    Wow wow wow,
The consoles suck because they can't be future proof, you can't upgrade me and you get crappy quality...
    And SLI hd 7970?
    CrossfireX more,like it...
That was a very bad trade if you ask me...

Because of Fallout: New Vegas, you run so fucking slowly in that game by default it is unacceptable.

After weeks (ok months) of feverishly losing myself in Fallout 3, it was NV launch day, me and my friend are going to the store on our lunch break, both of us have ordered the collectors edition and are excited, I had ordered the Xbox 360 version, and he had ordered the PC version.
In the car afterward while we were digging in our long game boxes for poker chips and steelboxes and shit, the subject of the slow running came up and he revealed to me the wonderment of modification that can happen with fallout games, and that he had spent his many hours in Fallout 3 with a more sprightly step, while I had wallowed in sludgy misery all the while...

I thought I could endure knowing this information and continue playing it on Xbox, I couldn't and ended up buying it on Steam, but alas my PC had an E5200 (a pair of Pentium 4s, and an idiot's choice over AMD's offering at the time) and an ATi 4850 which struggled to play the game. Balls.

I, with the help of my friend initially, did some research and created a shopping list, bought the parts, built a Sandy Bridge system with a GTX 285 inside and the resulting orgasmatron megadeluxe PC masterrace masturbatathon while running at whatever speed I fucking well pleased at the behest of a couple of simple console commands ensured that I was from then on hooked.

I found Linus among other tech reviewers, I began caring about hardware, I bought all my games that had PC version again on PC and started to bask in their new found magnificence. PC gaming is now an integral part of my life and I am very keen on technology as a whole, building my rig sparked a fire that can never die and my interest and knowledge has ballooned ever since.

TLDR I owe my nerd card to some guy at bethesda who thought it was okay to make you run super slow in Fallout, which it bloody well isn't.

Somehow, Windows Me managed to trigger a deep interest in tech in me. Probably because I wanted to know how to make it stop crashing or something.

Ultimately I got into tech by experiencing problems with the tech I had(PII based computer and Sandisk Sansa), so me being a try hard I wanted to figure out how to fix or improve upon it. This has lead me on an endless adventure to "learn all the things".

When I was 10/11 my uncle gave me a Ham Radio. I learned about electronics through that, and that morphed very quickly into computers, when I got my parents old Pentium 386 system (when they upgraded to a 450MHz P3 system). I was soon rocking my own Dual Slot-1 P2 system, sending digital communications across the world, bouncing off the ionosphere.

And the rest is history, filled with a couple hundred computer builds, working at a computer shop, school for IT, etc etc.

Look at me, all cute and young and stuff (note the corpse of a Macintosh being used as a chair....):

90% of the time high vs. ultra never makes much a difference...
at 4k you're alrady at such a resolution alot of the things that define ultra apart from high are useless.

    - when I first built my first pc, I missed a step when installing my mobo: installing the stand-offs. I installed the mobo without, and it ran fine for a few weeks. Then I realised and fixed my mistake :-).

    - Same thing that happened to you, but it happened after cleaning my pc and reassembling. Forgot to give my AIO power, my CPU ran at like 105C for a couple minutes, but it's still fine.

Both are mistakes you probably won't make a second time. :-)
