  1. Hi, I got myself a used Alienware 13 r3 (GTX1060, Core I7 6700HQ, 16gb RAM, clean Windows 10 install), everytime I start a game it runs fine for the first 15min, it gets very hot but doesn't thermal throttle. I also did the PCH heatsink-mod to keep it from reaching 90C° and bottlenecking performance. It's a really strange behavior, the gpu stays under 90C° and boosting fine, the CPU fluctuates between base clock (2.6ghz) and 3ghz boost, Intel XTU states it's power limit throtteling while staying at 35 watts the whole time, shouldn't 35 watts be fine for this cpu? Also I did a repaste. But still after 15mins the framerate drops(60ish FPS to 10) and after a few seconds it goes up again. I undervolted the cpu (-140mV) and that seems to fix the problem(CPU now stays at 3ghz boost constantly) but I can't get the undervolt to stick between reboots and waking the notebook up from sleep. Also I've read that I should undervolt the cache and maybe the iGPU, does this really help if I'm using the GTX1060? Maybe undervolting the GTX1060 would also help? What should I do to fix performance and make it stick so I don't have to dial it in everytime I reboot?
  2. My favorite part of this giveaway is the case. I really like the design of it!
  3. Will the PCIe 2.0 x1 wich equals PCIe 1.1 x2 (if I'm correct) be worse bottleneck than the CPU from my Desktop?
  4. I testet it and the notebook Core i7 only gets to 15-30 % in BF3 Maybe your brother overclocked the q9550, wich is not possible on my Mainboard
  5. the 970 comes from the EVGA Step Up programm, if I return it I won't have any GPU, but my old Quadro FX 370. Gaming performance wasn't that bad with the GTX 760: BF3: 45-60 FPS on high, but the CPU bottlenecked there (CPU: 100%, GPU: 60 - 70%) There is no money for upgrading my PC now:( I only need to know which solution is less worse: CPU bottleneck on the desktop or PCIe bottleneck on the notebook
  6. Hello, Next week I get a GTX970, and because my PC already bottlenecked the GTX760 I thought of different solutions: PC (same setup as before but instead of the GTX760 a GTX970): Intel Core2Quad q9450 4gb DDR2 (800 mHz) PCIe 1.1 x4 slot or Notebook (eGPU compatible): Intel Core i7 2720QM 16gb DDR3 (1333 mHz) PCIe 2.0 x1 slot (via: http://www.banggood.com/EXP-GDC-Laptop-External-PCI-E-Graphics-Card-p-934367.html) Wich one would work better? How much will the GTX970 be bottlenecked by a slower PCIe interface?
  7. I like the efficiency of the new 900 series cards, it allows them to run extremely silent.
  8. Xperia Z2: the best thing are the stereo front facing speakers and the waterproofness dbrand: the best thing is their awsome custom linustechtips-skin
  9. The best thing about the G550JK is the non reflective IPS screen!
  10. My favourite thing about the G3 are the design, the small bezels and the rear-mounted buttons!
