  • Biography
I am a University student currently in my Senior year, working toward a major in English (with a focus on Creative Writing) and a minor in Communication Arts. My ambition is to write fiction professionally (see: novelist), but in the meantime I work in the "Tech Centre & Makerspace" of my public library, where I have the pleasure and privilege to work with 3D and resin printers, a vinyl cutter/printer, a laser engraver, and much else besides. My favourite genres of video game are RPG, Story/Narrative-Driven, Psychological Thrillers, FPSs, and MOBAs.

  1. So, to my surprise, someone made an offer on my PC as a full build. A rather decent offer, too. $1'100, including the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Quite a bit more than I was expecting, needless to say! Thanks, everyone, for your help and assistance!
  2. Your presumption hurts me, sir! My baby is the shiniest, most meticulously-cleaned piece of machinery in my house; it practically glows. Glamour shots will not be difficult.
  3. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try, all the same? I wouldn't lose anything but a bit of time if I threw together a quick listing for Craigslist.
  4. Really? Well, suddenly I'm very happy I held on to the motherboard box, haha! Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate your help! Good point, thanks!
  5. That's not a bad idea! Thanks for the suggestion. I am familiar with peoples' tendency to do that on Craigslist; sometimes it's worth it for the saved effort of shipping with Ebay (which, given the size and weight of my PC [google the Cooler Master HAF X chassis if you aren't familiar, it's a behemoth!] would be a bit of a headache). Your pricing idea is good, though, thanks for that! I was thinking of staring in the ballpark of $800 as well.
  6. That is fair, but is there a market for parts this old? I mean, I doubt I'd have too much trouble with my 980 Ti, PSU, or SSD (being comparatively new), but the CPU and motherboard?
  7. Do you think selling it as a "VR Ready" build with an Oculus Rift included would improve my chances? I was contemplating selling my Rift and Leap Motion, as well.
  8. Hey all! Has anyone had experience with selling a custom-built desktop before, and could give me some pointers? Should I try to sell it all together, or do you think I would have more success selling it piece-by-piece? What would you recommend I try to sell it on (Ebay, Craigslist, etc)? At this point, I'm not really anticipating getting a lot from it, but every little bit helps. Thanks a billion in advance! Eirreann EDIT: Eugh... that typo in the title... yikes...
  9. Of that selection, the Aria headset strikes me as being the most aesthetically appealing of the bunch. The build quality looks superb, and the addition of the Japanese Pine Wood construction on the acoustic chambers leaves a very positive impression, like it is a genuine luxury product as opposed to a simple/cheap solution that one would find at, say, a Walmart. I am also rather fond of the engraved logo on the wood.
  10. Well, that's one way to do it, at least. I'll take that into consideration, thanks! Neither have I! And their card is the best reviewed on my list! (Albeit it also has the least amount of reviews...) Mind. Blown.
  11. Good evening, folks! So it has come time for me to enter the world of more-than-2GB-of-VRAM, and I've set my sights on the newest nugget from Nvidia, the GTX 980 Ti. However, I'm having a difficult time making my mind up concerning which after-market design to get... My top picks as of right now are: EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti SC ACX 2.0+ - $669.99 Gigabyte G1.Gaming GeForce GTX 980 Ti - $689.99 ASUS Strix Gaming GeForce GTX 980 Ti - $669.99 ZOTAC GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP! Edition - $649.99 Price isn't really an obstacle (as long as it's under $700). The big source of conflict is that I've noticed a trend in the reviews for most of these cards reporting coil whine in the fans when under load, which I know would just drive me nuts. So perhaps, if any of you have had experience with any of these cards, you could provide me with some feedback? Or if you had any other recommendations, I would love to hear those, as well! Thanks in advance!
  12. The aluminium build won me over! I am so weary of wretched plastic casing
