I just reinstall Windows 10 so I need to install some apps on it. But when I open the installer it said cfgmgr32.dll is missing in C:\.... but when I go check whether the file is there, it still there. I try to find solution but they are mostly windows 7 or not helping. Already tried to run sfc /scannow but it can't fix the file. Also, I tried to replace the file with file I get on the internet but windows won't let me do it.

I had update 1803 mess up my os first time around because it kept reverting to my restore point in the last stages of installation after a restart. But now since they've re-rolled the update out I'm having the same problem... Could this be a mobo firmware issue? Or is the update still just trash? I'm running 3570k on z77a-g45

I used Now, I'm the only person that lives in my flat so i've used netplwiz to turn off the need to type in my password every time i turn on or restart the PC However, since I've changed the name of the PC I get a wrong password error when it hits the log on screen and like a 'Ghost' account (same name just generic pic) sitting there waiting to be logged into? Any ideas?

Programs suddenly uninstalled from SSD (Windows 10)
A-Furry-Peanut posted a topic in Storage Devices
I was backing up the files on my E:/ HDD (onto my external H:/ HDD) last night and set my computer to shut down once completed, and this morning all of the programs oh my D:/ SSD have been uninstalled. The ssd that I install my programs on still have their folders but they all seem to be empty. I checked Disk Management and it shows that there are 409 MB of used space and 238 GB of free space so it does seem that all my programs have been uninstalled. I have also tried opening my programs but I just get a notification: "This item "program name" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?" The only thing that I can think of that may have caused this was a couple days ago I was moving my ssd's around in my computer so I had to unplug them first (my computer/psu was off), could doing so have wiped my ssd? -

Since then I can not install any Nvidia drivers , the only one that works is the standard driver that comes with windows. I then tried several times to reinstall Windows but no success... Then I installed windows 8.1 and was able to install the driver without problems. What can i do ? i am out of ideas... My System : i7 3770k gtx 1050 ti 16gb ram thanks in advance Herr Scharfi.

I've tried everything that Google can give me...Different Asus driver versions, Broadcom driver, reinstallingWindows one more time. But nothing....Is there any chance to fix it or where I can get older Windows builds? I want Windows 7 times back or even 8.1 .... When will Microsoft get their sh** together?...... For more than a year now I've had a problem with my Motherboard were it doesn't save any settings I change in the BIOS. Battery change has been made just 10 mins ago but with no success of sovling it. This prevents me of course from configuring my PC right, for example everytime I power on my PC i have to load Windows 10 via my SSD boot drice in the bios just to enter my PC. This is obviously very annoying and I really want a to find a fix for it, anyone have experince in this? Much appreciated Specs: Gigabyte GTX 1050TI I5-4460 3.20Ghz 500GB SSD Samsung 1TB Seagate ASUS z97-E 8GB DDR3 RAM

Ok, so I have been having an issue with Windows update (big surprise, I know) for the entire month of October. So, after the whole debacle with data deletion and what have you, I'm seeing an influx of posts around the web of people running the 1809 update, but mine keeps refusing to install! It shows up, it "downloads", it restarts my pc and then just says a restart is required. Then I looked at the update history, and it is just a string of "failed to install" messages (picture posted below). So, after literally spending ACTUAL HOURS trying to find someone with this issue, I simply cannot. It took quite a while to even figure out that error code 0xc19001e1 means "MOSETUP_E_PROCESS_SUSPENDED, or The installation process was suspended. (Link to where I found this https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/windows-itpro-docs/blob/master/windows/deployment/upgrade/resolution-procedures.md) Does anyone know what is causing this? Any help would be appreciated, as I am currently pulling my hair out between this and several other projects... THINGS I'VE TRIED Installing windows from boot media (Downloaded from MS website) Disabling Malwarebytes Disabling antivirus Updating drivers Sfc scan command Playing with insider preview settings Probably other things I can't remember.

uninstaller Best free uninstaller for Win10?
M A J O R posted a topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
As title says, I'm looking for an uninstaller that gets rid of all the lingering files that don't get removed when you use the OS uninstaller. I've had a bit of a look around but I've often been given bad suggestions from sites like TechRadar when it comes to "best software". EDIT: Looking for a software uninstaller Cheers for any suggestions. -
So I know there have been rumors/confirmations(?) that a 20 GB VRAM SKU for the 3080 exists but am trying to understand something. As far as I am aware (could be wrong), games aren't using even 10 GB VRAM (isn't it around 6?), so why would NVIDIA make a 20 GB version? Is it just for the "big numbers" to lure people in? Is there actual reason to wait for a 20 GB card vs trying to get one's hands on the 10 GB cards that are almost impossible to get now anyway? I didn't think that having more VRAM (past what you need) improved performance or offered anything extra in terms of gaming. Has this changed? Or is it just for people who hold onto cards for a few years and maybe in that time there will be need for VRAM past 10 GB? I for one am looking to upgrade before I head back to school and won't be able to upgrade again for a while after this. In this case, is waiting for a 20 GB 3080 the smarter choice vs trying to get a 10 GB one now? I seem to remember a Gigabyte (I think it was them) leak where something was said that maybe the 20 GB VRAM cards could be clocked higher? I'm not sure so correct me if I'm wrong. I would assume that if a 20 GB card would come, it'd be in a year from now, so is it worth waiting? Thoughts?

I'm going to help one of my friends reinstall windows on her PC before she moves for college and intend to walk her through the process of installing it from a thumbdrive. However, the windows installer exe from microsoft is for 2004, and her computer says 2004 will be coming soon to her device but is not yet supported. Will this be problematic? I didn't see an option to select an older version of windows 10.

Hello! Some time ago, I used a bad software to resize my partition and windows got corrupted. No biggie, I pulled valuable data from the SSD and proceeded to install new OS. After choosing language and that kind of stuff, the PC shut down after some time and gave me some options. I tried all of them, but none worked, so I loaded a Flash Drive with Dban and wiped the SSD. Thinking this would help, I started installing windows, but it did the same thing. I have no idea how to fix this, if you have any thoughts, please let me know. Thanks for reading!

Hello. In my PC I have 2 HDD's (one for storage and one for old windows) and one SSD. I installed windows 10 on my SSD while keeping my old HDD intact with windows 8.1 to transfer the files I needed (I knew it was a bad choice even back then but decided to try it). While I had no problems in the beginning (set SSD priority 1 on BIOS etc), I changed my case a while after and the problems started. First the boot manager appeared and asked me if I wanted to boot from Windows 8.1 or windows 10. Then I checked the BIOS, and the one I use for storage was used as boot option 1 for some reason. Nevertheless, windows 10 booted normally. But the boot manager kept bugging me. So after some search I decided to set my 2 HDDs as inactive from CMD. Bad call. My PC wouldn't boot at all with the message "No operating system found....press ctrl alt del to restart" at the BIOS. Strange thing is that even after I removed both my HDDs and left only the SSD, my PC wouldnt boot again. Anyway I managed to reboot by bootable usb with windows -> cmd-> set 2 HDDs active again. My question now is, can I make my SSD the only bootable device and turn my old HDD to storage only, without losing any files in the process? And if that's not possible, what is the next best thing that I can do? Thank you.

Hi So Windows 10 is now forcing itself on to my grandparents computer. They got a window asking for a time to install the "upgrade" and there is no way to cancel this "upgrade" or anything. Just intall now or install later... I have searched high and low, because 1) I was sure that the free "window" to upgrade from W7 to 10 was closed long ago 2) I've never heard of w10 just intalling without asking for permission. I've also seached for people talking about microsoft forcing people to upgrade these days but found nothing... Why is it only this computer, they want to have W10? So in short: How do I cancel this upgrade? My grandparents are old and shouldn't be bothered learning a new OS.

Hello everyone, I have this small problem where my controller won't connect to my Windows 10 PC via bluetooth (version 1803) First it did connect but wouldn't work very well, it was really delayed or sometimes wouldn't do anything and then it would just disconnect by itself when I tried using it in Rocket League. With a micro USB cable it works fine though. I downloaded the Xbox accessories app from Microsoft store and I have the newest firmware. Also I looked online if my motherboard had any new driver updates for bluetooth, but it didn't have any for Skylake, but it did have one for Kabylake (see picture below), should I give that a try or no? (the motherboard is taken from Asus G11CD) Oh and first when it did work, I had to be really close to the PC to get the controller do something (it was really laggy and delayed then also), and when I went a little farther away from the PC it would disconnect right away. I think once the PC did connect to the controller when I was farther away, but then would disconnect again. Just want to point out that the controller works with my phone via bluetooth, so I don't think that the controller is the problem. **UPDATE** I got the controller working (at least for now) by playing around with the controller and bluetooth drivers, but now it only works when the controller is almost touching the PC **UPDATE 2** Okay after some research, it appears that other people has/had this short range problem and it might just be a trick to get people buy the USB adatper Thank you

So I was messing about with the sound settings and I randomly found this 'Spatial sound' feature when I right-clicked my volume bar in my taskbar. Looking further into it, I see Windows Sonic for Headphones and also Dolby Atmos. Immediately I thought to try it out since I was bored and had the itching for better audio, so I enabled it. Prior to switching Windows Sonic on, I Google'd it real quick and found out that instead of using 2 channels for audio (left and right), Windows Sonic artifically seperates channels to rear left, front right etc, so I find that pretty cool at least on paper. I tried playing CSGO just now - a sound-cue heavy FPS shooter ripe for this type of situation. After about ten minutes, I feel like this is all a placebo effect, because I don't hear that much change... Has anyone else used Windows Sonic and can clarify exactly what it does and how much impact it actually has?

Hello, I need your help. My laptop doesn't use its CPU to full extent anymore as it used to. When I start Cinebench R15 - all core test, my Taskmanager only shows CPU usage of 88% and a clock of 1,58GHz. That gives me around 320cb points. Earlier, a few weeks (or months) ago it all ran well with 100% usage, higher clocks and a score of 420. Also when i check the CPU usage with Intels Extreme Tuning Utility, it shows me 100% usage. The CPU never throttles and all power settings in Windows 10 i know of are set to max performance. The laptop is a Lenovo Yoga 520 with Intel Core i5 8250U and 8GB DDR4. A screenshot with all relevant windows open is attached. Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance!

Post shows my asus logo ten couple seconds later shuts off then restarts again. Over and over.
