Good day LTT, I am currently planning a major performance upgrade for my gaming PC. It currently has an i7-7700k and 2070 SUPER. I play at 1080p, aiming for 144hz (or 60hz on less competitive titles), and as much detail as possible without sacrificing FPS. While I play a variety of games (genre and age), several recent newer titles (Returnal, Spiderman, HZD, CS2, among others) have been unable to maintain FPS relevant to their genre and I would like to upgrade. I am fairly sold on the AMD 7800X3D on the CPU side (and 32GB of DDR5, up from my current 16GB), but for the GPU, I am less sure. Here are some of my thoughts: Budget: $500-$600. This is what I spent last time for my 2070 SUPER and I would like to stay in this price class this time. I am ok with used from a reputable seller. Resolution: 1080p. I am happy with my current monitor, and don't have any immediate plans to go to another resolution anytime soon. I may get a 4K TV but couch gaming will be limited to more casual titles over steamlink, so I am ok with less performance here. FPS: As close to 144hz as possible for all titles. I do like to play some faster-paced titles and I like smooth fast frames. 60 FPS minimum is my goal in non-competitive or fast-paced games. Detail level: Many recent games have required me to adjust the details noticeably low to maintain 60 FPS minimum. I do use Ray Tracing where available Longevity: I am hoping to have this card remain viable for most titles (again, I'm not always playing the newest stuff, but having a variety) for ~4 yrs, which is seeming like my normal GPU upgrade cycle. CPU will likely stay for at least 5 years. Non-Gaming Usage: I don't do much rendering or productivity that hits the GPU, but I do regularly stream to twitch, currently on the nvenc encoder To those ends, I am currently between one of the 4070 cards (base Super, TI, TI Super) or a used 3080/3080 TI. However, I am curious if you all would recommend any other options based on the above criteria. Thank you in advance!

Hi there, I am curious about what docking station i need for my laptop (MSI katana 15 b12v) to support my monitor (MSI MAG241C) with the full 144hz. I also watched many videos and read many threads to get an answer but i still can't find it. I only need it to be 1080p because my monitor doesn't support 4K, i would love a recommendation that isnt too expensive but still supports 1 HDMI or DP output for my monitor that reaches the 144hz.

I recently changed from 4k to 1080p for gaming and everything looks pixilated. I was wondering what i could do to fix this.

I've been struggling to find affordable PC components lately and could really use some guidance on upgrading my system or even building a completely new PC. I currently run an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core processor and a GTX 1660 SUPER graphics card, but I'm unsure if this setup is sufficient for video editing or if I need an upgrade. I'm having trouble locating budget-friendly components, and I'm not sure if my PC's performance is subpar or if there's room for improvement. Do I need to upgrade my CPU, GPU, or both to avoid bottlenecking? Additionally, I'm experiencing some issues with recording, and I'm not sure if it's related to my OBS settings. I generally don't push my game settings to the maximum, ensuring they are playable and the video quality is decent, but in some games, the recording quality still suffers. Can anyone offer advice or point me in the right direction? I'm open to suggestions and appreciate any help. Thanks a bunch!

I’m not sure if this is the place to ask,but I want to build a pc build that has at least more than 2 Tb of space and can play games with at least more than 40 fps. Also I don’t play large games like cyberpunk 2077 or csgo but I want a pc that can like play any game like youtubers (for exemple markiplier has a pc that can withstand multiple types of games with good quality) and finally longevity. Budget : 1500$ (15000 mad) but less is preferred Country: Morocco Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: everything Other details : I’m not really sure because all the computers I have ever used were only laptops, but primarily I need a pc that can be upgraded that has lots of storage

I made an account here, hopefully you can help me more than reddit did. (Card / PC is able to hit the refresh rates of both on almost every single scenario, so don't worry about that) What do you prefer? -Game Rendered at 4K but later downscaled to a 1080p Screen at 75hz -Game Rendered at 4K but later downscaled to a 1440p Screen at 60hz Basically comes down to the whole "Resolution vs Framerate" debate. 144 hz sadly it is not an option, I do not have a 144 hz screen, these are separate monitors, of which run at the speeds / hz mentioned before.

I have a PB287Q monitor that is capable of reaching 4K 60hz over DP 1.2. the monitor ALSO has HDMI 1.4 but I’m only able to get 1080p or 1440p both at 60hz out of my XBOX Series X. my question is this: if I get a higher end HDMI TO DP 1.2 converter can I get 1080p 120hz made available to me on my XBOX series x SINCE the monitor supports 4K 60hz on DP 1.2. (DP 1.2 supports 1080p 120hz technically but that doesn’t explicitly mean the monitor’s display or internal components support it, right? I feel like if it can do 4K 60 it should be able to reach 1080p 120hz) Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I’m trying to figure out if I can avoid wasting money on a cable if this will not work.

I need direction in this post and with monitors. This is most likely on of the first ever forum post. I am nervous since I don't do this much and Linus may already have a video for this exact topic. Please forgive me if that is the case. I feel like I'm a pretty tech savvy person but I have no clue when it comes to monitors. I struggle to grasp what type of monitor should be used for what type of activity (Gaming, Video Editing, Graphic Art) I mostly would love to know what size is "most common" - Maybe specifically what size are most games designed for or programs are designed for. I also would love to know what are good options for each monitor size (I don't need cheapest I would just like great quality for the money. Top of the line is not interesting for me since I dont plan on breaking the bank)

Hi, I've being trying to determine what would be the best method of duplicating my PC display to my Office Monitor and Living Room TV. At the moment I've got all my outputs connected to my 980ti GPU via Hdmi 2.0 108p 120hz and Display port 120hz. Unfortunately I'm encountering graphical glitches when one display is off and black flashes and redetecting the off display. Would a Hdmi splitter better solution? Cheers.

I've got a p106/igpu setup and i know nvidia card enabled or not, i can't go over 60 hz on windows or linux. My monitor is supposedly able to support 4k and 120hz... but i just wanna try high refresh 1080p. Ive seen people with uhd 630 graphics get over 60 at 1080p, so i know its possible. Is there something im doing wrong? Z390 motherboard and generic hdmi cable.

Jack of all trades, master of none - I want a monitor that can handle both work and play, but have limited exposure to how bad of a compromise it might require. - For my work, I need a 32" 4k monitor - For gaming, I have a legion laptop so I only play at 1080p. I mostly play FPS casually, but I also enjoy more cinematic older stuff like Tomb Raider and RDR2. I don't need super high frame rates or ultra settings on the latest games. I'm happy with 100-144fps for FPS and 60fps for slower-paced aesthetic stuff. My question: how bad is 1080p gaming on a 4k monitor? Will it look unplayable due to blur or pixelation? Would I still be able to play 1080p at +100 fps, or will having to drive a 4k monitor mess with that? I've tried learning how resolution scaling on external monitors works but I don't really get it. Ideally in the future I'll have a setup that will be 4k gaming capable, so being able to keep the same monitor would be a plus. I appreciate any experience you can share, thanks in advance!

I am looking to upgrade my monitor, 144hz Zowie XL2311P, for a monitor that is at least 240hz. I just want it to be 24", 1080p, at least 240hz, good response time, and great motion clarity non of that ghosting stuff. I am stepping away from TN monitors since I heard IPS monitors can match TN monitors now in refresh, response and motion blur plus the better image quality. VA panels I'd rather avoid because I did have a few 144hz VA monitors in the past and they all had obvious ghosting whenever I play darker games, motion clarity on VAs back then did not even compare to TNs but I heard they are better now but if you are used to TNs better motion clarity you will notice, at least from what I heard. I have a list of available monitors in the store where I live but I just cannot decide what to get or if they actually differ that much. I can forgive color quality and viewing angles because I come from a TN monitor and I will mostly be gaming and looking at white a white screen for work but I just can't take ghosting in game and poor motion quality or motion blur. I need the higher refresh rate because I play a lot of competitive FPS like csgo and valorant. I will post screenshots of the monitors available to me and the pricing is in Philippine Pesos. How does the cheapest compare to the most expensive one? Is there a brand to avoid or one that is infamous for ghosting or smearing? Personal experiences with any of these monitors? Is the jump from 240hz to 390hz worth the almost $100 price jump? Or are the features really worth the extra cash? I just really want something that is plug-and-play and is at par with my current Zowie monitor in terms of motion blur/clarity but at a higher refresh rate. I know I am asking a shit ton of questions, lol, but hey if you have steam or into csgo I could trade you a skin or two for the help.

Budget (including currency): 2300 EUR Country: The Netherlands Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: GTA The Last of Us Part 1 God of War Cyber Punk Upcoming BF and COD CSGO (main game) Currently playing a lot of CSGO but with my new PC, which is obviously overkill for just CSGO, I hope to play new games that come out in the next 2-3 years. Any opinion on the build would be nice. Currently undecided about the following: whether I need a Z790 MOBO or if a B760 would be enough. I will not be overclocking my GPU or CPU, nor do I have any experience in that. If I should pick the MSI MPG A850G PSU intead for PCIE5. If I should switch the 4070i for a 4070 or go for an AMD option instead (more VRAM) I7-13700k or i7-13700? Thanks in advance

Hello Everyone ! Before you start reading this I would like to thank you in advance for helping my ignorant self build a PC. Budget (including currency): 2000€ ± 200€ Country: France Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: World Of Warcraft, Risk Of Rain 2, Tiny Tina Wonderlands, Streaming/Recording, Programming Machine Learning Mostly. Other details: Building my first PC currently using Omen Laptop with GTX 1070 and i7-8750H. I can finally build a Desktop PC, Ideally it should be able de run 1080p on 144HZ screen with constant FPS for the foreseeable future. I could dable in some 1440p gaming but I more concerned about have a long lasting PC. I was thinking of something like this: https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/QQMYMb For GPU I've been wanting to go team red for a while but Nvidia is still amazing for Machine Learning applications ... Still i've be hesitating between RX 7900 XT, RX 6950 XT or RTX 4070 (Recently on discount at <600€) For CPU i'm kinda clueless since I know it can bottle neck the GPU performance but I don't have a horse in intel vs AMD battle Important Note: I attache no importance to the appearance of the PC PS: I've read on some blogs that AMD is more expensive in France than other countries so if anyone has some info on that I'm curious. Thank for you time. Updated Link.

So, I'm having trouble deciding because I am driving 2 different resolution displays, 1080p and 4k. I use the 1080p display vertically and mostly for secondary tasks, and the 4k display as my main work and gaming display. I have a ASRock 5600 XT 6GB, and then separately I have 2x PowerColor Red Devil RX 570 4GB cards. So, I'm wondering if it's better to use the 2 cards, so each display is driven individually or the one card for both. Gaming on a 4k display adds to the workload of the GPU so I'm not sure if I should be using a whole card or part of one. Apart from playing games like Minecraft or Valheim, I do some work in Blender modeling or rendering scenes, and photo/video editing. I am hoping someone can give some numbers to justify the answer they give, and i understand that I could pair the 5600 XT with one of the 570s, but I also want to use less power, I have an 850W psu. Any suggestions help!

So I’m planning on upgrading from my gtx 1080ti and I don’t know whether I should get a 3070 or a 3080 fe. I have a Ryzen 7 5700X and I am planning on using my system for gaming at mostly 1080p with a 144hz monitor (pretty sure it’s 1080p) but also for creative tasks (content creation). My main reason for an upgrade is primarily for vr (quest 3). So what would be the best bang for buck? i heard people say that the 3080 is overkill for 1080p, but usually higher end cards last longer and are more future proofed, I also don’t plan on upgrading my pc anymore (unless a component fails fully)

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a dual monitor set up (pref 27" not ultrawide). Ideally I want two IPS panels because well I like colour accuracy. I'm rocking a 1660s and 3600 so realistically for the next year I won't realistcally be going above 144fps at 1080p or 75fps at 1440p but I really want to utilise the extra pixel density of the higher res panel. I was thinking about getting a high refresh 1080p monitor for competitve FPS games and a moderate refresh rate 1440p monitor for scenic games. BUT I also want the monitors to visually identical becuase.. well symmetry. I'm not likely to upgrade my GPU/CPU for a good while so I don't see myself needing higher refresh rate monitors than these. This is what I have found so far (I'm aware the description of the 1440p one is VA but I'm guessing that is wrong): https://www.box.co.uk/AOC-Gaming-27G2UBK-27-Full-HD-IPS-Free_2766292.html https://www.box.co.uk/AOC-Q27G2UBK-27-QHD-FreeSync-144Hz-Gam_2869502.html Are these good deals? Or am I barking up the wrong tree. Any help would be appreciated. Peripherals are not my strong point as its a minefield
