  1. 60hz is fine, I don't play a lot of fast paced shooters so I really don't mind 60hz. Availability of monitors/TVs is a big issue where I live. Samsung and Sony are the only currently having official stores in my country but their product offerings are extremely limited. I am currently using the Philips 328p6v 32" 4k display as my main monitor. My secondary 24" 1080p display died so I though I would buy a nicer, larger display and make the Philips my secondary display. IMO anything larger than 50" would be too big to put on a desk and to work on. The RU7100 is the only choice below 55" I could find which had reasonable input lag and HDR. I am in no rush and would certainly keep looking if I can find a better option. Thank you for the help!
  2. I am thinking of buying the Samsung TV to use as a monitor with my PC. Mainly I would be using the panel for HDR gaming and watching video content. My question is: In your experience, are there any issues with using TVs as monitors? Will everything (correct resolution, HDR, refresh rate) be all plug and play, or it will be a problem setting it up with a computer with all functionality working properly? Thank you in advance!
  3. Logitech K200, Asus Cerberus, no mousepad. Gimme dat Feenix stuff NAO!
  4. 200r it is then. Thank you!
  5. I need some advice on which case to buy. I have a standard ATX Z170 board and 3 HDDs + 1 SSD. I'm using a H55 liquid cooler on the CPU. I'm considering 100r and 200r. Those of you who have experienced building a PC in either of the two cases are requested to chime in and tell if it is a good or a bad choice given my hardware. The price difference between the two is not too significant, although I'd have to wait a tiny little bit longer to get the 200r. I'll be getting the windowed version of either case I decide to buy. Thank you!
  6. No worries, 50~60º are great temps. Heat does reduce the lifespan of computers, but only when it is super high. If you're running your CPU at 95º all day every day, your CPU will probably be dead in a couple of years max. But your temps are well below thermal limits and will not be affecting the life of any of the components. A tip: If your laptop has vents on the bottom, make sure to not use your laptop on blankets, or beds, or anything that might restrict air flow. Use a hard, flat surface to let the bottom vents breathe.
  7. That's a relief. Thank you for the info!
  8. Thank you. I'm surprised it worked out so well for my first try :D. I'm kinda concerned about 6. Will any microcode update to disable OC brick my CPU or MOBO?
  9. I guess yeah, there's risk involved. I just did if for fun (it's my first time playing with an Z170 chipset). I bought the mobo to allow for upgrades to a K series i5 or i7 in the future. right now, I don't exactly need an OC at all. Just playing GTA V with CPU chilling at 40-50%. Will mess around a bit and will probably revert back to stock. But it's still cool I'm able to squeeze so much out of this CPU. I believe it is multiplied by 2, since the BIOS shows 2278 MHz
  10. Alright, I downloaded HWinfo and it is giving a temperature readout, so that's great. Another thing I wanted to ask was that I had to bring down the RAM frequency multiplier down to allow my OC'd system to post. Is my current RAM frequency okay?
  11. Get one 8 GB stick, you'll be really glad. 4 GB may seem enough for very light gaming and web browsing, but nothing more than that. Usually if you have less RAM available, your system will hit the pagefile which will drastically slow down performance and definitely introduce stutters and freezes. Just to give you some perspective, GTA V at 1080p eats up around 6 GB of RAM.
  12. I recently bought i3 6100, Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI, and Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400. I found another thread on this forum saying that it was possible to OC locked skylake chips using an OC BIOS, so I downloaded the OC  BIOS and got to overclocking. After some initial problems (I don't have a lot of experience :P), I finally managed to get 4.51 GHz on the core, at 1.35v. Now that's stable, and it's pretty great, but it introduced a couple of problems. First, the CPU temp seems to be stuck at 100 degrees in Windows. Second problem is that the computer posts, but refuses to boot if the iGPU is enabled. It boots just fine when it's disabled. I kinda need the iGPU because for x265 decoding (as you can see my GPU is quite old for x265). Any help regarding these issues will be appreciated. Another question, the CPU frequency used to vary with load before I OC'd. Now it just stays at max clock and max voltage. Is this normal and sustainable? Thank you!
