  1. Hey guys, I want to revive a fairly old pc. Specs are: Asus Vintage barebone case AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ Some Asus socket 940 am2 mainboard (maybe an amd 690g chipset? - was sold by asus as a barebone system back then and has no model name or number on it) 4gb (2x2gb) of Kingston 600mhz ddr2 ram Some Asus branded psu with 350w 80gb WD branded hdd evga geforce 9400 gt 512mb ide type dvd rw cd drive I wanted to install Windows 7 on this machine but when I tried to boot from a boot disk the screen just went black. Black not like in no monitor input but as in just nothing happening. cd drive led was working. So I waited, but as nothing had happened after 5 minutes I shut the system down. By repeating it I run into the same situation over and over again. How can I make this work? What I tried so far: Checking the hardware (cpu, ram, hdd and gpu were tested in other systems) Manually selecting the cd drive as the boot source Checking the BIOS settings - everything seems to be all right, but I dont know my way around ide devices and their configuration...
  2. Ever thought of looking up your GPUs subvendor ID with GPU-Z?! Its extremly unlikely (a chance as low as maybe 1% at best) that your card really is an AMD engineering sample... (Some subvendors with smaller quantities of GPUs completly copy the stock design. Brands like HIS, Powercolor and VTX3D do this, and especially with the 290x this has been done a lot. Even bigger companies like Asus, MSI and Gigabyte sold stock 290x's.)

  4. Logitech G710. In my Opinion this is the most competitive priced, bang-for-the-buck mechanical gaming keyboard. Nice layout and really solid quality.
  5. I'd go with a Bitfenix Nova. Very solid, good quality, decent looking ATX case from a renowned brand for very little money. Support for dual 120 mm intakes up front (, which would be an important selling point to me).
  6. Wow I don't know guys but I think this is becoming a trend. There are a lot offers like this on ebay. In fact I found a guy selling a used reference GTX 680 for 400€. I messaged him to ask if he was for real and he really claimed that a six-eighty was worth that. I mean yes, the six-eighty was a beast back in the day, but today I just can't keep up.
  7. Wow Dude this is some nice work! Friggin' huge case and radiators. Would you mind posting temps when your done building?
  8. Hey, Is buying used hardware legit these days? Couldn't even find a cheap 970 At first I searched for r9 380s but I'm currently getting a good deal on a Gigabyte GTX 960 on about 180€ (normally about 200€) and I think I'll take it. Thanks for your help gentlemen!
  9. Hey guys, I need some help on deciding on a new video card for my haswell i7 based system. Currently I'm looking at a gtx 950, a gtx 960, a r9 370, a r9 270x or basically anything in the 150 to 200 (max 250) dollar range. So normally you would just spend as much money as possible on a gpu but here is the thing: I'd really like have the best fps per dollar rate possible, not ultimately the best raw performance. I don't plan to go anywhere above 1080p with my gaming resolution nor crazy with the details or filters, but I really like to run games (Battlefield 4, CoD MW2, Witcher 3, etc) at 60 fps. I'd like to have the best sufficient gpu for my needs - if that makes sense. I'm grateful for every suggestion and/or advice
  10. Since the ZBOX is a really small but enormously capable machine it would come in really handy for me and I would be really happy owning one of these:)
  11. I'd really like to win one of the awesome peripheral bundles by Feenix, and hope that I hereby have signed up for the giveaway. What I like about most about peripherals by Feenix is the clean and aesthetic design the went with. Everything looks like it is high quality made.
  12. The thing I like most about this notebook is the power-to-form-factor-balance asus has gone with. (and of course the fact, that it was used by linus and slick AND set a world record:)) I hope thats it for signing in for the giveaway!
