I am planning to buy a MSI Gaming X 1070, but i have one concern, on the pictures and videos ive seen online, it looks to have both a 6 pin and a 8 pin socket, what do i do? Do i need a special power supply?ALSO, my TDP for the entire build is 400 watts. Thanks in advance.

so i sent in a GTX 980 for repair and the company i sent it to is asking if id be okay with a GTX 1060 as a replacement. should i accept the GTX 1060 or see if they will give me a GTX 1070?

So I've struggled with this problem for a long time. Simply put, the offset for the core frequency is not going up by the proper amount when I increase it. (i.e. I added +86MHx to a 1913MHz clock and got to 2075MHz, or subtracting -15MHz to drop from 2075MHx to 2050MHz), and it's three clockspeeds for where I have it set are either 2050, 2062, or 2075MHz. XOC does not usually save my overclock after a period of my computer being off, even when I put it in a profile and defaults to somewhere between 1913MHz to 1986MHz. I keep having to reduce the overclock to keep it at 2062MHz since 2075 is unstable. I made a forum post several months ago and got NOTHING. I would really like some help or advice. Thank you. I will provide extra information/screenchots if you need any.

I'm planning an interesting build, and I'd appreciate some tips about cases. The new box will live in our den, and its two main jobs are to run 24/7 as our family NAS and to fill in as an HTPC (attached to a 1080p projector). However, it'll ALSO have a GTX 1070 gpu for big-screen gaming. Moreover: When it's NOT being used to game or watch movies, it'll run NiceHash - I'm hoping that the mining craze will last a few more months, which should help pay off some of the components! (And if not, that's OK.) Specs: - Custom water cooling (240mm or 360mm rad) - 2-3 quiet 120mm case fans - B350 Motherboard with 16gb RAM - Ryzen 1700 (water cooled) - GTX 1070 (water cooled) - 1x Bluray DVD (because my wife still likes her DVDs ... ) - 1x 240gb SSD - 2x 3TB HDs - 550 W PSU (=room for a little OC) So ... what kind of case would you guy recommend for this project? Criteria: - Everything fits!! - Isn't so stuffed that it overheats - the thing will spend most of its time mining, and I want to keep temps down. - Cheap (max $150) - Understated looks - black metal MAYBE a window to show off custom WC - No bigger than necessary I was originally hoping for a Mini-ITX build (say, a Corsair Obsidian 250D), but I'm starting to think that an ATX mini-tower would be more reasonable. Maybe just grab a Fractal r5 and call it a day. But maybe there's something more interesting out there ... -

I build my friend a computer just at the end of 2017 (before Ryzen!), with a 7600k CPU and the asus strix 1070. The first couple of days it worked perfectly, with 100+ Fps on Overwatch, but when he tried to install Rocket League, the game only ran with 1-2 Fps. The next day he couldnt even run Overwatch (0-1 Fps). I then made him check task manager at, and he said that it the CPU usage was at 100% constantly (80-90% from Overwatch, 10 or so from Discord). I then searched the webs and found only people wondering why the CPU usage was so high, but none had less than 70 Fps. The motherboard is a h270 so no overclocking (his choice). System specs: i5 7600K Asus Strix 1070 Asus ROG Strix H270F Gaming G.Skill FlareX 16 gb Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Any help would be greatly appreciated, but it may take a little time for me to response, cause i dont have the computer that close. -
So first off, please immediately notify me if this is not the proper place for this discussion, however,if it is, I have been saving for a pc for quite a few months now, and have acquired around $1400, and my initial plans were this build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6BWTvV However, as you can tell, it is around $1571 as of writing this post. Now, what I have seen this past week is the 1070 going from $380 up to $460, and the 1070 ti going from $450 to $550. Now, because most websites have been saying "out of stock", without saying a new shipment will be in soon, I assume there is a shortage. First of all, where are these gpu's going, am I being stupid and not looking at the right sites, or is there something going on just recently? Or was I just previously seeing amazing prices, and now those have sold out and normalized to previous prices? I really am not sure, and I want some help. Now, and yes I know it is a bit overkill, but I wanted to run a 1070 for 1920x1080p so I could guarantee max graphics and 60fps. Is that worth the price hike, or should I just settle with the 1060 6gb? Thank you, -Potato

I've recently been building my new rig, the only part left to upgrade other than the monitor is my GPU. The 960 is still okay for 1080p 60hz but I'm looking at a 1440p 60hz panel as an upgrade. The 980ti is currently around £280-£320 and the cheapest new 1070 is £380. Is it worth the extra £100, or should I take a 980ti and save some money? UPDATE: I got an MSI 980ti for £290, was definitely the better choice with the whole cryptocurrency debacle right now. Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm new here. I have an EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC 8GB graphics card. I have a 24" curved Samsung monitor, and a 50" Westinghouse Smart 4K TV that I'm trying to setup to use as dual monitors. The way my room is set up, the TV is adjacent to my desk, so I'm just trying to use the TV for video games and background movies, etc. The ports on my graphics card are 1 HDMI, 1 DVI-D, and 3 Display Ports. I have an HDMI cable going to my monitor, and a 4K HDMI cable from my TV to a Display Port adapter into my graphics card. For some reason, when I connect more than one cable into my graphics card, both screens go black and say "No signal". I was eventually able to get them both to work by using the NVIDIA Control Panel and using the display settings, but it didn't last long, and eventually whether I used my TV to watch actual television, or switch to my Xbox One S and then revert back to my PC, the same issue would happen, and in order to access my PC, I had to restart my machine manually. I was wondering if I was somehow doing something wrong, or if I should just buy two Display Port to HDMI cables, and skip trying to use an adapter. The same thing happened when trying a DVI-D to HDMI adapter as well. The 4K enabled HDMI cable was the one that I received with my Xbox One S, the HDMI cable going to my monitor is a 15' cable I got on Amazon, and the Display Port to HDMI adapter is an INSTEN brand that I purchased from Walmart.com. I'm seriously puzzled as to why I'm having difficulty with this. I originally had an EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti 2GB graphics card before I purchased the GTX 1070, and had absolutely no issue when trying to setup dual monitors; though I'm not using any of the same equipment. I apologize for all of this craziness, but if anyone could help me out I would be so grateful. Thank you so much for your time. P.S - I was recently given an AMD FX 8320 Black Edition CPU for Christmas from a couple of friends, and I didn't try this beforehand. I have a 1070 and I don't know if it could handle the games well, can you help? Also, what do I need to get when I get the oculus (Wires, adapters, etc.). Also also, I forgot if the oculus rift can run steam games, if you know please tell.

I am almost certainly going to buy a new 4k monitor (as I have found one for only £215) however I currently have a 970 and know I would need to upgrade. I was considering getting a 1070 to go with it (as 1080s are rather expensive) and I was wondering how well 1070s can be overclocked and how well they perform on 4k with about medium settings. Another possibility I thought of, is using the 4k for videos, movies, desktop use etc. and then just gaming at 1440p / 1080p. Does anyone have any experience with this method and if so what are your opinions on it?

I decided to OC my 1070 ti, i used msi afterburner to overclock my gpu and i added +250 core clock and +500 memory clock and added no voltage to it. I benchmarked it using heaven benchmark and it worked fine and it showed that it was running at the correct speeds. So im wondering if this is right because i compared my overclock to other 1070 ti overclocks and they had less speed than me with voltage on 1.095 while my voltages are at stock.

I was hoping to get some opinions on choosing a CPU to upgrade my current set up, I already have 2 monitors, here what I am planning on going with. What I have: GTX1070 OC 1440p 144hz gsync monitor 1080p 60hz What I plan on Buying: Mobo: MSI B350 Tomohawk Ram:16 GB 2666 mhz Noctua NH-U12S Cooler My real question: Is the 1600x going to limit/bottle neck the 1070 for 1440p gaming? And is it worth it to jump up to 1700x or 1800x for the additional cores for "future gaming"? I would prefer not to spend the extra money, but I would prefer even more not to have to spend the extra money in the next 2-3 years. Thanks! -
Hello, I'm planning to buy 3 new asus PG248Q monitors that has only a displayport and a hdmi port, but the problem is that I currently have a asus gtx 1070 O8G wich has 2x displayport connectors, 2x HDMI and 1x DVI-D. I want to use 1080p and 144hz on all monitors so wich specific adapter do i need to connect DVI-D on gpu to a Displayport monitor with 144hz? Or what other options do i have. (without replacing the GPU)

So i've been trying out some games I was thrilled to play on my decently new rig. I play CSGO mainly, and get about 200-300 fps. But I just now played Saints Row 2 and the second mission (in the police building) i got lower than 30fps, which I think shouldn't happen. Saints Row: The Third runs better, but still only 120 fps and lower at certain missions and spots on the map. I want all my games to atleast go above 144fps. I have searched through many different forums and alot of answers and solutions. I've tried overclocking, going through the BIOS, disableing GeForce Experience (without removing it completely) , Nvidia controlpanel adjustments, installing new drivers and obviously lowering settings ingame of all games i've ran. None of it have helped much. Any more suggestions that might fix the issue? My specs: And Windows 10 Home

Hello my fellow techies, I come here looking for your assistance/advice. My system (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sLYcWX), which has been running smoothly since mid may has been having weird problems lately. Before, I'd be able to play pretty much all games in full-res with 60fps, however now it almost alway hoovers around 20 - 30. A few especially weird thing: -Tuning ingame resolution/quality settings changes absolutely nothing -Sometimes it jumps back to 60 for a few seconds (giving me hope, that it fixed itself), inbefore dropping back down. -It happened kinda out of nowhere I already updated my BIOS as well as my graphics drivers. If you have any other ideas (hopefully apart from reinstalling the entire OS ^^), please don't hesitate to shout it out! After having experienced smooth framerates for a few months now, I can't handle the low FPS!!1! (^^') Thanks in advance <3, Simon

Hello, I want to get a GTX 1080 for my computer. Trouble is I have no idea which one to get. I do want a reputable brand and I do value good build quality and am willing to invest more money if it means that the card will live longer. I've been looking a lot to the ASUS strix due to their clean black look. However even those have 3 variants dependant on binning. Is it worth to pay for a better binned card? And if so. Can I save a few bucks and maybe get a well binned 1070? Kind regards, Cliff

I'm noticing my new PC is not running games at nearly the percent they should be. I've been testing this in League of Legends and I may get 90 FPS at most with the CPU being around 25% and the GPU at 15%. Is a 1070 / 1070 Ti / 1080 worth buying in late 2017 or should I wait for something better that's just around the corner? I want to play some AAA games during the holidays (Live in Argentina), initially in 1080p but planning to buy a 1440p 165 Hz monitor later on.
