Did you partition and format your new HDD during the installation process?
 
If you select "Custom" install it should give you a screen that lets you select where to install windows. For a brand new disk then it will just show "empty space" on the drive. If you tell it to install into the "empty space" then it will automatically partition and format the available space on the drive.

If you want to partition it yourself then you have to click on the "Advanced..." option on that screen which will give you some more choices.
 
If you tried that:
Another thing is check the bios whether IDE or AHCI mode is on and just change it to whatever itis not on..

My sister saying she hates windows 8 on her new laptop (some samsung ultrabook) So I offered to change it to W7 when she says she doesn't want to have learned whats she's learned so far for nothing.. :facepalm:

Now I get why nvidia releases these 1000+ dollars titans. It makes 700 dollar card look like a steal..
 
I used to buy high end graphics cards for around 200 bucks now its 700.
 
This is just a prices rant BTW nothing against nvidia or OP.

This basically be what happened to me first mate.

Click Start, type msconfig in the Search programs and files box, and then click msconfig in the Programs list.
In the System Configuration window, click Advanced options on the Boot tab.
Click to clear the Maximum memory check box, and then click OK.
Restart the computer.

Well it says forever and helium will in that time period run out for stars to be powered with and just theoretically spoken light will cease to be "a thing" and thats just if our universe ends peacefully.
