Oh damn. Well, I would still keep an eye on it. The Large was $12.87 or Wednesday or Thursday, then went up to $22, then back down to the current price of $13.06 for the past 2 days. The deal might pop up again.
EDIT: That message no longer shows up. Looks like you can capitalize on the deal once again.

This is Legit. It gives you a "promo" code which you can use at the antlion website. The promo code reduces the price to $0 and you just enter your address to ship.

To clear your CMOS; open your side panel and remove the silver battery looking circle, wait a minute and put it back in. That should replace BIOS.

Even at 4k the 3.5GB of VRAM does fine in BF4 at least. http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/Frame-Rating-Looking-GTX-970-Memory-Performance/Battlefield-4-Results
Wait to see some more benchmarks done and/or try running some DSR 4k downsampling and see if it is an issue.
Otherwise my previous recommendation of R9 290/x still stands.

The R9 290X is the best option from AMD at the moment
Australia gets screwed on prices more then Canada, $565 for mine (including tax).

R9 290x is the way to go if you're returning it. Email AMD Roy and you might get a discount on a 290x.

I'm not sure what the Canadian promotion is (or if there even is one), but in the US I got offered 10% off an XFX Double Dissipation R9 290x plus a free XFX baseball cap from newegg. With the discount it would have come to $285US after rebate for their 290x, which is a pretty nice price (though I would have bought the $300 MSI Lightning R9 290x had I returned the 970). I opted to just stick with my GTX 970 since the problem didn't look too bad from reviews done the last couple of days explicitly targeting that last 0.5GB of memory. But if you're returning your 970 check to see if AMD is offering anything to you to switch.

People casually forget that the 660Ti had the same split buffer arrangement, leaving 1.5GB of fast GDDR5 and 0.5GB of slow GDDR5, yet it survived (and still survives) just fine.

I like that there is rational thinking behind this. Good job OP, you got past the NVIDIA bashing/astroturfing and arrived at a sensible conclusion.

I understand that the "problem" is only under certain conditions like 4k and stuff. But games and such are becoming more and more depending in terms of the graphics card power they require. While I am 99% sure I wont run into the problem, its just that if I do upgrade my display to 4k, I dont want to also have to get another graphics card. I was willing to buy another 970 to go SLI, but it would be useless to have a card sitting around which I cant do anything with. I only bought a 970 and not another cheaper card is because I can't aford to buy a card everytime something new comes out. It needs to last at least a few more years.

Why are you returning the GTX 970? The 3.5GB of (effective) frame buffer is enough.
Otherwise I'd suggest an R9 290/X.
