Multiple motherboards, multiple video cards, multiple types of RAM, multiple power supplies... Yeah. I'm with you on that. I think it's about time to call it for the CPU. Do check the motherboard pins to be sure everything is OK, but if you're sure the CPU power cables are connected firmly and you've tried it with multiple PSU's, then there's very little else it could be other than ghosts.

I have the chance to get a used GTX 780 reference card by Zotac for $200 Canadian. Is it worth it? I already have an R9 290 in my main machine, and I can always throw it (or my 290) in my gaming HTPC. Seems like too good of a deal to turn down lol.
I also just stepped in to the world of 1080p plus gaming (at 2560x1600) , so do you guys know which card would be better for my main gaming machine?

it's only 2 Monitors per PC, so there's 4 stations getting the 2x4K treatment lol... I'll suggest new PC's with a 5960X, 128GB of RAM and quad Titan X's ... let's see how that goes

The hyperthreaded Xeon will outperform an overclocked i5 in a majority of real-world uses, and consume far less power.

I have an evo and a pro, in just average day to day use, they perform the same. I only got the pro for my server that's on 24/7 because of the 10 year warranty... But still, I'm sure the 5 year warranty will be enough to cover you until you upgrade

Oh my god, i hadn't thought of that.
    That's genius.

You're right, i could just buy something like a Samsung 850 Pro, insall the OS, put it into an external thunderbolt (TRIM is desired) enclosure, simply go into the UEFI, and boot from the enclosure.

    Thank you!

So basicly what I did was:
    1. I changed the Energy option from Samsung High Performance to Balanced
    2. I changed the SSD optimization in Samsung Magician
    and that's it.

I have gotten Acronis for free from ADATA and OCZ as well. getting it for free from buying the drives makes it cheaper to upgrade to the fullversion usually for under $20. I use the full True Image on all my PC's to do backups pretty often

I own a couple MacBook pros, and I ended up just settling with a Time Machine router. I tried to figure it out (windows home server 2011) and I gave up lol. I didn't put as much research into it as I could have, but I couldn't find anything that would be able to do it
    Edit:
I found this link, it seems that passed Mountain Lion it's not doable. I just did some quick looking into again

    Hi!

Please download and install "MSI Afterburner" and then set a custom fan curve:
    http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

    Guide:
    http://www.overclock.net/t/646422/how-to-adjust-your-fan-curve-in-msi-afterburner

I don't think the OP knows how to do this.

My WF3 7950 disagrees with your baseless, false statement. Source? Anything to back this up? Or is this simple fanboyism? I hope not. I'll await your sources.

Awesome! Thanks for the reply. I'll be pairing it with an AMD HD 7950 for a bit of an HTPC/gaming rig for my TV. Wasn't sure if there was much of a performance difference if I'd get 1333mhz or 2133. But I guess it doesn't really matter in my case, just whatever is the best deal at the time.
    Thanks again!

Heading across the border tomorrow to get 1 or2 of these, and they have a bundle where you get to Pentium G3258 and MSI Z97 motherboard(normally $130 on its own) for $100.
I'll be able to build this HTPC for very cheap in the end thanks to the deals there!
