  1. I think I'm just going to replace the motherboard as I think that one is the culprit. I also noticed something very strange earlier today when I tried to lower my CPU frequency from 4.3 to 4.0 GHz. In the task manager under "Performance" you can see what the Maximum speed is, mine is now 5.9 GHz for some weird reason and the current speed can fluctuate up to 6.49 GHz. Tuning utilities like the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility won't show temperature or frequency anymore, only CPU utilization. I think I am going to replace the motherboard with a GA-X79-UP5 instead as it is cheap and has dualband wifi, plus it is almost identical. Would I have to reintall windows because of this?
  2. The motherboard is about 2 years old, got it in May 2013
  3. I have experienced some really weird issues lately. I think it might have something to do with my USB ports. My headset just kind of stops working sometimes (Logitech G430 USB-headset), I have to change the USB port and it works again. Right now I have it connected in a USB 3.0 port and I have gotten no more problems so far. I am also currently skyping and noticed something very strange. I am the host of a group-chat in Skype and when I remove my headset the other peoples computers go mute until I put it back again. Really strange. Two days ago I had to uninstall and reinstall USB Root Hub (xHCI) because Windows said it wasn't working properly. And earlier today when I turned my computer on, I got a post error, three short beeps. I turned it off and tried again and it posted as if nothing was wrong in the first place. Really weird, I can't make any sense of it. I run Windows 8.1 64-bit version, an i7-3820@4.3 GHz on a GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD5 with 16GB quad channel memmory
  4. A NUC would be a nice addition, something small and easier to handle
  5. I'm gonna help my girlfriend buy her computer and I have been looking at the gtx 970 since I it hit me in the face that nVidia just went ahead and skipped the whole 800-series graphicscards. It would be awesome to have a 980 in the system though, absolutely nothing to complain about.
  6. Shutting it down manually is the thing that seems to work, luckily I have an SSD so boot times are pretty fast anyways.
  7. I put my computer in Sleep Mode during the night. I can't do that anymore because some time during the night it will turn itself on. I have no idea what this might be but it is really annoying. I have Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. Is there a way to check if there is a program that makes this happen? All help will be appreciated.
  8. I have stress tested my CPU for a bit now, the Windows Task Manager still says that it is running at 5.08GHz when the CPU load is 98%-100% but everything else, Real Temp and the stress test utility says that the clock speed is at 4.3GHz at 98%-100% load which it should. It is very weird. As of writing this message I can read on the task manager that 72 processess are running, 890 threads going and 24600 handles going on.
  9. Please don't die allready thread
  10. I don't know how many processes, threads and handles are normally running but this seems like very many to me.
  11. When it happened while I was playing it must have been around 50-75% load.
  12. I bought Assassin's Creed 1 a couple days ago and have now downloaded it. What is weird that I sometimes get huge lag, which should not be a problem for me because of my powerfull computer, it has normally been lagging for a few seconds and then go back to normal. It was different today, I got all the way down to below 5fps(checked with fraps) and noticed on task manager that my CPU speed was 5GHz while this was happening. I know I have overclocked the CPU to 4.3GHz but not up til 5GHz. I figured since the CPU is working so fast it must be hot, but when I checked with Real Temp the temp was fine. I then noticed something strange, the CPU speed monitored by Real Temp and the Windows Task Manager was different, Task Manager showed 5GHz but Real Temp showed only 4.3GHz. I have no idea of what is happening so I would like to find out. On the task manager it also says it is running 87 Processes, 1280 Threads, 31300 Handles. I have an Intel Core i7-3820 @ 4.3GHz on a Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 motherboard, 16GB RAM and a GTX Titan. I am running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.
  13. This happened again today, but this time I survived, so I managed to take a few screenshots of the taskmanager. It seems like it is the Nvidia Streamer Service that freaks out. It must be the the problem I think(at least my first problem), but It says that it only uses 3-4GB of RAM. Weird.
  14. I really need help with this, it happens often. I tried to restart my computer because of this, and it got stuck on a windows update on 30%, then it tried to restart again. It kept going like this for a while, even when I turned of all power. Fortunatly I managed to make it work. Any ideas on why I get this weird crash and stuff?
  15. It was only on process that took lots of RAM, and that was Nvidia Streamer Service which took about 4GB, I am not really sure what it does but, it is Nvidia. All the other processes seemed normal.
  16. Recently I have been getting some weird issues. After using my computer for awhile the disk usage and the memmory usage rises. I have Windows installed on an ssd and that one seems to ok, it is my other drive that freaks out and gets to 100% usage. I also have 16 GB of RAM and it goes up to 15-15.5 GB usage. I also noticed something strange in the Performance tab in task manager, in the CPU row it normally says: Handles (around) 30 000. When this weird thing happens it goes all the way up to 600 000 or 6 000 000 (I couldn't tell which one it was). I have Windows 8.1, i7-3820, GTX Titan driver version 334.67 Beta. This has not happened until about a week ago, when I installed the latest nvidia driver.
  17. The only java file I can find in C:\Windows\System32 is JavaScriptCollectionAgent.dll and I doubt that is the right one.(Type: Application extension)
  18. The files that used to be .jar is still .jar, but when I try to open them, I just get to a winrar archive. I can't seem to find Java when I look for a program to "open with".
  19. I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I really need help. I accidentally did something that made every jar file turn into a WinRAR archive, and I don't know how to get it back to normal. I have tried to click "open with" and find some sort of java program, but I can't find any. I have Windows 8.1 Just to show you an example, here is a picture of the .minecraft folder:
  20. Problem solved, it was just some settings that were messed up in the catalyst control panel.
  21. Still don't work. Can't find the older drivers.
  22. I tried to help out my brother with an issue he had with Tribes: Ascend, so I figured it would be solved if he updated the drivers to his graphics card. He has a 7870, it was running 12.3 or something so we tried to update it to 13.4. But when we did, the resolution changed and cannot be changed back again. Is this a driver issue? Please help quickly.
