I hope someone can help me. I am looking for a software that can validate the stability of my NVidia 1050. If you want all the details please read below: On summer I got my new PC. The specs are intel i7 6800K, MSI X99A SLI Plus, G.Skill 32GB DDR4-2400Mhz. Please note, I have Turbo Boost disabled and I do not overclock anything. Standard stock speeds to everything. I installed Windows 10 and it was working great. Originally I was using that hardware with a very old Nvidia 250GTS. So about 2 weeks ago, I decided to go 4K, so I got rid off of my 2K Dell 27inch monitor, and got instead a 40inch Samsung UE40MU6402. Great TV, supports 4k uncompressed and very cheap too. So the Nvidia 250GTS doesn't support 4K, so I replaced it with an MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Aero ITX 2G OC 2GB. I connect the TV with the 1050 with a HDMI 2.0 cable (2metres cable). So it's working good BUT I then started noticing some weird performance. Sometimes the computer freezes. The mouse freezes, nothing is moving, keyboard freezes, and even the reset switch on the PC case doesn't work!! So my first thought was it could be the memory. So I ran MemTest 86+ for more than 8 hours. It managed to do 3 full passes with no errors at all. After a week of having these random freezes, I then noticed that some random times (without freezes) some pixels on the screen that supposed to be black, were going black white. Some really random pixels, they were almost like flashing. That was when I got the idea that it could be something wrong with my 1050. So I turned off the computer, opened the Tower case, and noticed that my 1050 wasn't pushed all the way in the PCI-E slot. I thought "that was definitely the problem", but no.... it didn't stopped the PC from freezing. So I updated to the latest drivers. Nope, still freezing. So I reopened the case completely the removed the 1050, and reinstalled it firmly. Nope, still getting freeze at random times. So 3 questions here: 1) Could the GFX card gone bad because I had it for more than 2 weeks not inserted correctly? 2) Is there any software I could test the card for stability like the MemTest 86+ is for memory? 3) is there anything else you could advise me? Sorry for the long post. Thank you so much for reading.

Hello, I am on my way to completing my plan to upgrade my setup, and I have everything from Hardware to Aesthetics. However, I am having trouble in finding a GPU that goes well with my CPU (The Sandy-Bridge Core i3 2120). Everything else in my setup hasn't been bought yet and I have a budget of around $400 to upgrade/have a setup (PC, Monitor, Decals, Peripherals, etc.). I have done a bit of research and came with these options, I just need help with choosing/finding a GPU: I have narrowed down to these options, feel free to add or give me suggestions/what to use: GTX 1050Ti (with a bit of bottleneck) RX 560 (with a bit of bottleneck) GTX 1050 RX 550 GTX 750Ti My PC (currently has): i3 2120 4GB DDR3 500GB 7200RPM Integrated HD 2000 No Wi-Fi Module The Case and PSU came with the PC (it's a pre-built), and I'm planning on taking the PSU and using that in the new case, with the RAM and GPU being the only hardware upgrade (maybe Windows 10), hence why I have no side panel Here's my plan so far (mainly just looking for a GPU): Computer Upgrades.pdf

Which pairing would make more sense? Assuming I would ONLY play games on my computer with Discord and maybe a few chrome tabs open and running a 1080p 75Hz IPS monitor? I don’t care for ultra graphics, so would the 1060 be worth it for me? Really, I have been playing on low settings all my life and have NO problem with the guality whatsoever. Games I play most: Rainbow Six Siege Battlefield 1 Rust PUBG CSGO Oh BTW i3-8100 + 1060 pairing costs exactly €55,- more!

intro: I had a x79 motherboard from china with a Xeon E5-2670 V2 but wanted higher clock speeds, so bought a second hand MSI X79A-GD45 (8D) with I7-3930K. I didn't want to reinstall all software so I swapped the mb and cpu on the same SSD and OS, not expecting it to work, but it sort of did... the problem: When I start the computer it freezes on a screen with B2 on it. After about 2 minutes the screen goes black for another minute and then, suddenly, Windows starts... From then on it almost works like it should, but some software seems not to work properly and my CPU fan runs at 100% all the time. It just seems like the mb is not booting at all, but just starting up(if that's possible) what i have tried: Installing new driver and utility for graphics card(1050 TI 4G OC) update mb driver update windows swapping graphics card into other PCI-E slots using the multi BIOS switch on the mb having OC Genie on and off entering BIOS, but when entered, it freezes too. At this point I am willing to do a clean reinstall of windows, but I feel like this won't solve the issues.

So I got this lenovo pc an year ago the guy put in a gtx 750ti and put an ssd in for me but I'm looking to upgrade to a gtx 1050ti so my pc specs are i5-6400 8gb ddr4 gtx 750ti 2gb 250W psu I made a thread asking how much W my psu is and about 5 people responded 250 and I then saw it there (didn't see it at 1st,the psu is top left corner btw) so we started a discussion about it and I was told to upgrade my psu 1st so I looked at psus for around 5 hours that day (with pauses for school at other stuff) but I spent a lot of time sorting it out Next day a guy comes and tells me the psu isn't changeable without me changing the motherboard aswell I cant afford to get a new motherboard ,psu, gpu and then look for someone to put them in cause I know nothing about pcs So my question is can the 1050ti SC run with this pc on an year old 250W psu or I should keep this and probably never upgrade cause I cba with getting a new pc To be honest I was looking to just get the 1050ti without any other upgrades cause I don't have much saved up anyway (I just turned 16)

Hello, I'm looking at upgrading my pc to AM4 and this will include a new GPU as a r7 370 isnt going to hack it. I'm between the 1050ti and the 1060 however I'm only 16 so don't have a bottomless amount of money. The 1050 ti is more wallet friendly with an EVGA SSC being my first thought, this was altered though by seeing the benchmark increase compared to the 1060 however, this is more money and I'll probably only be able to afford a 3GB model (thanks miners). I'll only be using 1080p and so can't decide on whether to go with the cheaper option with more VRAM (4GB) or save up more and go for the more powerful but less VRAM 1060. Please give me you opinions and advice. Thank You

Linus Sebastian inspired me to do scrapyard wars. So I got this Intel Core i3 530 PC for free from my mother's office. It comes with 8GB of RAM and a Nvidia GT210 GPU. After a month I managed to save $130 and bought myself an Asus Phoenix GTX 1050 GPU. Now I'm able to play my favorite games such as Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012, Need For Speed Rivals, Titanic Honor and Glory and Assetto Corsa over 60 FPS, ultra settings with 100% GPU usage at 1366x768p resolution. The problem is there are such games like GTA V, GTA IV, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Simulator that yield to 50% or less GPU usage resulting to unplayable gameplay below 30 FPS. I suspect this is a CPU bottleneck. I plan to upgrade my Intel Core i3 530 to something newer that is available for free in the office, an Intel Core i3 4170 PC. Is it worth the upgrade? Will the newer CPU alleviate or put an end to the bottleneck? I need your comments, replies and suggestions from the Linus Tech Tips community. Thank you very much to all in advance!

So I bought a msi GTX 1050 (non ti) LP 2GB card and I never really used it. Its out of the return date and I want to sell it. The problem is, I'm not really sure what to ask for it. I've checked prices on eBay and they all seem a little high to me (around $140 USD) so what should my asking price be? its barely been used and I have the box and all the parts that came with it. (I paid $109 for it btw I think it might have been on sale when I bought it.)

My friend recently picked up a gtx 1050 to put into his older system that he got on Kijiji for cheap. It has an Intel core 2 quad q8400, and 6gb of ddr2. For some reason he's running CS:GO at 40fps. I'm thinking there's a CPU bottleneck. Do you guys think that the CPU or the RAM are bottlenecking the 1050? Or could it be something else like the PCIe bus on an lga 775 motherboard just not being fast enough to keep up with that card?

Hi. I am building my grandpa his first PC (he always uses macs) and I was wondering what graphics card to put in it. I go to his house a lot and his machine can barely run Minecraft, so I figured he needed an upgrade. While I doubt he is doing any gaming, he watches movies frequently on his computer and is a doctor so he needs to view very high quality images and has two monitors, so I figured he may need an upgrade from the Intel Graphics. I was going to put a 1050ti in it, but that is too expensive for his budget so I was thinking about a 1030? 1030s are a lot cheaper than any 1050 (950, 750, etc) and jhas about the same specs as a 1050, but does he need a GPU at all? If so, what is a super cheap but good GPU? Thanks! https://pcpartpicker.com/user/JdogBaconMan/saved/BQmHxr

first things first: I bought a Dell optiplex off an ebay refurbisher and I got played. The image showed an optiplex 7010 wich should have a 3rd generation i5 (and USB 3) however what I got is an optiplex 790: 2nd gen i5 and no USB 3 I was planning to put a gtx 1050 ti lp. But that would cover both pci slots not allowing me to install a USB 3 card. Conclusion: is there anyway to mod the gtx 1050 ti low profile into a single slot card so I can install it along with a USB 3 card?

I have a GTX1050Ti in my inventory that was given to me from a friend. I currently have a 960, so I want to use it to upgrade. However, there's one big problem: The card was previously short circuited. They brought it back to their seller and got a new card since they had warranty, and gave up the "broken" one to mine, so I'm hoping anyone in the community knows a way to fix a short circuited card. It'll SOMETIMES work and give output, but most of the time there's no signal from the card. Fans will spin though. I'm thinking it's the outputs that's been broken. And yes, I've tried all the sockets. Details on how it happened: My buddy plugged in his Nintendo Switch OUTPUT cable (the cable you'd plug into your TV) into the HDMI INPUT of the card. I'm assuming the two signals mixed and went kerplowey?

Hi Everyone, I recently bought a Dell XPS 15 9560 with a beautiful 4K screen, intel 630 graphics and a GTX 1050 GPU. It's generally working well, though I noticed in MSI Afterburner yesterday that the GTX 1050 seems to be turning on an off at roughly 1 second intervals even when its not being used by any programs according to the NVidia Control Panel. With NVidia Inspector I was able to see that it's only cycling between 0% and 1% load repeatedly, but it just strikes me as odd that it would do so even when I'm only looking at the desktop, where the Intel HD 630 should be doing all the work and the GTX 1050 should be entirely disabled. Is this normal? Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can disable the GPU completely when it's not being used by a program that really needs it? I am not particularly concerned about degrading my hardware since it's only being used a very small amount, but it seems like it might adversely affect my battery life, which is sort of annoying. Any advice or ideas you have would be greatly appreciated .
