Hi guys, im currently thinking about upgrading my tech for the cs2 release. Current Setup: Intel Core i7 6700K 4x 4.00GHz Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero Intel Z170 8GB ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 AMP! Extreme 16GB (2x 8GB) G.Skill Trident Z silber/rot DDR4-3000 DIMM And csgo is currently running from a 500gb SSD. My first thoughts were an M2 SSD and maybe a new gpu, since cs2 is/will be more gpu sided. But I think that I could run into some serious bottleneck with the cpu and maybe even RAM. I‘m currently playin csgo at 1440p 16:9 and high settings on a 240hz monitor. I wanna continue that in cs2. Anyone got some good advice? Still hoping not to rebuild my whole PC fingers crossed and best regards from germany

Hello everyone, my system has 1070 as a main GPU and I would like to use also Tesla K80 for computing in photogrammetry. Basically I did all steps I could find online to get it up and running (enabling 4G decoding, having its own power supply, providing cooling for it), 2x K80s show up in device manager, but issues arrived with driver installation. Upon installing latest K80 driver, I am unable to get higher resolution than 1280x1024 as it seems to overwrite 1070 driver. Upon installing 1070 driver, resolution is fixed but K80s are no longer recognized in nvidia-smi. Is there a way to keep both drivers and not interfere with each other? Thanks

Hey there! I recently upgraded my GPU from a 1050ti to a 1070 amp edition by Zotac. My CPU is a i7-4770 (ancient I know) and im running 16 GB of RAM. I have a 650W psu which i think should be up to the job. First it all seemed well, games were running as expected and there were no issues to speak off. However, couple of days ago i started noticing very lacking performance in more demanding games (that i not often play) like PUBG. The graphics settings barely influenced the performance but turning OFF Vsync made the fps go to precisely 60fps on low enough settings... Weirdly the problem also occured in Assetto Corsa, which was running perfectly on the highest settings on my 1050ti. It feels like a mix of low fps and some kind of rubberbanding. I checked MSI afterburner and my cpu was only used like 30% which for me spoke against a cpu bottleneck. My gpu usage however is unusually high even in Assetto (roughly 80%). I then tried messing around with the pagefile, reinstalling the graphicsdriver, resetting the settings in Nvidea Control Panel and checked for any apps that might be hindering my performance but nothing came out of it all. Do you think im dealing with a CPU bottleneck or that there is another (perhaps hardware-related) issue. Thank you to anyone trying to help! Kind Regards, Jonas.

Hello everyone! I come to you in a time of great desperation. I am looking to upgrade my stationary for gaming performance, but i've hit a bit of an impasse. My current build is a rather basic MSI B350 motherboard (MS-7A34) with an AMD Ryzen 1700x processor, and a Gigabyte GTX 1070 4GB (Windforce). Also 16GBs of . This holds up alright, but i would like an upgrade for gaming purposes. Many recent games are able to push both my CPU and GPU quite hard, but between VR, a new QHD 144Hz monitor, and a desire to play with ray tracing, the 1070 is my biggest issue. With the current GPU prices and three years left of studying (and 2023 without my machine), i'd like an upgrade that lasts those remaining years, and i would like it before summer. I have an opportunity to buy a 3080 (10GB) for 1070 USD, or a 3070 for about 950 USD. This is about 118% of original price for both cards (Prices in Norway). This beats all retail prices i can find, and i'd love to upgrade to it. However, this leaves little budget for other upgrades, and i suspect the Ryzen 1700x would be bottlenecking a 3080 quite a bit. With a B350 motherboard, i could technically get a Ryzen 3800x without replacing other parts, and it's gotten quite affordable, but then my motherboard would probably bottleneck it... Short rant: I have heard that GPU prices were supposed to drop around these times, but i've seen little indication of this here so far. I also fear that next gen cards will see a price hike to match demand and growing consumer numbness to the mad prices). it would also be bottlenecked far more in my system anyways, and further upgrades will likely wait until 2024 for me. At some point i'll have to bite the bullet and just purchase a damn card, because i was planning to upgrade to the RTX30-series since it was announced, and the wait is getting ridiculous. My patience has worn plenty thin at this point, and i'd like the upgrade for summertime gaming :D. Full name of the card: RTX 3080 10GB PNY XLR8 Gaming REVEL EPIC-X TF Lhr I haven't heard of this producer before, but some quick searches seem to verify it being alright. TL;DR: I really want a new GPU before summer. Next gen doesn't seem relevant for me right now. I want it to remain somewhat competitive for about three years. i can buy a 3080 for 1070 USD (In Norway). This will likely be botlenecked by my Ryzen 1700x CPU. Any opinions on the value of this deal? Thanks for reading this essay on my life story and frustrations. Any reccomendations for upgrades is greatly appreaciated!

So im looking at the second-hand market for a gpu found an IGAME 1070 that has been used for 3 years the seller said that it has a missing screw (maybe it has been opened) but its only visible from the side the price is around the price of a second hand 1060/1650 super so its a really good deal but im concern if this missing screw is concerning or not here are some pics

So for context, a week ago I woke up to my 1070 being completely dead in the water (no fans on boot, no display, no detection). I tried it in multiple different computers, and the result was the same. I believe its something with the power management (as I could plug the fan shroud into another 1070 pcb and it would work just fine), but I do not know. Are there any places in Toronto that can potentially repair it? (I have no warranty as it was bought in 2016)

Is 370$US a good price for a used Asus GTX 1070 Turbo? I am currently upgrading my prebuilt pc's GPU. It has a 750Ti. Online I saw an auction for a used Asus 1070 Turbo for 340CHF (370$US) and it seemed like a good price, so I bought it. But is it actually a good price? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I recently upgraded my game storage device from HDD to M.2 SSD. I tried cloning over at first, which did not work at all. So I ended up doing a completely fresh install of windows, drivers, programs, etc. The problem I am having now is that whenever I attempt to play games downloaded on the M.2 or HDD my GPU instantly goes to 100% usage and will continually heat up (to even 90C+) without turning fans on past 50% usage. I also hear some coil whine coming from the GPU when this happens as well. The GPU I have is a HP reference style GTX 1070. I personally don't have an issue with the GPU being at 100%, I would just like to maybe learn how I can set the fans to match the utilization? I have already tried everything I can think of, including re-downloading all drivers, reformatting the SSD and HDD and nothing seems to work. I am also a little skeptical because even when I reduce settings to the minimum or play with VSYNC ON the card still runs at 100% usage. Also, I know my PC never struggled with games like Apex Legends or Age of Empires before the SSD upgrade. At this point I am wondering if this is windows issue, storage issue, or GPU dying. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Everyone, I am seeking an assistance on what should I do / what troubleshooting should I do in regards to my issue. When gaming, on cold start and launching a game, Board Power Draw / GPU Power is working fine 90W-120W / GPU Voltage 0.9V-1V But after few seconds (when GPU reaches 65c or experienced too much stress (too much load?)). The issue now starts... GPU Power is now capped on ONLY up to 50-52 Watts / GPU Voltage is also capped to only 0.8V I have tried reinstalling driver (clean reinstall using DDU) Overclocking memory and GPU Clock speed (GPU Clock/memory speed overclock are applied but GPU Voltage/GPU Power are still capped) Undervolting GPU (Same result) (I have tried ASUS GPU Tweak II, MSI Afterburner, ROG Gaming Center) Max Fan speeds NVCP Power management mode is set to Prefer Maximum performance Link State Power Management is already set to Off My CPU is already undervolted at -165mV (Temp reading never reaches beyond 80C) The temperature reading of CPU is between 65-70 degrees and GPU is between 63-68 degrees while I am experiencing this power throttling. Closing the game/benchmark and re-opening will not restart this capping, it will be like a permanent cap until a restart / turn off the laptop again. I have tried to lock voltage/frequency using Afterburner but it caps at the capped voltage 0.8V, it won't go beyond that (i.e locking voltage 0.9-1V) The laptop has been recently cleaned (reapplied thermal paste) Temperature Limit: 91c Max 54c Minimum ASUS ROG G752VS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB GDDR5 Intel Core i7 6th Gen 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory Single channle DDR4 500gb Kingston NVME SSD M.2 Power Limit screenshot

I'm looking for a you upgrade to my recent PC build. Specs Ryzen 3 3300x Rx 570 4gb Cx500 The rest don't really matter I'm looking for a gpu upgrade, yeah I know in this market gpu are insanely overpriced. But I'm either gonna buy a gtx 1070, 1070 ti, or 1080 and maybe a rtx card if I can get one under 500$. My budget is basically 500 with tax and shit not included. So which one is the best choice.

Hey guys stuck in a pickle. I live in the US so been dealing with the tariffs, and I want your guys opinion on wether or not buy a 3060 at a price of $899 USD before my state tax. I’m a huge Halo fan and after seeing some peoples results with older graphics cards and with the LTT video yesterday I don’t know how my 1070 from PNY would handle the game. Hang help would be appreciated.

Hi, my computer once just hanged itself while working, no bsod, just hanged, i restarted my pc and cpu light blinked on gigabyte mobo's ez debug lights and then turned off after 0.5secs. and then nothing happened. no lights no boot no post. i removed my gpu and the computer booted on intel hd graphics. i examined the gpu and saw a burnt chip. idk what it is but i think its mosfet. the exact one i have marked. anyway i went to a repair shop and he quoted me 120$ for repair. i couldnt possibly give him 120$ for a chip replacement on a gpu that i bought for 180$. i took the gpu to one of my friend's and he told me it is just a switch and if you remove it might turn off one of your display output port(which i doubted) and he used heatgun and did a thrifty job on removing the chip. i plugged the gpu and it working fine. did a stress test and it is working fine. i want to ask what are the drawbacks of running gpu as it is without repairing it because i barely have money to repair and cannot afford a new one.. any heads up will be appreciated! <3

Hi, I'm new to this forum. EVGA GTX1070 ICX SC2 + 8700K here. I have had this configuration for some years now and it has been working perfectly. No complaints whatsoever. The last thing I changed in the PC was replacing the old 840Pro with a 970Evo. That was roughly 6 months ago, and the computer was working flawlessly since, as it was working flawlessly before. Until yesterday. While playing Cities Skylines, I went to the bathroom. When I returned I found the computer reset, with Windows login screen. Hm. I logged in, started the game again. After 10 or 15 minutes of play, the computer simply resets itself, as if there was a short power outage. No warning, no BSODs, nothing. I checked event logs - nothing of significance there. It just says the computer shut down unexpectedly. Then I tried another game: Metro Exodus. The same story: works perfectly and after some minutes - restart. But then there was something else: the computer restarted immediately after I typed my Windows password and startup programs were still loading up! Yikes! After several attempts, I managed to reach the desktop. Experimentally, I didn't start any game and just casually browsed. Nothing happened. Then I started several CPU and GPU stress-tests. Nothing. When I CLOSED the Furmark test - it reset again! Desperate (I use the PC for work too!) I removed the 1070 and connected the monitor to the onboard Intel video. No restarts. This morning I tore the PC apart, dusted it off, reseat every card and connector, returned the 1070, started the PC and started a game. Half an hour in - it works great. I thought I solved it. And then - restart! Please help. Any suggestion is welcome.

Hi fellow OC enthusiasts, I am currently fiddling around with overclocking my hardware for the first time, so I am a bit of a newbie. I generally tend to inform myself as much as possible and I am quite careful so I don't take unnecessary risks. However, now I apparently have run into something where I can't find an answer that I understand. Software I use: MSI Afterburner CPU-Z GPU-Z Valley Benchmark HWInfo64 I have OC'd both my CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 1600x) and my GPU (Gainward GTX 1070) and I'm also running a Memory Try It! preset for my RAM. For more information regarding my specs, please see my signature. If you need more info regarding my overclocks, please let me know. My CPU is running at a stable 3900 MHz with a voltage of 1.375, tested with Ryzen Master and made permanent through my BIOS. My GPU has so far been running at a stable +130 MHz Core Clock and +620 MHz Memory Clock. Now I was curious about what else I can do if I adjust the GPU voltage. From what I have read there is a hard limit set by Nvidia, but there still seems to be some potential that I could use. I've found a guide that recommended to first set a fix voltage. I can post a link if that's okay, but basically what he says is I have locked my GPU to a constant voltage of 1000 mV (which is lower than what it would usually reach). I have then set Temp and Power limits to their max values (92c and 112%). When increasing the memory clock to 650 MHz I am beginning to see "stars" when running Valley, so I am sticking to 620 MHz. However, I can boost the core clock far higher than before it seems. Temps stick to a maximum of 79c even with +160 MHz core clock, however Valley benchmark scores don't improve beyond the margin of error. At a +140 MHz I had a Min FPS of 33 instead of the normal 22, so I assume that this is a core clock at which games perform a little more stable, I am yet to test in an actual game though. Any other boost has given me 22 Min FPS again. I haven't tested higher boosts yet as I am unsure if they currently have any effect at all and if they might cause issues when unlocking the voltage again. What made me curious is the fact that despite a higher core clock there seems to be no improvement in performance, no increase in temperature and what makes me wonder the most is that GPU-Z now only shows "Idle" as the PerfCap Reason when it had shown "Pwr" and/or "vRel" before. If it would show these reasons again that'd make sense to me, but "Idle"?. This makes me think that locking my GPU voltage had no effect or at least doesn't let the GPU reach a higher level of performance now. Since the whole voltage-thing still is quite blurry to me anyway, I am now looking for advice. Again, I wasn't able to find anything that I actually understand when doing my research. There seems to be people benefiting from undervolting as it decreases the temps and therefore lets the core boost to a higher clock, then again overvolting seems to be better for others as it increases the amount of power the core can draw in oder to boost its frequencies. But what would I have to do to find the sweet spot for my GPU? I am not afraid to test a few things out, I just don't know where or how to start. Thanks for your time.

Hey guys, I own a inno3d iChill GTX 1070 Hercules X3. And because I am a little obsessed with my system being the best it possibly can be, I regularily check the thermals. I have noticed that the GPU temps average climbed over the last year. So what i want to do is pretty simple: slap some new paste and pads on there. My problem now is that I habe no clue what thermal pad thickness is used. I found a picture of an opened card here, thats the TI version but should be the same, as it is the same physical size of chip etc. What thickness would you say this is? inno3d´s Tech Support did not answer me for a month at least. I need my PC daily, I can not just open it, look what thickness it is and then order these, so my solution until now was order everything and take the one needed in the process, but that would be a bit of a waste of money. If someone has any clue on the thermal pad thickness, any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Jay

I have noticed that the temps on my GTX 1070 Katana were hovering around the 85 degree mark in Doom 2016 and wanted to re-paste my card to maybe lower temps or make the fans a little quieter. I went to take the card apart and felt like I gonna break something trying to separate the vapor chamber from the GPU. Is it normal to have to use a lot of force? Is it possible that the person I bought the card from used some sort of thermal adhesive? He was gonna use the card to mine bitcoin but decided not to, if that helps you with anything... Any insights are appreciated!

Alright so here is my problem or rather my question if I have a problem. I've been having annoying fan noises when gaming. I assumed it was my stock ryzen cooler but I found out that it's my GTX 1070 Mini. So I went on to check my temps with MSI Afterburner and create a costum fan curve. Here is what I'm having trouble with: Without my custom fan curve, the card runs at around 75% fan speed at 82/83°C while gaming. Manually truning the speed to 100% doesn't cool the card down any more. Yet turning the fan speed down to 50% doesn't make it hotter either but a lot quietter (Haven't tried going down further yet). Now some will probably say, that even though it doesn't get hotter it will thermal throttle. If so, I can't feel it in game. When idleing temps are around 54°C at 25% fan speed, it does actually go down to 45°C at 100% fan speed, but who would want that noise level. So my question is, am I damaging my card when letting it run at 83°C under load and 54°C on idle? Honostly I wouldn't know what to change, but load temps seemed high to me, so I thought I'd ask. System: GTX 1070 Mini 8GB Ryzen 5 3600 (with stock cooler as said) 32GB (2x 16384MB) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2666 DIMM CL16-18-18-35 1Tb Samsung 970 Evo M.2 Gigabyte Aorus Pro WIFI AMD B450 Mini ITX

Hi, I was thinking of exchanging my 1070 for an RTX 2070 Super from EVGA. In some games my GPU is 99%, I believe it is a bottleneck. I wonder if the gain is considered to be worth the purchase. My monitor is 60hz full hd, but I intend to buy a 144hz one in the future. Is it worth swapping or it's better to wait a 3070 price drop? Thank you! Weird EVGA card from Amazon - serial number not found???
Mark Kaine posted a topic in Graphics Cards
So I just got the 1070 FTW2 I ordered from Amazon... Which I tbh didn't have a great feeling about from the get go because it was *really* cheap (300 Euros) which of you look you will not find another similar priced 1070 *new* in Germany. So anyway I already found out there were some issues with these cards and missing vrm cooling pads, so I went to the EVGA site and Also there's this on the package, it does show the same SN, however it's been tinkered with, ie someone just crossed some numbers out, but *not* the actual serial number... So any idea what's going on, did Amazon scam me or what? This is directly sold from Amazon Germany btw. I wouldn't be as concerned if the EVGA site would find the serial number, which it doesn't, so it looks at least super suspicious?? -
Before I start, I know this issue was brought up dozens of times but none of the fixes worked for me and the posts are fairly old. Setup: AMD Ryzen 5 1600, MSI B350 PC Mate, MSI 1070ti (OC), 2x 8gb Corsair Vengeance OC 3000Mhz Monitors: BenQ 24" LED - RL2455 (@60Hz) HDMI, Samsung C27HG70 (@144hz) DP, btw. the samsung monitor is honestly the worst expierience I've ever had with a monitor the stand is so big that it takes up half of the desks depth and HDR is awful in windows. Running latest Nvidia Drivers and Windows Issue: Whenever content is displayed on the 60Hz display, the 144hz gets "throttled" to 60hz. This doesn't happen while I'm in fullscreen on my main monitor but always tabbing out is so annoying and not a fix for me. Troubleshooting list: Disabling Hardware Acceleration in Chrome and Opera Scaling to GPU Setting second Display to a dividable number of 144Hz (72Hz) Setting main Display to a multiple of 60Hz (120Hz) Using a different browser than chrome Using Nvidia Inspector and turn on Multi Monitor performance mode I'd be so thankful if someone can help me out
