  2. It would be cool to have one of these. Nice giveaway, guys.
  3. Awesome giveaway! I'd have to buy a new mobo, cooler, and ram though, so it wouldn't be an instant upgrade, but it will be awesome in the future!
  4. Hey, guys of the linus tech tips forum! This post is not really asking for help since I've already issued an rma request, I was just hoping someone could help me understand what the issue is with my graphics card. This is what happened. At Dragon Age: Inquisition's launch, I installed the beta drivers that were just released so I could use Mantle, but got a significant reduction in performance, so I reinstalled the previous stable drivers which I had prior. After this, however, my computer started to blackscreen after a couple minutes of use. Since then I've uninstalled the drivers using the catalyst utility and reinstalled freshly downloaded drivers, and tried older stable drivers, but had no luck. Next, I tried refreshing my OS entirely because my friend said that might work. Needless to say, it didn't. From there I tried uninstalling the ever-loving f*** out of the old drivers (using the catalyst utility, rebooting into safe mode and using Display Driver Uninstaller) and reinstalling new ones. That didn't work either. I gave up and put in an RMA request at this point (going to send it in when I go home from college for the holidays). I noticed something though, as long as I have a game open, my computer is fine. That just seems incredibly bizarre to me. After about a week, the blackscreen issue seemed to cease without a game open. Then I installed the newest Catalyst Omega Drivers (which btw, nice performance boost in Dragon Age: Inquisition!) and it was still fine. I wanted to try out VSR because it sounded cool. Then the issue came back. I couldn't even load a game with that on, so I turned it off, but now it's doing the blackscreen without a game open thing yet again. Does anyone have an idea about what is going on with my card? I'm really curious to find out.
  5. Awesome giveaway! My favorite item: Kuhler 1250. Why? It's a liquid cooler, which I used to not want (one of the fools scared of having liquid in my system), but have recently really gotten interested in. I would love to have that! Thanks, guys!
  6. If I can sell my gpu for around the price of the 970, I don't see why I shouldn't really.
  7. The new features are nice and the lesser power consumption is pretty sweet. This gpu is great, don't get me wrong. I just feel like I could get something better for little to no money, you know?
  8. I can't really spend more money lol. I'll try to sell the card and buy the 970.
  9. The benchmarks show the 970 often beating the r9 290, so do you guys think it's worth selling my card to buy a 970?
  10. I'm pretty sure it's a bad chip. Makes me sad
  11. It didn't crash, but found an error after 20 minutes at 4.4 GHz and 1.24 volts. Sigh. What do I do from there since it found an error?
  12. It crashed at 4.4 GHz and 1.23 volts after 10 minutes of OCCT and then again at 1.235 volts.
  13. Aaaaand it bsod after 10 minutes of testing. Ugh. Is it not too uncommon to get a bad chip? I was expecting to be able to do a lot more with this
  14. I am pretty sure I got a bad chip. I couldn't get 4.5 stable at temperatures and voltages I was comfortable with under load (it was hitting 82C before it crashed during a stress test at 1.29 volts before I gave up on that). The funny thing is, the auto overclocking voltage is where I got 4.4 to get through some light stress testing. I'm testing it more now. More on the temperatures, I think it has something to do with the thermal paste now that I've thought about it. I used the line method Linus uses and didn't do a very good job at that. I also had a ton of trouble mounting the nh-d14 which probably made the paste all weird. I'd redo the mounting and paste, but I had so much trouble that I really don't want to do it again. I feel like it would have been easier to get a water cooler. If you guys have some more advice, I'd really appreciate it. I only wanted to do some light overclocking, but now I want more
