A lot of the work put into the Chevy is from patents Tesla made publicly available, the only thing Chevy had to make was the Motor and Battery arrangement. (excluding typical design costs, those are completely Chevy) Of course Tesla made these available in hopes of getting more competition in the EV market, which it did. I'm not hating on Chevy for doing so, it helps speed up innovation, but at the same exact price point i'm willing to wait for a Tesla than to get the Chevy. Tesla also has the Supercharger network and it is a huge selling point for the Tesla.

Ah okay - that's much more specific.

It sounded like you were implying that Tesla invented electric cars (Not even close to true). It's generally best to state this kind of stuff when making a statement like that, so that people don't think you're misinformed.

Tesla created this technology, Chevy only adapted it. This may change in the future, but for now while they are at competitive prices I will go with the innovator over the adapter. Of course if Tesla is still true to their word they would love it if you bought a Bolt.

I found this spreadsheet on the Dolphin forums. It shows the 750k performing just below perfect speed so it might do well.

It's a debt card that uses the balance off your wallet acct. Which can draw money from multiple sources such as your bank or credit card. Idealy this would allow you to keep your other cards somewhere safe and only carry your wallet card, which could be deactivated by your phone instantly if lost or stolen.

Yeah, I realize now that doing a bit of research on a distro first can go a long way (Debian and Arch were really easy to figure out so I'm kinda spoiled I guess). I'm still kind of upset that I gave up on Sabayon so easily, but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter.

So, update! I'm now happily running Korora 23 on both of my systems thanks to @Burusutazu 's recommendation. Really pleased with it so far, I managed to get both Steam and Spotify running, no problem. I got my laptop all set up and stuff, but haven't gotten a chance to do anything but install the OS on my desktop because I had my wisdom teeth removed today. Hopefully I've finally found my perfect distro!

If it still works, just wait till the end of the warranty. I would use this as an excuse to not worry about keeping it in such great condition.

That´s it? Wait till the near end of warranty if you need the laptop on a daily basis. If not, just copy over important files to an external hard drive, and bring the warranty in now.

This is not a laptop competitor. This is a small form factor pc, which is more powerful then most other desktops you can buy or build in this form factor. The people who buy this know very well that the cpu cannot be upgraded. Also, from what I understand thunderbolt 3 does not bottleneck graphics cards the drivers are what need to improve.

There is absolutely a reason, support. This laptop comes with guarenteed parts and support from Dell on issues. Why do you think companies like System76 are still up and running? And why Dell has sold these Ubuntu laptops for years now?

You have to search for this laptop, it won't show up otherwise.

Burusutazu got a reaction from RedWulf in Questions about switching to Linux
I would dual boot, best of both worlds and not much of a hassle. Ubuntu Gnome is fantastic, as a long time Ubuntu (Unity) user the switch to Gnome was very refreshing. It uses hot corners and even has good touch support if you have a touchscreen.

If you do dual boot, make sure you give both windows and ubuntu plenty of space. I split my 2tb hard drive 1.7tb Windows 300gb Ubuntu and I've began to run out of space on my Ubuntu partition since it became my main driver. If you end up not liking linux make sure you have a copy of your windows recovery media, so you can restore the MBR after deleting the Linux partition.
