    Did you actually do any research on the game before getting it? Because the game is not remotely finished.

    It's just black, the acer logo doesn't come up or anything (its an acer g257hu). The power light comes on though.

    I checked with multiple cables and, vga and hdmi, I can check again but I am fairly sure its a problem with the display itself.

    So my 1440p monitor stopped displaying anything a little while ago. It still turns on but there is a just a black screen. basically I was just hoping someone could give me an idea if something like that is repairable and how much it would cost (in CAD) to take to a computer shop or something, because I really don't want to spend the money on a new monitor right now, and if I can salvage this one I would like to. Thanks in advance.

    I think you have very unrealistic expectations of what you can get in a laptop for 500 dollars. I truly think, unless you are somehow insanely lucky, that you are probably not going to find anything.

    Normally I would say give them the benefit of the doubt. Technical problems happen. But I've been watching them for like 3 years now and the wan show almost always has issues. My friends and I stream off our own computers and basically have zero issues doing it. I don't understand how they can be unprepared every week. It's surreal.

    I had laptops for a while but I don't count that really. I went from a dual core 2010 HP pavilion to an MSI GTX 770 Gaming edition and an i5 4670k

    It would definitely be a power boost, especially the with the overclockability, but you would need a new motherboard, and ram like the others said. It depends whether you are willing to spend that kind of cash

    Everyone else covered it pretty well, but just as an added thought: consider grabbing a gtx 1050. They are very cheap and have excellent performance

    You will have key differences, like some might be Matx and can only fit in full towers, or some will have more slots for sli/crossfire. I believe they brought out one that has 2 m.2 slots which is kind of cool, but mostly it will come down to opinion. go in pc part picker, look up all the features you want on your board, then choose the best looking/most reliable one. Although I doubt many people have had time to post reviews.

    yeah, like razer has chroma in pretty much all of their laptops now. I'm enjoying the age of rgb lighting laptops so far.

    1) it will vary but yeah thats fine, the game is going to be high end when it comes out and its not even remotely done yet 2) the graphics settings dont do much yet they are mostly focusing on content 3) hit the tilde key (the little ` above your tab button) when in game and type in. r_motionblur = 0 bonus: if you want to get rid of vsync because its more of a nuisance type in: r_vsync = 0

    If you are looking for a LOT of gameplay and functionality, i might wait till 3.0 but right now we have an arena fighting gaming for ships, a demo of arc corp on the ground which is pretty nifty, and a few hundred thousand kilometres around the orbit of crusader with moons and space stations with some missions to do. its pretty cool, and its definitely awe inspiring how big the space is when you consider its just around 1 planet, but its still early development.

    No problem, happy to help And absolutely, that cpu will outperform pretty much any FX cpu by 20% or more

    if you want a board and cpu this might work for you, http://pcpartpicker.com/list/ytrh23 I am not sure what tax in your region is like but I tried to get it as close to including proper tax as possible. This will give you a decent cpu and a budget board that is still overclockable so you have some headroom

    You know what, I think the thing we should be asking maybe is: what is your budget first of all?

    You aren't going to find amd architecture for am3+ that isn't going to bottleneck a 1060 at least a little bit, and going budget isn't really going to help that. but I suppose you could go for an fx 6300 and overclock it as much as you can. However if you want better performance you are looking more in the fx 8350 range.

    Yeah, star citizen is big in a way that games haven't been before really, and detailed similarly. they are doing things that other people have never attempted.
