  1. I heard the news years ago , when one of the first few devices that have USB C , a Google engineer tried all sort of different USB C cables to review and letting other users know which to stay away from due to bad wiring or something. Is this still the case after a few years now? Receiving my first USB C port phone soon , so this question popped up. Please advice , thanks!
  2. Hi. I've just downgraded my GPU from a 1070 to a 970 to upgrade my overall pc. Anyway , issue here is , I've not expected the 970 to not be able to play 4k videos smoothly , especially in Youtube with Chrome , I was pretty sure with my 1070 it wouldn't even reach 100% or was neither a stutter fest. I've tried DDU my drivers and completely reinstalled my Nvidia drivers to the latest one. Any help would be much appreciated. Also when viewing videos , in Task manager I see my GPU utilization is moving but it's under "3D" instead of "Video decode" , was pretty sure it was video decoding when I had the 1070. Here are my specs : i5 3570 , 8gb ram , GTX970.
  3. I don't , Vsync is off , 1080p @ 144hz native.
  4. Here's a recorded video with ShadowPlay @ 50Mbits , shouldn't take much of my processing power but here you go. Here is another video as reference , though his GC is OC and has a better CPU. All I'm seeing in his video is that his GPU is always at full usage. I'm on the same exact settings as he used , everything maxed and at 4x MSAA.
  5. As far as I know , Dying light 1080p on high settings , distance slider slightly below half , gpu usage is hovering around 60% or so , while cpu usage is hovering around 85-9x%. I tried searching up on Youtube , people with the 1070 and a better cpu , their gpu usage is always at 99% , so that is why I assume for my case I'm having a cpu bottleneck.
  6. I am using a 3570 non K version , but i managed to get it running at 4Ghz but it does run hot on stock cooler. I am also gaming at 144hz @ 1080p. Nevertheless with or without it running at 4ghz , it still does bottleneck in Dying Light and GTA5 SP. I'm not seeing the GPU usage at 99 % most of the time while CPU usage are sitting around 90% most if not all the time. Overwatch on the other hand does run better at 4ghz with FPS rarely dropping till 90 with most of the settings turned up to ultra , not epic. I am currently double checking to see if its true.
  7. Thank you guys for the fast response! But what I don't get it is that there are people on other sites stating that a 3570 won't bottleneck a card like this , while in game I'm seeing a totally different story. I'm wasting the card's full potential at this point
  8. Is my 3570 bottlenecking my 1070? I have tested in GTA5 , Dying Light , and used Playclaw/Msi afterburner on screen display and I am seeing most of the time CPU usage is around 90% or so sometimes reaching 100% , GPU usage on the other hand is around 60% or so , hardly reaches 99% where I've seen on youtube people are getting. So is it safe to say my CPU is the bottleneck? I have "overclocked" my CPU to 4ghz last night to test Overwatch last night and it seems to get better FPS as well. I will do further testing if required. Thanks!
  9. Hi. I got myself a Seagate External USB 3 drive but it doesn't seem to be using USB 3 at its full potential , I plugged it into USB 2 slot and it's around 30MB/s , USB 3 slot is also about the same speed. Tried adjusting some settings and reinstalling/updating drivers via Device Manager , still can't get it to work at USB 3 speeds. I have plugged it into a USB 3 slot too! And the files I am copying from is also located on a SSD so that shouldn't be a problem. What am I missing here? I am on Windows 10 as well.
  10. By any chance does this remove some of my files? Because I've just did this , and discovered that some files are missing , I'm pretty sure it was there previously. Though , there are some files still there , I've tried playing every one of them and all of it didn't cause the HDD to freeze. Except for when I tried copying one file out , it frozed there for a few moments , but it went through just fine.
  11. Hi , thank you for your reply. I have yet to try the suggestions of many of the fellow great forumers here who suggested. But I did try using other sort of softwares to try backing up my recorded video files , it's the same deal , once it hits a certain point of the video/percentage copied , the whole HDD will freeze for quite sometime , seemingly from reading the bad sector that the files were recorded in. So , honestly , I don't really see how I am going to backup the files I need , since most if not all software will "read" that bad sector part of the video file and then freezes . What do you think? Thanks again!
  12. Thank you very much for the reply! First and foremost , I would like to ask that if you happened to have had the WD Green HDD too? Will updating the firmware "magically" fix what issues I'm currently facing? The videos files that I've recorded are inside and are able to play , just that it will freeze when it's viewed until a certain extend/point , Is it because it's been recorded onto a bad sector? I've just tested again , yes it really froze on the same exact 68% completion during copying. I supposed it is bad sector? Edit : Another file made the HDD froze is when the video is played till a certain timeframe of the video. Edit 2 : Forget some of what Ive wrote on top , a few other files got the same , buffering and frozen issue.
  13. Thanks for the reply! However , issue is I don't really think its viable to install linux just to use the program , more so that I doubt that I would be able to get it out before it freezing up on me again.
  14. My old WD Green that is used for storage purposes is showing signs of failure , no sounds just that it always freezes whenever I'm playing video files/skipping through videos. I have an upcoming important project files that I've stored in there , everytime I'm trying to copy the files out , it will move at normal speeds then up and down until it freezes. Everytime it freezes from either copying or watching videos , the task manager shows the HDD is currently on 100% for quite a few minutes before it will go back to 0% , and thats when I am able to navigate throughout the HDD itself . Question is , I do not know if its because of the infamous WD Green issue that needs a firmware upgrade , or is it dying. I thought I had too many files that caused it , deleted some and defragged it , same issue. Here's a screenshot of CrystalDiskinfo showing something that I do not understand , how do I fix this? Thanks a lot!
