There are a few things OP and the  others here may not know. the Apple Tax in India generally appears to go through  the roof because of the 200% import Tax they put on electronics here. That is done because there is a huge demand for these products in India and the country wants them manufactured here, not built  for cheap in China and flooding the market, killing local jobs (or rather, not allowing for the creation of a local manufacture base). Apple has always been hardest hit by this and that is the reason they opened a small manufacture base in South India a couple of years ago.

Samsung, Xiaomi and some other big names have their largest plants in India for this very reason, Samsung having set up the world's largest plant here to pump out phones for selling locally and export.

Apple's golden boy suppliers Foxcon, Wistron and Pegatron have recently filed for provisions with the Indian government to open large manufacture bases for iPhones here.

The new iPhone 12 is not made in India and is still overpriced for this same reason.
But it seems the production will only commence next year.

Another problem in the pas has been that for a lot of manufacturers in India, it is not enough to just assemble the product in the country. Even the component supply needs to be localized or they'll be hit with Tariffs.

    TL;DR -

Indians still need extra kidneys to buy  the iPhone 12... But by next year, maybe only part of a liver!

Hope this brings some context to the absolutely lousy pricing that continues to plague iPhones (and other things Apple) in India.

Many phones are manufactured here locally for local customers to avoid taxes. The thing is, it is possible and quite easy to manufacturer these phones in enough volumes.

Apple hasn't started manufacturing in India and is currently importing fulling put together phones from China. They can only start by mid 2021 and by then you can expect the prices to reduce

And it's not really easy for companies, especially like Apple, who orders custom components for all their devices to manufacturer in a land with pretty much no manufacturing infrastructure and skill. Commodity components will be realtively easy because most android phones share the same set of components.

Seems like a pretty misleading title for this thread, no?
Intel want more focus on real world performance in applications general users actually run, rather than synthetic benchmarks.
I totally understand their point. How well a processor performs at Photoshop, WinRAR, web browsing and the likes is far more relevant to buyers than how well it performs at some synthetic benchmark like Cinebench.

But I think both holds value. Real world tests like the ones Intel wants more focus on directly translates to how well it actually performs for customers in those programs. I mostly use my computer for web browsing, so how a processor performs for web browsing is more important than how it performs in some synthetic benchmark which doesn't test real world workloads.
But at the same time, synthetic tests gives a much better picture of general performance, if done properly. Just because a processor performs well at let's say WinRAR doesn't mean it will perform well at Photoshop. However, if a processor performs well in lots of synthetic tests then you can be fairly safe to assume that it will perform well in real world workloads too.

AdminPixel reacted to Thaldor in Intel wants reviewers to benchmark using windows media player instead of cinebench for low end mobile
I can see that Intel has a point, but they also miss a huge point: The synthetic tests are there because they stress any CPU to the max and give some number to every. Do they reflect perfectly normal usecase? No. Are they biased? Maybe. But for real, what is the point to test something like how fast Chrome starts or loads a page? Like even with mid-range CPUs we start to have time differences in nanoseconds and at that point the difference is so small that even one bit in a different place in RAM starts to affect the results. Not to even talk about that those applications Intel wants people to benchmark might actually give even worse results with the top-of-the-line CPUs just because they are nowhere near optimized to take any kind of advantage from them (because there is no reason to use time to do something that stupid because no one in real use would notice any difference running them on i7-7700K or on i9-9980XE).
And about LoL and CSGO. Does Intel really have some kind of kink to be humiliated even more? Like those games are the point of the golden needle that's 100m tall standing in a square kilometer empty parking lot why you should never use most used applications as benchmarks. As vanilla neither one of those takes any toll on any CPU greater than a potato and if you remove every single limitation there is to get them stress CPUs as much as possible even the most recent mid-tier CPUs run the games "fast" enough to start breaking the game engine. Like one example test on CSGO I found (sorry, in Finnish, but you get the point, low-settings 1080p 2xMSAA, RTX 2080 Ti), like "great, would really pay the extra bucks for i9-9900K to play CSGO 11FPS slower than with i7-9700K".

Intel have been playing dirty a bit too much recently and this is more proof of it. We've seen a few clearly Intel-paid articles pop up every now and then, I remember one about a month or two ago claiming EPYC 2nd Gen was extremely inefficient and hot despite being heavily downclocked and on 7nm....

And I saw an article a few days ago talking about the 9700k being on sale for $350, saying it was $60 off. Except it was already on sale for $350 for ages...

The bribery and dirty tactics must end. This is the equivalent of cheating in a boxing match by putting something hard in your gloves.

Seriously...just accept 10nm was a disaster, move to Intel 7nm and come back for revenge. There is no need for this.

It doesn't necessarily mean these parts are actually planned. Filling a trademark just means protecting the name, so NVIDIA or Intel can't call their products RX 5900XT for whatever reason. Though it is likely for these parts to appear given that AMD has extended plans for RDNA and models after RX 5700 series.
