  1. That's exactly what I'm doing lol There will be a corsair H150i up top
  2. yeah... the rad and push fans will be inside the case. There's room for the pull fans to be mounted outside the case if only there was good airflow.
  3. I'm going to run 10-13 fans with the 3 front and 3 side fans as intakes then one exhaust out the back and out the top through the rad. Both those intakes have dust filters so im not too worried about the dust.
  4. I'm waiting for parts to finish my build within the next few months but initially I planned on a top mounted 360mm rad with 6 corsair ml fans in push pull configuration. After the case (Corsair iCUE 5000x) arrived I'm not sure that's going to work anymore. There's only a quarter inch of clearance between the top of the top mounted fan and the bottom of the tempered glass top. I cant imagine that's enough room for adequate airflow but the 2 fans in series should boost the pressure, maybe it wont matter? Anyone have experience with low clearance and fan performance? I emailed corsair to try and order the airflow top panel because I know they're interchangeable so I'll be waiting for that response.
  5. I got my G9 in a few weeks ago and I'm still getting used to it. I upsized from a 34'' ultra wide screen monitor (3440x1440 @ 60hz) because I wanted the refresh rates. If you've seen the 49" in person and know you'd like it then go for it! The image quality is very nice and the high refresh rate is awesome! I underestimated the size of this thing though. This was my experience the first few weeks with it. The setup took quite a while, the firmware needed to be updated out of the box for the display to be even remotely usable. I also had to use their display port cable, mine must have been a different spec because the screen would get all kinds of artifacts and turn off intermittently with my old cable. Also 240hz was broken until the firmware was updated, it just turned the screen black and even after resetting my computer it wouldn't fix it, had to plug a second monitor in and lower the refresh rate. Just have a USB drive on hand FAT32 formatted so you can update the firmware. It also seemed way too big at first, I was definitely a little disappointed playing games. The first few times I played FPS games it made me dizzy with the extreme distortion on the peripheral but I've since gotten used to it. COD cold war multiplayer is great but when i played a slower single player mission it made me a bit queasy. Also its very weird when playing MOBA or RTS games, you really need to move your mouse to the extreme to get the screen to scroll horizontally. As for the comparison, I would say choose the g9 if you have a gpu that can handle it, I have a 3090 and I still can't hit 240 fps in most games. 5120x1440 is just shy of 4k pixel wise so definitely be ready for a performance hit if you're coming from 2560x1440. If I had to do it again I probably wouldn't buy it. I liked having 2 monitors on my desk and this thing takes up so much room that its not an option anymore. Yes you can set it to work as 2 displays but I used a main display for games and the second one for videos/discord/music/etc with the curved screen trying to game on one side and have something up on the other wasn't great. I have until the end of the month to return it back to amazon if I decide its not for me, I'm 50-50 right now if its going to stay or if I'm going to find a 34'' monitor with a high refresh rate. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask me any questions.
  6. My mistake, misspoke there should have been 10nm production issues not 7nm issues. But, yeah that's what I'm doing now, ill probably wait and see what kind of performance 11th gen has to offer before making a decision whether or not to wait for 12th gen.
  7. Yeah that's what ive been thinking. But I also know intel has had a really hard time getting the 7nm production process down, with the rumors having 12th gen "announced" in September im thinking that could mean a Q2 2022 launch.
  8. Its been very easy to get the 10th gen chips so I'm hoping 11th gen wont be a big deal. And with AMD not being the only name in town supporting pcie 4.0 when 11th gen comes to town i'm hoping stocks will be easier to come by.
  9. Budget (including currency): About $3k not including the GPU Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: ultrawide screen gaming (5120x1440) slightly less pixels than 4k Other details Currently have an RTX 3090 and am building the new machine around that. My parts list right now Gigabyte RTX 3090 gaming OC ~$1799 (already have) Intel I9-11900k (when released) ~$510 Gigabyte Z590 Aorus master (when released) ~$375 Corsair Dominator Platinum (2x16GB) 3600MHz ~$300 Samsung 980 pro 1TB ~$230 Ill be moving my other mechanical drives over from my current machine for additional storage black Corsair iCUE 5000X RGB case ~$205 ICUE H150i AIO cooler 360mm ~$190 Corsair HX 1200W PSU ~$250 I was never planning on buying a 3090 but someone local was selling one for MSRP and I thought I'd grab it while I could instead of trying to find a reasonably priced 3080 or trying to get a 3080ti when those come out which I'm sure will be just as hard to buy at MSRP. Because I bought the 3090 I ended up getting the Samsung G9 49" over the G7 32" Now I'm just building the rest around the 3090. I debated waiting until later in the year to get 12th gen intel processors but I'm not sure I want to deal with potential software issues with everything changing to x86. I know there's always going to be something new right around the corner but with 12th gen set to be announced in September I'm not sure if buying 11th gen next month is the right choice.
  10. Probably don't need now it but my current rig has lasted me 8 years and 8 years ago 16 gigs of ram seemed pretty extreme too. I'd rather get 2x32 gig dims now and be able to 128 if needed in the future. You also might be severely underestimating how many tabs I can have open at one time in chrome.
  11. Yeah thats going to be my plan. In a few months I'll upgrade the the whole chipset. Im meeting the guy with the 3090 this morning, I wasn't planning on buying one anytime soon but he's local and selling at msrp so im going for it. The 2080 is going into my girlfriends new rig.
  12. Budget (including currency): 2000 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 240hz 1440p gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently have an i7-4770k, 16gb DDR3 ram paired with a rtx 2080. I haven't been too impressed with my frames lately in cyberpunk, metro exodus and modern warfare. Im changing out my 34" wide screen LG monitor for Samsung g7 32" 240hz 1440p monitor and im looking to get more frames. I know im already bottle necked from the 4770k and im looking at ~$1200 to upgrade to an i9-10850k with a new mobo, 64gb ram and a nice new gen 4 m.2 boot drive. Alternatively a guy local to me is stilling a 3090 for actually retail price... crazy I know. Just wondering if I'd see appreciable gains from upgrading my whole Chipset or if I should snag the gpu while I can and upgrade to 11th gen intel later this year. Or amd if they can get stock under control.
  13. I placed my order on steam for the whole Index package on June 16th with an estimate time of delivery "over 8 weeks'" going on 12 weeks now. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or ordered around the same time period and one ship.
  14. Update: my 2080 came in the mail today. Apparently the seller shipped it from France. Also even though I ordered the ASUS dual fan model I got the blower... They did refund me $70 for the wrong item though. Got my 2080 for $629 :) Also, it does run quieter than my 780 classified which I'm very surprised about, thought the blower would be a jet engine in there.
  15. Found today on amazon, I ordered the dual oc one but they have a blower style in stock right now for $699. https://www.amazon.com/Turbo-Gaming-Graphics-Graphic-TURBO-RTX2080-8G/dp/B07HX7FQYD/ref=sr_1_1?m=A6PIPIOD1H3U3&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1543612381&sr=1-1
  16. After my cats knocked over and broke my 2560x1440 monitor i decided Id go for one of LG's new wide screen monitors. I plug the thing in and everything seems to work great, but every time i run a game it crashes after just a few minutes. I tried CS go, destiny 2 and Doom. all crashed soon after loading, game froze, music kept playing and then the program force quit and i get a display driver stopped working but recovered message at the bottom of my screen. Ive tried installing the latest driver, doing a clean install of the latest driver and also going back and installing the previous driver and no changes. Tried running the games in windowed, borderlels window, everything. Lowered the resolution, no change. Ive got 2 other 1080p monitors, ive tried unplugging them and just running the new monitor as well, no changes. my card is a gtx 780, monitor connected with a display port cable that it came with. I'm at a loss here guys.
  17. So I've been using my old Asus g73jh as a home theater pc for a few years now. Recently the SSD sh*t the bed on me and I just stuck the old hdd back in it I removed back in 2012. Ive been thinking about updating for a while but now seems like the right time. I mainly used the PC for basic web browsing, and music playback, its connected to my receiver and feeds a 5.2 surround sound system and outputs to either a projector or tv. Ive got a dedicated gaming rig in my upstairs office and an oled atmos setup in my bedroom. I mainly use streaming services for media consumption, and ive got an oppo 103d and xbox 1s for bluray/uhd bluray playback I've looked into building a computer to run a PLEX server but i don't have an extensive library of content because I usually stream. But it would be nice to send content to different rooms without transferring files on a usb drive. so the question is, build a small AMD apu machine to run basic programs and music streaming 4k hdr playback would be a requirement and high quality audio or invest further into building a plex system. Right now I don't know if id really benefit from a home server but, I've also never used one.
  18. Ive been looking for a new phone for the last few months, I was hoping the s7 would support 240 fps but no luck there. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? I'm currently using the HTC one m8 I like the size of the 5 inch screen, I don't think id like anything over 5.5'' but id have to go put my hands on it. The nexus 6p caught my eye but im open for more suggestions.
  19. I just bought a 3 monitor stand, 2 below and one above, When I have it configured like this i cant snap a window to the top of a monitor anymore (except the one that's physically located on top of the other two monitors) I downloaded display fusion and cant seem to find any options in there to fix this. Does anyone have a similar setup or know how I can resize windows by snapping them with this config. I know i can just control + up arrow it but it was so much simpler with the mouse. Thanks!
  20. All im getting on this laptop is a black screen and curser on log in, tried everything i could think of and i think its just time for a factory reset... only problem is none of the options to reset are working... There is no charms bar so getting to pc settings cant happen, I can pull up the control panel threw task manager but there aren't any set points to restore to, the hyperlink to refresh the pc throws an error message when clicked "Class not registered" laptop has no disk drive and i don't have access to a windows 8 disk right now. Anyone know how i can wipe this thing?
  21. so windows installed its latest batch of updates and after the welcome screen there's nothing but black and the curser. The same thing happened when it updated previously, I was able to just restore from an earlier point and it was fine. No such luck this time, no restore points at all. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics drivers, no dedicated card just whatever running off the processor. tried restarting explorer, tried removing all the updates manually and then reinstalling all of them, ran scf /scannow and it did pick up some corrupted files but everything online detailing the fix uses the charms menu....which is gone. This isnt my laptop, trying to help a friend, at this point I'm thinking of pulling all her files and just do a factory restore. Any suggestions before i wipe it?
