  1. I'm trying to run spyro - enter the dragonfly with pcsx2 but no video shows up on the main menu, only audio. F9 doesn't help and I tried looking it up. The pcsx2 wiki says Workaround: Game can be fixed using the following cheats NTSC: patch=1,EE,001e71dc,word,24020001 PAL: patch=1,EE,001E763C,word,24020001 but I don't know how to input any of these and see if I can fix the black screen. Does anyone know how to do this?
  2. sorry to bring up an old thread, but I can vouch that the deal was legit. my friend bought 2 and they had another deal for the 970 at $156 including tax, so I bought 2 of those proof - https://pcpartpicker.com/b/6hpbt6 if you're interested, you might be able to use this to price match somewhere (I did it at office depot, 6th store I went to, 2nd office depot total) http://web.archive.org/web/20150715055128/http://www.microcenter.com/product/438841/geforce_gtx_970_video_card
  3. would this work? just searched cheap gaming laptop on newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232576
  4. I guess I have no idea. I just bought 2 970s yesterday and I'm only running a 1080p 60hz panel =P. They were on sale for $154 each, I wasn't gonna pass up that deal tho.
  5. ...invest in a mutual fund? that's what I try to do when I get extra money
  6. Tinkernut's channel on YouTube has lots of interesting tech related projects
  7. alright thanks for all the responses guys, I'm gonna get a 750w power supply! I just wanted some extra confidence before I decided
  8. So I found this amazing deal on the gtx 970 for $143 USD plus tax (making it about $154) and I bought 2. As a 15 year old with a low paying job, this probably wasn't my best choice, but I wasn't about to pass up this offer, and I'll make the money back eventually by working and selling my old pc. I plan on using both of them in SLI with an i5 4590 since I'm trying to save some money, and I was wondering what sort of power supply you guys would recommend. I was going to go with a 750w EVGA 80+ bronze rated PSU, but after doing some research it seems I may be a lot better off with an 850w gold rated PSU, which jumps the price up by about $25-30. Would it be worth it to go up to the 850w or would I be fine with the 750w if I don't plan on overclocking? Thanks!
  9. I can also vouch for Star Wars BF2 it's a lot of fun
  10. The title of this post says you were running at 4k DSR to 1080p which means you were running at 4k and downscaling. 4k will use that much vram but 1080p won't get anywhere close at the same settings.
  11. Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm really looking to get a K70 if I can find it on sale or used in good condition, but I'll see how prices are for a while and make a decision.
  12. So I'm planning to do a build over time for about $1000 which includes a mechanical keyboard. Currently in my PCPartPicker list I have the Cooler Master CM Storm Quick Fire TK selected, which costs about $80. Are there any other good mechanical keyboards for about $100? I'd prefer Cherry MX Blues or Reds - or another switch's equivalent, either RGB or red backlighting (I'd prefer easy to use software, but if it's like Corsair's that's still ok), and a number-pad. Thanks
  13. yep, thanks for the advice. sometimes you just gotta sit back and look at the situation to figure out the best course of action instead of rushing in. Enjoy building those computers!
  14. seems that I have the wrong base station and it's actually just a charger I had. I'll have to scour the house one day for it to see about this...
