Powderhorn reacted to colonel_mortis in Floatplane Support
In floatplane.com, click the cog in the bottom left, next to your name, then click "settings". In the tab nav that appears, click "Connected Accounts", then click the refresh icon next to Linus Tech Tips. (The steps are mostly similar to https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/976027-how-to-link-discord-to-your-floatplanecom-account/). If that doesn't work, or it would be easier, you can also log out, then log back in using the LTT forum, as this will also force a resync.

INTEL 5820K GIVEAWAY DECEMBER 19-26
Our friends over at Intel have been generous enough to provide us with 2 Core i7 5820K 6-Core Processors to give away to the community! Think of it as an awesome holiday present from Intel to the community
How do I enter?
Leave a comment below to enter the draw. One comment (entry) per user.
This is a worldwide giveaway.
Also, please mention in your comment what you would do with the processor if you were to win this giveaway! (This will not affect who wins in any way - winners are chosen at random, this is just a way to add a bit of cool community interaction to the contest) Are you a budding streamer or video editor who will use the extra cores for multi-tasking? Would this chip act as the missing piece for a set of workstation components that you've been eyeing?
UPDATE 12/27/2014:
The winners of this giveaway are:
La Jolla Orca
and
elan2468
Both of you should have a message from me in your inbox.
Congrats to our winners, and thank you all for entering!

Powderhorn reacted to Creepz in League of legends Team North America
Looking for people to play league that are lvl 25+ that build the right stuff, and don't act like they're completely brain dead. North America
No feeders, or faze members.
Must have a mic and be willing to use teamspeak or at least skype.
The matchmaking is horrible, people act like it's their first game every game and build the wrong items, and play the wrong lanes with the wrong champs.

Powderhorn got a reaction from Trademark Wahlberg in best card for ~$200
I think I will most likely go with the 280, especially because free sink looks promising with it not needing any additional hardware to be added to the monitor. Thank you for replying.

Powderhorn reacted to Resonance in best card for ~$200
The build seems appropriate enough. Is this purely for gaming? Since you're going the AMD route, I'm assuming that power consumption isn't an issue? Then I'd recommend what ELSknutson recommended. The R9 280.

Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB Tri-X is a excellent card for this build:

Right now you can get it at Newegg with 15$ mail-in rebate

Powderhorn reacted to Pofi in I need help on building a new PC
I would not recommend a cpu cooler. Stock cooler will work just fine, no problem... unless you're doing ultra extreme overclocking which i assume you're not.

Powderhorn reacted to iAmAnnon in I need help on building a new PC
I feel extremely dumb posting here, but I've only bought pre-built pc's my whole life. Recently, I've been getting mad at the options I have, and I have decided to attempt to build a computer. As I am very new to this, I've done as much research as I could, and I'm still very lost on what to get. So, me being incapable of figuring out anything by myself, a friend recommended me here.
So, what I'm looking for is the most bang for my buck (gaming wise) for a new PC. I have roughly $1k, but as I said before, I've only bought prebuilt PCs so thats my budget for everything, including case, monitor, boot disk, etc. So, I was wondering if you guys could help, I really don't need exact parts, but if you could do that it'll be great, but if anything please just point me in the right direction. As I am new to this, I don't know everything, but I'm relativly sure I've got the basics. Thanks in advanced.

You don't need one, nobody needs one. Its abit like a ferrari.
However I absolutely guarantee That if you buy a mech keyboard you will be happy with your purchase. They actually make typing fun lol.
