  1. My Pinnacle PX IEMs went through the wash a few weeks ago. Luckily I realized before they went through the dryer, but even after leaving them to dry for over a week, they sound muffled and quiet when I plug them in. Is there anything I could do at this point to maybe recover them, or am I SOL?
  2. This just came in today: (Pok3r) Haven't had much of a chance to use it yet, I had to go to class right after it arrived, but overall it seems really nice. Really heavy due to the aluminum body, which I expected, but I didn't expect how heavy it would actually be. There are some issues, though they aren't related to the quality of the keyboard itself. I ordered the non-backlit version with clears, but received backlit one with blues. Im fine with the backlit, I was planning on replacing the keycaps soon anyway and I only chose the non-backlit because it was less expensive, but I'm not sure if I want to return it or not because of the blues. I got it for a pretty good discount through Amazon Warehouse, so knew something like this might happen. I like the blues, but it's not really what I was expecting to get. I'll probably use it for a while and see if the blues grow on me.
  3. Having more than one piece of data per node isn't bad practice, and it would help with organization if you keep them together.
  4. I have a board with reds (Corsair K65), one with greens (WASD Code), and I m getting a 60% with clears that should be arriving tomorrow (Pok3r). I like Greens the best, but they're quite heavy and I know a lot of people prefer lighter keys. I'd definitely recommend trying them out or getting a switch tester before you make any decision, though, since it is a very personal decision. Also, look into non-cherry switches if your interested, particularly Matias/Alps and Topre. They both have a very different feel to Cherry style switches, and I've very heard good things about both of them (I have not been able to try either out personally). It can be a bit harder to find a board to test them on, though, and if you ever want custom caps, non-cherry style switches can significantly reduce your options.
  5. The WASD code is a really solidly built keyboard. White backlighting, nice weight, and not too flashy. Most people get it for the clears (actually a bit harder to come by than greens sometimes), but there is a green version available that comes with pre-installed o-rings. The tenkeyless version is available on Massdrop right now (shipping outside the US is pretty expensive, though), and there's also a Full-sized version It's what I'm currently using as my primary board, and I really like it. WASD also has the V2, which from my understanding is mostly the same as the Code, but without backlighting and with custom keycaps.
  6. The Pok3r is a really nice 60%. Aluminum case (black or white), 3 built-in programmable function layers, very high overall build quality. There's an RGB backlit version coming out very soon (though it will probably be hard to get for a little while after it releases), and there are mono-color back lit options available now, too. If back lighting isn't your thing, the non-backlit versions comes stock with PBT keycaps instead of ABS (difference is that PBT tend to be thicker with a more textured feeling, ABS are smoother and tend to get shiny over time). You can get them in pretty much all common cherry switches (Blue, Brown, Red, Clear, Green). Here's a link to some on Mechanicalkeyboards.com. You can also check Amazon or other stores, but they tend to have a more limited selection.
  7. Ok, so I found the problem. Well, sort of. I found a solution. Apparently turning off hardware acceleration in chrome's advanced settings fixes the issue. No clue why, but YouTube works now.
  8. Nope, nothing. Though I should say I only manually installed flash in the first place because this was happening.
  9. I recently got a new laptop ( MSI GS70) and it's been great so far, except that if I try to watch any Youtube Videos it sits at the beginning of the video "buffering" for a while with a black window and the spinning wheel, and then crashes Chrome. This doesn't happen with any other video site I have tried, and only happens in chrome (IE is fine). I have tried clearing my cache and cookies, disabling all my extensions, updating Flash, reinstalling Chrome, and installing windows updates and it still crashes. It's not even just the window Chrome is open in, it will crash all windows I have open for Chrome, not just the one with the YouTube video open, and I have to go into task manager to force it closed. I can not for the life of me figure out what is causing this problem, though it seems to be specific to YouTube since every other video streaming site I have tried (Netflix, Twitch, The Escapist's video player, Dailymotion, and random video ads on websites) all work perfectly fine. I don't know if it's relevant, but YouTube also causes a drastic rise in CPU usage and temperatures until the window is closed, then goes back to normal, again, only on Chrome. Possibly relevant specs: -Windows 8.1 -16GB RAM -Intel i7 5700HQ -GTX 970m (3GB) -128GB SSD -1TB HDD
  10. I've been looking for a laptop for a while now and am stuck on what to get. I plan on getting one because I'm off to college in the fall and need something to replace my desktop (since I won't be able to bring it with me for various reasons). It will need to run recent games at a decent framerate (recent meaning Witcher 3 and GTA V, as those are the most demanding games I currently have and play). My current rig is a phenom II 965 with a 2 gig 660, so not setting the bar particularly high to begin with there. It will also be used for programming quite extensively. 1080p is preferred, as I would likely have it hooked up to an external 1080p display quite often, and I don't feel like I need 4k on a laptop. Not against them, just seems superfluous to me at the moment unless I can justify it in some way. The ones in particular I've looked at (and what I like and don't like about them) are: XPS 13- gorgeous laptop, but does not have the specs I need at all. Definitely would consider it if I was keeping my desktop around, but as it is, not currently considering. Lenovo Y series (no particular model as of this moment)- looks good, but no model I saw has a GPU over a 960m, and performance on that seems a bit low for my taste. When I can spend just a bit more and get a 970m laptop it seems a little lacking. Touch on some models is definitely nice, though. Asus g751- I would likely go for the 980m version of this If I decide to go for this one, since that seems to be the only real way to justify dat bulk. The thing is huge, which is a major problem for me, as I will need to carry this around a lot (though I do have a laptop backpack that could fit it). I also just generally don't care much for the look of it, but it has been growing on me MSI GT72- again, would definitely spring for the 980m version here if I go for it. Same issues as the Asus laptop; bulky and not an aesthetic I care for. Otherwise, good looking specs. Razer Blade- great looking laptop, bit too expensive for my taste. I love the look and quality I've seen from this laptop, but the price really doesn't justify the performance I would likely get in my opinion. No ethernet port either. Not deal breaking, but a bit annoying. MSI GS70- This is the front-runner at the moment. Thin and easy to carry around, with some pretty good looking performance all around. My main concern about this one (and other more powerful 970m/980m laptops in general) is the battery life. I wouldn't likely be playing too many games when I'm not plugged in anyway, but I've heard it's not all that great regardless. Those are the big ones I've looked at so far. I've also looked at the Aourus/Gigabyte gaming laptops, some Alienware, and various Clevo/Sager laptops, and they haven't really caught my eye all that much, but I am willing to consider them. Any comments or other suggestions?
  11. That is one beast of a card, looks incredible with such great performance! I know my odds of winning are so incredibly tiny, but I don't even care, there is still a chance, right?
  12. Any ideas on what to do with the old cooler? I was originally planning on throwing it at a tree or something, but that seems like it would probably be a bad idea.
  13. And now my CPU went down from being high 70's on max load and stupid loud to 50 max and only the hard drives being audible.
  14. Well, I guess an update on the matter. Holy crap, the thing still works, even when in total the CPU ended up losing 2 pins and I had to be way more rough then I would have liked to try get it back into the socket, and I basically had to chisel the CPU off the cooler with a hammer and razor blade (if I would have thought it would still work at this point I would have been much more careful.) And now I have the new cooler on and windows is running setup repair due to me having to mess with the hard drive a bit. I have a feeling something will go wrong yet, but so far so good!
  15. Like I said, i got a new cooler (an nh-d15) which comes with thermal paste (the reason this all got started in the first place), so in that regard I'm set, at least.
