  1. Hi Everyone, I have an R9 285 [PoweColor TurboDuo] and I'm thinking of upgrading from here. One of the reasons is that I want to give this card to my sister who is getting more and more into PC gaming. I built her a PC a while back for "school purposes" which only has Intel HD Graphics. The card would be a nice upgrade for that. I don't plan to move away from 1080p gaming any time soon and I play some "AAA" titles. Needless to say, this R9 285 got me covered for now. It's a strong card for 1080p. Would the R9 380X be a worthwhile "upgrade" to my R9 285? What I know is that they basically share the same architecture with a fully enabled core, and 2GB more VRAM. I'm thinking the VRAM would help me in future AAA games as the trend now is that AAA titles are needing more than 2GB of VRAM even in 1080p - correct me if I'm looking at this the wrong way. Or would it me "more worth it" if I spend a bit more and go for the likes of the GTX 970 or R9 390. I'm hesitant to go for this because again I'm not planning to move away from 1080p. If there's any other card you can recommend, please tell me. Thanks.
  2. Dude, no fuss, but how did you end up mating an i7-5820k with a GTX 750ti? That's like having a Scooter attached to a Rocket.
  3. I have mediocre hardware... But I'm glad I passed, somewhere in the middle CPU: AMD FX-8350 @4,5gHzGPU: AMD R9 285 2GB PowerColor TurboDuoRAM: 8GB (4x2) Crucial Ballistix Tracer @1600 MHz CL8Score: 2.9 Not bad.. but i'm going to upgrade my GPU soon. Let's see what awaits me.
  4. I would love to but sadly the 280 and 280x is still pretty expensive here with the local retailers, its still almost at the same price when it launched. Even if i get it from Amazon or newegg for example, still the international shipping would punch a hole in my pocket. Sucks to be at this side of the world. Also i considered power consumption. I live in a place or country to be blunt, where electricity is relatively more expensive. I dont really have exact figures at hand though, you have to take my word for this.
  5. Hello community! I found local deals for a GTX 960 4GB card. One is from PALIT www.palit.biz/palit/vgapro.php?id=2464 And the other one is from MSI www.msi.com/product/vga/GTX-960-GAMING-4G.html#hero-overview The thing is they have a difference of around 30 US Dollars(when i convert from my currency), with PALIT being the cheaper one. The question is, what do i get for the extra 30 bucks should i go for MSI? They both have the GPU and same amount of VRAM, both have non-reference cooling... The MSI looks arguably better with a backplate and an LED lighting thingy. But im gonna put it on a closed case with no window so looks are not that relevant to me. Which would you choose? And also i dont have experience with PALIT never heard of them until recently... anyone tried Palit already? Is it a good brand?
  6. Hey im rocking that same motherboard and its quite stable. I suggest you downgrade your choice of powersupply so you same spend a little more on other components that will directly affect performance, your GPU. I have an FX-8350 along with that board and an R9 285.. It can live with my PSU a corsair 650w one. Yours is a lower wattage chip and i would presume you'll use somewhat a low end card as well considering your targettingnon intensive games.
  7. I agree with you there. It's just that it's the first time I've seen it act like this. I mean even the TDP detected by CPU-Z changes. Anyhow I agree that it couldn't be bad. And yes, I'll definitely PM you. Thanks!
  8. Hello Glorious PC Community! I'm having a bit of an unusual scenario with my PC. I just have to say right now, I'm not a guru like everyone else is when it comes to building PC's. So keep it easy on me Also. so far I haven't had any sort of problems with my system like instability or slowdowns but I just want to get some opinions from the community if I should be even concerned of what's happening to my system. First of all I have the following: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P (rev 1.0) CPU: AMD FX-8350 @ stock speeds (strangely I can't find the product page from AMD's own website for this specific moded, but I'm guessing you know this chip already coz it's an old timer ) Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120v AIO RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (4GBx2) @ 1600 Mhz 8-8-8-24 GPU: ASUS Strix R9 285 PSU: Corsair VS650 SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB (the old "faster" model) HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB Sata II (yes, an old drive. recycled from an old PC ) Needless to say, this isn't the fastest rig ever but it definitely gets the job done. I have this rig for almost two years now, well except the GPU. It used to be a HD 7730. Now the "problem": Suddenly a few days ago, I booted up my machine, for my routine browsing and gaming. I fired up Task Manager out of habit to monitor my resource usage, and to my surprise the "Maximum Speed" detected by Windows is 4.02 GHz.I checked and it seems that it's indeed so. You can also see that CPU-Z detects a small increase in TDP - 125.2 W. That was just 125 before. Don't know how that's related but there you go. I checked the BIOS / UEFI and I think i got the "culprit". The BLCK Frequency is running at slightly higher than normal speeds - @ 201 Mhz instead of the normal 200 Mhz for this Chip. And with the Normal Multiplier, that would indeed result in a 4.02 GHz frequency. But what you will also see, is that I'm running everything at AUTO, which means I'm not overclocking the chip. This may raise the question why am I using an AIO. Well, its because I want to run my system as quiet as it can and be cool as possible as well. Okay, as I've said before, I have no errors, no BSODs, no detactable hiccups so far. Cinebench can complete its run. Prime 95 can burn the chip in without errors for an hour. I tried dialing-in the frequencies manually, just to try if it can be forced to run at the "normal" speeds again, but it still runs at an unusual speed of 4.02 GHz What do you think caused this, the motherboard or the CPU? and should I be concerned? would this be indicative of a failing component like the motherboard maybe? I have to be honest, I cheaped-out of the motherboard choice when I planned this build. Having said that, Gigabyte IS a reputable brand but I'm just not very confident of this particular model - but that's just me Let me know what you guys think. Sorry for the long post. Have a great day!
  9. Now that's a reallllyyy.. BIG.. giveaway... Sign me in! Vessel Username: suikofan11 Liked videos: Insane Storage Server - Fully 10 Gigabit Network, $1,500 Switch Create Your Own Illuminated Rear IO - DIY Project Share: Facebook Twitter Instagram If I have to comment on the Vessel video service, I'd say that it's a lot slower to buff/load videos compared to that of YouTube, and the quality of videos when using lower resolutions to counter the sluggishness is not the best thing ever. But I understand, Vessel is still "young" at this stage and there's still time to improve - I hope it really does. It will make YouTube, upon realizing a competent competitor, think twice before implementing something that would potentially hurt content creators and effectively hurt the quality of media that is delivered to the public.
  10. okay, this is what I was able to get. Is this good enough? What else do I need to show to @Whaler_99 to prove/verify that I have worked enough WUs already? and also, I do not have an idea what Kakao is...
  11. Thank you! I know i'm new and all but how do I get the "Folding@Home Member" Icon/badge in my LTT profile?
  12. Just joined LTT's Team! I've been folding for a while now, and didn't realize that LTT has a team up until now... I'm such a derp..
  13. I love the Liquid Kuhler.. Get it? Kuhler?.. The design of it looks innovative, different from the rest.
