  1. I enjoy the ratio of screen to device front - though I still wish it were compromised a bit by frontal speakers, to be sure.
  2. Give us some phone options and we'll provide the pro's and con's of each.
  3. Finally Blizzard has decided to bow to the demands of fans worldwide and close the Auction House altogether in Diablo III, as of March 18 next year. Video through the link: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/10974978/ EDIT~ Dupe thread, feel free to delete! Levent beat me to the punch .
  4. You've got to look at how the software uses the extra pixel real estate, though. The iPhone was designed with a high PPI screen in mind, so all the icons and content have been scaled up to be higher resolution - and the way apps are executed means the image rendered re-scales based on the app's design. Windows is not like that; whilst the OS itself has a setting to allow the UI to scale in such a way, individual applications do not necessarily use this setting - and just look really small with high resolutions.
  5. Yeah, but there will always be some apps that base their size on the pixels displayed rather than system settings, and may not be able to be independantly scaled. If those are literally the only applications he's likely to use, well and good, but if there's any chance of others I'd go by what I said.
  6. I live in the middle-of-nowhere, rural Australia.
  7. If this product proves good quality (as I'd expect it to because ASUS), and had launched around two months ago when my keyboard died, I may have been tempted, as it would suit the red-and-black theme existing in the rest of my build. As it stands I'm happy with my G710+.
  8. Two years ago I received a sizeable tax return from the good ol' ATO. Then I waited until a decent array of parts were available. Then I ordered them and built this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/13eyI
  9. Methinks a system setting would certainly require a change, there! Issues will crop up in apps that don't recognise that setting, though.
  10. I can comment on the Samsung S27A850T 27" PLS panel, as I have it. It's awesome! I haven't really used too many other equivalent panels, except on phones :P.
  11. On my phone, I click the home key to get back to the start. On my PC I have pretty much all the apps I use on the taskbar (I re-enabled the old quick-launch tray, usually disabled in Windows 7), so I rarely need to go to the desktop. When I do, I tend to just grab the window and snap it to one side of the screen, because what is on the desktop is all on one side of it.
  12. Is the reduction-in-eye-strain situation going to be long-term? If so, I'd get a larger 1080p panel, just for the increase in the default sizes on-screen.
  13. Illogical app-tray app layout (cannot list apps in alphabetical order without manual adjustment), childish interface theme (though less-so compared with previous versions), bad use of screen real estate, useless gimmicky features, unintuitive home screen editability. I would not say it's too slow; neither of these phones show much evidence of slow-down at all. It does jerk a bit here and there if all the useless samsung gimmicks are enabled, though. Once again, this is my personal opinion, so feel free to let yours differ. My best advice is to have a play with a demonstration model at your local store, and arrange the homescreens in such a way as you would generally use them. What I do like about it though, is the S-View cover - and if you can pick one up cheap enough then it might just tip the balance into getting the S4. It's the first mobile phone cover I've come across that genuinely adds decent functionality without bulk to an already pretty good phone.
  14. Nothing to rate, so I guess I'll just post mine :P. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/13eyI
  15. As others are saying you cannot fairly compare these two phones. One is last year's model with last year's specs, built to a budget. The other is this year's flagship from one of the most well-respected high quality handset manufacturers.
  16. On pretty much all HTC android phones, double tapping a headset button will re-dial the most recent number from the call log. On most other android phones, it will simply skip your currently playing song. I use an app from the Play store called "HeadsetButton Controller" with my HTC One XL which allows you to configure multiple functions for the headset button to sidestep this; one of the options specifically disables this HTC-specific function. It irks me that I had to pay for third party software to get my phone to work the way I want it, but it does the job and it was only a dollar or so.
  17. First thing I would do with the Galaxy 4? Replace the launcher, TouchWiz is freakin' irritating. Aside from that, if you need a phone now, then get it now; otherwise wait until something better comes along. Seems obvious to me!
  18. The OP appears to be evidence of the stronger "Galaxy" brand than the "Android" one.
  19. Shortly, the Google Play Store!
  20. The Australian HTC One XL. Uses the Snapdragon S4 and LTE like the US One X, except that our Australian variant has twice the storage (32GB)!

  23. I didn't say "hayche". http://youtu.be/cPq00TYeiY4?t=2m20s I said "ayche". And thanks! Naturally I also posted in the 3960x thread to see if I can get an even better CPU :P.
  24. Here's a video log I created over the course of building my most recent system; with a full list of parts used at the end. Please excuse the totally amateurish tablet camerawork, I just found this far more fun than taking stills (I lack a high-quality camera for either stills or video :P). This first video documents and demonstrates the unboxing of the first delivery of parts, listed here: The next one shows the remaining parts used in my initial build: The third video documents the construction of the core components of the system, excepting the GPU. Finally, my new monitor arrives! After Linus showed off a PLS panel in one of his videos, I fell in love with the minimalist design and splurged on one for my system - seeing as how it maintains a 16:9 aspect ratio (for video consumption) alongside a high resolution. And a couple of weeks later, a powerhouse to drive that monitor! I chose the 7970 over the 680 due to the increased quantity of graphics memory present on that card; bearing in mind the resolution of my monitor. Not content with just a new PC, I upped and moved house and purchased a new desk for my system, the journey is almost complete! The penultimate step of my marathon post is a listing of the complete system specs used in the build: CPU: Intel 3930k Motherboard: ASUS Rampage IV Formula Graphics Card: ASUS 7970 DirectCU II TOP Edition Monitor: Samsung S27A850T Case: Corsair 650D RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz CAS9 DDR3 16GB PSU: Corsair AX850 CPU Cooler: Corsair H100 OS HDD: Intel 520 240GB SSD Secondary HDDs: Various older 1tb drives from my old system. Fans: BitFenix Spectre Pro LEDs throughout (red LEDs, naturally :P) Mousemat: Razer Scarab Keyboard: Logitech G15 Gen 2 (crappy orange LED one, from my old PC) Mouse: Logitech G9 (also from my old system) Speakers: Creative Gigaworks T3 The final thing I'll post here are some higher resolution snaps of the system and its components - I'm awaiting time to do that right now. I'll update this thread within a couple of days probably ;). Let me know what you guys think!
