  1. KeePass is the standard when it comes to the password managers. It is open source so you can be sure that it doesn’t have any back doors. If you want to be extra paranoid then use something like VeraCrypt to completely encrypt the drive with the KeePass password database on it.
  2. Regarding 8K, AFAIK only Japan has commercial 8K broadcast (NHK). Usual content there are documentaries and travel videos. Also to watch 8K content one must pay 30~40 USD every month for chanel descrambling. So even if you live in Japan it is just not worth to have 8K TV except for the bragging rights. I would say that one of the reasons is Sharp which is one of the first commercial 8K TV manufacturers. The other one that I know is Samsung which I also think that uses Android, but I might be wrong. Regarding Netflix etc. the biggest issue with 8K is bandwidth. Streaming services already use tons of bandwidth so increasing it would just be financially unreasonable. Eg. Netflix uses AWS which charges egress data so having extra bandwidth for 8K is simply not great idea financially.
  3. Let’s put it in this way. If you don’t know how to use and develop in any of the programming languages, it can’t be done by simply installing “magic” software. I was curious and checked APIs and in my 2-3 minutes it seems possible, but can’t be 100% sure.
  4. Gender reveal parties are dumb. The whole concept behind is dumb. And that goes even before mentioning “gender reveal parties gone wrong by inflicting massive damage to the surroundings” dumb.
  5. I would not remove the seal as well. HOWEVER, if I put myself into buyer’s shoes, I know that one can reseal the box with some effort. Which means that although you receive “new and sealed” box, inside can be Nokia 3310 or piece of rock. Fortunately I never had to deal with those issues, but I’ve seen brand new sealed boxes from Amazon that contain some old crap products inside.
  6. I know there is one German company which is highly recommended for DIY audio projects, but can't remember the name. However, I managed to find this site which makes custom front panels for 500 series projects. https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/custom-shop-faceplate-standard.html?language=en IMHO pricing is reasonable and it seems that they ship everywhere.
  7. I am gloves freak so some new gloves for rain season/extra protection during the winter and new gloves for dry tooling were bought
  8. Yet another "old school dudes nailing it" performance
  9. Misuse of ASMR tags in videos is way too high. Every sh*t is now ASMR. I would not be surprised if I search for eg. septic tank cleaning videos that those will have ASMR tags as well.
  10. Cups, table spoons and tea spoons as measure units SUCK. If you really must use those useless units, please provide grams as well in the recipes. Take an example - 1 tsp of salt: if you use kosher salt it won't be salty enough if recipe calls for sea salt, but if it calls for kosher salt it might be too salty. However eg 10g of sea salt is equally salty as 10g of fine salt or 10g of kosher salt. Volumetric units are in most of case plainly useless.
  11. Bunch of old school musicians putting together an amazing show
  12. All those rap songs over famous tunes are nothing more than shortcuts to fame since their rap part is nothing more than overproduced generic piece of s**t if you would remove the tune in the background which no one would notice otherwise.
  13. I agree with this statement. It is obvious that LV is targeting average audience who will pay extra just because they want LV accessories in their homes.
  14. When it comes to anime I don’t have objections against dubs. Eg. I always preferred English Dragon Ball dub than original Japanese one. Also speaking of anime, it is one of THE WORST source for Japanese learning. I speak Japanese because of the business, but if you wanted to use anime Japanese you would easily offend someone. Japanese is not like English that you directly say someone that he is as****, mot********r etc. Just one wrong pronoun can make you sound aggressive. Also, during my first encounter with Japan local weebs were giving me “protips”, but those were super wrong. Real life Japan and weeb Japan are not similar a single bit.
  15. Few decades ago when I was 14 I was working in a small PC repair shop and then during the summer I moved to maintain PC equipment, networking and servers at the local airport. So I would say that it depends.
  16. Again, you seem not to understand my reasons. So now I will shorten it as much as possible. After making a dish if I end up with anything more than egg shells when it comes to eggs, I don’t want to make it. Simple.
  17. Yes, I am aware of the reasons, but they still don’t make me like those recipes. As for soufflés etc. when you separate yolks from whites but in the end all of the eggs are used, I am fine with that. Anyhow, if I see recipes that eggs are not fully used by the end of it, I will most likely never try to replicate those.
  18. I hate recipes which don't use whole eggs, but instead only white(s) only or yolk(s) are used. Yes, unused parts can be used for other recipes, but I don't want to plan what to cook just to use remainder of eggs. It will happen more often than not that I will simply trash leftover egg parts.
  19. Not sure what is your setting, but if you are sitting around the table then look at microphones for conferences. Something like this https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/microphones/wired/best-for/meeting-space/pro44
  20. In the broadcast situation you want something reliable and something that can be operated without much fuss. Basically, on the field when they record something they don't have much time to do a montage before eg. evening news so they want material that requires minimum processing. Those cameras are made to provide the best possible chance of getting a perfect video because you will not have another chance to get that "money shot". Even so, that Canon camcorder, although nice camera is just an entry level model IMHO. The ones that I've seen being used in big TV houses are usually Sony or Ikegami when we speak about portable models. For studio usage I've seen other ones as well including beast made by Hitachi which enables 8K resolution at 120fps used for filming sports events. In that case the lens was made by Canon. I had a chance to play with it a bit and it was super easy and smooth to do some basic operations even for me and I am not a cameraman. Speaking about lenses, broadcast lenses are motorized because, as I said before, you don't want any fuss when operating camera. Also all that fine mechanic components must be reliable which is additionally increasing the cost. Finally, there is also question of connectivity. SDI is still the standard for cameras to transport the video in realtime. All professional switching equipment, encoders etc. are SDI based so for broadcast SDI connection is still a must.
  21. Oh yeah. There were so many times that I wanted to go to cinema in my home country to watch some cartoons just to figure out that they were dubbed. Awful. I made a promise to myself that if I ever make cartoon, one of the first things in the distribution contract would be that dubbing is prohibited.
  22. No Youtube video unfortunately. Have this on Bluray. Also seen them live 2 years ago, that was a great show. Old school Arch Enemy.
  23. As someone who is professionally involved into IT for years I must say that so called tech enthusiasts are generally lacking A LOT of IT related knowledge, both in the fields of hardware and software.
  24. I will try to put some more technical information from a perspective of a person who had to deal with FPGA based design. The main difference between FPGA and GPU is that GPU is basically one trick pony (which is very good at what it does), while FPGA can be reconfigured according to the specification, but the main design philosophy is the same. From now on, if you see FPGA the same principle applies to the GPU and many other ASIC based designs. Different grade FPGA require different power regulation and different memory configuration. You can easily see how high end GPUs have quite complex power delivery regulation, while lower end not as much. For high IO performance memory must be physically close to the chip so socketed memory modules are out of the question (GPU design is the same). I've seen one company making FPGA modules which are essentially all basic FPGA components on a single PCB (memory, power regulation, FPGA chip itself and other components) with a connector to connect it to your PCB board. That would be basically the same concept as GPU which you connect into your PCIe connector. So long story short , from the technical perspective GPUs are already delivered in their best format. Having socketed chip would make a compatibility nightmare and performance would have to be scaled down because of the physical (electrical) constrains. Also in laptops there are no socketed GPU chips, only modules. It is the same principle as PCIe GPU - you have one PCB with GPU, memory and power on it. Completely different story.
