  1. i have a 8320 and a 680 lightning running in my spare rig and it works great
  2. umm thats pretty much as good as its going to get unless you change a few things for a sli/crossfire rig. depends on the resolution, and game optimization. far cry 4 isnt very optimized.... still that system would plow you away!
  3. match it up at the hardware store? it shouldnt be too hard
  4. As long as your mobo supports sli two 970s are a very tempting choice. if this is for future plans though..... ask again right before your ready to buy.
  5. why not just run 2 r9 290s for a similar price? clock x cores is like so, ish 2880x 1200mhz for the ti vs 2048x 1500 for the 980... and the math works out toooo....3456000 for the ti and 3072000 for the 980........ maxwell has some architechture advantages that make it pull out ahead though
  6. my 780ti is only boosting to 1166, but the voltage isnt cranked or anything, just bumped up one notch on the slider. (direct cu II) but i paid about 450 for it on sale, and the performance differnance doesnt matter to me. 980 is clearly the winner for those in the market right now though as the stocks of the 780ti is all but depleted and prices are back up to nearly 600 bucks and 980s are in stock for just over 550. soooooo this topic isnt really relavant anymore. the big boy should be out soon any way. and hopefully we get a fantastic amd launch as well to keep prices in check
  7. if you can build your rig for 1k thats great. thats a really really solid build. 4790k for your cpu, but everything else is good to go. dont get the i5 if you dont have to, the i7 will give you a little more room to grow.
  8. hmmmm maxwell uses its bandwidth more efficiently than kepler did, and maxwels cuda cores are more powerful as well......soooo..... yeah i grabbed a 780ti on a fire sale after the 900 series came out and im glad i did. lol 980 and 970 are still beast, so are 780 and 780ti.
  9. im running an 8320 and a 3770k, and i like them. the price is soooo nice with the 8320. and it has good performance. i wouldnt hesitate to recomend it for gaming. the money you save can bump u up a teir for you gpu or get you a ssd.
  10. well you know to keep your eye out. you can watch what everything is doing and catch a deal. watching vid card prices is crazy,
  11. but the asus card looks so hot!! ~has asus card~ i have a dcu II cooler on a 780ti and its great, got a msi twin frozer on a 680 and its great, and i have a sapphire dual x on a 7870 ghz. all great coolers and cards. double post
  12. grab one thats onsale. look around on amazon and new egg, prices and promotions change rapidly. asus, gigabyte and msi make some great coolers, and so does saphire. vapor x drool. whats your budget? can you wait a few months? i have a feeling there will be another shakeup with card prices soon.
  13. ~sigh~ my benchmark scores go down with new drivers......
