Aorus 1080ti -Psu Cooler Master V750 semi modular -Balistix sport Ram 2x8gb So we thought my gpu died and so i plug in a 1060 strix And everything boots and works with no problem but when my gpu is in the slot the pc doesnt post nothing like if its dead the only funny thing is the gpu spins the fans at normal speeds and but the white led lights on it dont work (fan stop,aorus letters,) but when i brought my gpu to the repair store they said its all good it ran unigine for hours no problem I tried bios update and i think the gpu has the newest bios aswell i tried connecting to HDMI DVI and Displayport and vareity of other adaptors nothing i tried diferent pcie slot and ram memory order on the board THE ONLY thing i did not try cause i cant is to connect additional 4 pin cpu because i saw somewhere that it also powers additional stuff on the pc alongside the cpu cause it kinda seems the gpu is out of power but on the other side 750W sounds like more than enough Even the people at the repair shop are just confused i checked the compatibility list of each part individualy and everything should be ok because if it ran 1060 why wouldnt it run a 1080ti the only difference between those two is the power draw..... Please help guys id appreciate your ideas

Hi, I bought a 1080ti just over 3 years ago (out of warranty now) and have had a bunch of issues with it but only during games. The pc generally runs certain games without any issues, but certain ones cause the application to freeze whilst I am still able to talk to friends on discord. Rebooting is the only way to get control of my system again. I had a bunch of issues when trying to play Wolcen around Feb 2020 (screenshot attached) and arranged an RMA with the company I bought it from who said they could not replicate the fault during 2 test sessions and sent the card back to me. I was incredibly frustrated with this as I could run the game without crashes on my Intel CPU graphics. I kept using the card as best as I could. Games like dota have given me very little cause for concern so I've just tried to make do. Recently though I have been playing Apex Legends and Warzone which have caused crashes constantly. I've tried all kinds of troubleshooting and the issue does not seem to be rectifiable. I ran Kombustor the other day and it didn't even last 10 seconds. I swapped the card out for a borrowed 1660 and I have had no crashing whatsoever. I'm really hoping there is something I've overlooked and that someone can provide a solution. Or if anyone has any advice on how to get the RMA done then I would greatly appreciate it. I can update with specs if it would help. Thank you

I tell you that I bought a second-hand gpu that seems to be faulty, I have been looking for thousands of solutions in this and other forums, I have seen that many people have run into this problem but none find the solution. The problem is that the core clock remains capped at 139mhz and the memory clock does not exceed 810mhz and the performance in games and beanchmarks are really bad, 12 FPS in Furmark I have already done different tests such as putting high performance mode in Windows and in the Nvidia panel, using DDU, reinstalling drivers, a clean installation of windows, using MSI Afterburner, Asus GPUTweekII, after trying various things I was forced to try flashing a BIOS taken from Techpowerup, but it didn't solve anything. So far the only thing I have found is that in GPU-Z the Power Draw Board is + 400w, PCIe Slot Power + 390w and a Power of 147% DOING NOTHING, simply on the desktop, a Perfcap reason is also added: Pwr, and a solid green line. So i'm currently planning a new PC build on Pc Part Picker's System Builder, and as I was scrolling TikTok I saw a guy recommending the 1080ti as it's still a good gpu and stupid cheap since it's so old. Decided to check it out and found this on eBay. 2 of these would go for about $281,83, WAY cheaper than the 1660ti I was originally planning on. This just seems too good to be true. I don't know alot about "SLI:ing", so like is there a catch I should know about or is this actually a good idea?

Hello i ve been having some problems for some weeks now with my pc. specs: Asus rampage iv extreme mobo 16 GB ram g skill + 16 GB ram mushkin i7 4820k proccessor cooled with a corsair liquid cooler 1080ti strix oc GPU Seasonic x series PSU some SSD drives and a big HDD I run a 3 screen setup It started in apex legends i was playing and suddenly the pc will go black and the fans will go at max speed, i had to manually shut it down and turn it on again, i then again tried to play again and the same problem ocurred. i left at that for that day as it was late, at the next day i was able to play for some hours and then the same issue will happen. i reinstalled drivers, followed some guide at nvidia forums using DDU, installed some old drivers that didnt work, then reinstalled the most recent i started doing some fixes i found online, uninstalled latest windows update, uninstalled some software like cortex and NZXT Cam which controls my case lights. i ran some cmd commands like scannow and chkdsk to see errors which is weird you know, cause my pc seems to be fine, but whenever this crashes appears and i restart my pc sometimes it will corrupt the disks which make me repairs them using this commands, other times i found apex (which is the game i try to test) uninstalled, after trying to install again, steam detect files and make it pop installed again. after some basic fixes it seems i got an error that srttrail.txt wont be read so i needed to repair my pc so i also wanting to discard software issues did a windows clean install, i did a full clean install and after it was installed again i went ahead and paused all windows updates it worked well for a whole day then the problem came back then i proceed to change pcie cables, i have tried already like 12 combinations of cables which oddly enough one give me solution and let me play for about 2 days but after that it reached the worst, now whenever i run a game like apex the crash will occur 10 second after the game starts. i cleaned the gpu and changed thermal paste, i used grizzly kryonout. ===================================================================== The temps of the system are actually very stable gpu around 40 with the new thermal paste on iddle and around 65 when stressed (when i was able to play for some time at least) and CPU around 35 to 45c The last error it did was a loop when turn it on, i was playing, the black screens fan max issue appeared so it shut it down, when i turn on the pc it would go like on for 3 second then off, then on again, then off like an infinite loop, i needed to turn off psu directly to end it, after that i turned it on and all went good. ==================================================================== After some time a friend said he had a gpu to borrow so we can test if it was the gpu. he brought a 750TI :/ As it doesnt even need pins for it to run i thought wow i dont really think this can work as test, it worked good i was able to play apex in very low graphics and 45 frames but it worked, again i was a bit deceived about it cause i really couldnt test that much, but then (remember i said i run a triple monitor setup?) i went to check online if the gigabyte version supported triple monitor cause i saw my monitors laying down there black and cold so after veryfing it does have support i went and tried. Problem started: First i it wont give signal, not even the press f2 to go to bios, nothing... pure black so i was like, those bastards lied to me, so i disconnected the other monitors and after restart it went good but i remember they did said the gpu did support multi monitors so I wanted to try again, this time i logged in the OS first, opened nvidia panel and started plugging monitors, they started giving picture and appeared listed in the multiple screens tab from the nvidia panel, i went and plug all of them and exit, i had it again triple monitor setup but then after a minute or less you guess... black screen and probably fan rev i dont really know the gigabyte have one little fan so it started spinning i was not able to hear anything. turned off pc disconnected other monitors and here i am. I installed my 1080ti again and now it crashes as soon as the log in screen appears. now i have the feeling is my PSU, cause it gave problems with the 750ti too, at nvidia they lean towards the gpu, even my ram could be the problem, i did the mem test and tried each stick by stick, all made apex crash at same conditions, at this point i know something hardware is faulty i just want to try to exactly know which one cause i want to invest my money into the right direction and avoid waisting into something that at the end wont fix my pc so if you could please help me i will be grateful with you for the rest of my life In case it seems PSU recommend any Brand for a 1080ti strix oc?

Hello, I recently bought a Gainward 1080Ti "Golden Sample" second hand and a few hours ago I had a bluescreen and upon starting the PC again the GPU was stuck on 139mHz. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers and I have also tried reseating the GPU. I also tried disabling all services on startup. Has anyone experienced this problem and knows how to solve it? Hello good people, first time posting here at the LTT forum! After watching Linus’s latest video about bottlenecks, it’s got me debating if I should upgrade my CPU or GPU/mb first? Is my CPU a big bottleneck? After about a year of gaming CoD ws on a pc bought used, I’ve never gotten more than 80-90 fps on normal settings, and 40-60 on high. Is this normal or is there something wrong? PcGameBenchmark tells me I should go for CPU first, but I want to hear what you good people have to say too. Note: Im not an expert on Pc stuff by far, therefore please be patient with me! :) If I were to upgrade my CPU, the Ryzen 7 5800x and asus x570 gaming is an option. Intel is not off the charts either, but I want to try AMD. If I were to upgrade my GPU, either the rog strix 3070 or the 3080 would be my options (depending when they get available and what my wallet allows) Ps: I sometimes have a problem with my 1080, when I start up my pc my gpu wont boost past idle clock. Its stuck at 250-500hz, while memory is always running st 5500 Mhz no matter what. Any recommendations as to why this is and how to fix it? First time it happened was when i plugged in my 2nd display, although unplugging it doesnt fix it. Thanks!

So I bought a 1080ti aroas extreme back in the day and recently it has started to overheat. I decided to clean tha card so I opened it up changed the paste and removed the dust. There was quite a bit of dust on the radiator and the paste was grimy so I thought that's got to be it I fired back up my pc and started to play around. Initially I was playing immortals fenyx rising on 4k ultra ish setings with AA turned to low Where the 1080ti was siting comfortable at 62c at 99% usage which is what I'm used to. I also have to add that the card was running oced from day one. Tho I have now lowered the oc partly because overheating and partly of the card becoming unstable. The setings I'm running now is 0% v core due to massively overheating even when I change it a bit +60 on core wich gives me 2012 and +600 on mem for 6100 also runing the fans on 100%. The problem is that In some games like immortals fenyx rising the card is fine but in others like ghostrunner (max setings 4k) the card hits 72 and crashed obviously so I turn off the oc and the card ends up hitting 88-90c after 2 hours nearly used at 70% where as in immortals fenyx rising the card is maxed and never gets past 65c even after 5 hours. I've also experienced this with other games like frostpunk and valhime.

I tried to underclock mess with the voltage (just a little, I’m up for trying it again) if you have any sort of suggestions please I’m willing to do anything... it sucks because it doesn’t have a warranty so I can’t return it. So any thoughts or help would be great. I recently upgraded my 1080ti to a 3090. I was using my 1080ti for mining when I wasn't gaming, so I want to keep the 1080ti and mine on it 24/7. I was wondering if I could buy an eGPU enclosure to house the 1080ti, to move it out of my system for temperature and power reasons. A used eGPU would be cheaper and more power efficient than a bare bones PC. I have an Asus Crosshair VIII formula motherboard and 3900x, the mobo has a USB-C port but no thunderbolt. Can you connect a thunderbolt eGPU to a USB-C port?
