Yeah, I'll make a pm group sometime this Wednesday. A mailing list? Sure thing, I still have the old Drunken Wolf one haha. Firefox is always logged into the translation group email.

Idk, one of my tabs was just that far back.

    The best kind of stalking?

I expected better stuff from Tomo-chan, last couple of strips have kind of been lackluster but oh well.

Horimiya got some major development recently, interesting turn of events. I hope they do more with plot progression.

I'm going to have to re-read Horimiya at some point. About a half-dozen chapters ago, I felt lost as to who the characters I was looking at were, and that's never a good sign. Maybe now's a decent time to do that.

They really diverted attention to the non main characters for a couple of chapters, I'll be honest I don't really care for many of the side characters. I wanted to see more of Hori and Miya interaction more than anything.

C-c-c-combo breaker! (sorry, haven't played Clannad, just watching the anime). But speaking of anime...

    Dagashikashi. mediocre.
This is your typical anime comedy series where they have a very limited amount of material that they stretch out for far too long. These anime tend to just air their best content right away, and then flame out over time, but Dagashi chooses to air their best material here and there, with one or two decent episodes that are mildly funny, and the rest being bland slice of life that goes nowhere, with a couple of funny jokes occasionally interspersed therein. Worse, the comedy itself tends to rely too much on Family Guy style cut-aways to classic shounen anime scenes, or teenager friendly anime sex gags. In other words, it's relatively tedious for the bulk of its runtime; there aren't really any highs to compensate for the boring lows. On top of that, the central gimmick of being about Japanese junk food treats is far too often barely paid lip service or just a glorified ad, so it doesn't really stand out in that regard, either. Even the finale is incredibly weak. There's just not enough bang for the buck here. At best I can very mildly suggest it to big fans of Hotaru's character archetype, or people who love shipping characters no matter how lame the framing is.

    Thoughts on eps 9-12:

    Wagamama High Spec (1-4). so-so.
Figured why not, it's a short episode anime. What's it like? Well, like another spin on the Teekyuu rapid-fire style gag show, except with much fewer gags-per-minute and "making up for it" by shamelessly pandering a bit more. So basically a sped-up moe show. It certainly isn't as bad as I expected, but it has a limited appeal just like Teekyuu, only tweaked for a slightly different audience. It's not really my kind of show, but it's short enough that I can bear it, much like Aiura.

    Usakame (4). so-so.
Maybe this will be a bit better to watch in bulk, but so far it's nothing noteworthy as of four episodes. Taking this kind of premise even a little more seriously than Teekyuu requires much more material to be covered in a decent amount of time, so the episodes here are probably half the length they need to be, and the material is probably just a bit too glib for its own good, or not glib enough. Whether it amounts to anything will be easier to tell by watching it all at once after it's aired.

    Tomo-chan's a Girl! manga (c318-322). so-so.
Oh good, basic underwear humor and a gay joke. Let the laughter commence. Hopefully this will be a setup for some better material.

Kaguya Wants to be Confessed to manga (c17). decent.
I really didn't expect this chapter to be as funny to me as it was. The material's quite simple and overly stupid, but it just fits the characters so well that it felt refreshing after one and a half episodes of Dagashikashi dragging out a canker sore joke.

My Hero Academia manga (c89). so-so.
Suddenly this feels very messy and disjoint. I can't really tell what's supposed to be going on at times, though I can figure it out by assuming what the author's going for. My disappointment continues though, because they're just confirming the exact type of plot I've been dreading. I normally wouldn't mind that, if there was something else to latch onto, but there really isn't. This is just about a bunch of simplistic (but colorful) characters figuring out what the plot is, after all - it all rides on the quality of that story. And so far... it's nothing special. There's a hero who passes his quirk to others, and a villain who steals others' quirks. The villain is just there to be a plot device to keep the heroes from winning, and he's conveniently obsessed with grooming an evil pupil, just to counter All Might's desire to groom his own pupil. Why? Who knows. All Might's motivations are strong, but the villains are both unknown and not particularly rife with potential. If they don't reveal a strong motivation for them sometime soon, my limited interest in the series may not recover.

Renai Kaidain Sayako-san manga (c29-30). decent.
It's interesting that they'd suddenly introduce a family member just to cut through the MC's obliviousness. I wonder if it's going to lead to something atypical? So far it's almost alarmingly straightforward stuff, though it's working out alright. Chapter 30 was surprisingly cute for the set of tropes on offer. I will say that they may be playing a bit too much with their "gaunt-faced" visual gag now, but it too remains fun for the time being.

Well, finally finished KonoSuba. I should have quit while I was ahead.

    KonoSuba. mediocre.
I wanted to be kinder to this one, I really did. The first few episodes were on the slow and repetitive side, but they had some real high points. It had the air of a comedy that was just struggling to find its footing. And then it gave up and settled into a rut of telegraphing punchlines and playing them straight, and repeating the same character interactions ad nauseum. There was definite potential here until they started phoning things in in episode 6, and the finale was the only marginally decent episode in the second half of the anime. So while it's maybe worth watching the first 4 episodes (if you're forgiving of a comedy if it has a few stand-out moments), once the silly cabbage battle is over, you've seen the best the show has to offer, and a lot of the rest can barely be called comedy.

For the curious, my thoughts on the episodes (6 onward) are in the spoiler.

Kamisama Hajimemashita was a good anime.
I second the romcom's recommendations as they are the only ones that i know.

Nozaki-kun, was a lot more comedy than romance (but sitll romcom) And very funny.
Jitsu wa watashi wa has very nice comedy (to me at least) but as far as i remember, it was another school harem.

It isn't, i liked it quite a bit, watched every season and i think 1 movie (when they go to london)

Nana was the last anime that blew my mind. Such masterpiece to me.

Also check out Chihayafuru. I actually watched both seasons (24 ep each) in 2 days from monday to tuesday, such an amazing anime. I'm dying for a season 3.

Honest opinions, is it really worth it? I have seen some people talking about it but I didn't really pay attention to it (consciously cuz witches?)
If it's "okay" I will watch it because currently watching some "less" quality shows like Kiznaiver and Sousei no Onmyouji.
Only 2 shows I enjoy Re:Zero kara hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu and Koutetsujou no Kabaneri.
Joker Game second episode was thrilling but I didn't really feel anything in ep3  Well they tried, but if this is going to be "episodic" then I'm quite disappointed.

    Tanaka's a Lazy Ass (1). so-so.
This is ostensibly a comedy, but it's a very meager one. There were a few bits that bordered on funny, but the gags were all so obvious that I was as listless as the MC. Centering the show around such tedious characters doesn't really leave me feeling inspired to watch it. I am glad that they at least try to move from scene to scene at a reasonable pace, but that alone isn't enough to make it too entertaining. There's a chance that the new character might turn the tides, but it's hard to say.

    Tanaka's a Lazy Ass (2). so-so.
Well, this came closer to being funny to me, but not enough to warrant wanting to watch it. "I'll do my best to not do my best" is a fine line for a comedy, but it was too predictable to be effective on its own. Ditto comparing Miyano to a dog. The prison cell joke came the closest to making me chuckle, because by that point I was so tired of Tanaka's shtick that I wanted to see him behind bars or something. The second half of the episode kind of came and went by for me, as did my interest in the anime.

    Helck (c67). decent.
Helck talks to his former foster-father and... they do more shounen-style "we won't lose" speeches. We learn nothing new in this chapter, and other than seeing Anne and Helck do the whole "comrades" thing again, there's not really much to it. It ends with the appearance of a some new winged foe... oh who could it possibly be!? The suspense is killing me! Well, all jokes aside, they might as well go for it. At least it's a chance to change things up a bit and let Anne use the Hero sword to give Helck some closure (or something).

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (c23). decent.
This chapter basically introduced a new mini-boss for the heroes to beat and it furthered the princess' character arc. A new potential teammate seems to be added as well. I wasn't really moved by anything presented here, but it did what it had to do to move things along, so it's not bad.

My Hero Academia manga (c86). decent.
Well, they did what was sensible here, but it's unclear where it's leading to just yet. They've either written themselves into an anticlimax (which would be fine) or they're going to pull more twists out of their behinds. It'll be interesting enough to see which they go for.

    Vinland Saga (c50-126). great.
While some of the twists and turns in this story are goofy and feel a tad forced in some ways, the overall effect is still a fun take on the Hero's Journey. Which is good, because having Thorfinn become not just an attoner, but some sort of potential messianic figure, is all quite predictable. The gradual toning-down of the story and attempts to play things off as a series of encounters between mythic figures has turned this into a more interesting and sincere feeling story, even at the cost of a bit of a jarring tonal shift. I was glad to see them take chances, despite that. Too many manga stories these days get stuck in first gear, and too many others lose sight of what made them fun. Vinland Saga has kept being an engaging little story, without going so over the top and goofy that I can't take the characters as seriously as they need to be for any given scene. There's a distinct Fullmetal Alchemist vibe to the story now, just that it's more about its characters' personal stories than just how they deal with one another.

Had some time to watch a bit of anime for a change.

    Rinne (3). decent.
New character get. Kain's still an insufferable dickweed that you just want to punch, but Suzu helps take the edge off whenever the story involves him. And it was pretty charming to see Rinne investigate the "crime" of the missing 500 yen. It's always nice to see the show not go overboard with the "he's poor" thing while still managing to base an entire episode around it nonetheless. This ep was straightforward and lacked any highs or lows, but it was still a good bit of fun.

    Tanaka's a Lazy Ass (3). so-so.
I came back for one last look but man was this ever booooring. At least the previous episodes had some comedy; this was just "stuff happens. We hope you'll laugh at it". Seriously, if they added a laugh track to this it might qualify as your average tedious prime time sitcom. There's a few core ideas here that should be working a lot better than they are. It's vaguely reminding me of Acchi Kocchi, except only once in three episodes did it almost spring to life for a few seconds (when Miyano reveals her obvious love interest). That's just not enough to go on for me; I'm done.

    Sansha Sanyou (1). so-so.
I figured I'd watch another moe show if Bakuon wasn't going to cut it, and I'd heard this one was energetic. And yeah, that's what it is: an energetic moe show (I'm surprised the brown-haired girl doesn't have a fang). And yet, the energy and personality of the focal character made this episode bearable in spite of the pedestrian material. It's not quite funny, far from original in any way, but it was pleasant enough to give it another episode to see how quickly I'll tire of yet another show about generic friendship skits.

    Sansha Sanyou (2). decent.
So far, this show borders on being pretty decent for a moe show. They're at least giving their characters some personality, and while it's not funny, it's at least amusing. If only it felt a bit more inventive or had some other thing to call its own, I would probably be content with this. As it stands it kind of reminds me of Love Lab, just more stale. However, it has some alright moments of slice of life that help make up a bit for the lack of solid comedy or interesting premise. Could be worse. At least it's not wasting a premise or lacking any charm.

    Flying Witch (3). so-so.
After having seen some other slice of life shows from this season, I really can't see this as anything special. Like most any slice of life anime it has a couple of moments here and there, but honestly this has been one giant waste of its premise so far. I mean, they spent half the episode showing their witch tediously chasing around a pheasant and plucking weeds. Granted, they finally showed us something witch-like in this episode, but honestly it was way too little too late for me. Frankly it felt like a huge cop-out to toss in a line saying "she's not that kind of witch" at this point. It felt more like a relief to see them trying to do something charming with the botched spell, but it was just way too little too late to keep me watching this series. Maybe they should have cast a spell of iyashikei instead.

    Space Patrol Luluco (4). good.
Finally Luluco takes off and gives us a truly good episode. But wait... meteorite? That looked more like an asteroid to me. I think they'd have more to worry about than just one city if that thing hit Earth. Still, this ep had some pretty fun moments, from the launch sequence to the English announcer stating that this episode went into production without a script. Not to mention Space Cop's BS idea for Luluco's escape, or Luluco running into her space pirate mother in the process. Now this is more like what I pictured this series to be.

    Usakame (2). so-so.
Well, this isn't really doing anything more for me than Teekyuu did, and in fact it's probably not as entertaining due to being slow enough for me to notice how dumb it all is without just being blindsided by how rapid-fire it all is. Oh well, it's still short enough to not mind... I just would rather have more Teekyuu if this is all Usakame is going to be.

It may be wise to try the common list of mainstream anime that others often suggest first, as you probably won't appreciate them as much after you've watched a fair bit of anime. Here's a list of various anime (in no particular order or genre) to try if you want a respectable cross-section of what the medium has to offer to late-teens and older:

Fullmetal Alchemist (at least Brotherhood, both if you're patient)
    Cowboy Bebop
    Haibane Renmei
    Monster
    Mushishi
