Python-How to get started on web design
rizenfrmtheashes replied to Flatnose321's topic in Programming
If you want to build an end to end website using Python, there are two major frameworks available to you. Flask: A more bare bones framework with not much magic behind the scenes. Simple routing, function calling, and abstractions. Can become a limiting factor as your requirements get more complex Django: A fully loaded framework that does a ton of magic (though not nearly as much as Ruby on Rails IMHO). Has a bit of steep initial learning curve, but becomes more powerful as you learn to use a ton of the tools included. -
Building to be a full stack developer.
rizenfrmtheashes replied to enigmakahn's topic in Programming
This is a huge takeaway. Each language and platform has it's advantages and disadvantages and learning when to reach for the right tool is huge. That being said (and possibly extending the metaphor a little too far), everyone has a toolkit that they are comfortable with. I love learning new languages, platforms, and frameworks on the side, but tend to stick to what I know best when developing for a production environment. Personally, I know the Python+Django/Flask pretty well as well as building services in Golang. I've done stuff in Java as well, but I don't like reaching for that again. But that's mostly for web services. I don't have much to say in the category for soft skills, but understanding patterns, anti-patterns, and understanding when you're getting yourself stuck in a rut are huge things to learn (and I still mess up at the last one quite a bit). This book, 'Release It!', was very useful in guiding how I built services when I was younger. -

Broadcom Wifi Driver Issue on Rampage V Edition 10
rizenfrmtheashes replied to rizenfrmtheashes's topic in Troubleshooting
K. I'll have to take a look and find it. I dont know where it's seated, but I'll take a look. Thanks. -
Dealing with a VERY strange driver issue on computer. This has to do with the Broadcom Wifi Driver for my Asus Rampage V Edition 10 Motherboard. I have my computer wired in via ethernet so I didn't notice when this first happened. But first my WiFi adapter stopped showing up in Windows (10 Pro). I looked into my device manager and saw that I had not Wifi Device, or nothing WiFi related in my network adapters. I redownloaded drivers from asus's website, and the bundled installer would silently fail, and when I navigated to manually in stall the driver, I would get a "update.cpp 1189" error in the broadcom wifi driver installer process. I even fully reinstalled windows on my boot drive and the second I booted in, I saw no driver, and the driver reinstall failed like before. I see device with an error in my device manager, and I'm thinking this is the messed up wifi driver. Somehow windows automatic driver installs on first boot of the machine is grabbing this bad one? This is just speculation, but I'm looking for some help here. Thanks, Rizen.

Hi, I'm Rizen, Some of you may know me as (the now former) Twitch staff that hung out with you guys a ton on the WAN show and Luke's Twitch. I graduated with a BS in EECS from UC Berkeley (although I took enough graduate courses to leave with a masters if I wasn't too lazy to write a thesis), with experience in a wide variety of programming disciplines such as web services, GPU platforms with openGL and CUDA, hugely scalable data pipelines for analytics and other data services (what I worked on at Twitch), data security platforms with an emphasis on backend web services, data pipelines and overall infrastructure (I'd like to say I'm pretty handy with AWS, what I'm working on now), and much more. I'm located in the Bay Area, and am more than happy to talk about my experiences, the work I've done, and the tech culture down here, as well as other technical issues. Thanks.

Let me know if you need a data pipeline or devops engineer. I'm more than willing to help with the overall architecture and infrastructure, and when you want to start doing data pipelines with analysis or smart features associated with them, I'll be your guy.

went and tried many other slot combinations that never had the graphics card or ssd in their original positions, including slots not used by either in the original configuration, but no luck. after a boot and shutdown, I get the 00 post codes while off again and my bios doesn't recognize the pcie ssd unless I physically remove and re-attach it. everywhere I go, I see 00 post codes meaning their computer isn't posting, but I am literally typing on said computer. I've been dealing with this issues for ages and I can't figure out what to do. at my wits end here.

A very thorough inspection show no damage to any of the solder points or the ports on the board. This just started happening out of the blue. Originally, it had no issues booting and my time delta between power button and windows login screen would be around 7 seconds. I'll go ahead and try different slots in a bit and report back. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi there. List of specs: x99 deluxe with bios version 3402 5960x 32 GB ddr4 corsair dominator memory Corsair h100i cooler GTX 980ti intel SSD 750 NVMe 400gb. So, my computer while off always has a 00 post code. So much so that when I turn off my PSU switch, it still shows (albeit less brightly). It only disappears when I unplug my 980ti. Even with this 00 code, my computer still posts just fine. However, it only recognizes the NVMe ssd the first time it starts up. When I shut down my computer (not restart), and turn it back on, it does recognize that the ssd is there anymore. I have to physically unplug my ssd from my Mobo, and plug it back in before starting up my computer each time, and then things work normally. I'd be more than happy to provide more specific details. I really want to know what's going on here. will a mobo upgrade fix this? what will? Thanks, Rizen.
