Hello, next year at my school they are introducing a program that allows us to bring our own device to school the only real specification it needs to meet is that it supports WPA2/Enterprise and the battery lasts the day, I have decided to get a laptop but I have to pay for it, im looking to spend $1000 but i could probably push it to $1200 or $1300 if im really lucky. I have looked at the lenovo y50 but the battery doesnt sound all that hot. What I would like in the laptop is a decent keyboard which is good for gaming and typing, an adequate touchpad, in case I leave my wireless mouse at home or it runs out of battery, dedicated graphics, maybe a touchscreen and a good battery, at least 6 hours. Thankyou, also I would like it to be able to play games on medium to high settings P.S I live in Australia so keep in mind the exchange rate and if I can get it from an Australian retailer even better, I won't have to get a power adapter

I'm looking to make my first PC gaming rig, I live in the US and am a causal gamer. I have about $2000 to spend on this, but I want to keep the system a little cheaper because of paraphernalia (monitor, shield, controllers). I'm wondering if it's a good idea to start with a decent/cheaper system but get a really powerful GPU (gtx 980ish) and then upgrade the rest of the system as I get the money for it. So after a long time, I have manager to create the $1000 gaming PC that I want to build fairly soon. I believe that this has everything that I want (listed below) and that it is below the $1000 limit. However, I want other people to check it over to ensure that everything is in order, and that I cannot get it any better. Thanks! Alright ladies and gents, do your best to find the most appropriate laptop to meet the following criteria. Budget is AROUND $1000 (give or take $300 I guess) - Ultraportable - i5 - 1080p display - power, head and microphone jack with 1-2 usb ports will be suffice - 4gb ram - wouldn't mind a backlit keyboard, but not a necessity - decent trackpad; something similar to the MB (don't know if thats possible) - Windows OS - discrete graphics card preferred - wireless card - around a 500 gb hdd (or ssd) - good battery life (at least 4 hours with word, chrome and itunes open for instance) *Note: This is not a desktop replacement, it is used primarily for university work and as a portable alternative to my gaming rig. (mainly small indie games, or league, you know, games to fill the boredom). If you have any additions or subtractions you believe I should make, feel free to voice them and I will more than likely adjust my criteria with what you think may be best for me. What I need/want: 1. Tower with stuff inside 2. 5.25in Mounting bracket for 3.5in sd card reader I already have. 3. SSD boot drive is a must. 4. Keyboard/Mouse. 5. Monitor at least 23" 6. Capability to run games quite adequately at high settings for at least 2 years. (Mainly Minecraft but future games as well. Will be used to edit videos (HD but not heavy editing). Note: This build is for my uncle who doesn't really play games. It's his two sons who are in Middle School. Videos games are second to smoothness of moment to moment operation. 7. I need a new PC since my current laptop is dying and i would rather get a desktop instead of a laptop. Im not the best when it comes to parts either really since i am normally only building PC's not picking it out. All i want this PC for is gaming and some video editing and photo editing as well as school work. the 1,000 budget is for everything except the graphics card since I am going to get a gtx 770 within the next month or so and i already have a 1080p monitor as well a KB+M this also excludes operating system. I would prefer intel over amd but i guess i can be convinced if needed. My main game focus on this system would be Battlefield 4, Planetside 2, League of Legends, as well as Elder Scrolls Online And Tera. also i don't mind stock cooler for the cpu as i will probably get a better cooler later and overclock the cpu then so main focus would be on processor, motherboard, ram, power supply, case, and hard drive but i do have a 500GB drive here so its optional. i would like to have some expandability on the PC itself so if i ever feel like adding some sort of capture card and such but i don't plan on crossfire or sli. Hey, I am a student and only have this old netbook, I want to build a gaming system. So read the things below before recommending and explain why you chose those parts. Budget & Location: My budget is $1000 and I live in Belgium, store doesn't really mater I can find them here. Aim: Mostly gaming (Minecraft, LoL, Bioshock infinite, Borderlands 2, Watch Dogs,...), and then webbrowsing and SolidWorks (if it can stream games on twitch that would be nice too). Peripherals: I need everything: mouse, keyboard and monitor. The mouse and keyboard don't need to be specially made for gaming. The monitor I would want is a 24" IPS panel. I have windows so that's OK. And SSD? should I go with a 120GB SSD or spend the money elsewhere? Thanks in advance. Arikuzo

So I have a mid-range ($1000) editing and gaming PC that I am planning to upgrade. 1. Budget & Location I don't want to spend too much money on the upgrade preferably not spending more than 750 dollars total. Oh BTW I live in Alberta, Canada, so don't worry about the currency conversions, I'm also buying all the upgrades from Canadian retailers too so I don't have to pay for the stupid high duty tax. 2. Aim The point of this upgrade is to have a better editing and gaming rig so I can be more productive at making videos for my gaming channel, Brocanadians http://www.youtube.com/user/Brocanadians. The programs I use is Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, Photoshop CS6, Dxtroy, Audacity and soon to be After effects CS6 and Maya 2013. Plus I might be adding more programs into the mix so I also want this upgrade to be future-proof for the next 2 to 3 years or something like that. 3. Monitors I want to upgrade my monitors to at least dual 23 inch 1920 by 1080 IPS monitor, preferably with thin bezels so I could be less distracted from the huge gap between the two screens. I also could be thinking about buying a large 4K monitor when it comes out later on when they become cheaper like 400 dollars or something like that. 4. Peripherals I don't need any more peripherals because I already have a really nice mechanical keyboard, mice, Mic, headphones, etc. 5. Why are you upgrading? This kinda the same as point 2 but the why I'm upgrading is because I'm doing more and more advance VFX on my videos and soon be using Maya 2013 which is a high end 3D program that is being used by every studios that makes blockbuster movies. I also want my system to be at least presentable on the WAN show build log, so I want to point that out too. I also try using Maya and After effects a bit on my computer and my CPU and motherboard is still handling it fine. The problem I think is that because I use a lot of CUDA enable programs, I think my video card is slowing all of my process down. So for sure I need a new video card, it just what kind? I also really want an audio card because the setup I'm using right now is audio that is being slightly amplified thought my mic. However I have studio grade headphones and I want to use their full potential as studio grade headphones not just to listen by myself without caring for sound. Other then that there is nothing I need to upgrade. Maybe making my rig look more presentable, because I want to show my rig off not only in the forum but also in the WAN show Builds of the Week. Here is my rig so far. Sorry for the noise, I had to use my Galaxy Note 2 Camera which isn't the best camera and my flashlight which kinda makes it worst because it a 100 Lumens Cree LED flashlight.

I live in the USA, so USD Currency. I have a $1000 build budget built for mostly Gaming and surfing the internet. I intend to use one monitor at 1080p resolutions. The Game I'm aiming at for this build is for me to play BF4 on Ultra (or Very High, I just want good high graphics) at a steady 60 FPS. any peripherals will be purchased later, because I think I'm good with my current set up (Note: it's really crappy). personal Preference. I love a black and red color style. I love high air flow with out compromise (And if you find a different case, Please keep in mind that I want to fill up all the fan mounting spots in said case). I don't want a Liquid cooling solution, because I just don't want to deal with it (and please no All-in-one solutions). I want a Windows OS over Linux bases OS's. Mostly because of my POV I feel like all the games are on Windows. No AMD Video Cards (Reason: the drivers I had to deal with all this time for one year) Personal habits. I Usually Play a YouTube Full HD video in the background of me playing a high end game. ( Is that considered multitasking?) Hi guys. I am currently saving up some money right now to build myself a new PC, and I'm not too sure how to configure it to get the most performance I can get out of the money I'm spending. My budget for the tower is $1,000 US dollars, including Windows 8.1. I need your help. Right now, I'm using an HP laptop ( specs in my profile ) for all my gaming right now, and I can barely keep above 20 FPS in iRacing and Assetto Corsa with it on low settings. I'll be using this system for playing 1080p games such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa, A Hat in Time, and some Source games. I also want to livestream the games in 720p as well, without taking too much of a performance hit. I'll also be using this system for schoolwork and Android development. It doesn't matter to me what brands are used for the build. If it performs well, I'm fine with it. I'm fine with any form factor. I also don't mind if it's air cooled or water cooled. PC Build for around $1000 So I have decided to build a PC for around $1000. I am trying to include monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc in there too. If not it is fine but I don't want the PC to be overly expensive. The price has to include fans. I am steering towards AMD for cpu's so I was thinking a fx8350 or fx8320. I have no idea what my graphics card is going to be though. The gtx 660 looks and so does the r9 280x but it costs $200+. Any build ideas?
